I use "./compile.sh BRANCH=default BOARD=orangepilite KERNEL_ONLY=no PROGRESS_DISPLAY=plain RELEASE=xenial" to build the whole booting image for my orangepi lite, it works very good as the official prebuilt armbian image. Here, the usb otg port seems configured as peripheral mode already( g_searial module works as gadget in fact), I can use it as usb seraial well. However, I want to make it works as a usb storage, so, I though the g_mass_storage was the right module. I loaded it using following command: insmode g_mass_storage.ko file=/dev/mmcblk0p1 removable=1 then, I got kernel message like: [ 194.842091] usb open ba…

Hello All, I'm using a cubitruck and I'm still on 5.25 mainline. I just saw that there is already v5.30 available but there are no updates available. apt-get update && apt-get upgrade tells me there is nothing to update. What am I doing wrong? Gesendet von meinem LG-H815 mit Tapatalk

I hear that Orange Pi 2E has 1GB network speed and an USB3 port. In my project I paln to use an SBC as a network bridge and sniff traffic for problems. A simple network tap would otherwise be ok but they come only with 10/100Mbd speed limit. What I'd do have two ethernet ports on the Orange Pi, one regular and one via USB3. No to my question: are Orange Pi capable for this or is the advertised network/USB3 speed buggy/lacking? I have one Orange Pi PC for a file server and it has been running for weeks just fine. Raspberry Pi's are fine to (albeit still no 1GB ethernet). Raspberry Zero's have issues (mine seem to lock up after a couple of days).

Dont know whats wrong, but none of the images on the page are working, tried to burn them with ApplePI-Baker and Etcher, but no luck. Board boots fine with stock android image. There was someone in here that got it working with an image called Armbian_5.27_Orangepizeroplus2-h5_Debian_jessie_dev_4.11.0.img.xz but where do I download that image ?. And yes I know there is loads of problems, but wanted to test som perfomance on the board. Hope somebody can point me in the right direction

Hi, after the update from Armbian 5.23 to 5.25 on a Banana Pi M2+ board, the MAC address and CPU serial number have changed. This can be reproduced by just updating the u-boot package on Armbian 5.23: # ifconfig | grep HWaddr eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr da:c7:a0:49:24:d6 # grep Serial /proc/cpuinfo Serial : 2435501d0a0e4800004d # dpkg -i linux-u-boot-bananapim2plus_5.25_armhf.deb # reboot # ifconfig | grep HWaddr eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 3a:89:a1:23:98:a6 # grep Serial /proc/cpuinfo Serial : 24005035871c481d0a0e Does anyone know the reason for this? Did u-boot change the way these numbers are generated? …

Hi, After reading a post about NAS for allwinner, I need some advices: So far I have same performance on my raspberry pi b+ and my orangepi2e : 2 hard drives 2 To 2,5" usb on a powered hub. (approx 11 Mb/s max through AFP/nfs share). Gigabit does not seem to be the bottleneck on the pi since it does not impact my bit rates. My question is simple : can I have better performance if I make a RAID via btrfs ? Do I have to format my hard drives ? What is the best distro ? (I used armbian but does not seem very stable compared to the raspberry, what about ubuntu server, or raspbian ?) Thanks

Hello, to all OrangePI PC enthusiasts. Well I'm in the community of those who definitely underestimated the Orange of the PI, but let me share my burden :-) for the fun of it. It started with the camera- gc2035 and vfe_v4l2 modules. Had to try a couple of images until I got it by luck I guess - after that I found out that every image I use is not capable of having a FTDI device connected to "ANY" USB Port (OK, you got me, I didn't try the microUSB and I won't). After that I tried no matter what I wanted to connect to USB it was not even recognized. Now I'm back in changing/swapping around Images until I found one that let me plug anything I …

Greetings, all! I've got a LeMaker A20 BananaPro, on which I'm using the Armbian mainline distribution (for a more complete description of my setup, please see below). I'm using a serial console to the board; I'm not connecting anything to HDMI for display. I'm running the distribution off of a brand new 8Gig SanDisk Extreme Pro. I would like to use alsa (at least in part) in the audio stack. I'm experiencing the following: When I have no audio playing through the audio out jack, I get a loud (powerline, probably) hum on my speakers. When I start audio playback (a wav through aplay, or an mp3 through mpd, etc.) the hum disappears, and the so…

