Hi, I have some armbian 5.38 (kernel 4.11.5) installations and recently updated them. With this update I got kernel 4.14.18. When I executed command "armbianmonitor -m" I used to get something like this: :~# armbianmonitor -m Stop monitoring using [ctrl]-[c] Time CPU load %cpu %sys %usr %nice %io %irq CPU PMIC 10:52:13: 528MHz 0.35 21% 2% 18% 0% 0% 0% 40.8°C 41.0°C 10:52:18: 528MHz 0.52 21% 2% 18% 0% 0% 0% 40.7°C 41.0°C 10:52:24: 528MHz 0.47 21% 2% 18% 0% 0% 0% 40.7°C 41.0°C Now after update, and kernel 4.14.18 among other new packets, I got this: …

I have a board of Orange Pi One Plus with installed pihole (https://pi-hole.net/). Armbian image is Armbian Buster with latest updates. PRETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)" Each 2-4 hours the device hangs and not able to respond to any command until I reboot it. The max uptime that I was able to gain was ~25 hours. I've changed power adapters, powered it via microUSB - same result. Looking at the logs I really have no clue why it stucks. Attaching debug, kern and syslog. Probably someone may pinpoint what's going on. P.S. Previous OPi One (not Plus) worked for that purpose like a charm. Didn't know that bying Opi One+ for upgrade will buy me loos…

Hi, guys. I'm using the last Armbian Cubieboard image (Armbian_23.11.1_Cubieboard_bookworm_current_6.1.63.img.xz) on my "Gemei G9" Allwinner A10 tablet. Hello again, since I use the NAND-Flash to boot and I want to use the new kernel, which doesnt support NAND yet, I'm curious if its possible to use both: 1. Can I boot the new kernel from NAND? Since the new kernel is started after uboot, it should be possible? 2. Afterwards I have no possibility to update the kernel again. Or do I have? (Without SD-Card) a.) the nand-tools requires the nand-driver??? Or is there a possibility to writea prebuild image to nand without kernel-nand-support? b.) is it possible to start an old kernel from the new for upgrading? Tried "kexec uImage", but it doesnt work. Maybe I need the zImage instead of uImage? best regards

After i've upgraded to 5.00, and upgraded the legacy kernel to vanilla (mostly for hardware crypto), i've noticed strange errors: blocky video play from dlna, and from samba too. So i did some test, copied few files on my cubieboard2, and compared the sha hashes of both version, and sometimes the cb2 version is changed, sometimes not. Also i see that a lot of synced files became different on cb2. Is there a way to do some in memory tests to verify how the hw crpyto works? For example random numbers -> hw encrypt -> decrypt -> check if still the same. These test i've made: -as i'm using the encrypted HDD as a backup storage too, i've compared the sour…

Hi, First, i'am french, excuse my bad english... I have a problem with my orangepi zero using a bme280 weather sensor with i2c. (I have 2 sensors) After long search and try, i've found the way to make this sensor working with the orange pi zero, by reading the datasheet where it's indicated that you must put CSB to Vdd to select i2c interface. !!! - I never wired this pin to my rapsberry pi and it always work , never see in any tuto too!!! Th problem is that I don't read good values, it seem that the values are always the same, based on calibration . I try to figure out what happen but i'm not so friendly with i2c pro…

Hi! I've coded a script that allows me to create a bootable disk of my favorite systems for different boards. it does a dd of the mbr (446 kb), then with fdisk and mkfs create the partitions, and at the end copy all the data for the root partition and others. This works for raspberry pi2 pi3, but for the orange pi it works only if the sd card is the same of the one used to backup the system, so i've investigated if the fstab or boot.cmd has some uuid of the disk but everywhere i found the device name instead of the uuid identifier. I don't understand why the orange pi lite don't boot with a different sd card if it have the same mbr and the same partitions. app…

Good afternoon. The problem is indicated in the title. The computer is connected to my monitor via HDMI and the screen resolution is only 1024x768. Which is inconvenient to use. I saw a similar topic raised on the official forum of a single-payer in 2019, but no one answered there. Is this a problem of the computer itself or the Linux kernel or drivers?

