  3. It seems I have to install either of them for my chromecast to play nice. I have no prior experience with neither of them nor do I know which one is better. There are various threads on the internet but would be interested which one the community uses / trusts, cause I am a bit hesitant on adding random repos. My use case: Stream mkv on local with subs or transcode if it can't show subs. Board: Orange Pi Pc OS: Debian Stretch on 4.14.18 Would appreciate any feedback even if it's only a link to your preferred software / guide.

Hi! Is PMP support build-in in newer armbian images? I installed ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.4.3-sunxi on my banana pi. Or is a recompile still needed? With the default image i can see a dmesg "error ahci-sunxi 1c18000.sata: controller can't do PMP, turning off CAP_PMP". If recompile is needed can someone please post a link where to find step-by-step instructions how to recompile armbian with PMP support? Is the guide on htpcguides.com still correct? Thank you

Hello all, I used using opi one with (Armbian_5.90_Ubuntu_bionic_4.19.57) image. and used the uart0 pins for hardware pwm but the output was around 330mv pwm not 3.3v as i want. my initial thoughts was either the uart0 isn't disabled or there are no pull ups activated, although i tryed using this: https://github.com/iboguslavsky/pwm-sunxi-opi0 Remap pins in FEX: ; Disable debug UART0 [uart_para] uart_debug_port = 0 uart_debug_tx = port:PA04<2><1> uart_debug_rx = port:PA05<2><1> ; Enable PWM0 on PA05 [pwm0_para] pwm_used = 1 pwm_positive = port:PA05<3><0> bu…

  9. Hey folks, I'm trying to play back a couple test files, H.264, 720p. These play without dropping frames on the stock Android ROM for a little while but then freeze, seemingly on certain keyframes? It's always in the same place. Anyway, I tried playing them with mpv on Armbian 5.38 desktop install and it drops frames like crazy. I know the stock Android ROM can play back Youtube content (in the app) without dropping frames - it seems like this should be doable based on what I understand about the capabilities of the A20 and on hardware support in the legacy kernel in the Armbian image ... is there tuning I should be doing? Or options for mpv that I can try? I've used VLC f…

  11. I have spent hours trying to get any activity on my new Orange Pi PC I just purchased. I have been downloading and burning different images, reformatting / trying different SD cards, 2 power supplies, using DD, WIn32DiskImager, Rufus, scanning my SD using F3, etc lots of "pain". The solution - which I found somewhere halfway by accident - is that some boards do not have card slots mounted correctly, but you can flex the card to make it work. So yes, I flexed the SD card and applied power, and like magic I got actual LED activity. OMG it boots now! Would have worked the entire time but it did not make contact with the SD card. My solution for now is to stick a laye…

  13. Hi, I seem to have "fried" the default Debug TTL UART (the 3 pins next to the hdmi connector). (connecting the ground of the usb-ttl to TX of the UART and leaving it there for a few minutes is not a good idea it seems :-)). The orangepipc+ still works when booting from emmc (armbian 5.17 debian jessie, kernel 4.7.3) but does not seem to want to boot from microsd (tried console only 5.17/4.7.3, 5.21/4.8.1). So I would like to debug that but whatever usb-ttl I connect I don't see anything (tried 3 different usb-ttl to make sure it was not the usb-ttl device)> My question: is it possible to see uboot messages (or at least the kernel boot) via a different port…

Wifi driver could not be initialized, because I knew that these modules can operate on orange pc out of box, I began to research the problem. Cause I am linux ZERO, it took me longer time, but I finally found soulution. Problem was in fex file for orange zero, wifi_usbc_type = it´s without parameter, after I added some parameter ( "5" from working orange pc fex), wifi work like a charm. I´m not sure if it´s purpose, or bug, so I write you....

  15. I was testing the orangepi PC+ armbian build 5.20 (Armbian_5.20_Orangepipcplus_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop) when messing with it it seemed to have random reboots. I thought initially it was because it was lacking a heatsink or fan. So I added both and the issue persisted. Thinking maybe if I flashed to emmc it might resolve the issue it froze in emmc install and is effectively softbricked from what I can tell sadly. I also tested a second OPIPC+ but was unable to get it to boot. I tested with multiple new power cables as well.

