I got 2 x Orange PI pc+ running Armbian (install by same SD card on eMMC). My two orange pi pc+ got same wlan0 mac address. I did research on forum and saw some suggestion about bug of Network-Manager. I try remove (purge) Network-Manager but see no difference. I also try look in u-boot but don't know how to set mac address on the u-boot part. How should I make my 2 pc+ board have difference mac address? want to run these two board under the same wifi network. Please suggest. Thank you very much in advance.

I apologize for asking such a basic question. I have recompiled the wifi module on an Orange Pi PC+ to operate in concurrent mode so it can act in both station and AP mode at the same time, allowing it to be a wifi repeater. The problem is, this feature is lost on every kernel upgrade, requiring me to recompile the module each time I upgrade the kernel. The kernel module driver often changes slightly between kernel versions, and I have to track down and fix new bugs in the source code that prevent it from compiling when concurrent mode is enabled. I'm happy with how the wifi module performs now, but don't want to lose the ability to get needed kernel updat…

Hi all. Strange thing happens. I've tried to run a fresh installation of the 4.4.3 kernel version of armbian 5.04. The first boot takes forever (I gave up after 2 hours; a few times). It started and hung up at updating packages. Every try; tried about 10 times. If I switched to 5.04 with kernel 3.4.110 - the first boot takes about 1minute and cubietruck rebooted once, so everything worked perfectly. Any idea what could happened? Some extra info: If I logged in during this "updating packages" period, the normal process of creating a new user worked as normal. After that I could restart the cubietruck normally. So my question: Do I get some problems if I …

Good morning, I have a NanoPi Neo core where I am trying to use the usb ports (USB1, USB2 and USB3), the first thing to say is that all usbhost is active in armbian-config. The system does not recognize me anything in any of the 3, not a pendrive, or Wi-Fi or anything. If I go to armbian-config, I see that the DTB system that has loaded is that of the NanoPi air, I do not know if it can influence. USB devices receive power when connected. Any idea if I have to activate something else or modify the DTB or something? I have tried adding to armbianEnv.txt this line at the end fdtfile = sun8i-h3-nanopi-neo.dtb but nothing. Thanks and best r…

Hi specialists, I'm trying to understand how the axp209 on Banana Pi works with the A20. In the Banana Pi schematics I see, that they are connected with only four lines. Two lines are used for I²C (TWSI), one is from axp209 PWROK to RESET# of A20 and another one is connected from axp209 IRQ and GPIO2 to NMI# of A20. When system is off and I press my Power Button (K1) on the Pi, the system is booting. System is running and I long press the Power Button, System shuts down. But can anyone say whats happening? What does axp209 do with IRQ, GPIO2 and PWROK pins? Wich way does the A20 recognize, that it has to shutdown? Yours Martin

My newly received Orange PI Plus 2 gets stuck in a reboot loop, if I try to boot headless (no USB, no HDMI; UART is connected to see boot messages). Is such a problem known here? I have the same issue with some other linux images from other distributions, but hope to find some experience here. In detail: Power supply: Regulated Power Supply set to approx 5.2V (max 2A, built-in analog amperemeter shows max 1.4A during boot). No cables connected except power supply and UART I tried various SD-Cards (8GB or 64GB SDHC) --> The Orange PI Plus 2 boots till USB initialization and then reboots (sometimes it freezes). …

I had a rather crazy idea (in my opinion) of trying to hook up a bluray drive to an Orange Pi Zero Plus that i have a spare of, then possibly set that up as an iscsi target with LiO to create a network attached BD drive. However, I'm already stuck even getting the BD drive to work with the OPi in the first place. I have the optical drive hooked to an externally powered USB 2.0 to ATA bridge (has a SATA port on it as well, this hardware config was tested in windows and worked great) and that's plugged into the single USB port on the board. The problem i seem to be having (not entirely sure I'm correct, very new at this) is that sr_mod is not enabled or present. T…

I am failing creating a bootable SDcard. I download latest image and flash it using etcher. Everything goes smoothly. But when the SD is inserted in the device and the device is powered on, nothing happens (no video output, no LEDs blinking, no network LEDs blinking). I am facing this issue with bananapi M1 (and pine64, but I need to get bananapi working only). This is not SDcard issue, since other distros are running smoothly. This is not PSU issue, since other distros are running smoothly. I was testing Debian Jessie Next 4.9 and 4.11.

Hi, I'm using Armbian Linux on a Cubietruck A20 device configured as a media, file and backup server. Unfortunately while trying to fix a persistent SATA-cable connection problem I accidentally pushed the FEL button on the device. Now the device is always booting in FEL mode searching for USB devices, and I'm unable to reverse this. I have been looking at multiple pages about the FEL mode but I'm unable to find useful information on how to quit or exit this FEL mode and to have the cubietruck booting as it did before. Although I'm not a Linux novice, the information about FEL is quite complex and I have to admit I'm clueless about how to fix this s…

I have installed the 'watchdog' package (apt-get install watchdog' on an Orange Pi Plus 2E, and it does not seem to be working as I would expect. If I write output to /dev/watchdog the system will reboot, but if I stop the watchdog service (and wd_keepalive) the system does not reboot. I did un-comment the path to /dev/watchdog in the settings file, but have generally not changed anything else. Is there some other required setup needed to allow this to function?

