I am trying to control a relay board on OPI PC plus - armbian. I have used "orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3" module in python before to control leds, buttons and an 16x2 LCD. This is the relay. To control the Relay module i connected VCC to 5V, GND to ground and IN to PIN 35 (Which is PA10 on my board). and used the code below to open or close the relay just to test but no luck. The code does not return any errors, it runs and finishes but no activity on relay. Both leds (Red and Green) on relay are on when connected. Any help would be appriciated.

Hi all and many thanks to armbian team - it is a great distro. I installed armbian to my orange pi pc (just pc, not pc+) and it works. TV out works too. But no one of my usb wi-fi adapters are supported by default kernel 3.4. This is why I go to "kernel" tab at page https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/and follow instructions to switch to development kernel. Also I follow instruction at "Nighty releases" tab in order to get the newest versions of software. After installing new kernel I edit symlik /boot/script.bin to point to "bin/orangepipc.bin" instead of default "bin/orangepipcplus.bin" and reboot. Orange pi boots successfully and I can log in via ssh, but tv sign…

Hi everyone, I was doing speed tests on the XR819 and started looking at the driver code. My this looks very similar to the cw1200 driver already in mainline Linux. I started modifying the cw1200 driver to try and get it to work with the XR819. Apart from someone renaming functions and adding a bunch of important junk for XR819, the drivers are quite similar. I've modified the cw1200 driver up to the point that it's loading the boot_cw1x60.bin ( boot_xr819.bin ) file, but for some reason the bootloader is returning an error instead of success. I don't think it's possible to diagnose this without the datasheet from ST. Clearl…

Hey guys, I was wondering why the Browsers doesnt support H/W Acceleration, now i found out its because the Mali Driver is outdated. I installed also Chromium and forced it to use the GPU, well at least it trys but i got a bunch of errors. Is there a way to add a new Driver? Tried also to compile it myself but i was never that deep into linux and never had to compile drivers, here are the sources: http://malideveloper.arm.com/resources/drivers/open-source-mali-utgard-gpu-linux-kernel-drivers/ I think the current Kernel uses a horrible outdated r3p0 Version and a new one is r7p0, at least r4p0 is needed which should work with Chromium and finally add H/W Accelerat…

Hello everyone, I've recently bought an OrangePI PC Plus with an intentions to make it (beside others) a multimedia center. Because of community and pretty good status of armbian on h3, I've downloaded and installed (a.k.a copied to sd) the latest armbian I found (5.20 with kernel 3.4.112). Everything went ok, I've got graphical desktop, hw accelerated h264 and h265 over hdmi to my tv. So the next step was to install kodi. An that's the point where my troubles started. After I installed kodi and probably updated the whole armbian (apt update && apt upgrade && apt dist-upgrade), I noticed that my TV turns off almost immediately I turn it on to h…

Hi, I receive 16 bytes every 0.5 seconds. This should be saved as text or as MySQL table data. Need to compare with all existing records , process and display it on 3.5 inch TFT LCD on SPI ( Notro fbtft ) and also save to SD Card . It should be broadcasted to a fixed Ip using TCPIP. Can I use Orange Pi Zero with 512MB Ram ? Can I partition Ram as RAMFS OR TMPFS to do all read only tasks thus save time for slow SD CARD writes ? Can I first copy boot files and my app, tables to Ram and start from Ram ? Any suggestions ? Thanks

Hi Just got my first Orange Pi Zero today. Everything looking good, with the exception, if I run iperf tests between this and a linux host, the Orange Pi Zero will reboot without any error messages. I changed my power supply to a wall plug which can support 2.4amp easily, also tried to tune down the frequency to 900Mhz max, 4 cores, turned off HDMI/GPU, USB. DRAM is at minimum, 408 I think. Temperature remains at 55 to 58C Still once a while during heavy network, the board will reboot. The image i used is the legacy image posted on orange pi zero, Armbian_5.24_Orangepizero_Debian_jessie_3.4.113 Thanks Jerry

I feel like I have been here before..... I'm trying to get Netatalk working on my OrangePiOne and OrangePiPC. No luck again I have build a custom kernel with only appletalk extra as a module ( appletalk.ko) and used the then created package: linux-image-dev-sun8i_5.24_armhf.deb to install this over an image of the beta images site for an orangepizero. Armbian_5.24.161226_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_4.9.0.img The OrangePi boots perfect and I see the new kernel active: Linux orangepizero 4.9.0macippi-sun8i-g21ddf78-dirty #2 SMP Fri Jan 6 20:08:41 UTC 2017 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux Installed Netatalk after this and it is running fine...only no appletalk or AFP…

