SBC is banana pi M1 I tried the banana pi at church today, things went great as for the Libreoffice impress presentations but it was hard to navigate to menus because the banana's resolution was set to 1920X1080p. Everything was too small in the projector, we need something like 1280X1024 or 800X600. I tried `a10disp changehdmimodeforce 4` to change it to 720P, on the projector but display became unstable and I had to reboot to get it back. We have two modes for projector, VGA (HDMI->VGA converter cable) or plain HDMI. Today I tried the VGA but we can also do HDMI. Please help. Thanks.

Hello, I use the BananaPi M1 as network bridge with tranparent http proxy and filter with 2nd ethernet (USB adapter with AX88179 Gigabit Ethernet). But since latest update with kernel update, the network seemce to be go down often or the sytem is going bad. I can't find any solution and need some help. If you need some more information, please tell me what I should send. Thank you! Edit: The system is stuck on reboot... have to put of the power.

Well it took me longer than i hoped but i have managed to forward port icenowys code for TVE on the H2+/H3 to mainline armbian. It seems to work totally fine, with a few caveats. First: Sample images of it in action -> https://imgur.com/a/vXQEM Second: the patch itself -> https://github.com/stevenj/h3-tve/tree/v0.0.11 Third a prebuilt image for Orange Pi Zero: -> https://github.com/stevenj/h3-tve/releases/tag/v0.0.11 Howto: just put the patch into userpatches for the sunxi-next kernel, and build. it should apply cleanly. Its for H2+/H3. I have only tried it on a orange pi zero, but it should work on all H2+/H3 boards. …

Hello, I'm following this project : I was recently spending time on the activities to do with children, 3D printing and robotics, and in order to be able to try to follow https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ i have bought a new laptop which respect the requirements (SSD, ram...). So now my next goal is to try to make a custom version of armbian dedicated to the schools. To start, for the first step, I would like to try make a localized version of armbian in French by default, in order to be more easier for the French speaking user. With the new evolutions of armbian for OrangePiPC+, there is an ubuntu…

Hello. I install the 5.35 Version on a OrangePiPc+, all run in good condition. I upgrade to the 5.38 without problem (kernel 3.x) I upgrade the kernel to 4.x, so long as i didn't reboot, all is in function (with Ubuntu) and my USB Tevii 662 is recognized (and run with TVHeadend). After reboot, no Ethernet and no USB, no possibility to login. I tried all versions with kernel 4.x, even desktop, no function. Anyone has a idea, how it will be run??? Thank's for any idea. P.S. Hi all, can some kind soul tell me if this update will break my cubieboard installation? (I know that cubieboard a10 is no longer supported, nevertheless maybe someone can tell me after 5 seconds of thinking "yes" or "no" :)). Keep also in mind that locking is deactivated, so don't depend on the relevance to the real current situation! Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Hello ! I know that there are already topic talking about that, but they didn't helped me. I have Armbian 5.38 Desktop. I plugged the camera, and I think it's on the right side: I followed instruction of Garlic here: Nevertheless, with motion I get a grey screen telling me that the camera is undetected: I noticed a very small impact on the cable after the delivery of the camera, but because it is very small, I don't think it's the cause. I don't understand, and any help is welcome. Thank you !

Hi all, I have an application running on an orange pi pc plus 2 over the emmc 8gb memory. Everything is in there (os, db sw) and what it does is acquiring data from some sensors and then pushing it over mqtt to a server. Now, due to frequent internet connection issues, the board is able to store up to ~ 1 month of data in a local db but this means quite a lot of writes per seconds (plus all the logs). I would like to have an idea of how much the emmc can keep up with this rates and thus I am trying to understand how to calculate the life span in years (hopefully nothing less). Can anyone help me on how to do that? I am using right …

Hello. this is my first post. I was looking through the forum but I did not find a similar problem. About power supply - until now I did not have any problems, I use a computer power supply. After a few months of non-use of my device, I downloaded an updated, latest version (Armbian_5.38_Lime2_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop) to an old, previously functioning card. When I connected the device, it did not turn on. I tried to turn it on manually, but nothing happened except the short flash on the connected mouse. A while ago, I uploaded an older desktop version to NAND. I used the sd card to start up. Is it possible that this older version loaded on NAND c…