Hi, im using an Orange Pi one with a camara. I bought it as a set: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/Orange-Pi-One-SET-9-Orange-Pi-One-and-Camera-Camera-with-wide-angle-lens-for/32660642513.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.8eWICb I've flashed armbian to the SD Card and fired it up. The Problem I have is, that I can't access the camara. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or the camara is broken. What I've done so far, is following this tutorial: https://diyprojects.io/camera-2mp-orange-pi-unpacking-installation-test-motion/#.WSw0jbpuKUk and then red through following article: http://www.orangepi.cn/orangepibbsen/forum.php?mod=viewthrea…

Hi, This is my first post and I want to say thank you to all the developers and contributors of this great eco system. I've build an image for odroid xu4 with the openmediavault script. This is really great because the software packages and kernel ist up to date and running like a charm. Then I tried to get my DVB card working but that is work in progress. The card is not supported by the 4.9 Kernel and the usual way is to compile the media_build package from hier: https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_Obtain,_Build_and_Install_V4L-DVB_Device_Drivers But with an cross compiled system as armbian i…

I've read many posts here and understand the OPi0 wireless chip isn't very well liked. I'm trying to setup hostapd with both client and AP functionality. I can get AP working only if I dedicate wlan0 to it. It seems that virtual devices (eg iw dev wlan0 interface add uap0 type managed; ip link set uap0 up) don't work with the current jessie image, making it impossible to have both AP and client simultaneously. I'm happy to help with testing the driver, but I'm no expert and certainly not knowledgeable enough to code this sort of stuff. If there's any help to be had, I'd be grateful.

Hi, I got a new nano pi neo air and wanted to add a microphone to record sound. First I tried my USB mic and it worked without any problem then I saw a topic in here: https://forum.armbian.com/index.php?/topic/3598-nano-pi-neo-air-mic-audio-out/ According to this topic, I can attach a mic to the pins that mentioned. But my big problem is what is the hardware name? I tried to use arecord -l and the output was: root@NanoPi-NEO-Air:~# arecord -l **** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices **** card 1: sndhdmi [sndhdmi], device 0: SUNXI-HDMIAUDIO sndhdmi-0 [] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 But it is the HDMI sound card which I think is…

Hello, I want to use the Banana Pi for VDR and need a dvb device - Geniatech T230 for example. Therefore I need i2c_mux enabled. On the 8. May 2017 I created a sd-card-image with your tool (virtualbox, ubuntu and "git clone https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib --depth 1"), everything works fine. :-) But I forget to enable the remote controller adapter in the kernel... O.k., I started to rerun all the things and created a new sd-card-image. But the network is out of funktion. :-( The system doesn't reach the dhcp-server. The network with a static ip-adress is out of function, too. Anything was changed on the system, wasn't it? The…

Very grateful to armbian to provide such a good image! Armbian has released many images that have been packaged with OMV。 I am follow this link for a long time:http://kaiser-edv.de/tmp/NumpU8/ I'm happy to see more and more mirrors available。 I used one of the images named OMV_3_0_72_Orangepiplus2e_3.4.113.7z and it works good,Special thanks to tkaiser! There is another model(Orangepiplus2) that is better suited for NAS Because it has a sata interface https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus-2/ Can Armbian provide OMV images of the above motherboards? At last, sorry for my poor English.

Hi friends, I have read a lot document about booting orange pi zero over usb flash. I flashed latest mainline u-boot to orange pi's SPI Flash. I can boot the system via the usb port which is next to the ethernet. Can I boot the system via the usb ports USB2 and USB3 that the h2+ has and the expansion card that can use it?. I can not see these USB's through u-boot terminal. thanks.

I think I know the answer to this but I'll ask anyways. Is there any command line software out there (e.g., VLC) that I could put onto an Armbian Server Edition version that would show a movie out on the HDMI port? I have a NanoPi M1 that has a HDMI port. But I'm assuming that without all the Desktop video driver, it isn't possible to do this on a headless server.

Hi Guys! I am experimenting with an Orange PI Zero H5 and have noticed that there is no CEC support in Armbian Is it something that is worked on and i should expect it to be present in the H5 Armbian builds anytime soon ? I have found some guides with Kernel Patches etc but i am a Linux noob and it's a nuclear physics for me atm. Anyone can clear that out for me ?