Hi. Recently i upgraded to Armbian_5.65_Orangepilite_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.78 and i have two problems. Hi, Creating a build for OPiPCPlus, mainline/dev/4.11, xenial, desktop. Need to enable the UDA1380 device in my local kernel build, yet I see some ..obstacles.. Tried initially to do a KERNEL_CONFIGURE="yes" in compile.sh but after started the compile and reached the point of menuconfig the UDA1380 option did not got presented (might be because there is no tristate string in mainline sound/soc/codecs/Kconfig..) so I reverted it back to normal. After the first attempt, I tried by modifying the lib/config/kernel/linux-sun8i-dev.config and added "CONFIG_SND_SOC_UDA1380=m", tried the compile again and waited to finish, yet at the end, although the ot…

Hi, I'm still experimenting with different "Linuxes" on that boards.. to get an LCD Display (LVDS) and the Ethernet part working. It cost me days to figure out that there seems to be an ugly glitch. with the stone age "cb2-dvk-sdcard-lubuntu-lcd v1.0.img" I get an working X11 Desktop with 800x480 ..but Ethernet doesn't work. I've checked those fex files (script.bin, script.fex) but couldn't figure out what's going on. I think that doesn't interest someone besides me, ok., got that. Now I've tried the actual "Armbian_community 24.5.0-trunk.667 Jammy with Linux 6.6.31-current-sunxi" that I've downloaded from somewhere here (…

On my new orange pi zero I hooked a pl2303 usb converter to the three serial pins and use "screen /dev/ttyUSB4 115200" to connect. This gives garbage on boot, with occasional strings of meaningful info like "Orange Pi" or "Debian". Same converter worked fine on my Raspberry Pi Zero. I'm suspecting the Orange Pi is just too fast and either the pl2303 or my Debian system can't keep up. Does anyone have the serial console working? Should I try a cp2102 instead, or maybe reconfigure to a slower speed? When I configured a DHCP server and hooked it up via ethernet, I can get in fine. Hi, I have an Orange PI Lite on to which I'd like to install the latest Armbian release. I had Armbian Xenial installed on the Pi Lite quite some time ago for test purposes and put it to one side while I got hardware for my Pi Lite set up for its intended use. I wiped the SD card and I was ready to download, install and set up the latest Armbian Xenial on my Orange Pi Lite when I notice the sub-heading "desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y". I'm not sure if this description appeared previously but my question is does this mean that this version, i.e. "Armbian Xenial desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y", although currently supported is no longer being updated and will theref…

Hi folks, I'm trying to figure out what the current status of USB OTG support is, as applies to the Orange Pi Zero. I'm trying to use the HID gadget features, but I'm triggering a segfault and stack dump when I try to set it up. I'm using the hidonly.sh script found here (https://github.com/crmulliner/hidemulation), with a tiny modification to make it more generic: - echo ci_hdrc.0 > UDC + ls /sys/class/udc > UDC On running the script, I get the following (using the serial console): I found this report, which appears to be identical, but I'm not sure what it means, or what I should do to get working OTG support on the OPi Zero. Is the…

Ethernet was working fine for me, up until I rebooted the board. The LEDs on the ethernet port blink briefly during boot, but once booted they are off, and the board does not have an IP address. Via serial console I undid the change I made prior to the fateful reboot (adding 'overlays=uart1' to '/boot/armbianEnv.txt') and rebooted again, but to no avail. Having searched for the issue, I also confirmed that my power supply is sufficient; running 'stress -c 2 -m 2', and measuring across pins 2 (5V) and 6 (GND) of the 40-pin header, I get 5.05V. As I don't have a network connection, I did not run 'sudo armbianmonitor -u', but I gathered the following …

I created a Jessie image for BananaPi with the latest / next kernel, and when booting the image, it get's stuck on "A start job is running for LSB: Raise network interfaces". It never seems to complete raising the interface, and since there is no time limit, this goes on forever. Creating a Wheezy image seems to work fine (also using latest / next kernel). Any suggestions on how I can get the Jessie image up and running? Thanks.

Hello, I have a fully working customized Armbian on OrangePi PC Plus. There are two partitions, one for the rootfs, second mounted as /home I want to convert the root partition to squashfs, and use the squashfs file to boot from. I already converted the root partition to squashfs file, I can mount squashfs file, and the contents are correct. I even tried to mount it via fstab and it works. I searched everywhere, obviosly not enough, but I cannot find a way to boot directly from the squashfs file. The idea is to have only squashfs file and rw partition for /home Please, can somebody help me, or point me to the right instructions ?