  16. Hey Guys, IM finally trying to make use of my OPi0 and Im planning on creating a daughterboard/hat/shield similar to the expansion board they sell, but with only the bits i need. One thing i'm wondering is if its possible to feed the power (5v) via the pins on the expansion board and not using the OTG input. Im trying to keep it as clean as possible and dont want to have the OTG connection for power. Is the regulator only on the OTG? Hi, Orange PI Lite Armbian 5.25 (latest download available at the time of this post) ARMBIAN 5.25 stable Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i I would like to have the Pi boot without the desktop environment, and either start it manually over SSH. I don't want to remove the desktop environment completely, but rather have it bootup to command line only, and if I need the desktop environment log into via SSH and either re-edit "a file" and…

  20. Hello! There is a common issue with my Orange Pi PC +. I didn't find any solution for it. When I "shutdown -t 0" my device, it continues to consume power and the chipset is warm. Is it possible to turn the power off completely through the command line? Thanks in advance!

  21. After figuring out how to enable analog audio on the Lime2 (https://forum.armbian.com/index.php?/topic/4224-analog-audio-on-lime2-with-stable-kernel-version-49/), I now have the problem that there is a clearly noticeable mainline hum whenever no sound is playing. The hum goes away as soon as any sound is playing on the device, and it returns a couple seconds after the sound stopped. It appears like some kind of power saving feature kicks in. With the legacy kernel the hum goes away during boot and does not return. Any ideas?

Hi specialists, I'm trying to understand how the axp209 on Banana Pi works with the A20. In the Banana Pi schematics I see, that they are connected with only four lines. Two lines are used for I²C (TWSI), one is from axp209 PWROK to RESET# of A20 and another one is connected from axp209 IRQ and GPIO2 to NMI# of A20. When system is off and I press my Power Button (K1) on the Pi, the system is booting. System is running and I long press the Power Button, System shuts down. But can anyone say whats happening? What does axp209 do with IRQ, GPIO2 and PWROK pins? Wich way does the A20 recognize, that it has to shutdown? Yours Martin

  23. Hello! Brand new user here to the NanoPi Neo and even the forum. I'm planning to use a NanoPi Neo as hardware "interactor", the main idea is to connect a NanoPi Neo to a smartphone (Android or iOS), power the board from the USB cable and work in Host Mode to interact with de smartphone with libimobiledevice or adb. OTG does not support charging + data at the same time without a "special" OTG adapter. What I want to do is power the NanoPi by using the smartphone and even interact with it in host mode, like a regular computer will do, in simple terms, using a single cable, but getting power from it. Is this possible using NanoPi microUSB+OT…

  26. I have read through the forum that Banana Pi Pro does not support directly powering drive over USB as it might be too much for this board. In my setup I use 2 A power adapter for my Banana Pi and an active HUB with power supply of 1 A, but with limit of 500 mA for HDD. Still, when connecting HUB to Banana Pi and HDD to HUB the same issue appears as when no HUB is used - the red diode turns off and Banana Pi looses power. I have already tried several HDDs (500 GB, 320 GB, 2 TB) - all with the same result. Anyone has some idea why this might be occuring despite powering drives from external source? Does Armbian have any software limitations that are creating this issue? …

  27. Hello, I have been looking for days without finding an answer, so here goes. I want to know if there is a way of turning on the banana pi, without using the onboard switch. Because the Banana pi r1 doesn't power on automatically when powered by the battery connector. And i don't want to solder wires on the pwr button, but i would also like to avoid using the usb connections because of the lower power throughput. Thank you in advance for the information.

Good morning all. I was trying to power up my nanopi M1 through the VDD_5V and GND pins shown in GPIO.jpg image and/or the power pins on the debug GPIO pins, the schematics of the board power electronics are attached too on page 7 and 8, may by I'm wrong but what I see on those schematics is that all the power switchs and DC/DC converters can be powered through those pins but when I do that using a USB cable cutted on the micro USB side and prepared with the right terminals to fit the pins -with a 5V USB charger- then the tension drops aproximatelly to 4.60-4.67 DCV, the board starts by lighting dimly the power LED (as normally) but when the power LED lights strongly also…