Good afternoon, I am using armbian 5.25 on orangepipcplus with legacy kernel. when visiting google.com site with firefox, I will only see the "mobile" site with restricted functionality. On the bottom of the screen there is a link "Google-Ansicht klassisch" which should bring me to the desktop version of google. But when pressing this a popup tries to come up but will not finish its presentation. Now this tab is blocked, I never get to accept google terms and conditions and can not use google. Do you see the same behaviour? Is there any known remedy? PS: Yes, I tried firefox "safe mode" - same thing! Thanks, gnasch

Hi, I am running the latest Armbian stable headless build with legacy kernel for a few weeks now without issue (tvheadend, cups, sane, shairplay-sync, pi-hole). Yesterday I added a dvb-c stick from sundtek which works pretty well. However, I noticed that only 1 USB port works (the one by itself). I can either connect the dvb-c stick or my printer/scanner. Attaching another device to either of the other 2 USB ports does not work... What am I missing?

Hi, I have serious problems with the 5.25 images of armbian on a cubietruck. After a fresh install and apt-get update apt-get upgrade I get errors with : dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-libc-dev_4.4.0-78.99_armhf.deb (--unpack) This is for the Armbian_5.25_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.9.7 image, with other images this concerns a different package. Only Armbian_5.25_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113 works. After this error, the filesystem seems to be defect and is remounted ro. On another try, I removed the rmount ro on error option from the fstab and the /var/lib/dpkg directory was corrupted. …

Hi there, I have problem with recovering "sudo h3consumption -m 1200 -c 4" on Orange Pi Zero, where it activates just 2 cores. No idea why. When I used "sudo h3consumption -m 900 -c 1" it worked fine, but now, when I am trying to recover all 4 cores it activates just 2 cores. Which files h3consumption changes? (so I will be able to backup them with clean install and the restore them once needed to recover settings for all 4 cores). And I found out, that with "sudo armbianmonitor -m" it shows CPU changes 900Mhz, 1018Mhz (dont remember exact values) but now it just shows 480 P.S. Hello Armbian community. Recently, I decided do try new distros for the Cubieboard 2. and Armbian seemed to be a really good option. However, just booting the latest image started to cause problems. After writing the image with the proper software on a proper SD card as mentioned by this webpage, it just doesn't work at all. To be brief, I took pictures of what appears on the screen, first being what seems like to be an error displayed by text, then a really messed up screen, and finally the board shutting down by itself. I would appreciate any help or recommendations regarding this issue.

I did manage to use the rmbian_5.27_Orangepizeroplus2-h5_Debian_jessie_dev_4.11.0.img.xz image and things boot fine. I also get pretty console on hdmi. I am trying to figure out how to make the Orange Pi Zero a USB gadget. Preferably a USB Vendor Device but a mass storage device would work for now. I was able to successfully create the ethernet gadget. (Using Armbian_3.4.112_g_ether_kernel.tar.bz2) That is pretty cool. But I would like the mass storage or vendor device. I was playing around with modprobe but I am not really sure what I am doing. Module g_mass_storage is not found. I have searched this site and online for the last few hours and just got more confused. Thanks for any help.

I have a rtl2838 based DVB-T dongle which was working beautifully under 3.4.112 on my cubietruck. I upgraded a couple of days ago and now I don't get any video data, although the dongle is still recognised. I see 113 includes a fat patch to the rtl2832 driver. Is there some way I can back that out, or a safe way to go back to 112?

Hi, I bought an orangepi zero H5 and I try to setup armbian on sd card. I write the image with etcher but there is no screen display when I boot. I wait long time about 10mn, my card is 16Gb, but no display on my hdmi tv. I test Armbian_5.27_Orangepizeroplus2-h5_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.0 , and the nightly build Armbian_5.27.170520_Orangepizeroplus2-h5_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.1 but it is the same story: no display. I test the official Ubuntu from Orangepi there is no problem, the boot is fast and I get display on my tv. Do you have some advice ? Thanks. G*

I am using my cubietruck now since may 2014, everythings ok. What is the latest version of Armbian tested and proven working with a gc2035 camera module, please? I tried a few months ago and ran into so many issues, I gave up. Camera works in Android, didn't work in the Armbian I tried, and was eventually advised to try an earlier version that I couldn't easily find. I decided to defer the problem, but it is now more pressing. Thanks in advance for info and advice. Regards, Charlie

After setting up root password and new user, have edited /etc/network/interfaces to have uncommented these lines source /etc/network/interfaces.d/* auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.0.106 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1 dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 auto lo iface lo inet loopback every manual says it should be easy like that... but it doesn't work where to dig next?