I compared two boards (opi zero h3 and opi zero plus h5) and found that cpu pins for 26 gpio are the same . so I modify the code in wiringPi about cpu detection to force return true value . and it works. the step: 1. git clone https://github.com/xpertsavenue/WiringOP-Zero 2. modify the code in WiringOP-Zero/wiringPi/wiringPi.c (or using the attached file to replace)。 3. make && make install 4. run "gpio readall " to test 5. run "gpio write 30 1" (the red-led on, wiringpi pin 30 control red-led status). wiringPi.c

I have a question for more experienced users. Quite a long time ago I built an internet radio based on OrangePi Lite + DAC I think in the I2S interface with the module: PCM5102 ... Hi! Is it only me or there are no updates to packages? Let me explain, I'm running jessie server on A20 latest stable kernel and when I run apt-get update, apt-get upgrade there are never updates available. I have experienced this for some of the latest releases and now I'm starting to thing that something is wrong with my system. Especially because I have a raspberry pi and that (yes, I know is raspbian) is getting updates to packages from time to time. I haven't modified or customized anything in the sources list. And the thing is that I'm getting updates for firmware/kernel when they are available. Any ideas? Is it something normal for armbian (/debian)?

Hi all, I've been struggling with the issue in the topic for a few days now. Actually the ideal solution would be a read-only root file system (with a writable overlayfs on top), so that I can just turn the power off, without risking any SD-card/filesystem corruption. There seems to be an easy solution for that according to this page: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Advanced-Features/ section "How to freeze your filesystem?". But the package "overlayroot" that is mentioned there does not seem to be available for Debian (Armbian Stretch). A quick attempt to adopt the overlayfs-startup scripts to Debian failed, because Debian is using systemd and the…

Where is the pinout? read_button.py has this code: led = connector.gpio0p0 # This is the same as port.PH2 button = connector.gpio3p40 read_key_PG7.py has this code: led = connector.gpio1p38 # This is the same as port.PH2 button = connector.gpio1p40 #CHOW Which pins are which, where to get the picture of GPIO pins? (And why LED's…

As tkaiser would say, Lamobo-r1 has terrible design but the concept is good (multiple usage possible: network, misc services) But let's be honest, perfection is when you are dead. Like sleeping & coffee some weeks ago, I was wondering (right or wrong) if a DMA config for the lamobo-r1 GMAC would help the bandwidth issues. One CPU core is 100% with all the gazillions of interruptions to handle. Now the DMA for A20 is in the mainline kernel but I am missing some tech glue. I have read an example in the kernel 4.3 doc with DMA config (DTS) for DWMAC (*if* applicable, not only for STMMAC, but also for A20-GMAC ???) links: stmmac kernel 4.3 documentation d…

I know it's not an officially supported board, but it's been working really well so far, so I'll give it a shot. Today I updated my kernel to 5.9.0-sunxi (coming from 5.9.0-rc7-sunxi) and after rebooting the (wired) network was dead. Everything looked fine, ethernet driver is loaded, interfaces were up and had IP addresses, but packets were not being sent. Pinging anything but the Banana Pi itself says "destination host unreachable". Routes were set and looked correct - even tho they should not even be necessary as I was pinging the gateway. tcpdump on eth0 showed nothing at all, almost as if the kernel doesn't know where to send the packets. Anyon…

Hello, friends. I am using legacy Armbian 3.x kernel on my development boards where I run Stella emulator with some special USB joystick. The joystick is detected as XBOX controller, hence I guess it uses xpad driver. The problem is that this driver is not present in the latest Armbian so this joystick does not work. I would like to use latest Armbian to have the latest packages, using it as a print/scan/radio server and would like also to play some Atari game from time to time. I tried to build it from the source using this https://github.com/paroj/xpad I can load it with modprobe, the joystick seems to be detected, but it is not working in Stella, I cannot eve…

Hi all, I recently bought a Banana BPI M2 Zero for a personal human-machine interaction project as this was the only (cheap) available option w.r.t. my specs (HDMI, entry-level OpenGL GPU, enough CPU power for the task). I got a version with Allwinner H3 (which in my view is good) and also read through the H3 buyer's guide. According to that guide, the CPU should be sourced by 1.3V, but to my (positive) surprise, I measured only 1.15V at the output coil (after the coil and against GND, of course) of the SY8113 regulator. However, there's certainly something not working as expected from the schematics: both, the SY8113 and the SY8089 1.2V regulators (SYSTEM+CPU…

Hello! I'm trying to make image for olinuxino lime A10. Prebuild image does not have /dev/uinput and /dev/hidraw for my touchscreen, and built without CONFIG_DRM_KMS_HELPER, so i can't replace broken EDID for my HDMI display. A month ago i succesfully build ubuntu image with uinput and hidraw support. But now - i need to rebuild it again, but kernel compilation fails with this error: LD drivers/media/usb/built-in.o LD drivers/media/built-in.o make: *** [drivers] Error 2 [ error ] Kernel was not built [ @host ] And I don't know where to find error description. The last error was missing libssl-dev. Regards.

