  1. Hi all I'm trying to set up a samba AD domain on a BananaPi M1+ running Armbian 5.31 (Debian Jessie) but fail miserably when trying to provision the domain. Using "samba-tool domain provision --use-rfc2307 --interactive", all starts well but then falls over with the error: Error loading module '/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/samba/vfs/acl_xattr.so': /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/samba/vfs/acl_xattr.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory error probing vfs module 'acl_xattr': NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL and a whole lot more. 2. Hi guys, I have just completed to build my "development workspace" including OpenCV, Qt5 and working OV5640. I've noticed that people reach about 30 fps of the frame rate using VGA/QVGA resolution. Datasheet says about 120 FPS for QVGA and 90FPS for VGA. I was working with this camera chip on STM32Fx and I got much better results than OPI0+ Is it weird, it is? I am wondering what is a limitation to get better performance and quality on this camera. I plan to write drivers myself, however I want to be sure it is only driver limitation. Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi, Since recent I have an issue that my Orangepi doesn't start anymore. My microSD is fine (did a full diskcheck using badblocks on ubuntu), en I can access all the files without issues. However, it doesn't want to boot. Every time I try to boot it (Orangepi pc), it gives the first black screen until starting kernel, and then gets stuck on the blinking underscore. For information: I have an Orangepi PC and Armbian 5.32 with mainline kernel. Now, this happened after I did an apt-get upgrade (incl. kernel upgrade) from 5.30 to 5.32, and then didn't reboot, but my orangepi had a short power interruption. After this it didn't want to start…

  4. first off: I'm totally new in the Linux world, but it's really fun to play with *Pis! currently I'm on a OPILite but I have some RasPis lying around and just ordered a nanoPieNEO2. I'm trying to setup a filesystem that supports deduplication, as far as I can tell that's ZFS or BTRFS. After a lot of reading and learning I got BTRFS with bedup running, but bedup is only file-wise deduplication. The solution for block-wise would be duperemove, but I can't find/get/install/build it for armhf. Has somebody tried block-wise deduplication before and can point me in the right direction? I'm running armbian 5.31 on 4.11.5

  6. Any advice for building for the H5 flavor of the Zero Plus? I am not new to kernal compiling or embedded systems dev but am rather new to compiling linux kernals FOR embedded systems. Currently using the H5 image from here: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero-2-h5/ but there is no easy option to target this board when building from source.

Does somebody know how I can get it to work? I want to transform my Orange Pi in an audio streaming device and volumio seems like a nice choice.

  13. I am new to Armbian and I have been using Jessie on BPI M2 for a couple weeks now but I can't seem to get it to automatically boot into desktop mode when no monitor is connected. It always seems to go right into command line. I have a number of pieces of software that have a GUI and need to run under desktop mode right off the bat that I would like to have at startup. I have been doing a lot of searching and have been wondering if it is a frambuffer issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  14. I have two Olimex Lime 2 eMMC boards, both set up the same way – same HDDs, same batteries, same power supplies, etc. Both run: - Armbian 5.31 (although one was updated to it, and the other was freshly installed with that version) - Debian 9 “stretch“ (same issue when they were both on Debian 8 “wheezy” though) - Linux kernel 4.8.14-sunxi Yet, one shows the CPU temperature, and the other doesn’t. 15. Hi, I've been running armbian (Debian Jessie) on my Cubietruck successfully for a while now, its mainly just an mpd server. 16. I have tried a few different suggestions that I have seen online to implement wifi on Orange PC with a wifi dongle. However, none them can work reliably. OrangePi zero works but wifi speed is very slow (about 1-2Mbps). I recently tried using Raspberry Pi with wifi dongles. It is almost plug and play and very reliable. I hope there is a way to do the same on OPi. If anybody know one, please let me know. I will be happy to try it out and report back.

