Hi All, I did my best to sort the following issues out by searching the web / forum with no success. Please forgive me in advance if topic was already covered. I have a cubietruck running mainline kernel and have installed a LiPo battery. I can get info about the battery by catting /sys/class/power_supply/axp20x-battery contents. However, some things are weird ; - capacity reports 0 (but bat is charged) - voltage_now reports 4.5V (abnormal for a LiPo) while voltage_max says 4.2V (which is normal) - status says discharging even when on mains - ssh motd does not show battery status (btw 30-armbian-sysinfo seems to poi…

I bought an OPi Zero, the extension board, a 1/8-to-rca audio/video cable to plug into the AV jack of the extension board, and a 16 GB SDHC card. Loaded Armbian Stretch onto it, plugged in ethernet without any of the AV stuff just to start. The Pi doesn't even show up on my router settings so I cannot access it via Putty or any other SSH program. I turn it off, attach the extension board and av cable, and plug it into the TV in the hopes that I can start working on something with a USB keyboard...nothing shows up on the TV. I'm hoping that's a software issue and not an issue with the actual extension board I bought. I know for a fact it's loading Armbian because I can act…

Hi, I'm using an hdd at my cubietruck and moved the root-fs to hdd. Now I'm wondering, whether it would be better, to change the commit settings in /etc/fstab to a lower value than 600? I assume, the 600 was meant for data on a flash storage in order to reduce the writes on it!? But in order to keep "things in sync", shouldn't I better reduce it? Or delete the whole commit option? What do you mean? Thanks and best regards, Jochen

I'm using a NanoPI NEO (v1.31 Lite, 512M RAM) which has an Allwinner H3 cpu; running Armbian Stretch from here: https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-neo/ When changing the init system from the default systemd to sysV init as described at http://without-systemd.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_remove_systemd_from_a_Debian_Stretch_installation on the next boot, the boot process freezes. Installing the package sysvinit-core conflicts with systemd-sysv, depending on which resolution I choose (install systemd-shim and some libraries, or remove systemd-sysv and NetworkManager), the boot process freezes at one of the following 3 lines: [....] Starti…

Hi guys! I have some trouble with my Lime 2. My original setup: Armbian 5.38 +4.14.18-sunxi software installed: Pihole V3.0 with dnsmasq dhcp enabled. SD : a fresh Samsung Micro SDHC 32GB EVO power-supply : a 5V power-supply adaptor Current behaviour: After [1~4] days the my board disapear of my network. With dnsmasq dhcp server disabled, there are no problème. My guess: their are some troubles between the dhcp and Armbian. Indeed in tried to setup a isc-dhcp-server to remplace the Pihole dhcp without success. (Same behaviour) You could see my search on Pihole forum here …

Hi, just a quick sanity check - is install to eMMC on pinebook known to be working (with recent Armbian images from the wip section), and is nand-sata-install the right way to do it? It just occurred to me that I might be spinning my wheels trying to figure out something that just isn't ready yet Thanks, James

Hi, With an Orange Pi Zero Plus I‘d like to run a DLNA (UPnP) music server for streaming flac files - means music only - to certain clients via LAN, for instance a network AV receiver. Therefore, 100 MBit/s should be sufficient. How to limit the OPi0+ network speed to 100 MBit? And to switch off Wifi also? ... ... for minimizing power consumption. Presupposed Armbian + OMV (+ miniDLNA plugin) installed. Thanks, Joe

I have an Orange Pi Plus 2E I'm using as a cheap desktop computer/kiosk. I want to run Armbian on eMMC but use an SD card for file storage. If I boot off the eMMC, then insert an SD card (formatted as ext4) after boot, the system works well. But if I boot off the eMMC with the SD storage card in the card slot at boot, the CPU load increases and performance lags. Here's the output of armbianmonitor without an SD card, with two Firefox windows and a terminal window open while streaming audio using Audacious: Time CPU load %cpu %sys %usr %nice %io %irq CPU C.St. 06:18:26: 1296MHz 1.10 25% 3% 21% 0% 0% 0% 54.1°C 0/9 06:1…

Hi, I am trying to write a program which will detect the presence of SD Card in Nano Pi M1 plus device. There are many ways to do this either by doing fdisk -l or looking into /dev/mmcblk* . But I want to keep running it in a loop and doing fdisk -l and grep doesn't seems an appropriate way. Can the insertion or removal of SD cards be checked via Hardware Interrupts? Plz. help me I am a newbie.