Orange Pi Plus 2e How do I clone the SD card and both have boot capability? I am new to the concepts of Pi's so I am looking to slowly add abilities to the pi and have a working clone which I can use when I stuff it up. I have also seen no mention of grub being used anywhere. My main computer is a amd 64 with Debian running but I can use my laptop with win 8.1 on it but would prefer a solution which I can use on Debian Thanks for your help Dave

I received my new Orange Pi Plus 2e and tried to set it up. I already got an Orange Pi PC2 running so it's not really something new to me. I used the latest Armbian images (desktop and server), flashed them to my SD card (with Etcher) and plugged it into the Pi. The green LED lights up and the device seems to be working. To this point it's the same as on my PC2. But after ~1min the red LED starts flashing twice over and over and nothing seems to be working. I get no signal over the HDMI out and the LED keeps flashing. I flashed the SD card three times to make sure it's not a flashing error. I tried the desktop image twice and the server image once. It always ends wit…

I'm sorry for the lame question, I just don't wanna regret anything before buying this fan, so I'm talking about this fan (3cm x 3cm) Spoiler I want to mount this fan right below the board by just screwing it in. Do the holes fit perfectly with the holes of the opiz board ? I've asked this before on facebook but someone suggested me to just glue the fan directly onto the board but I'm afraid it'll damage the board instead.

Today I encounter a rather significant packet loss at the wired ethernet connectionmy at my NanoPi NEO. The device is up-to-date running with Armbian 5.25 and Pi-hole. I booted up my OPi0 + $2 expansion board this weekend after reading through the doc on it warning about TVout problems. Used the legacy Xenial 5.25 build available. I used the USB-serial method and logged in from my PC via SSH later over WiFi. On the TV there was no desktop GUI display, just the regular login prompts CLI. So this is not a RCA composite cable issue, but likely a display one...my TV is 720p. 1. On the TV I just got the login prompt after the text based Orange Pi Welcome screen. After logging in it stays text, as if I were in Terminal. I tried to install: $sudo apt-get xorg lightdm xfce4 tango-icon…

Hello, actually i have "Bananian" with the kernel "3.4.113-bananian", and I would like to switch to the Armbian mainline kernel! My problem / question is how does it work with the GPIO in the mainline kernel? I use these commands under the legacy kernel... (I use the modified WiringPI from LeMaker) echo "17" > /sys/class/gpio/export echo "out" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio17/direction echo "1" > /sys/class/gpio17/value But these unfortunately no longer work under the mainline kernel! I don't understand how i calculate now the right GPIO Pin. (http://linux-sunxi.org/GPIO#Accessing_the_GPIO_pins_through_sysfs_with_mainline_k…

I looks like there are more as one way to setup kodi on orange pipc. The latest version 17.1 of kodi with hardware exsaleration would be preferable. Hello, first of all many thanks to all the community that keeps this project alive. I recently bought a NanoPi NEO2 board and of course decided to drop the OS provided by Friendlyarm and give a try to Armbian's Ubuntu build for this board. Everything seems to work just fine, however I'm unable to get a reading on the CPU Frequency. I tried multiple tools and commands but somehow all end up with something like "cpuinfo_cur_freq: No such file or directory. For instance, here is the output of armbianmonitor: armbianmonitor -m Stop monitoring using [ctrl]-[c] Time CPU load %cpu %sys %usr %nice %io %irq CPU/usr/bin/armb…

As a newbie struggling for a month trying to find resources to set a static IP for Wifi DHCP and to get my PC to directly communicate to my OPZ via ethernet so I can be mobile... Hi everyone. I heard Armbian was the to-go distribution for the Nanopi NEO Air. I've got a bunch of these boards where I'd like to use the built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capability in a small form factor for a project. I don't need video or audio or other functionality. I see a legacy kernel "stable build" and a mainline kernel "experimental" build. For the experimental build it lists the following known problems: No Mali drivers No hardware accelerated video decoding schedutil CPU governor may cause clicks and pops on audio output – change(d) to ondemand to work around this issue This sounds fine with me. I need no video, and…