I'm trying to follow this tutorial here https://www.pyimagesearch.com/2015/07/27/installing-opencv-3-0-for-both-python-2-7-and-python-3-on-your-raspberry-pi-2/ but nothing I do works when I get to install numpy, opencv, or darknet. When I try to build OpenCV following default instructions (or any for that matter) I get: don't know what to do and there's nothing online that helps me out. the only thing that worked was apt-get install python-opencv but it installs a very old version which I can't use for my project. Also when I try to make darknet I get:

Hello, I have decided to try out Ubuntu 16.04 legacy on my original banana pi for the first time and to my surprise the first problem I noticed is that the usb ports weren't working at all. I tried two keyboards which are working fine on all my Linux computers all running on mint 18.3 (logiItech k360, and insignia nsc5011-c) they are both wireless keyboard + mouse combos they did not work at all on the banana. I previously had bananian on it prior to today and all usb ports were working fine as I was able to connect external usb hard drives to it. I decided to connect the banana to my LAN and ssh to it from my laptop, did an apt update…

Hi, I was wondering if anyone was having issues with the ethernet port using the legacy kernel ? It does seem to kind of work ... it will get DHCP from the router and configure the routing tables etc but after that it goes wonky. When I do a ping test from the router I get "50/50 transmitted, 15/50 received, 70% loss". A ping test from the opi-win to the router gets a similar result. If I try a ping/ssh from a PC connected to the router I get a 95% packet loss Everything else seems to work fine ... HDMI, USB, WiFi (AP/STA modes) which is really, really nice. Thanks TB

Samba Service work normal. Then i have look at the Banana and the green LED was lightning constant and no heartbeat blinking. Maybe the trouble was because in a few meters distance sawed with a circular saw. Has perhaps caused interference or power fluctuations. No idea and maybe just coincidence. I'm trying to get a 4K 5.5" LCD to work (only console mode needed ) . U-boot can get it on at the desired resolution : 2160x3840 ( yes it's a portrait mode ) and display correctly . Seems that U-boot is reporting the correct information to set up simpleFB , but I don't get any display after kernel loading . The display adapter (HDMI>MIPI) have 3 options ( switching between 3 different EDID ) , the 2 others are working correctly ( 1080x1920 , 1440x2560 ) . I 'm wondering if this is related to simpleFB limitation , or memory allocation ... problem is that I'm a complete noob ... I can provide any information needed as long as you tell me what…

Hey. I got an orange pi zero + 2 that I'm trying to run armbian on. I've downloaded the both the ubuntu and debian server, and installed to the sd card using Etcher. It boots, but when the boot process reaches "starting kernel", it reboots, and keeps in that loop. Here's a link to a screenshot of what's shown on screen just before it reboots: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xt6ebsdzi0nkf19/Fil 19-02-2018 18.12.04.jpeg?dl=0 I've also tried the images listed on orange pi's own website. They boot up fine to a working desktop. Any help?

I'am running a PiOne with 4.14.14 Stretch. I have installed acpid and give the command acpi_listen When pussing the button in Stretch and I didn't see any logging. With the old kernel in 5.38 Jessie on the same PiOne I saw button/power PBTN 00000080 00000000 button/power PBTN 00000080 00000000 button/power PBTN 00000080 00000000 In the output of dtc /boot/dtb/sun8i-h3-orangepi-one.dtb I saw key_pins@0 { pins = "PL3"; function = "gpio_in"; linux, phandle = <0x39>; phandle = <0x39>; }; Means gpio_in defined as an input? Is the button function not yet implemented in 4.14.14? Or is something going wrong?

Hi every body, I have a Orangepi Plus 2E as you know with 16GB eMMC. Have installed armbian via SDCard before and executed nand-sata-install to copy it to eMMC. But currently need to get an image to install on another one. So there must be an opposite action like install_to_sdcard (in raspbian) but I couldn't find it.