Hi, I recently read from github testings of orange pi lite2 testing that wireless is working. But I download from the official website of https://dl.armbian.com/orangepilite2/Debian_stretch_dev_nightly.7z(built 0824) and burn it, it starts, but the wireless is missing. I also read that the firmware added ap6255 wireless driver, so I download https://beta.armbian.com/pool/main/a/armbian-firmware-full/armbian-firmware-full_5.59.180915_all.deb and installed it. After reboot, the wireless is still missing. So the support of wireless is built-in or usb? Should I build armbian myself with the lastest code to support the built-in wireless? Thank you.

I've tried both revisions (Bionic and Stretch) for this board located at: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/ Both have the same issue. When I boot from sd card, run armbian-config, and attempt to transfer armbian OS to emmc I get an error 'no target'. I know that there is indeed built 8GB flash, because when I pull the sdcard, and power the board it boots into the pre-configured android OS. Here is a picture I took of the board: https://photos.app.goo.gl/5ELPTTnPbZXAybhe9 Any advise would be helpful. Thank You.

Hello, The NanoPi Neo 2 has an H5 SoC. When I look at the Linux mainlining effort chart at Sunxi, I see that Ethernet support for the H5 only came in the 4.15 kernel. But the kernel in the Armbian downloads for the NanoPi Neo 2 only have the 4.14.y kernel. So can one expect the GbE to work, on a NanoPi Neo 2, with the current Armbian (Bionic or Stretch)? Maybe you already backport the 4.15 Ethernet-related code (for the H5) into that 4.14.y kernel?

Checking in... NanoPi-NEO v.1.31 with the OLED hat... need to be a bit specific as there are multiple HW revs of the NEO - v1.2 and later moved from LDO to a DC/DC regulator, so info from 1.0/1.1 might not be accurate these days - still sorting out the regulator in use, as there are a couple of options with Allwinner H3 there. I think it's the SY8113B, but hard to tell... Testing with Armbian 5.61 vs. FriendlyArm's 4.14.52 build for their OLED hat (I'd source a direct link, but they have two source - baidu and google drive) -- The friendlyarm image is pretty good with temps on the 4.14.52 kernel, typically around 31-33c idle, and I've not seen temp…

Hi, After installing latest version of Armbian 5.59 Stretch, I found that CPU temperature was shooting up too high, and I figured out that the GPIOL6 controlling the VDD_CPUX between 1.1V and 1.3V is not set properly as a result the Pullup resistor R455 is holding the FET gate always high and it is always running by default at 1.3V, even though scaling_max_freq was set 912MHz. After manually switching the GPIO to OUTPUT_LOW the temperatures aren't going that high anymore. Just thought the DEVs should know. Thanks

I'm trying to configure the RTL8189FTV module on an Orange Pi+ 2E in SoftAP + STA mode so I can use it as wifi hotspot. According to this old document from Realtek (http://www.ofeixin.com/downloadRepository/8da8dda7-6721-4ac8-a7db-47cc4d9b218c.pdf), it's possible to do so using an RTL8189ETV, so I'm assuming it's possible on the RTL8189FTV, too. The default driver doesn't allow concurrent connections like this, tho, so it must be recompiled. I downloaded the source recommended on the sunxi wiki (http://linux-sunxi.org/Wifi#RTL8189FTV): git clone https://github.com/jwrdegoede/rtl8189ES_linux.git cd rtl8189ES_linux git checkout -B rtl8189fs origin/rtl8189f…

I am sorry but even after long searching I could not find out how to enable internal pull up resistors in an A20. I am on a BananaPro with Bionic, kernel 4.14.70. I want to use the pull ups on I2C-1. Presumably it is quite easy. I know that internal pull resistors are usually too weak for I2C, but the I2C is only connected to an external level shifter since all connected I2C devices have 5V lines. So the internal resistors should be sufficient, and the expansion board is working reliably on an old Rapsberry model B with internal pull ups. So, how can I enable internal pullups? The I2C-1 overlay seems not to have an option for that. Can it be done via dev…

