Hello everybody! There was a problem, my OrangePI R1 with the Armbian Stretch OS running works in the access point + bridge mode (hostapd & bridge-utils), and when the client downloads a large file from the network, the RTWHALXT process loads the CPU by 100% and rtw_xmit_thread by 20% (watched using top) as a result, the processor freezes. How to fix it? Thanks in advance, sorry for my English I am from Uzbekistan.

Hi everyone, What I want to do is to use a DS18B20 through 1-Wire to read temperature on an OPi Zero. The sensor seems to be detected by the board (I see the file under /sys/bus/w1/devices/28-something), and then it disappears randomly after a reboot or a power cycle. (file goes away and obviously I can't get any readings). Then it starts working randomly again after an indefinite amount of reboots. I'm having this problem for a while now, and it's driving me absolutely crazy. This one here on the picture is the sensor I'm using. I have attached a 4.7K Ohm resistor between the VCC and Digital cables, and attache…

Hi, I just got a NanoPi Neo Plus2 for which I must prepare an image for our software. Basically I must have a working Ethernet-over-USB, Wifi and NIC. I started with your current Debian image compiled with uses Armbian v8.75 and Linux kernel v4.19.20. In this image Wifi works, but loading the g_ether module does not seem to work. I assume I need to patch the kernel to make this happen, which means I need to build my own images. So I created a Virtualbox environment as described in the documentation, and compiled an image with all the defaults (apart from a date-tag I add to the kernel name for identification). I installed the image to the eMMC and b…

Hi, I'm here to dig into low power consumption with allwinner H6 boards, I own an OrangePi one plus and I'm already doing some tests. With an H3 board and legacy kernel I would simply tweak fex file to turn off the unnecessary, and there is already good material around this argument. But with mainline kernel there is no documentation about lowering power consumption. I would really appreciate some hints on how to tweak down consumption for H6 boards and mainline kernel, probably editing DT overlay or some other config/patch files, and re-building? I already tweaked the simplest things like: -Using fast ethernet instead of gigabit -Lowering max CPU frequency (…

Hello, I'm buliding a music player for my old car using Orange Pi PC Plus. I would like to use external incoming logic levels (3.3V / 0V) to wake up the OPi from suspend state. Could you help me how to do that? Waking up using the HW button SW4 is working perfectly. I need to do this using external logic signal connected to PA11 / GPIO pin #5. I tried the following setting in fex editor: [gpio_power_key] key_used = 1 key_io = port:PA11<6><default><default><0> It doesn't work. I have a Orange PI PC Plus that isn't booting either from sd or emmc. I had really messed up some configuration, so I erased emmc. After I erased EMMC, I started to get this boot screen. https://photos.app.goo.gl/EbJX43eSATyqTEau8 If I insert a sd card in with the latest Armbian, I get no boot screen, or activity at all. In fact, even if I format the card, and insert it into the OP+ it gets no boot activity. It is only after that I remove the card that it can then boot from usb flash. I ended up writing the latest orangepiplus image to a usb flash drive, and am able to get it to boot via a flash drive. I did backup my microsd install a …

It is possible to drag backlight control slider to far left position and this completely dims the screen's backlight. This might cause a lot of trouble, if backlight levels get saved by systemd service, as it will persist across reboots and will require you to shine a flashlight on a screen to actually see something and turn backlight back on.

I've got an Orange Pi PC2, and I'm running some pretty CPU intensive tasks on it. However, I'm running into a situation where the processor is overheating and shutting down. I've got a bunch of OPiZero's, and on those I'm used to the kernel automatically throttling the CPU frequency down and/or shutting off cores in response to rising CPU temps -- but I'm not seeing that happen on the PC2 -- it just stays at max CPU speed until it overheats and shuts down. Is there a way to enable that same behavior on the PC2? (I'd rather it throttle down the CPU frequency instead of overheat...)