  31. Hi, I understand that powering the Orange Pi Zero through the USB OTG interface is convenient but suboptimal due to low power, especially if you have other devices attached to the board. I've seen recommendations that powering the board directly via the 5V and GND on the GPIO from a clean and sufficiently powerful power supply is preferable. I know in theory what needs to be done but I don't know how to physically connect to the board. The GPIO is a 2x13 row of conductive holes in the board. (Is there a name for this sort of thing, by the way?) Say I have two wires, 5V and GND. How do I physically attach a wire to one a hole? Do I need to …

  35. Hi! I didn't find much info in the forum on how to correctly apply RT patch to the Armbian (Orange Pi Zero Plus H5 board). Here is how I did: Built Armbian as follows: 1) I downloaded patch-5.4.22-rt13.patch from https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/rt/5.4/ and placed into ~/build/userpatches/kernel/sunxi-current ( I saw from the logs that this is the folder for the builder to search for user patches in my case) 2) Started ./compile.sh --> FULL OS image for flashing --> Show a kernel configuration menu before compilation --> orangepizeroplus (H5) as target board --> current (recommended , which is 5.4.23…

  36. Hi! I've coded a script that allows me to create a bootable disk of my favorite systems for different boards. it does a dd of the mbr (446 kb), then with fdisk and mkfs create the partitions, and at the end copy all the data for the root partition and others. This works for raspberry pi2 pi3, but for the orange pi it works only if the sd card is the same of the one used to backup the system, so i've investigated if the fstab or boot.cmd has some uuid of the disk but everywhere i found the device name instead of the uuid identifier. 52. Hi, I found a similar thread about space problem on /boot when upgrading the kernel, but it was with debian jessie, not Ubuntu, and the proposed "trick" doesn't seem to work anymore: This is what I get: Actually, I am facing this problem since I set up my system a year ago, but didn't take the time to solve it. But now, I would like to finish the aimed set up of the device (home server) and would like to get this out of the way. Thanks for any suggestion.

I have already tried different microSD cards and different images. It used to work perfectly, but all of a sudden it stopped working. 73. Hi, I use armbian distribution on opi+2e , in order to operate the Jeedom home automation system. I occasionally encounter crashes of my opi, which becomes inaccessible in SSH. We are several users of this system to encounter the same problems. In logs, date is 1970, so we suspect a time synchronization problem. We use timedatectl for ntp synchronization, but it appears that rtc clock (fake clock) is not stable. Why? Any solution to keep rtc clock synchronous with ntp? Somes members of Jeedom community try with hardware RTC clock on I2C, and it seems working. But any existing other solutions? Thanks.

I just get this error: root@bananapipro:~# mount -o rw,defaults,nofail,user_xattr,noexec,usrjquota=aquota.user,grpjquota=aquota.group,jqfmt=vfsv0 UUID=56790abd-531d-43b7-8cf8-9bfc85105f6a /media/56790abd-531d-43b7-8cf8-9bfc85105f6a mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so. If I run the mount command without the quota stuff the drive mounts without any problems and is browseable.

  90. I have set up a server on a nanopi-r2s running Armbian version 5.15.25-rockchip64. It all works fine apart from one thing: while other devices can successfully use BIND on the server, the server itself cannot find the local BIND. If I type in this command host device.localdomain 127.0.0.1 it returns the following: device.localdomain has address 192.168.0.20 192.168.0.20 is the correct address for device.localdomain from the local BIND. If I omit the 127.0.0.1 from the command, it does not find the correct address.: device.localdomain has address 36.86.63.182 device.localdomain has address 36.86.63.182 Host device.localdomain not …

  91. Hi, I have problems with the versions "Armbian 5.25 Orangepizero Debian jessie default" and 5.26. When i install Nginx, the directory "nginx" is created in /var/log/. After a "reboot" the directory is then "disappeared", not possible to start Nginx. I can create the folder with error.log and access.log and restart Nginx. After this, it runs. After a reboot again, nginx is missig again... Any hints? The same happens with 5.25 and 5.26 on OrangePiOne, so far tested... I thing i'm not the only one with this problem. (I testet with "root" permissions only)

