Hi all, Creating a DietPi image for BPi Pro based on ARMbian. I finally got a chance to test do_expand_rootfs() from /etc/init.d/firstrun. Now works with multiple partitions, thanks for doing that Having an issue with the onboard WiFi on the BPi Pro (Lemaker). It appears to be enable, active and ready for use, however, I can not get it to scan/connect to a SSID, or even work in AP mode. Built the image using your excellent build tools: [ o.k. ] Building [ Armbian 5.17 Bananapipro Debian jessie default ] root@DietPi:~# iwlist wlan0 scan wlan0 No scan results Fails to set country code. I was curious to see how Mainline kernel performs on GbE test against a Legacy kernel. For the Armbian side i chose the nightly dev Armbian_5.27.170602_Orangepiwin_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.1_desktop.img (Desktop) and for the Legacy i chose my own build with all "Bells and whistles" (full Desktop, hdmi, camera, bt and wifi). I did not optimized Armbian Mainline, just installed and run stock. For the Legacy i optimized as usual. If there is some optimization to do on Mainline side, i missed. I have some observations about the board and results: * Board is without Heat-sink, * Legacy subsequent test got lower values, i suspect it runs h…

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had been able to get this working ? And, yes i know that OPI-Win is WIP/testing. I read some stuff here & on the linux-sunxi irc log that seemed to say that it should work & I've tried the following without luck. I was wondering if someone with alittle more knowledge about this may be able to help or point me in the right direction. I also tried to compile u-boot v2017-09 but it fails with a sdram too big error I tried to backport some of the config to 2017-07 but that'll take time i expect ... /boot/armbianEnv.txt (many combinations of this) disp_mode=720p60 disp_dvi_compat…

Hello. I remodel my Philips TV 32PFL4258T in a media center. The motherboard burned to the TV. There is no point in buying a new one. He had not worked very well before that. I installed universal scaler Z.VST.3463.A1. I bought myself Orange Pi One and installed Arbian 5.30. But when you start the browser and the video on YouTube, after 5 minutes, the promo starts to buggy and hang. The processor temperature is 55 degrees. According to the SSH, a 1% swap file is written. I think then, when viewing the memory, it eats much more and faster. Kodi also works. If you do not watch movies and programs nimble. As soon as you turn on the film everything is badly hangi…

Hello everyone I have an orangepi zero with a Micro-USB (OTG) socket and an A-USB socket integrated into the board. Using the Armbian_5.35_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.16 system, a micro-USB cable connected to a Windows computer will have an ELMOG MAS COM device that makes it easy to manage orangepi zero. However, this Micro-USB socket is easily damaged after many times of plugging and unplugging. Can I use the A-USB socket as the USB device mode? thank you all

Armbian_5.59_Nanopineo2_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.14.65.img does not see the sound codec at all. The status matrix here: http://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort#Status_Matrix tells that Audio Codec should be supported since kernel 4.12 on H3 (H2+ is the same, as far as I know). But Armbian does not see the audio codec nor on NanoPi Neo2 (H5), nor even on on NanoPi Duo (H2+), although all the img files I used have 4.14 in their name. However, even with FriendlyElec's own image nanopi-neo2_ubuntu-oled_4.14.52_20180628.img there is a different issue - the sound is mono instead of stereo! I tried speaker-test: speaker-test -…

Hi there, 2 days ago I did apt update + apt upgrade on my OPi3, everything fine. Yesterday I did a system reboot (as suggested "kernel changed"), then Eth port went dead. No even ARP works (ARPING). Have tried: - ifconfig shows correct values, - ethtool shows 1Gbps FDX connection, also same on router (OpenWRT TL-WR1043ND w 18.06 software), - changed eth cable, - on other OPi connected to same switch / router (also went dead) depowering device helped, but not on OPi3, - ARP shows MAC/IP not resolved, - WiFi (configured as AP) looks working. - also changed port on router and did power cycle device, nothing helps. - on r…

Hi guys, I've been tring to get an IR LED to work with LIRC for a while now but just cant get it to work. I'm a bit of a noob with linux, so bear with me.... (using 5.05 desktop image) I have been able to get a receiver working thanks to the stickied tutorial. Although only when running lircd manually with driver and device options, I've setup hardware.conf but i think the /etc/init.d/lirc script overrides that. Anyway its the sending using gpio that i need and the closest i've come is with the LIRC GPIO kernel module from here. As it compiles, loads and shows that the gpio pin has been allocated using: cat /sys/kernel/debug/gpio GPIOs 0-383, platform/sunxi-pinctrl…

Hello! I'm trying to get SPI working with Armbian on Cubietruck. Armbian 5.20 Debian Jessie I edited fex, enabled spi as here https://linux-sunxi.org/SPIdev#Configuring_your_FEXbut no spidev device appeared. I have no device tree file in /boot/. Here https://docs.armbian.com/Hardware_Allwinner-A20/is mentioned SPI ready and tested with ILI9341 based 2.4″ TFT LCD displayAs I understand the SPI driver is already in Armbian kernel but to enable spidev I need to do something else? Can anyone explain how to enable SPI on Cubietruck?