Greetings, can the NAS HAT for the Zero work on the Zero Plus2 H5? I have the Zero HAT, which connects to the Plus2 board, but when I connect a usb keyboard, it does not power it. Although a usb mouse lights up. I can't test the mouse fully because I'm using ubuntu server on the Plus2 which has no GUI. So again, is the problem that the Plus NAS HAT does not work on the Plus2? I see that there is a NAS HAT for the Plus2 with the same connectors that the Plus HAT has but it's smaller. Thanks in advance iomari

Hi, I am new here and searched the forums for an answer to my questions regarding the NanoPi NEO2 and NEO Plus2. Most answers I could find, but a few were left open. The NEO Plus2 is marked as WIP. Why? What do I have to expect not to work? Both boards are similarly old, from what I could find. Will the Plus2 move up to "supported" eventually or does it currently more look like the route is going towards CSC? Do common features like GPIO access, SPI, I2C ... work with current images? Do specific features where the Plus2 differs from the NEO2 like WiFi, Bluetooth, ... work? I already found out, that the second USB port should work…

After along time I downloaded a new armbian image, after doing apt update/upgrade for the last year or so. I was quite surprised to see that the pcduino3nano is now deprecated, while other A20 boards are still supported. What was the exact reason that the pcduino3nano was dropped from support? If I keep using the deprecated OS, can I fully use apt update/upgrade for all user stuff? What would happen to all kernel and u-boot update packages? Is the latest armbian for the pcduino3nano automatically disabling those updates, or do I need to do something manually? *should* I block kernel & u-boot updates? thanks, Michale Jasson

I'm trying to get the Orange Pi One Plus' OTG port to function in "otg" or "peripheral" mode. I've modified the device tree configuration to change the "dr_mode" from "host" to "peripheral". This works as long as the Orange Pi One Plus and the device are separated by a hub. If directly connected via an OTG cable/adapter the device instead charges from the Orange Pi One Plus. I assume this would be due to the OTG port acting as a power source rather than a power sink. However, after experimenting I've been unable to find a device tree configuration change the role of the vbus. Does anybody have any advice?

Hi! Just saw a new board from FriendlyARM - NanoPi R1 (https://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=69&product_id=248). It based on Allwinner H3, has dual Ethernet port, wi-fi and Bluetooth, USB, and onboard eMMC. Memory options are 512MB or 1GB. It comes in a case, just add power supply. Looks quite fun SBC for IoT and for micro router. I was unable to find Armbian images for this board. Could you please comment if is it possible to use images for other Allwinner H3 boards? Do you have any plans to support this board? Thank you in advance for your comments!

Via serial console I undid the change I made prior to the fateful reboot (adding 'overlays=uart1' to '/boot/armbianEnv.txt') and rebooted again, but to no avail. Having searched for the issue, I also confirmed that my power supply is sufficient; running 'stress -c 2 -m 2', and measuring across pins 2 (5V) and 6 (GND) of the 40-pin header, I get 5.05V. As I don't have a network connection, I did not run 'sudo armbianmonitor -u', but I gathered the following …

Not sure if this is the right forum, or it should be under board bringup.... I have a few Duo2 boards running with the FriendlyElec image, but my OrangePi boards all run Armbian... I do prefer Armbian :-) . Playing around a little I can get the Nanopi Neo Air image running, but not with the wired ethernet. (My boards reside on my own design with a ethernet jack, which works perfect with the FE/FA image) I have the Armbian build environment running in a VM, and can compile my own kernel etc. ButI need a few pointers how to get the right board config in the image/kernel.... Or... Does someone already have a build setup running for the Duo2, who is willing to …

Hello, I've been using an OrangePi PC with legacy distribution for a long time as a mini-server, it worked Ok except for some seemingly random freeze. I'm using it with an unsupported monitor size (1600x1200), so I had a modded version, and I never updated the system files to avoid having to recompile. I'd like to update Armbian to the mainline kernel version, but I want to keep all my settings/additions/installed programs, so I'd prefer to NOT do a complete re-install. Is there a way to do an upgrade without losing everything?? If not, how can I keep track of all the modifications currently installed so I can re-install them? TIA

I have noticed a very weird problem: connection works for some time (several hours or sometimes days) and then stops. Once it stopped working (connection between my mobile app and OrangePi) I have checked on the board: - ping 8.8.8.8 - OK - ping (router IP) - OK - ping (broadcast ) - FAILED - ping (PC or any other device connected to the network) - FAILED In all cases, Wireshark captures the ping requests. Once I tried to ping OrangePi board from my PC, I see in&out ping packet on OPI board by Wireshark. It seems like some lower layer or router (the same on two different) blocks the outgoing connection. Ideas? (WiFi power management off, no fir…