I've been using an OrangePi Zero hw rev. 1.5 for a few months with no issues, using the Stretch mainline image (4.x kernel). Suddenly the filesystem became read-only. I thought it was a SD card issue so I burned a fresh armbian to a new card. But the device does not show up in the DHCP pool with an allocated IP. Being withought a HDMI connector, an OPi Zero must be accessed via SSH. I've tried all versions, mainline and legacy. Only with Jessie legacy image, it gets an IP from the DHCP pool just on the very first boot. After that, it does not show up. I've tried the images provided by OrangePI and their Ubuntu and Raspbian images work. They have Ub…

Armbian_5.59_Nanopineo2_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.14.65.img does not see the sound codec at all. Hi, I have an Orange Pi Plus 2e and I've installed Armbian_5.59_Orangepiplus2e_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop. I need to play four hd videos at the same time. I could do it with Raspberry pi3 model B with 720M GPU memory. I played videos with MPV with X11 but couldn't play with VPDAU. It is just played only one video. What can I do? Can I set GPU memory? Thank you.

I've installed a bootable Armbian Ubuntu on an SD card. I plan to copy the SD's OS into multiple OPI PC+ devices. Hi, Today I encountered for the second time a strange behavior on my Orange Pi PC running Armbian 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.18-sunxi and decided to ask here. The OPI PC is working properly for a few weeks (one to three, typically) and suddenly I cannot access it via SSH or UART anymore. When trying to connect with SSH, the connection hangs after entering the password and after a while the connection timeouts. Tried SSHing from regular Linux shell and from PuTTY under Windows. I regularly use a key to log in the Opi PC, but it doesn't work, too. Trying to connect with the UART (via minicom in Linux or PuTTY in Windows) …

Hi, i try config NanoPi M1 Plus to CVBS output. What i did: 1. Install legacy image from armbian 5.59 (kernel 3.4.y) 2. Used armbian-config to edit boot script: [disp_init] disp_mode = 1 screen1_output_type = 2 screen1_output_mode = 11 [tv_para] tv_used = 1 3. Added module tv into /etc/modules: #w1-sunxi #w1-gpio #w1-therm #sunxi-cir hci_uart rfcomm hidp dhd tv So far, i got only black screen on TV (no video, no audio). When i had config disp_out to HDMI, it worked fine. What i need config to enable TV out? Why it not working? Can anybody help me? Seems, i haven`t tv module... modinfo tv return modinfo: ERROR: M…

Hi!!! I am planning to buy Orange Pi PC but I saw that it has thermal issues because of overclocking/overvolting. My question is, Is armbian able to fix this problem??? ------Sorry...I am new to Single Board Computers----- Another thing, If Armbian isn't helpful about it, Does Orange Pi PC2 differ from it's predecessor??(I mean in thermal issues)... Thanks To You!!

Hi all, as in title, gpio not work on latest Lime2 5.59 built from source using mainline 4.14.70 kernel and debian stretch. I can export correctly the gpios in sysfs but i cant get the right value. They always remain the same value. I've tried both pulled up and internal pulled up (active low) gpios with the same result. Also gpio buttons defined in dtc do not work. Any idea?

Hi guys, I was running my Orange Pi Zero Plus perfectly on the dev channel but I did an apt upgrade the other day and it seems to have broken something. I hooked it up to a usb serial device and here's the log: https://pastebin.com/jiB9TZdh Any ideas on how I can fix this? I can interrupt the boot process and I get to a screen where I can run limited commands but I'm not sure what to do at that point. I'm thinking it might be easier to just reflash and start again. This post is mainly for the devs to let them know there might be an issue with one of the kernels? Cheers.