Hi I've downloaded v5.38 firmware for my Cubietruck device and replaced on an older version due to my problem with new updates. Etcher was my tool for writing image on SD card and i have cleared SD card before writing new image. When new image installed and device booted up, but WiFi is not working and WiFi module is neither listed in lsmodule output nor module list file. It seems that WiFi driver is not installed or WiFi hardware is not detected. Is there any way to fix this issue? @Igor

Hi there, I'm trying to run luma.examples using an SSD1322 display via an SPI interface. I think I got the wiring right but the software is responding with errors. The app is expecting D/C and RESET parameter via a GPIO pin numbers to control the display.. I'm not sure how the Nano PI NEO Air physical pins are mapped to a GPIO port under Armbian. Where can I get a list of mappings for the physical pins to the GPIO pin numbers? How does this work? Is this an OS specific thing? Thanks in advance. I tried to build the armbian on my Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 to work on my astro project. I'd like to share it here in case anyone is encountering the same. Hi, I have been working on this problem for a few days. I have a orangepi plus2e and orange pi 5'' lcd. When I make all the connections and give power to the orangepi, I can not see anything on the LCD. At first only a white light comes out. Later on, I looked at the 5 inch screen produced by OrangePi with 640x480 resolution and the LCD settings on the H3 boards. I tried to set the resolution with the h3disp command, but I did not see the proper resolution. I did these on a different computer screen, and when I changed the resolution, nothing appeared on this screen.

The pcduino discussions appear to be centred here and the A10 appears to be a cutdown A20 so please forgive me if this is in the wrong area. I've been playing with an old pcduino2 and have got the latest mainline server version of Armbian installed on it. Very impressive. However, it appears to have only a single I2C bus and no SPI devices. It looks like there should be a sun4i-a10-spi-spidev.dts file somewhere or else some way to build the appropriate kernel modules but I have been unable to find this. I understand that this is a deprecated board but I should (hopefully) be able to perform any kernel builds required and am more than happy to feed the resul…

Hello. I just wanted to let you know about a possible bug I have found in the kernel installation script. I was using my OPi+2e with the default kernel, and today I installed next to test it, using armbian-config. Everything went fine, and seemed very stable overall (I didn'd use it for more than two or three hours, though). But then I wanted to revert to default, so I used armbian-config again. When I rebooted, the board started the u-boot sequence, but it got stuck on "Starting kernel". No other messages after that. I tried several times, with the same results. Since I have no logs, the only info I can give you is that I have an external USB HDD …

I've gotten the board up and running and on Wifi, but this is supposed to be a dim wifi 'lamp'. Just to start out: how do I connect the +- to the board How do I tell the board to power on the leds And for more advanced: Is it possibly to do voltage-limiting dimming as opposed to PWM If no: what's the best way to do PWM? (I'm perfectly fine with creating a c program that simply turns it on and off at a specified hz, but there may be a more elegant tool I'm not aware of) Thanks

I installed the kernels from and flashed them to sd card. Then i copied the modified .ko files from image that i built for latest non-rt kernel using the compile.sh. My orange pi zero is running rt version. When i try to modprobe the modified and copied module it gives me error: modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'libcomposite': Exec format error I read that incorrect arch could cause this so i ran the file command. libcomposite.ko: ELF 32-bit LSB relocatable, ARM, EABI5 version 1 (SYSV), BuildID[sha1]=3a49e12c7809bbbdbdc3c5c5bd0fcd53e77dde44, not stripped i think module i built is not compatible with rt kernel i downloaded. Hello everyone, Looks like i have some issue after last upgrade. I'm using a Banana Pi Pro as a file server at home (with samba mainly). The system is some kind of freezing after a few hours : i'm watching a movie and cannot go to the end of it. The system disappears from the network : no more access via samba/windows network, no more ssh, no more ping... Fortunately i am logging remotly so i can see that the system is still working somehow because it goes on sending syslogs. Last syslog is (the system "froze" at 20:10) : Feb 7 20:02:01 localhost CRON[3118]: (root) CMD ( cd / && run-parts --report /etc/cron.hourly) Feb 7 20:05:…

Hi, Over the last couple of weeks, I have been trying to get Pi-hole working (and more importantly, stable) on the Orange Pi (along with the relevant Orange Pi zero H2+ ARMbian OS) without success. I realize that I am using "Tested" but as yet not marked "Stable" code, however I'm hoping this can help somebody here perhaps in terms of developing a stable OS for these little boards. I have rebuilt the SD card from scratch several time now. The SD card is of reputable make (Sandisk) and in fact I have tried two different cards, just in case this was a card issue. I'm using a reliable power supply, which I have verified by continuously monitoring it with my …

I have installed the latest stable Ubuntu desktop Legacy on BPI M1. The OS boot directly into the GUI. I am planning to use xrdp to remote desktop into OS from windows machine on same network. So I think it will be a good idea that BPI to boot directly into console to save some memory. If I need GUI then I can remotely connect from a windows machine. Is it a good approach? If yes, then how to configure to boot into console with minimum memory footprint.