Hi, I'm trying to boot from SATA the original OrangePI: Using the Jessie "Linux orangepi 4.9.12-sunxi #4 SMP Thu Feb 23 19:46:51 CET 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux" Followed this thread: https://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/329-moving-linux-to-sata-or-external-drive/ - copied to /dev/sda1 - edited /boot/boot.cmd and changed to /dev/sda1 - edited the mounted sda1 fstab and changed / to SATA drive UUID - compiled: mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d /boot/boot.cmd /boot/boot.scr Rebooted but Orange Pi still boots from mSD card and does not use SATA drive. Question: Should I use UUID of the SATA drive in /boot/boot.cmd?

Hello, my opi+2 sometimes dies after long running times and becomes so hot that I cannot touch it. When I looked to logs, I saw kernel panic errors like, you know, tons of meanless numbers. I can provide any information you want. It's been few hours since I started it but here are logs. http://sprunge.us/jJSK Probably it had had 0.05 15 min load before it died. I couldn't see the message I saw before, probably they got removed from the system after few minutes. I'll send you newer logs after I get accurate errors again. This may take a week, or few days.

If i try to boot without SD card, than power off Cubie with button, then insert SD and switch on with button - it will boot OK with lagacy kernel! Which logs can help to find the problem? I ought to use legacy kernel - i need internal soundcard and both USB. Boot sector of the SD card is normally accessible from Windows, so you can edit file config.txt. What you maybe need? Add into config.txt this line: Code: Select all hdmi_force_hotplug=1 well - this can be a good hint.. what do you say - btw. How to edit this line!? btw found some additonal texts: …

I have recently updated to Armbian Focal (Ubuntu 20.04). My Banana Pi M1 is running an apache server + some digital amateur radio stuff. So upload speed is important. My average download and upload speed as measured with speediest-cli is 45Mb/sec and 18Mb/sec respectively (wired connection to modem) With Focal I get these speeds with Buster (Debian 10) the download speed is still 45Mb/sec but the upload speed drops to 3.4 Mb/sec. These results are not one off but consistent. The am64 version of Buster does exactly the same thing.. My question is : can I change this with programming or is it a fixture in the kernel ? Can someone enlighten me please ? Rein

Hi, I could enable "spidev" support by armbian-config -> system -> hardware (enable spidev) . Everything worked fine. However, the original spidev module supports messages only up to 4096 bytes. I compiled a new version of custom spidev.ko with the 32,768 buffer size. Then, converted it to spidev.ko.xz ( xz -v spidev.ko) and replaced the original file under /lib/modules/5.15.85-sunxi/kernel/drivers/spi/spidev.ko.xz The new module works fine when I install it manually: insmod /lib/modules/5.15.85-sunxi/kernel/drivers/spi/spidev.ko.xz However, after the reboot the original 4096-byte version of "spidev" module is loaded magically.…

Hi, what are currently the options of controlling 433Mhz sender/receiver devices from an orange Pi zero 3? Currently the gpios are no longer exposed via sysfs but you could re-enable that feature by compiling a new kernel with the proper configuration. Then wiringpi would work again and you could use 433Utils. But what would be the options without compiling a new kernel? What 433Mhz library exists that uses the new way of controlling the gpios? I am a bit confused about the current state of affairs, please enlighten me...

Hello! I could find quite a bit of information about the analog video output for OrangePi Zero 2W on Armbian under Ubuntu. On Android TV-OUT works. Are there any plans to add this feature to Armbian? It is very critical for me. If no one plans to do this now, then I would be extremely grateful for advice from experts on how to port / modify existing drivers, perhaps take something from the AndroidTV 12 code, where the video output works? I am a developer, but I have not previously dealt with driver development for Linux, but if I understand in which direction to act, then using ChatGPT sooner or later I should be able to cope. I would be very grateful for any he…

If anyone in interested in a lightweight wayland desktop, inspired by openbox, you should try labwc. In orange pi zero 3, we need to stay in bookworm to get video acceleration, so this guide helps build labwc in bookworm As a greeter, I chose pi-greeter, because it is the lightest login manager I could setup, without any X11 https://github.com/robertojguerra/opiz3-labwc-setup I am open to read any improvements, or show me how I could make deb packages. In the near future, I will make a step-by-step video tutorial in Youtube.

Hello! I am tired of system freezing once in 1-2 days, and think the reason is heating (Board 49 degrees right now) so I decided to revert system back to SD and not use HDD at all, making system more stable by power and temperature. Please help me to do it - is there any revert script that I can run to move all data from HDD back to SD?