I just flashed https://dl.armbian.com/nanopiduo/Ubuntu_bionic_next.7z and it doesn't appear to detect the onboard wifi. ip a only shows lo and eth0. I'm going to try the expansion board with Ethernet onboard and see what shows up. OK, just tried this on a adapter board with Ethernet and now there's an eth0 and Wired Connection 1. It appears the eth0 is really the wifi adapter, but nmtui treats it like an Ethernet connection. Same issue with https://dl.armbian.com/nanopiduo/Debian_stretch_next.7z Wifi not detected, but eth0 is detected instead of wlan0.

orange pi one H3 idles somewhat warm in part due to a power regulator that switches only between 1.1 and 1.3 v. orange pi pc could idle at pretty low temperatures (closer to room without a heat sink due to a better power regulator as well), and the h3 runs rather hot say > 70deg C when under loads the trouble is the SOC die is 14x14mm, and if one wants to use a large heat sink, it wouldn't fit and you would need to use the copper shim method, to provide some clearance to fit a large heat sink that is troublesome and hence , i made do and made an attempt to try out *small* heat sinks, e.g. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10pcs-Computer-Cooler-Rad…

Hello all, Firstly, a huge thank you to Igor and team for Armbian, I love it and appreciate you for the effort and time you have dedicated to this amazing project, thank you. I have used Armbian on Cubieboard II for a number of years now, running my main server with QuadlogSCADA for my off-grid renewable system at my home. Now, I have had an Olimex LIME-2 eMMC4GB board sitting idle for a while on the corner of my desk and over the past few weeks have been inspired to do some programming with it. So, on this LIME2 board, I have the latest nightly builds, installed to eMMC, all working fine so far. Then, I though to connect a standard 20x4 ch…

hi, i'm trying to run docker on an orange pi +2E, using armbian xenial well, using default legacy kernel, i can see /dev/spi* and /dev/i2c* and the like BUT i can't have docker-ce running with this kernel... so i swapped to the DEV kernel, now i've setup docker-ce but lost completely the hw support... which is the best setup to have both, so i can pass local hw devices to docker containers and have access to gpio and serial? thanks

Hello, I'm running rsync to backup a VPS to an USB hard drive on the neo2 and sometimes rsync just stops with "read error from input device (I/O error)". I believe this issue happens when rsync is causing high load in the USB disk, writing or removing a large number of files or trying to write a big file. Notes: The hard drive is on a self powered enclosure - so power failure is not really an option here I also have Apache and mariadb storing data on the USB disk and I never had this kind of I/O errors with it OS: Debian GNU/Linux 9.4 (stretch) Drive is ext4 Whenever rysnc stops I get this under /var/log/messages:…

Hi when I use the orangepi PC plus TRRS audio output (analog), I have some glitches which are linked to the video mouvment. I've tested the connection between ground and video and it seems that on the left ground pin there is a natural link with video output (50 ohms), is this normal? my cable is a 4 pole TRRS. I even tested audio with cable directly plug on soldering but same result. How could I get a clean audio output? note that the hdmi audio output is clean. and my speaker system is clean if I plug it on a MP3 player with an audio jack. I use retrorangepi 4.2 which is based upon Armbian v5.54 (default legacy kernel)

I have tested the orange pi one xenial. When I say test it is not benchmark tests. I do not know what the numbers say anyway. I open several common programs and watch what htop says. If I run an mp4 file on a media player, libre office and file manager it runs well and htop says about 300mb. It is a 10usd computer and I do not expect it to equal a x86 desktop. If I open firefox, firefox crashes before starting. Because of not enough ram? If I open chromium or midori ram usage goes to 100%. Cpu does not. You cannot really browse sites very well. Youtube videos is the same. Is it becuase 512mb ram is not enough? On my gnulinux x86 n…

Hello fellas, I would like to borrow your experience to compete with my task which counts (and measures) pulses on GPIO with Orange Pi zero. Currently, my simple solution is to register a callback to a specific edge and increment a global variable. I would like to catch a few hundreds of pulses in one burst which have in a 5-100 us length. However, even the number of counted pulses is not okay. Some of them are missed sometimes, which leads to an unreliable solution. I used different libs and all of them fall into the same issue. I tried the following libs: * ArmbianIO (C) * ArmbianIO (Python: origina…

Hello all, The board has a 2MB NOR FLASH chip what would be enough for storing u-boot and booting the system over network. Unfortunately u-boot says there is no ethernet. Is there anybody who knows how to enable ethernet on this or similar board like OPi PC2 or Nanopi NEO2? Is it just a matter of configuration or is RTL8211E as PHY generally not supported on H5 chips? Thank you very much for your help. --DieHackbeere