Issue found! Orange PI changed eMMC from KLM8G1GETF to KLM8G1WEPD. The difference is eMMC 5.0 vs 5.1 and maybe more. The key things is that Armbian (checked using 5.35 and the latest one) does not see this memory (fdisk -l)!! I have noticed it on OPI0 Plus 2 H3. PCB boards are the same, only memory model no. difference. Someone solved it or noticed the same? Confused 🤨

Today I was going through my cupboard and did find a original pcDuino (v1) with A10-CPU and 1GB of Ram. In my mind I got the pcDuino v2 download-page of armbian. As JohnGo did wrote May 2016 on this page is a picture of the pcDuino v1: So I checked the specifications v1 <--> v2 and found ony that v2 has only a WiFi-Board soldered where on the v1 is a additionally USB-Port. Also the v1 is missing the Arduino-Headers, but has some other pin-rows for GPIO and so on. CPU (single-Core 1Ghz) and Ram (whopping 1GB for 2012) is the same I wrote the pcDuino v2 Image to a uSD and booted it without problems. (and changed /etc/upd…

I'm running what I believe is the latest experimental for the neo2 - 5.27.170601. This could well be a problem related to something that doesn't yet work in this build. I've built strongswan on the neo and everything built fine and installed. ipsec starts and I'm able to bring a tunnel up to a remote vpn server that I know is fine and is verified working from some other box with identical connection and key configuration that I'm using on the neo2. When the tunnel is brought up on the neo2 it seems I'm not able to get any traffic to flow i.e. curl api.ipify.org should return the public ip of the remote vpn server but it just hangs. When the tunnel…

Hi, just installed Armbian 5.38 mainline (both debian server or Ubuntu server fresh installation). There are two processs eating cpu (kworker), and I read some other users have the same issue, but there is a solution? Other problem: I use this board with Bluetooth dongle to monitor my solar plant. Sometimes Bluetooth dongle disappear from lsusb or hcitool scan tell me device is busy with no reason, just unplug and reconnect usb dongle and all restart to work again (tried with two different Bluetooth dongle, this dongle works with no problem at all in another orange pi pc, no disconnection or disappear). I am using Orange PI PC for running a Deluge (torrents) and FTP server. I have noticed that when Deluge is downloading something, the RAM is getting filled up. At some point the kswapd0 kicks in and start using 100% of one CPU core. This is going on until I manually release the memory, eather with reboot or with "echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches". Here you can see kswapd0 with "top": However, the kswapd0 is not visible on htop, but it shows one core at 100%. The memory usage is 111 MB. But "free -m" command shows that 865 MB of memory is used.

I need to run btrfs for a headless web server on an Opi PC. The armbian 3.4 kernel btrfs is too green to be used. I was able to install the 4.7.3 kernel (and remove the 3.4.x) using apt. I got btrfs and support for some USB devices, but lost HDMI and 3 cpu cores. Is there a better option I could try? This board seems to be running like a champ with just one core but I would like to have it fire on all 4 and have at least some video output if I wanted to. Is it ok to ask for recomends as to what board I might better choose? I require a modern Ubuntu/kernel, decent usb, decent network (gigabit if possible), and low cost. They will be used for personal cloud an…

I just recently acquired a few Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 boards. I need to get them working for a Bluetooth application. After a somewhat rough start with the WiFi they appear to be running smoothly now. The first problem I am noticing is that sata-nand-install does not exist on the distribution for the H5. Can anyone shed some light on what is necessary to get these boards to boot from eMMC? Is there anyone currently working on this problem? If not, what is the correct version of that script that I should download to begin trying to port it, and what utilities will I need to adapt to make it happen? Any advice on how to begin? Hello, guys, has anyone ever faced issues with SPI controller on BananaPi M2 ? I am having a weird issue which is confirmed by at least 2 peripherals: Waveshare 3.5 LCD and NRF24 wireless chip. The data incoming from MISO is always shifted by 1 bit to the left. , i.e. reading STATUS register of NRF24 gives 0x1C instead of expected value 0xE. The same story with other registers. Saleae logic analyzer is always showing correct pictures !!! See attached image as an example of reading STATUS register from NRF24: master is sending 0x07 and receiving 0x0E (14). I have tweaked byte rate and other parameters - no result. I have finally tried to connect using…