Hello, I'm using the last Kernel (4.13.3) and U-boot (2017-09). I noticed that the device does not reboot each time we ask for it. It sometime get stuck and I have to start it manually, this is really annoying for my needs. I figure it out that the Device Tree from 4.13.3 introduce some improvement on AXP209 and power management. I tried Device Tree file from 4.11.x and everything seems fine. Does any body noticed it ? Well, I have this old M1 lying around. I found use for it. However HDMI output seems to be broken and I have composite video USB dongle at my hand and it boots... but I can not do anything with it. The question becomes: How on earth can I make it "ssh login"-able from the first boot (preferably with mdns)? What should I do with the image? Auto configuration tools - as handy and nice those are - are not for this. Thanks.

Greetings, Some time ago, I built armbian with kernel 5.4.51. I applied a patch to two dts files that allowed for the OV5640 camera to work. By "work", I mean /dev/video0 was present in the system and /dev/media0 was also present. I could set camera parameters with media-ctl pointing to /dev/media0. Now, I've updated, and using a legacy kernel, 5.4.65, I cannot reproduce this. I've applied the same dts changes, but upon booting this image /dev/media0 is missing. I've compared the two kernel configurations, and there are very minimal differences: # diff config-5.4.51-sunxi /boot/config-5.4.65-sunxi 3c3 < # Linux/arm 5.4…

From the CLI that is. I plan on using the OPi as a headless MIDI processor, and I'd like to be able to switch remotely the audio output of ALSA between the default audio-out, the HDMI out and a USB sound card (CM108-based, tested working with the current kernel). ALSA documentation isn't well maintained, most of it is old and doesn't correspond with the current state of the software (config files locations and names, contents etc). I tried various examples I found on several bulletin boards, but none really worked since Armbian seems to do things a bit differently. So I'm asking here: on Armbian, how do I switch remotely the output audio device in ALSA? No remote …

Hello armbianers ! Armbian 22.11.1 Bullseye with Linux 5.15.80-sunxi on a banana pi m1 I've connected a lipo battery to my bpi m1, and now when I try to shutdown -h 0, it ends up in a kernel panic and instead of shutting down it remains powered up. Is there anything I can do to fix that? I'd know how to shut it down talking to the axp209 via i2c, but I'm not sure how/where to put that, or if that would be or not the proper way to go. Thanks, George.

Hi! I just installed Armbian Jessie on my Cubietruck to replace the outdated CubianX-distro. I have just received an Orange Pi PC Plus, and am mostly happy with it. Linux orangepipcplus 4.14.18-sunxi is installed on a microSD card. There is a minor problem with IP addresses. Maybe it's not hot-pluggable. Reboot, and I got an address. Since it was outside the range my server accepts I assigned a static address in the router, and rebooted the router. ifconfig still showed the first address, even though the router's client list showed the new …

To replace my dead home server (which was just a dead laptop anyway), I picked up an Orange Pi PC for cheap locally. After solving power supply issues, I tested GUI and media performance on the board, with an aim to perhaps use the composite out for emulation, before concluding that this wasn't the best choice for the board. (That, and it'd kill my performance for the more useful server aspects.) While technically impressive, it wasn't really worth it when my PC is right there for me to use to play those video files I would on the board. Looking into the matter, it seems the ideal solution for a file server would be to install the Mainline kernel to benefit fr…

Hi Everyone. I expect I'm making a simple mistake here, but I'm pretty new to this and could use some help. I am trying to set a static ip address on an orange pi pc running armbian Jessie 5.36. I want a static ip to set up an nfs between multiple boards. I've done this before on debian desktops, but this time I'm getting errors. The Opi connects to my router fine. I add and update all the packages I need, then use nmtui to change the name of the network connection from "Ethern…

Hello, Has anybody successfully used the IR sensor on Banana Pi M2? From this, after I load the sunxi-cir module, I should see the sensor in /sys/class/rc/ but I see nothing. Nothing on dmesg either. Anyone who could point me in the right direction?

the entry in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq (maybe the path is wrong, I haven't the machine and I'm going by memory) is readable only by root so it is not usable to a normal user to display the current frequency of the processor, There is a way to change this behaviour? My distribution is for Olimex-A20-Micro with legacy kernel 5.14 if i don't go wrong. TIA and regards