  17. Hello, I have a cubieboard 2 (the one with only one SD slot) and there is a version of Linaro that is bootable in the NAND memory. I created a card with Debian Jessie Server (the last one) and boot it successfully, but when I run nand-sata-install I get a "No targets available. Please check your drives" pop up. I tried downloading the Debian Wheezy and creating a card and on that one I can see the nand memory blocks, but don't have the script to install and the one that came by default only installs to SATA (not to NAND). Anything I may be doing wrong here??

  20. I have been using Debian Jessie on an Orange Pi Plus 2e, but decided to upgrade to Stretch so I could install Chromium (which isn't in the Jessie repositories). I substituted 'stretch' for 'jessie' in /etc/apt/sources.list, then did: $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Everything went OK, until it hung while reconfiguring network manger. I restarted and re-ran sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. Everything else appeared to install OK except network-manager (which is shown as installed but half-configured) and network-manager gnome (which is shown as unpacked and not configured), If I try to fix network-manager using dpkg, this is what i get:…

  22. Hello, I'm new to armbian, and I have a few questions. The image on the downloads page uses the legacy kernel (default branch), I used the desktop version of armbian 5.30. But is it possible to upgrade the kernel to the mainline version (4.11)? If so how? and are there any disadvantages? For example will hardware acceleration still be possible using mpv and so on? If it is better to stay on the legacy kernel, then I let everything as is.

  27. Hi, I found a similar thread about space problem on /boot when upgrading the kernel, but it was with debian jessie, not Ubuntu, and the proposed "trick" doesn't seem to work anymore: This is what I get: Actually, I am facing this problem since I set up my system a year ago, but didn't take the time to solve it. But now, I would like to finish the aimed set up of the device (home server) and would like to get this out of the way. Thanks for any suggestion.

  28. I'm having trouble getting the RaZberry zwave extension board working in Armbian 5.31 with the mainline kernel. Previously on Bananian I just symlinked ttyS2 to ttyUSB99 and I was able to use the RaZberry with OpenZwave. But now, I have no idea how to get it working. I guess it has got something to do with overlays for the kernel but I haven't been able to find out exactly sifting thru the internet... Help very much appreciated.

  34. Hello. I have my cubietruck (cubieboard 3) configured to boot from sd card, and other files stored on hdd (sata). Few weeks ago (~15.06.2017) I updated armbian by "apt-get dist-upgrade". It worked well until I switch power off. Now it can't boot from sd card. If I remove it - boot from nand is ok. Whet sd card installed - no activity on display, just blinkin LAN port. If I boot from nand, I cat mount both SD and HDD and explore filesystem. But I can't find any logs, updated since 17.06 (time then I switch it off). Hi! I have ARMBIAN 5.31 on my Banana Pi m1 and need some help. Early I used wheezy and mount webdav disk with davfs2 in fstab, but after I installed jessie fstab dont mount any davfs2 disk. Besides I have another problem: I use davfs2 to backup some video and photos to cloud storage throw webdav, and I have mistakes on large files (files much bigger then free space in /var/cache). Davfs2 send files in cache folder first (/var/cache/davfs2 by default) and then to webdav disk, so I have to use another disk with enough free space (sda1 in my case). 38. I want to use an ADAU1979 with an olimex A20-Micro. Needs to show up as a device in ALSA, alongside the in- built CODEC - As far as I can see, this driver is in mainline kernel but I have no idea how to configure the kernel build to include it. Obviously we need to tell the system where its i2s/SPI interface is connected etc. Unsure which kernel version (legacy or mainline) to begin with. We do need a desktop environment and the olimex 10"/7" LCD to work also... I am starting this from a position not having built a kernel or kernel modules before so If this idea is a non-starter, someone please tell me so. Thanks.

  43. Hi. I've got a Orange Pi Win Plus flashed with armbian, everything is running great, except the bluetooth module. I have everything installed, but blueman keeps telling me that no adapters are found. I've checked if the bluetooth adapters were on with the command 'armbian-config', as well as trying to stop and restart it with '/etc/init.d/bluetooth stop and start'. I start to feel like it won't work on linux, because I've already tried debian and ubuntu from the orangepi downloads page and the bluetooth didn't work too. I don't want to run Android just because of this issue. Any ideas?