Thanks for your effort on this project. Much appreciated. I was able to follow this tutorial (10 minutes, 24 seconds in) on the Debian image to get the TV out working. I'm building scripts to modify the networking between a number of modes - super helpful to get a console access when I break something and lose all networking access. Is there support for this on the Ubuntu side? The simple "add 'tv' to the bottom of "/etc/modules" doesn't do anything. Please advise. Thanks!

I have tried a few different suggestions that I have seen online to implement wifi on Orange PC with a wifi dongle. However, none them can work reliably. OrangePi zero works but wifi speed is very slow (about 1-2Mbps). I recently tried using Raspberry Pi with wifi dongles. It is almost plug and play and very reliable. I hope there is a way to do the same on OPi. If anybody know one, please let me know. I will be happy to try it out and report back.

Hi guys, I've been having problems on my NanoPi Duo implementing a music streaming service using Alsa PCM to output the audio. When calling snd_pcm_open with the nonblock flag set, I had snd_pcm_writei returning a broken pipe error several times per day (when continuously playing). I noticed not setting this flag and, thus, allowing snd_pcm_writei to block until there was enough room in the Alsa PCM buffer, did not show this problem. This was however unusable because the blocking behaviour slowed down the rest of the software enough to be annoying. I think I solved it now by checking with snd_pcm_avail_update if there's enough room available, …

OrangePi PC Armbian 5.35 with LXDE desktop Firefox 57.0.1 I haven't done anything with my OPi for 6 months, so when I tried it again, it booted normally except for not looking quite right on my big HDMI screen. Hi, I'm here to dig into low power consumption with allwinner H6 boards, I own an OrangePi one plus and I'm already doing some tests. With an H3 board and legacy kernel I would simply tweak fex file to turn off the unnecessary, and there is already good material around this argument. But with mainline kernel there is no documentation about lowering power consumption. I would really appreciate some hints on how to tweak down consumption for H6 boards and mainline kernel, probably editing DT overlay or some other config/patch files, and re-building? I already tweaked the simplest things like: -Using fast ethernet instead of gigabit -Lowering max CPU frequency (…

Out of curiosity, and according to several articles/posts including this one http://forum.lemaker.org/thread-1847-1-1.html the A20 has support for hardware watchdogs. Has some successfully configured and used the watchdog kernel module sunxi_wdt.ko in a banana / lamobo R1?

Hello. Can't run x11 on Debian 11. I am using Nano Pi AIR (Allwiner h3). Since the board is not officially supported, I built the image on debian 11 myself. root@nanopiair:/# uname -a Linux nanopiair 5.15.44-sunxi #trunk SMP Wed Jun 8 08:41:04 UTC 2022 armv7l GNU/Linux The LCD is connected via SPI, chip is ili9486. Device tree file has been created, I can see the loading process and the console on the screen. I'm trying to start the X-server by "startx" from ssh session, but for some reason it ends immediately after the start. I tried using fbdev or fbturbo as driver. I also tried to remove the config with the driver in general (section "Devi…

In this post tkaiser says disabling HDMI and the GPU on H3 boards can reduce power consumption by 200mW. Is it possible to do this on a headless Orange Pi Zero 2+ H5? I don't believe I can use h3consumption or edit FEX files because I'm on the H5 mainline kernel. I tried setting monitor=none in armbianEnv.txt, but I didn't notice any appreciable difference using an inline USB power meter.

Hello all, The board has a 2MB NOR FLASH chip what would be enough for storing u-boot and booting the system over network. Unfortunately u-boot says there is no ethernet. Is there anybody who knows how to enable ethernet on this or similar board like OPi PC2 or Nanopi NEO2? Is it just a matter of configuration or is RTL8211E as PHY generally not supported on H5 chips? Thank you very much for your help. --DieHackbeere

I have tried 3 Orange Pi 3 images on my orange Pi 3 LTS. None of them will mount the root fs and continue booting. It shows btrfs, but the partition is ext4 and the armbianEnv.txt file has the correct UUID and ext4 stated. I can boot an image from the OrangePi website, so I am 99% certain it is not the power supply or sd card.