In the 3.4 Kernel I could call: rmmod dhd modprobe dhd op_mode=2 To set the wifi module to Access Point mode. But with the latest Kernel 4.14(?) neither of these modules exist. Does anyone know what the equivalent of this code would be for 4.14, or some other way to enable AP mode?

Hi, I just realized that my Orange Pi Zero running Armbian now shows a completely wrong temperature reading using cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp This has not been the case until I updated to Armbian 5.38 by apt upgrade some days ago. Before that the reading was plausible. Not sure which exact version I was running before. I have a cpu temp monitoring script running and just realized that it now gets garbage. At the moment I get a reading of -12°C when outside temp is about 0°C (the OrangePi is in a water proof box outside on my roof). Not a serious problem, but seems to be a bug, so would be nice if it could be addressed :-) . …

Hi all, I've been using the A20-Lime2 together with Armbian for about two years now and I love the effort that the developers and the community have put into this amazing product. Until not too long ago I was on Debian 8 (jessie) on the legacy kernel for webcam compatibility reasons (after having tried switching to mainline from time to time). With the release of Debian 9 I finally had everything that I was looking for in the mainline kernel so I decided to upgrade to Debian 9 and then switch to the mainline kernel. I'm currently on ARMBIAN 5.38 stable with 4.14.15-sunxi and just had to force a reboot. The server I'm running is mainly a webserver, …

Hello, I'm running a Cubietruck with legacy kernel (3.4.113) since a long time. The use of the legacy kernel is mainly due to the fact that I'm booting from onboard NAND and this was not supported by the mainline kernel for a long time. Meanwhile Armbian's mainline kernel became Stretch in its server flavor and I'm thinking about migrating. However I'm suspicious this will still break NAND boot, despite the fact that the documentation claims plus "missing NAND support" is not listed under "known issues" for the Cubietruck. Can anyone confirm or deny that mainline kernel meanwhile does/does not support booting from NAND on Cubietruck? And if…

Hi all, I'm trying to understand how to make an infrared tx/rx module working. This is the module: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5V-IR-Infrared-Remote-Decoder-Encoding-Transmitter-Receiver-Wireless-Module/32528109291.html Is there a way to make this works in userspace? I enabled cir, this is from my armbianEnv.txt: overlays=cir i2c0 but I don't know how to configure pins: which is rx which tx. Do I need to write down a new/custom overlay? Hello! It's about installing Armbian on OPi+ 2E without a reliable sdcard and with no proper card reader - U-Boot goes to sdcard, Armbian image goes to USB dong then installed to eMMC. I did this once but can't remember what device was the sdcard in Android, if anybody knows it would be great to share. It mounts as /dev/block/vold/179:1, but writing (dd) u-boot.bin to 179:0 or 179 doesn't result in a bootable sdcard (the OPi boots from eMMC, and as far as I remember if it has bootable sdcard inserted it should boot from it no matter what is on the eMMC). There was also an issue with the nand-sata-install - I had to remove some lines as it wouldn't allow writing …

Hi you all, I have flashed a good, tested and reliable 32GB SD card with the last build for Orange PI Win (armbian 5.38) and when first updating, it stucks in "waiting for headers" for too long. I have read that this is caused in Linux systems because one installs third party software whose repos take long to answer, but since here it is a first and fresh update, with nothing but armbian inside, I ask myself if it is normal or there is a problem with the servers at this moment. Only apt-get update ca take up to 1h 30 min, so it is really an annoying issue. Is anyone out there experiencing the same problem (and hopefully with a solution) ?? Thank you guys!…