Look at the description https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Armbian_overlays/ when I set UART I2C in armbianEnv.txt it should be overlay_prefix=sun50i-h616 overlays=i2c3-ph uart5-ph as described on the given page But when I use armbian-config and go to Manage Overlays my settings are not seen and I have to set them but the names of all overlays are preceded by the prefix. After selecting and saving the settings in armbinEnv.txt it is overlay_prefix=sun50i-h616 overlays=sun50i-h616-i2c3-ph sun50i-h616-uart5-ph as a result the defined overlays are not loaded Is it supposed to be like t…

Hello there, hope you been able to give me a hand; I've downloaded and installed without problems the current Xenial server Vanilla distro on my Banana pi. Then I've tried installing iptables, but for some reason, everytime I execute 'sudo systemctl start iptables' I receive the following error message: Failed to start iptables.service: Unit iptables.service not found. I know that something has got installed, as iptables -L provides the expected output; however, any systemctl command for iptables (start, stop, enable, restart) fails with the message above. Certinaly, searching for 'iptables.service' at file system returns no matchs, so file is really missing. My under…

Hey folks, I'm trying to play back a couple test files, H.264, 720p. These play without dropping frames on the stock Android ROM for a little while but then freeze, seemingly on certain keyframes? It's always in the same place. Anyway, I tried playing them with mpv on Armbian 5.38 desktop install and it drops frames like crazy. I know the stock Android ROM can play back Youtube content (in the app) without dropping frames - it seems like this should be doable based on what I understand about the capabilities of the A20 and on hardware support in the legacy kernel in the Armbian image ... is there tuning I should be doing? Or options for mpv that I can try? I've used VLC f…

Hello, I've got some problems with a Cubietruck. First thing to state is that the com-port apparently has died. It was connected via a USB-converter 3,3v and worked flawlessly for a long time. I replaced it with a new one but no go. In the beginning no problem, I could use SSH. Second thing is that the hard disk became erroneous. I bought a bigger model but no boot. I thought that the UUID-entry in /etc/fstab caused this and changed it via tune2fs to the old one, but still no boot. Thus I could no longer use SSH! And I cannot mount the old harddisk, it's to erroneous! Third thing is that I tried with a new image, and the cubie seems to fina…

Hi All, Armbian boots fine from SDcard but when I run nand-sata-install the script complains that it has no target. A #ls /dev/mmcblk* shows /dev/mmcblk0 and /dev/mmcblk0P1 When mounted, just to see, the mmcblk0P1 partition contains the usual linux directories, so I suppose this partition is definitely the SDcard No EMMC device is present. Could this be due to me performing, yesterday a: dd if=/mnt/ArchLinux_Minimal.img of=/dev/mmcblk1 bs=4M ? I did this because I read somewhere that booting up from SDCARD followed by a dd worked in some cases. Note I originally wanted to run Arch, but since there is apparently no support at orangepi.org, after…

Hi all, Firstly, I want to say that I'm new to Armbian and embedded Linux. I have tried searching the solution for my problem on various sites but I haven't had any luck. I am using a Nano Pi Duo 2 (H3) board with Armbian Buster to communicate with another device through UART1 (TX1, RX1). I am able to communicate at 115200 bps with no problem. However, I need the baud rate to be at least 230400 bps (ideally 921600) for my application. I'm using WiringNP library. When I changed to those baud rates and performed a simple feedback test (shorting TX/RX), I can receive the data. But when I connect it to another device, the communication does not funct…

Hi, I have a question about distro upgrde. Hi there, I've been trying for a few hours now to get the GPIOs working with the mainline kernel (ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.5.2-sunxi). According to the board layout photo, I am using PG0, PG1, PG2 and PG3. With the legacy kernel, they export as GPIO1-PG0 a.s.o. accordingly and work perfectly. So I calculate the GPIO pin number: G is 7th letter, 7 - 1 is 6, 6 * 32 is 192. GPIO192 exports fine, I can set it to output, change the value to 1 but there's no voltage! Can anyone help me, please?

Hey all, Sorry for the noob question, I posted this in another topic but it hasn't seen any action so I thought I would make a post. I have an Orange Pi PC, using the RetroOrangePi build which is based on Armbian. I'm having overscan issues on my 720p TV. I checked the options on the PC, there's no way to fix it there. They figured it out in this topic here (where I initially asked this question): The solution is to add code to u-boot in order to solve the overscan, or edit boot.cmd. My question is, will using u-boot be the best solution, or is it better to edit boot.cmd? Do I simply create a boot.cmd in something like note…

Ethernet was working fine for me, up until I rebooted the board. The LEDs on the ethernet port blink briefly during boot, but once booted they are off, and the board does not have an IP address. Having searched for the issue, I also confirmed that my power supply is sufficient; running 'stress -c 2 -m 2', and measuring across pins 2 (5V) and 6 (GND) of the 40-pin header, I get 5.05V. As I don't have a network connection, I did not run 'sudo armbianmonitor -u', but I gathered the following …

But it was not successful for Wi-Fi. I need an image or solution that does not change the MAC address. Is there anyone who can help with this?