The orange pi zero has a USB OTG interface, which can be used to interact with it in the absence of networks and spare USB-UART converters. This is not enabled by default in the Armbian image. Here I describe how to modify the system image before first boot to enable this. First, mount the freshly written SD card on a linux computer, become root, and change directory to the mount point, that is, the root directory of the SD card. The following couple of steps were taken from https://oshlab.com/enable-g_serial-usb-otg-console-orange-pi-armbian/which describes how to enable this in a live system, i.e. after first boot. The steps are modified to work on the moun…

Hi, with the Cubieboard 1 there's a bug with the kernel inotify's option. The problem is that Minidlna uses this feature in order to update its dabatase, but since on Cubie it doesn't work, I've tried both ArchLinux Arm and Armbian, i can't have an updated db. Do you know if there's any solution in order to fix this issue? Maybe trying another kernel, different from the default linux-sunxi? Thanks for your time! Marco

Hey everybody. I'm quite new to allwinner, my first experience was with the A13 (sun4i) from olimex. I wrote a kernel driver for the sunxi kernel, which uses the spi and some GPIO. It talks to an SPI RF chip and works just fine. I want to port my kernel driver for the Orange Pi Zero, but have some issues. My main question is: how do i access the fex file, how do i manipulate the gpio and spi ? In the sun4i there are helper functions in the arch/arm/mach-sun4i/sys_config.c file. #define PIN_DIR(handler,dir) gpio_set_one_pin_io_status(handler, dir, NULL) #define PIN_SET(handler,val) gpio_write_one_pin_value(handler, val, NULL) #define PIN_GET(handler) gpio_rea…

I'm trying to set the Pin G11 on a NanoPi Neo, previously configured as input, to output in C++ by mapping the PIO function register into the virtual memory with mmap and setting a single bit. As per the Allwinner H3 Datasheet the following hardware addresses are specified: Similar to the Raspberry Pi's function register, the Pin knows at least two states: 000: input 001: output ... In my Script, I'm therefore trying to set the 12th bit of the PG Configure Register 1. Here's my C++ code: struct peripheral { unsigned long addr_hardware; int map_size; int mem_fd; void *mem_map; volatile unsigned long *addr_virtual; int …

Hello I received my first OrangePi today, a Zero, and I'm a bit lost. Installed armbian xenial, upgraded to beta/dev and installed dev kernel as documented. (working!) Hi all I have a project where I'll be deploying the same configuration (including IP addresses) to a multiple Orange Pi Zeros. There will be some slight differences (hostname, information in one script) but largely identical. I was thinking about using a Linux VM to run a script that changes a base image (from a pre-set up machine) makes the changes and burns an image onto microsd. Is this a viable approach? Will I need to change anything else (MAC address related stuff?) Cheers!

I'm running Armbian_5.20_Micro_Debian_jessie_3.4.112 on an Olimex A20 micro board. I find that opening serial port device `/dev/ttyS2` causes the system to crash. The board heartbeat LED either stops or blinks rapidly. The board itself is not pingable. I can reproduce this issue with a simple from the shell using: cat /dev/ttyS2 or from c code using: fd = open("/dev/ttyS2", O_RDWR | O_NOCTTY | O_NDELAY); `/dev/ttyS2` is linked to UART6. In the fex file, I have configured it like so: [uart_para6] uart_used = 1 uart_port = 6 uart_type = 2 uart_tx = port:PI12<3><default><default><default> uart_rx = port:PI13<3><default><defau…

I configured the on board wifi access point on my Orange Pi Lite, (WPA / WPA2 encrypted, hostapd, dnsmasq). Everything was fine. I could power the board, connect to its wi-fi and ssh into it. Just a day ago I connected to the board with ssh, just to test that it was working and closed the connection immediately. So I know that it should be working and that all the configs are good. But now I keep on getting Connection Timed Out error, tested under Arch Linux and Mac (as the connecting clients). Under arch linux my card finds the wi-fi, finds its bssid and gets to sending an "ASSOCIATING" request which gets a Timeout response. It does not seem to be a hardwa…

Hi! I thought, I might save some energy by using a Sinovoip Banana Pi M2+EDU (it is like the M2+ but no WiFi and no display (EDIT: I mean 8 GB EMMC) and 512MiB DRAM) instead of an Atom N270. Here at armbian.com/download I only found "legacy" 3.4 images, which work nicely... I wonder, if it is a good idea to stick somelhing into public internet with a 3.4 kernel... So I tried to install lhe latest archlinuxarm kernel tar ball with a git clone of u-boot (using Sinovoip_BPI_M2_plus_defconfig) and it boots nicely, but: 1. There is no eth0 (so it is much safer from the public inet, than I like) and 2. there is no cpufreq (so it gets quite warm and i can't eve…

I got an OrangePi Pc, and I see that Mali GPU frequency has been rolled back to 252 Mhz, or at least the kernel is saying so in dmesg. I took a look into the changelog, the frequency has been increased to nominal 600 Mhz in armbian v5.15, but now I installed a fresh 5.20, upgraded to latest packages and I see that kernel initializes the GPU at 252 Mhz. I found no traces of this rollback in the changelog. As I'm currently testing the SBC as a desktop replacement, I'm guessing if the increased gpu frequency could be of any benefit to the interface snappiness.