I have to restart the device (power on/off) in order to be able to connect via ssh, but I can work for a few minutes only, then network goes down again. I don't have a screen to connect to the…

I just recently acquired a few Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 boards. I need to get them working for a Bluetooth application. After a somewhat rough start with the WiFi they appear to be running smoothly now. The first problem I am noticing is that sata-nand-install does not exist on the distribution for the H5. Can anyone shed some light on what is necessary to get these boards to boot from eMMC? Is there anyone currently working on this problem? If not, what is the correct version of that script that I should download to begin trying to port it, and what utilities will I need to adapt to make it happen? Any advice on how to begin? Hi, After running the default image with legacy kernel for a few weeks, I am now trying the run a fresh SD card with the latest build of the mainline image. However, the MAC address of my device appears to be changing after each reboot - and I am running about of ideas to fix this issue. What I've tried so far: - Edit script.bin & add MAC address in the [dynamic] section - Edit armbianEnv.txt - Define an address in /etc/network/interfaces So far, I have not been able to solve the problem. Your help is much appreciated. Any suggestions on possible fixes for the issue?

After figuring out how to enable analog audio on the Lime2 (https://forum.armbian.com/index.php?/topic/4224-analog-audio-on-lime2-with-stable-kernel-version-49/), I now have the problem that there is a clearly noticeable mainline hum whenever no sound is playing. The hum goes away as soon as any sound is playing on the device, and it returns a couple seconds after the sound stopped. It appears like some kind of power saving feature kicks in. With the legacy kernel the hum goes away during boot and does not return. Any ideas?

Hi, Creating a build for OPiPCPlus, mainline/dev/4.11, xenial, desktop. Need to enable the UDA1380 device in my local kernel build, yet I see some ..obstacles.. Tried initially to do a KERNEL_CONFIGURE="yes" in compile.sh but after started the compile and reached the point of menuconfig the UDA1380 option did not got presented (might be because there is no tristate string in mainline sound/soc/codecs/Kconfig..) so I reverted it back to normal. After the first attempt, I tried by modifying the lib/config/kernel/linux-sun8i-dev.config and added "CONFIG_SND_SOC_UDA1380=m", tried the compile again and waited to finish, yet at the end, although the ot…

Hi, I have an Orange Pi Zero (256MB) board. I downloaded the prebuilt image named as "Armbian_5.25_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113.img" and used it without a problem. Then I cloned the project from github and cross compiled on an Ubuntu 16.04 computer (4.4.0-31-generic kernel) by using the "compile.sh" script. It created an image named as "Armbian_5.27_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113.img". But this image halts after printing "ion_reserve_common: ion reserve: [0x47e00000, 0x50000000]!". It used to function fine, however after not using it for awhile it has quit working. It starts booting normally, then hangs with what's visible on the screen being a bunch of systemd messages, with the last being either something about system variables or mounting FUSE file filesystem, when it's the latter it's followed up with a kernel panic. I've reflashed several times using both the server and desktop images freshly downloaded, no difference. The power supply I'm using worked before, as did the SD card. Unfortunately I have no way of showing you system logs or such for the time being. Any help would be appreciated.

Below are supplementary quotes helpful to asking the question: can CPU presets be made into a desktop shortcut that could allow pre-defined CPU freq settings whether onthe fly or even reboot required? Is so, what would the code be? That's the question I can't answer. I ask because of the two Beelink X2s (one each of Armbian flavors); I'd like to get a hands-on feel for how high the temps can be expected to go. I probably won't be running hot for long, but then again I just received a bag of heat sinks and can also drill holes in the plastic box for better air circulation. QUOTE 1 for reference: Some boards allow to adjust CPU speed. nano…

I have usb 802.11b/g that works as i plug it in UBUNTU Desktop on ACER Laptop. works on Armbian for OPIPC but doesn't work on RetroPie PC. on Desktop it is working with RT2800usb driver. Chip itself is RT2070L. on Retropie PC, it is listed when I'd LSUSB. I'd tried to download .deb driver for it but unsuccessful. what's other options do i have?