Hi. When you install RPi monitor on a board using legacy 3.4 kernel (in my case, Orange Pi Plus2e), you can notice an error message in the "Memory" section of the web interface, as well as a very weird big number of used memory. That is caused because it tries to read some value from /proc/meminfo (named "MemAvailable") that wasn't implemented in that version of the kernel (I think it was implemented in 3.14, if I remember well). So I have made a custom version of the memory module, which gets the value for used and available memory using the same algorythm as HTOP, which has been many years around being very useful. I am attaching the file "memory_legacy…

Hi, I met another weird issue: I tried to setup a static IP address for my NanoPi NEO, which should actually bundle the NanoPI NEO's GigE MAC address and the static IP. Whenever I reboot the NanoPI NEO, its GigE MAC address changes, and an random IP address is automatically allocated, via DHCP. I mean, the previous MAC address did bundle to the static IP address that I allocated. However, there always exists a 2nd HOST name NanoPINEO which has a NEW MAC address and is allocated to a NEW IP address automatically. I'm not sure if this is an issue of the latest kernel I've just built? Or it is an issue of the FriendlyARM BSP for AllWinner H3 ? I posted …

Hello. I have an OPi +2e, with Ubuntu 16.04 and legacy kernel 3.4.113-sun8i. I tried to install Nextcloud via a Snap package, but got this error: error: cannot perform the following tasks: - Run configure hook of "nextcloud" snap if present (run hook "configure": cannot open mount namespace of the init process (O_PATH): No such file or directory) I googled for the message, and found out that there are some bits needed in the kernel, for Snap to work (see https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/nextcloud-snap-install/2674/3 ). Has anybody got this to work? Maybe with mainline kernel?

Hi there, I noticed there are up to date builds for Pine64 for Debian and also up to date ones for Ubuntu for the Orange Pi Win. But none for Debian and Orange Pi Win, newest ones are from November probably with legacy kernel? Is this just some kind of build script hiccup? If not, do you have an idea about a timeframe for new Debian builds? (I'd rather not use Ubuntu if it's just a few days/weeks I'd have to wait for Debian.)

Recently I have been having some troubles getting Pi-hole to work on the little Orange Pi board. However after about 6 - 12 hours of operation, they ceased to function. First time around I was not home to witness it, but when I returned later, the Allwinner chip was running pretty warm (around 60 degrees C core temp) and non-responsive, even to s…

I think 16 seconds is the max. value of the watchdog timeout of H2/H3, However, I cannot set it to 16 seconds. When watchdog-timeout = 16 in /etc/watchdog.conf, the timeout is 11 seconds : /etc/watchdog.conf max-load-1 = 24 watchdog-device = /dev/watchdog realtime = yes priority = 1 watchdog-timeout = 16 interval = 3 root@orangepizero:~# systemctl status watchdog.service ● watchdog.service - watchdog daemon Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/watchdog.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: active (running) since Mon 2018-01-29 11:10:27 HKT; 3min 31s ago Process: 851 ExecStart=/bin/sh -c [ $run_watchdog != 1 ] || exec /usr/sbin/wa…

Hello, I tried to install the four versions available for orange pi plus 2e, and none of them works. I can't even log in via SSH. I know they are nightly versions, the version with legacy kernerl works great... I just write this, because I have a spare orange pi plus 2e, and i'd like to offer to try any new version.

Hi to you all. I've had a functional boot from USB flash drive on my OrangePi Zero and when I've updated kernel yesterday from main repository and reboot_ed boot stoped working. I've tried on another fully functional OrangePi Zero with same rom on it and still not working. I've tried to put new "virgin" image to USB flash drive and still nothing. Tried to erase spi and write it againe and still nothing. Any idea what could happened. I'll try today to get serial console to see what is going on during the boot proces.

I have a NanoPi Neo Air (Allwinner H3 SoC) with onboard wifi and a serial interface. Unfortunately during some late hour hacking I managed to accidentally connect 5V onto its TX pin, I think effectively screwing up its UART0. I can no longer connect to it via a USB to TTL Serial cable. Looking at the NeoPi Nano Air's pinout diagram, it seems to have more UART devices (UART1 and UART2 even) so I wonder whether there's a way to set up armbian to communicate via these during boot? Another idea I had was to try to bypass the UART completely and to hook up the board via the wifi. Now, without having any access to a serial console, I need to …