Hi everyone ! I'm starting this new dedicated thread because I've got some new headache about this issue that we tried to figured out since months... I've received my PineH64 last week, and with this board I don't faced the reboot hang behaviour ! Today, since I've committed the OPi3 WIP scripts, and facing same reboot hang, I've decided to to try booting PineH64 image on this OPi3 board, but unfortunately reboot hang still occurs ... This brings me to a conclusion that it is not a software issue, but maybe hardware one ... I will dig on that during next few days by comparing PMIC and other between all those boards ... …

Hey all, I understand these things are in active development at the moment. I was attempting to use the usb 3.0 socket on the lite 2 with stretch, except it did not respond at all - looking at dmesg shows the following error: [ 1.806055] sun4i-usb-phy 5100400.phy: Couldn't get regulator usb0_vbus... Deferring probe [ 1.806320] sun50i-usb3-phy 5210000.phy: failed to get phy clock which from my limited experience with linux kernel seems to indicate that the device tree config may be incorrect for the board - as most searching for these errors show the code added as part of updates to get the pine64 board's usb 3.0 stack working. USB 2.0 sock…

I use OrangePi R1 with connected RS485-TTL module to UART1 (PG6, PG7). RS485 communicates with a heatpump. Heatpump transmits data to RS485 module and I read and decode the data with a program and make some ACK replies. Everything worked fine for a month till OrangePi Power Adapter died. I have replaced Power Adapter and my program now stopped working. I have already spent couple days debugging. Replaced the cable from the heatpump to RS485-TTL module. Tried to see what is happening on the RS485 line with oscilloscope. Start of the diagram always looks good, but the end is skewed and corrupt. It seems like RS485 tries to send data while it receives and ce…

As title says, how to install image on eMMC on this board? My board works fine on TF card with every image FriendlyElec, DietPi and you here provide, but i haven't managed to make it boot from eMMC. On official Wiki there are some misleading. For Ubuntu they say to select image from eflasher and burn it on TF card. Eflasher folder has two images. Which one? Although i tried both. Anyway, if i burn boot image on TF card, should eMMC stays empty or to burn on it, say, root image? Or to burn root image on TF? I had a few attempts but no luck. Obviously. On Android, they say to insert TF card into PC and burn image on eMMC? LOL. Again should i burn any…

I'm not sure I even want BakeBit. I'm trying to use the GPIO in my NanoPi Neo2. Specifically I want to read a digital I/O pin on/off state. And if possible I'd like to read an analog voltage from the H5's built in ADC. Now that I've looked deeper into BakeBit, it seems like the entire purpose of BakeBit is to do GPIO with an Arduino, and read the information remotely on a RbPi/NanoPi or whatever ON the Arduino's GPIO pins. If that is really what BakeBit is, then BakeBit doesn't interest me. The H5 already has GPIO and an ADC. We just need to get that working. For interest's sake, here is the progress I made with BakeBit. ADC Python example in Bakebit h…

Hi all, Running Armbian Ubuntu 18.04 with stock neo2 4.19.20 kernel I tried installing https://github.com/friendlyarm/WiringNP but after installation `gpio readall` says : "This NanoPi model is currently not supported." However all the wiki's and the Github page says it's supported.......? I can see GPIO in the sys fs at /sys/class/gpio/ but I was hoping to have an easier time with it than manually exporting each pin and calculating offsets for pins with scraps of info online etc. Objective 1: Read a high/low 3.3v/0v status from a GPIO Objective 2: Read an analog voltage, using an ADC. Does the H5 include an ADC? When I look i…

I tried to reinstall the newest versions of both Ubuntu Bionic and Debian Stretch, both show this problem. The old VGA monitor is used only for maintenance work on my home server and off most of the time, it would be a shame if I had to buy a new HDMI monitor for this purpose. What is going on? (Edit: it's a red herring for me to worry about swap. Please see a few posts down...) Hello. My NanoPi Neo 2 only has 512MB RAM. I'm using it for OpenMediaVault. I know how to create and work with traditional linux swap files. I'm a noob to this whole zram thing, which I suspect is more trouble than it's worth. I would prefer to not use zram, and use a traditional swap file on an attached 6TB 3.5" SATA drive (attached over USB 2.0 with UAS). It's a backup dri…