Hi all, During a first installation, wireless worked with both ralink or rtl8192cu usb dongle. Though connection was unstable (ralink) or sometimes even freezing the system (rtl812cu), I could at least see the surrounding ssids and most of the times connect. Following a problem which bricked the opipc (my kid unplugged the board while I was playing with kernel), I reinstalled from scratch. And pouf ! None of my dongles work. Leds won't turn on, no wlanx in ifconfig, no ssids in network manager tray icon... however (tested only with rtl8192cu dongle), lsusb and lsmod seem fine (i can see rtl892cu in lsmod). Hi, We use different armbian images for our different orangepis and every time we change a board model we only point script.bin shortcut to .bin file of the new board and it always work without changing the whole image. Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum so first let me say a big THANK YOU to the armbian team for the excellent work. I've been playing around with my orange pi pc for a while now, not really wanting to spend much time on it (family, children, work, you know the story) or dig into details, and did not find any PnP distro that was 100% satisfactory (always something missing, unstable,...), until I gave a try to armbian. Apart from a weird kernel panic at the end of every shutdown, everytying is running smoothly so far. I'm now in the process of installing OctoPrint to drive my 3D printer and I am facing a problem with python virtualenv. Basically trying to execute…

Following the instructions from the download page for the Lime2-eMMC we tried to apply the commands listed, but it looks that something is garbled here source is not a command AFAIK and if I use it as an apt-get option the system complaints about missing entries in sources. What is the correct way?

First sorry for starting a similar thread here and in [1]. I try to read a DS18B20, which does not work with Armbian, DietPi, and Friendlyarm's Ubuntu. This morning, my idea was to slow down the CPU - and it worked. In detail: By running some useless cpu consuming python scripts, reading the DS18B20 works fine. As soon as i stop them, reading the sensor immediately fails. So there might be some timing issues in the implementations of w1-gpio and w1-gpio-board. Are there any hints how i can get these issues fixed? Thanks! Thomas [1] http://www.friendlyarm.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=393

Hi, Sorry for the newbie question. Is it possible to configure Armbian/OrangePiZero such as it can bridge 2 wireless networks. i.e.: connecting to an existing SSID to gain access to the internet, and at the same time servicing as an access point using another SSID ? And.... how do I do that ? Thanks in advance, Richard

Hi everybody, I'm trying to build an owncloud server with my Cubieboard2 dual card, using a Debian Jessie based rom. I download both the Vanilla and legacy versions, but when I put them on the SD.. the system does not boot! The official images hosted on sunxi servers are different between the "normal" version (with NAND) and mine (with two sd slots, 1 for boot and 1 for data, but no NAND). It could be this the problem? I'm also trying to start with a clean debian installation trhough official installer for armhf but no success. Thanks a lot and have a great end of the year!

I recently bought an Orange Pi Lite and installed Armbian on it. Everything works fine except I can't write to USB drive. I'm not logged in as root. USB mounts automatically but other users can't seem to write to it. I searched this issue on the internet but could not figure out how to change permission as this is the first time I'm using a Linux machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Below is what I see when I open up USB properties. Thank you.

Can the opi zero decode anything above 1080p? I want to decode a 3MP h.264 stream (2048*1538) and re-encode it to 1080p and serve over RTSP. do I need to get an H3 for that? the wiki says http://linux-sunxi.org/H2%2B#Variants Is that HDMI specific or lack of GPU power for decoding? Will that be pushing it too much even on an OPI PC?