Dear mainline developers, I'm writing a (mainline) SPI driver for de ads131 from TI which I would like to make use of DMA, on the orangePIzero H2, zero+ H3/H5 and nanopi NEO2+. On the 4.13.3-sunxi kernel (armbian 5.33), this works fine, the driver is automatically loaded when the associated devicetree overlay is loaded, and the DMA can be allocated. However, when I compile the same driver for newer kernels (4.14.17-sunxi, 4.14.39-sunxi, 4.14.67-sunxi armbian 5.59), the dma allocation no longer appears to work, while the SPI part of the devicetree is identical except for the phandle (checked with dtc -I fs /sys/firmware/devicetree/base on newest 4.14.67-sunxi kerne…

Hi. I am having this issue with Orange PI PC. If it boots up when the TV it connects to over HDMI is off, I am getting blank pink screen. I guess it is because it chooses different video output when TV isn't detected. Raspbian forums suggest disabling "HDMI hotplug" by editing /boot/config.txt , but Armbian hasn't got this file. Please share your suggestions as this TV is on the wall in my kid's school at 2m height - and if it reboots due to short power failure, it needs a ladder to get fixed. Please help me before school year starts

I have the gc2035 camera working on my Orange Pi One running Armbian, but I need a better image sensor. I've had a quick attempt to get an ov5640 working without any luck. It is a popular 5Mpixel module similar to the RPi camera. I know that 'Sitheek' on the Orange Pi forums had it working. However, that place is a ghost town now and Sitheek has not visited since January. So, I wonder if anyone here has got an OV5640 camera working, or failing that, could just offer some pointers on how to go about this? Thanks.

Hi everybody, I am looking for some advice and help for troubleshooting. Here is the current situation regarding my cubietruck: I have installed Armbian Stretch (mainline kernel 4.14.y or 4.17.y) from here https://www.armbian.com/cubietruck/ on a SD-card using etcher on Ubuntu. If I power up the cubietruck 3 out of 5 times it won't boot. If it starts I can just fine ssh into the system and everything seems to be o.k. But after some time if I start to do something e.g. apt-get update / apt-get upgrade the system will freeze at some point. If i let the cubietruck on it's own it'll run for several hours without freezing. So the problem seems to be related eith…

Hello! I want to connect to the I2S the DAC PT8211. But it has an another coding format - left justified (Sony) 16 bit. I have already put a 16-bit frame in script.fex, but I can not do the LJ. On the test sine signal, the tip of the sine is turned upside down. Tell me how to change the output format of the stream from I2S to the Japaneese Left Justify? This part of my fex: [pcm0] daudio_used = 1 daudio_master = 1 daudio_select = 1 audio_format = 0 signal_inversion = 1 mclk_fs = 64 sample_resolution = 16 slot_width_select = 16 pcm_lrck_period = 16 pcm_lrckr_period = 1 msb_lsb_first = 0 sign_extend = 0 slo…

Hello, I installed ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.14-sunxi on H3 OpiZeroPlus2 board and temperature is 60C (just after boot, nothing is running, CPU 0.5%) Is it normal? P.S. I saw overheating problem on H2+ OPi boards, but no idea if H3 also suffers from this.

Hello, I'm looking for an efficient way to update the eMMC-memory of multiple NanoPi NEO Air's (roll out a production image). I was thinking about integrating my own image in to the eflasher from FriendlyElec but then found this possibility to access the integrated memory via USB-OTG and FEL. https://forum.armbian.com/topic/1580-nanopi-neo-air/?page=9 Wherefore basically two repos are used: sunxi-tools fel-mass-storage I tried following the instructions, build and installed the sunxi-tools (sunxi-fel) and used "dd" to copy "fel-sdboot.img" to an empty SD card. For testing I took a brand new NanoPi NEO Air, connected UART0 with my P…

I've got a LeMaker Banana Pi Pro board, with LeMaker Banana Pi Pro Camera V1.0 which is a ov5640 module. I think there are some on-line manuals from official LeMaker, for instance: http://wiki.lemaker.org/BananaPro/Pi:Camera_Module . However, it seems Armbian_5.59_Bananapipro_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.14.65 hasn't provided such a ov5640 driver module for me to load? Where can I find the ov5640 driver module ? Cheers Pei