  92. Hello Everybody, Iḿ using a Cubietruck (Cubieboard3) I ve tried to install the Jessie Server and the Xenial Server with the vanilla Kernel. Both effords failed. The bootprocess from SD Card starts, but it dosen t come to an end. The following things happen: In the beginning there is a short warning regarding mmc. After that the bootprocess starts, but then the message "Running /script/local-block..done" appers many times. Then there is another error message and the process starts from the beginning. Details in the picture. I don t think that the SD Card or the Cubieboard is the problem, because the Jessie Server with the legacy kernel and the old cubian are…

  93. hi all, I've been running into an issue where the kernel starts throwing error messages (https://pastebin.com/bmPJPeq0), the board becomes very slow and the cpu load goes to 11 and stays there. This seems to happen when I change the CPU freq using armbian-config to anything lower than 528MHz. Any ideas how I could resolve this?

  94. Dears, I have done the last update. I lost dkms, and when trying to recompile/reinstall it, I started get strange errors. It seems binaries in linux-headers are compiled for Intel. I would even the kernel is configure for Intel. Was not able to compile the module actually. Was there some mishap? Rui

I should have known better..... today i did an apt update and saw thet there was an update to 5.38. Installed it and like with nearly every last update the device (OrangePi +) didn't boot. Did you even test updates in the stable repo before ? Don't know whats going wrong, so i will test it, but thats annoying.....

  96. Hi, I have serious problems with the 5.25 images of armbian on a cubietruck. After a fresh install and apt-get update apt-get upgrade I get errors with : dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-libc-dev_4.4.0-78.99_armhf.deb (--unpack) This is for the Armbian_5.25_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.9.7 image, with other images this concerns a different package. Only Armbian_5.25_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113 works. After this error, the filesystem seems to be defect and is remounted ro. On another try, I removed the rmount ro on error option from the fstab and the /var/lib/dpkg directory was corrupted. …

I am experiencing serious problems with booting Armbian on OrangePi Lite. I flashed SD card with a fresh image of Armbian_5.20_Orangepilite_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.img At the first boot it always freezes right after this line: Started WPA supplicant. It stays there forever and I have no choice but power off the system. At each subsequent boot the system freezes very frequently but at different lines so again I need to reset it. However sometimes it succeeds at the second boot and I am able to login as root and then create new user and enter the desktop after that. I was very happy that it finally started and everything was working fine (inc…

Hello, I've got some problems with a Cubietruck. First thing to state is that the com-port apparently has died. It was connected via a USB-converter 3,3v and worked flawlessly for a long time. I replaced it with a new one but no go. In the beginning no problem, I could use SSH. Second thing is that the hard disk became erroneous. I bought a bigger model but no boot. I thought that the UUID-entry in /etc/fstab caused this and changed it via tune2fs to the old one, but still no boot. Thus I could no longer use SSH! And I cannot mount the old harddisk, it's to erroneous! Third thing is that I tried with a new image, and the cubie seems to fina…

Hi, we bought several Lime2 and tested them. Unfortunatelly, the GBit-Lan did not seem to work reliyable. Later ping tests revealed a packet loss on many boards of 1% to 20%. (eg. "ping -s 9000 -i 0.0001 -c 5000 fritz.box"). Some boards dont have any problems, other more. On heavy access with SSD it's increasing a little. It's happens also without SSD. Other boards worked fine at the same power and network cable. Its possible thant this strange TX_DELAY isn't set correctly? Are there other problems known? I used the wheezy image with kernel 3.4.105-lime2 and 3.4.107 from you latest wheezy image. The image with Kernal 4.0.4 stopped after "restarting sshd",…

Hello, I'm using the Wheezy Image with Kernel 3.4.107-cubietruck, downloaded 25th May 2015, on my Cubietruck. Working through the Guide "Enable Access point mode" I ended up having a running hostapd with a ESSID which my clients can see but can not connect. I tried with default config given by the image (ssid=cubietruck and wpa=2 with wpa_passphrase=12345678). I also tried disabling wpa (wpa=0). But no client can connect. Starting "hostapd /etc/hostapd.conf" prints root@cubietruck:~# hostapd /etc/hostapd.conf Configuration file: /etc/hostapd.conf nl80211: Could not re-add multicast membership for vendor events: -2 (No such file or directory) Using inte…