  55. Hey all, Sorry for the noob question, I posted this in another topic but it hasn't seen any action so I thought I would make a post. I have an Orange Pi PC, using the RetroOrangePi build which is based on Armbian. I'm having overscan issues on my 720p TV. I checked the options on the PC, there's no way to fix it there. They figured it out in this topic here (where I initially asked this question): The solution is to add code to u-boot in order to solve the overscan, or edit boot.cmd. 61. My Orange Pi Zero (rev 1.4) has a SPI flash module soldered to the underside. I can see the devices /dev/spidev0.0 and /dev/spidev1.0, and I can write to them and read from them (with dd), but the data I read from them is always just null bytes. Obviously then I can't create a filesystem on them. Is it possible to create a small filesystem on the SPI flash to add files? If not, how is it possible to store data on the SPI flash? I'm running Armbian 5.30 with kernel 3.4.113-sun8i.

  62. Friends I have a keyboard Rii i8 + I put the adapter that comes with the keyboard I put to locate by the bluetooth of the armbian it finds but at the time of pairing in happens nothing, only blinks green in Bluetooth and nothing else. Thanks.

I've checked the logs in /var/log and can't find what is wrong, at least to my knowledge. Here is the boot log http://sprunge.us/gRjf, so if anyone has any idea please share. I just checked the mali blob: mali450r5p001rel0linux1fbdevarm64v8a (fbdev) and this blob is working on the legacy kernel with the proper patches. Nevertheless we may have some stability issues at the current voltage/frequence; Indeed gl-mark2-es-fb crashes around the refract test on my board.

  76. i make this post to ask why my orange pi zero reaches easy 85 degrees with a heatsink applied to it. It is placed in a big case. 77. Hi all, I'm trying to use an Orange Pi PC Plus to drive an RS485 serial converter and ultimately talk Modbus to a sensor device. I have managed to get flow control enabled on the port, but the polarity of the RTS signal is active LOW, whereas the converter I have requires active HIGH. Is there any way to invert the polarity of the RTS pin for the UART? I think it can be done via ioctl call in C programs, but I need this applied at a system level to be compatible with some third party software. Thanks in advance!

It can stay alive for an half a day, and after it become unreachable. As I have no other connection to my NanoPi it's a bit hard to establish what appens. But if I unplug the USB Wifi dungle, and replugged it the link come back. Doing a ping to the NanoPi, I see regular "Request timeout for icmp_seq" - every 20, 50 or 100 request, it depends - and sometime the request time is abnormally huge: serveral seconds. 85. I recently switched from a Raspberry Pi 2 running Arch Linux to a Banana Pi (the original) running Armbian for music streaming using MPD. My output device is an XMOS-based Gustard U12 asynchronous USB transport feeding my DAC via AES/EBU. All other sample rates (44.1, 88.2 etc.) are being played back in their native sample rates, as expected. Is ALSA on Armbian system-wide limited to 96 kHz? 88. I was curious to see how Mainline kernel performs on GbE test against a Legacy kernel. For the Armbian side i chose the nightly dev Armbian_5.27.170602_Orangepiwin_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.1_desktop.img (Desktop) and for the Legacy i chose my own build with all "Bells and whistles" (full Desktop, hdmi, camera, bt and wifi). I did not optimized Armbian Mainline, just installed and run stock. For the Legacy i optimized as usual. If there is some optimization to do on Mainline side, i missed. 89. Hi everyones, Last week, I tried to read the value from DS18b20 temperature sensor to log it in the monitor system I already have. But I could not get its value. Reboot. Problem: No w1 dir found in the /sys/bus (expecting it will show w1 dir b…

  93. Hi, I just acquired a couple of OrangePi zero's with the H2+ SoC and 512MB Ram. I tried to install the latest images for both Debian and Ubuntu burning then to microUSB with the regular dd command. The flash USB was a 32GB ebay cheap microUSB generic unbranded.