Someone did an amazing job implementing the cubietruck sata speed for armbian. I am curious as to what was done. The other day I pulled read 75MB/s(via nautilus ftp) to my main computer from it. Would perhaps like to apply whatever the fix was to netbsd.

Please give me your recommendation for my OPiPC+ to use Armbian and Asterisk I see there are 3 options for Armbian for my model. I am not good with linux and would prefer a GUI for both Armbian and Asterisk. Also I am wanting as "Lightweight" as possible. I will not be using the OPi for anything else but a phone system. Also could you give me steps to take to add Asterisk to Armbian. Thanks

Hello I am a new user of the armbian software. I installed the latest version of vanilla to armbian in the description of the material, I saw that the buscan was activated. I have a banana pi pro, I would like to know how to install the software for CAN bus. I read that can4linux was the driver to install. I read on this forum they've installed patches, but how do I installed a patch? Thank you for your help. PS: I speak French and I use a translator.

I have the Orange Pi Zero - working using last week's nightly build which has the WIFI intact and I've since updated using the usual apt-get upgrade. The WIFI is awful - wired is fine - I'm using Xenial - nmtui to setup - and I have two issues - despite turning off WIFI power management and being no more than 3ft away from the (new) access point - WIFI is so sluggish you can tell when typing into a terminal!! Also despite what nmtui should do - if I turn off the access point (simulating an issue with say power) and back on, the Orange Pi Zero will NOT reconnect even minutes later without rebooting. Anyone have ideas as to (a) how to improve the WIFI to make it us…

On my new orange pi zero I hooked a pl2303 usb converter to the three serial pins and use "screen /dev/ttyUSB4 115200" to connect. This gives garbage on boot, with occasional strings of meaningful info like "Orange Pi" or "Debian". Same converter worked fine on my Raspberry Pi Zero. I'm suspecting the Orange Pi is just too fast and either the pl2303 or my Debian system can't keep up. Does anyone have the serial console working? Should I try a cp2102 instead, or maybe reconfigure to a slower speed? When I configured a DHCP server and hooked it up via ethernet, I can get in fine. I got a new board revision of the Olimex A20-OLInuXino-MICRO Board (Rev. J). It works with the by Olimex provided Jessie image but not with Armbian_5.25_Micro_Debian_jessie_next_4.9.7. I get no IP address by DHCP because the ethernet is not working. The reason could be an new ethernet chipset they introduced with this revision. New: Microchip's LAN8710AI-EZK(QFN-32). Before: Realtek RTL8201CP(LQFP-48) They publish a patch on: https://github.com/OLIMEX/OLINUXINO/blob/master/SOFTWARE/A20/A20-build-3.4.103-release-5/a20-phy_1000_100-dram.patch

It seems like all the OS available for the A64 (for me specifically the orangepi winplus) are using the 3.10 kernel that has reached the EOL. I have been advised against using this kernel but I don't see any other options. I did find and armbian for the winplus that used 4.11 but it crumbled after upgrade every time. Does anyone have any advice for me? Thanks

After upgrade to latest kernel (4.19.38) my device only boots into maintenance mode. System is on emmc and no problems before. I started armbian-config and switched back to previous kernel, but it doesn't boot system. Even with all USB devices disconnected it didn't start (as i see there are some usb errors in log), file system seems to be clean, just didn't start system in normal mode.... Any advice? Thx Update: OK, solved, after installing latest updates within maintenance mode its ok again....

Hello all. I am having problems making nand-sata-install script work for installing to my external HDD. I used this (or similar) script in the past on loboris' images and it was working. Yesterday I nearly burned my orange pi zero because of the faulty LAN cable, after that, everything I plugged into the expansion board couldn't be detected anymore by lsusb or dmesg, it works fine though if I plug in my thumb drive / usb wifi into the usb port on the main board (Next to the LAN port). How do I know for sure that my expansion board is broken and not the pin headers in the main board ? I'm not an electronic guy I don't know anything about soldering and stuff.

I recently switched from a Raspberry Pi 2 running Arch Linux to a Banana Pi (the original) running Armbian for music streaming using MPD. My output device is an XMOS-based Gustard U12 asynchronous USB transport feeding my DAC via AES/EBU. Using Armbian on the Banana Pi, all my 24-bit/192kHz music is being played back as 24/96, according to the display on the transport and DAC. All other sample rates (44.1, 88.2 etc.) are being played back in their native sample rates, as expected. Is ALSA on Armbian system-wide limited to 96 kHz? I have never had an issue like this before, and I don't know where to begin in regards to troubleshooting. I'm guessing th…

Hi, I'm Glego and this is my first post. I was just fiddling around with my old BananaPI M1 and M1+, and stumbled upon ARMbian, which has great appraisals on the Bananapi forum.