Lucky me received a Beelink X2 as a gift days ago. I flashed Legacy 3.4.112 to a Samsung EVO and am pretty stoked to see this display on an HDMI TV. It doesn't display to DVI but I saw reference to h3disp, so I have hope this applies. I'd like to incorporate a Traveller mode (I made that up) that can be set so the unit knows monitors are likely to change and find an automatic way for this to detect DVI. I'll also get a cheap USB soundcard and output to a monitor that has a soundbar and avoid SPDIF for a while. That's about it: play tutorials and enjoy what Armbian can do. I can't tell you how blown away I am with this neat little Beelink X2, or how much I'm in aw…

Hi! Is it only me or there are no updates to packages? Let me explain, I'm running jessie server on A20 latest stable kernel and when I run apt-get update, apt-get upgrade there are never updates available. I have experienced this for some of the latest releases and now I'm starting to thing that something is wrong with my system. Especially because I have a raspberry pi and that (yes, I know is raspbian) is getting updates to packages from time to time. I haven't modified or customized anything in the sources list. And the thing is that I'm getting updates for firmware/kernel when they are available. Any ideas? Is it something normal for armbian (/debian)?

I'm getting an error and I'd like some feedback if it is a missing package (apt-get) or a bug in OctoPrint or something wrong in Python. It looks like something is blowing up with Python trying to install a package called scandir 1.3, but I'm not getting anything when I google it with the error. Thoughts? The documentation on Git was up to date... the documentation on Octoprint.org is wrong for building it from source. I have the Orange Pi Zero - working using last week's nightly build which has the WIFI intact and I've since updated using the usual apt-get upgrade. The WIFI is awful - wired is fine - I'm using Xenial - nmtui to setup - and I have two issues - despite turning off WIFI power management and being no more than 3ft away from the (new) access point - WIFI is so sluggish you can tell when typing into a terminal!! Also despite what nmtui should do - if I turn off the access point (simulating an issue with say power) and back on, the Orange Pi Zero will NOT reconnect even minutes later without rebooting. Anyone have ideas as to (a) how to improve the WIFI to make it us…

Hi, I am trying to use the two UARTS on the I/O pins which are UART 1 and UART 2 mapped to PG6/PG7 and PA0/PA1 respectively. I have had a look at the FEX file and these seem to be mapped correctly to UARTS's port 1 & 2 so I would expect these to be mapped to /dev/ttyS1 and /dev/ttyS2 but this does not seem to be the case. If I try to connect to these UARTs using screen I simply get the message: - root@orangepizero:~# screen /dev/ttyS1 9600 [screen is terminating] I have tried searching these forums and Google but have not really found anything - any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated. So I'm pretty new at using serial ports in linux so not even sure if this is the right place. I'm playing around with MIDI using the serial ports on the Orange PiLite - it uses the baud rate of 31250 to achieve this you use setserial to get the base_baud (which it reports as 1500000) and you divide by the speed you want to get the divisor i.e. 1500000/31250 = 48 this becomes >setserial /dev/ttyS1 divisor 48 speed_cust So now when you use 38400 as your baud speed it actually becomes 31250.... ...in theory after some fiddling I found the divsor is actually 50 as 48 gives you weird results which would suggest that the base_baud is actually 1562…

Hello! I build my own image using the provided scripts. I want to be able to run a headless opi system just with ethernet and two usb wireless interfaces. The lastest build works fine when you are using it but doesn't boot if a HDMI cable is not connected. If you boot it with a HDMI plugged in there is no problem, boot ok, ethernet up and all right. I think that could be a configuration of u-boot but there isn't config files in the filesystem of the pi. Anybody kwow the solution? Thanks!

The MAC address of your wifi port on your Orange Pi Zero probably starts with C8:27:A7:F9:xx:xx I obsfucated the last 4 digits of mine. The Ethernet Port MAC starts with : de:ae:b8:d7:xx:xx I needed this when I was trying to find the device on my network to SSH in. root/1234 It showed up on my network as a reasonably "fast" device with 0ms lag. I'm running a Cat 6 network with a gigabit switch. A nice pinout that Linux34 from Orange Pi posted.

Hi. I have Cubieboard 1 with Armbian Jessie installed on NAND. I've tried to disable output during boot as described here: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Fine-Tuning/#how-to-toggle-boot-output, but there are no existing boot.cmd and boot.scr in boot partition. I've found out that uEnv.txt have same purpose but it seems that editing this file doesn't affects arguments, /proc/cmdline remains the same.

I used the wrong power adapter this morning on one of my OPI PC... what could go wrong? So far, I noticed that the poor U5 - SY8008B regulator overheated and blew. From the schematics, this seems to be connected to "AVCC" (the H3's PLL and the TV out). U11 isn't outputting anything, but chip select is off. Since this is the USB host, I'm not too surprised. Is it worth trying to reflow a new regulator on ? Wondering...

Hi guys, I tried to disable console output on uart0 using this guide https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Fine-Tuning/#how-to-toggle-boot-output But I still get boot output on uart0. I just tried my Orange Pi PC with a Samsung TV connected via the HDMI port.
