  2. Hi, I just joined up so I'm an extreme newbie here. I'm running the legacy trusty version of Armbian just downloaded. The HDMI display and USB ports are working fine. The Cubieboard2 is showing up in the network. I need to get the SPI interface going to talk to a microcontroller -- an STM32F303. I've enabled the particular SPI port I need in the cubieboard2.fex file (derived from the stock cubieboard2.bin file) and created the cubieboard2.bin file in /boot/bin after backing up the original. After that change, I rebooted. I got the /dev/spidev0.0 to show up. What do the parameters in the spi_board section mean? Is that documented somewhere? Thanks, Chri…

  3. Hello. My friend and I are comparing performance results with our cubietruck's. I'm using Armbian (Trusty vanilla latest update) and he's using ArmArchLinux. We tested a few dozen phoronix-test-suite tests and most results are the same except one. We both have a fresh OS install with no extras installed. The problem is with the phoronix-test-suite ramspeed integer copy test, I'm getting 812.03MB/s but he's getting 1479.73MB/s. Other ramspeed tests are giving proportionally equal results. What can explain such difference? Is my RAM running slower?

  4. I finally decided to give armbian a try on my Orange Pi One. Started without any issue and then I noticed that the 50°c idle. Sounds a bit high. I compliled mplayer with j3 and saw the temperature reaching 90°c then throttling down the frequency to 600MHz with a temperature of 70°c. Ultimately this board is nowhere faster than a RPI2 if it is stuck to 600MHz under heavy load. Or my Orange PI One has a serious problem. Any advice?

Hello, I have an Orange Pi PC with Armbian. I like the distribution very much, but I face a strange problem. After around 5 minutes of use I cannot longer open applications. When I switch to tty I see the following error: end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 3477952 mmcblk0: timed out sending r/w cmd command , card status 0xe00 mmcblk0: not retrying timeout At first I thought the problem was in the SD card, I scanned it - no bad sectors. Then I tried with the card from my Raspberry Pi which works perfectly with it. I copied the image with DD and I had the same error again. What could the problem be? A software one, or something in the power supply, becau…

  6. Hello, Using Vanilla Jessie latest image and used sd to sata/usb script to put everything on an 8gb usb stick. Everything works fine. When i add a 2.5 " sata hard drive system does not boot. Green light goen on, disk starts to spin and after a couple of seconds disk stops spinning and only red light stays on. I tried connecting sata disk after booting and i can see the disk through fdisk -l. (I put the disk on power after booting the system) I use this adapter:Power supply adapter 12V/1A , bought from olimex. Any idea what might be the case?Maybe there is not enough power to start hard disk while booting? Thanks in advance.

  7. I'm using Debian ARMBIAN 5:04 jessie 3.4.110 . I am running /usr/lib/nand-sata-install/nand-sata-install.sh script to copy the sdcard for Nand where the script performs the entire procedure to format nand , copy, etc. and at the end asks Off the device and remove the SDCard. However when starting Cubietruck without SDCard , it will not start ! As if I had not copied the sdcard contents to NAND. Interestingly More is not of any error in the procedure performed. Someone already has this problem ? Would you help me?

  8. Hi all! I have an Olimex Olinuxino-Lime2-4GB A10 cpu based dev board and I have installed Armbian on an SD card. Everything works fine, except when trying to compile some drivers for the wifi dongle that I want to use. The dongle has an RTL8188CUS chip, and I also have another dongle with an RTL8192CU chip, and when following the instructions found here the compilation fails, because of the kernel headers missing. The instructions work fine on other distributions. Could someone help me figure out how to successfully compile the drivers? Where can I get the kernel headers? I really need these drivers for my project.

  12. Hi! I plan to use a Banana Pi as a file server and install the system on the hard drive. The documentation page says: SATA/USB: pre-partitioned SATA or USB storage How does the nand-sata-install script work? Will I need to pre-partition my hard drive or will the script do it? Will it just partition it as one big ext4? Is it possible to make at least two partitions, one for the system and one for the files?

The Raspberry's "original" serial port on GPIO 14 and 15 (CON3, pins 8 and 10) can usually be accessed as /dev/ttyS2 on the Orange Pi Plus. J12 also provides another serial port on pins 4 (RX) and 6 (TX), which should map to /dev/ttyS3. only i see /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyGS0--GS4 how can i fix this issue ?

This maybe something that just isn't available yet, but if I can help with the development I am happy to. I have created the following patches as a starting point but they don't yet work. Looking at the source code for the spidev module and comparing it to the H3 datasheet, it would appear that the H3 uses the sun6i spi register addresses. Though the datasheet lists the RX and TX buffers as 64 bytes whereas the sun6i spidev driver implements 128byte buffers. I'm assuming that this wont be a problem at least for testing as long as I don't try and transfer or receive more than 64 bytes. As you can see from the dtsi patch, I have updated the module memory locatio…

At some point the kswapd0 kicks in and start using 100% of one CPU core. This is going on until I manually release the memory, eather with reboot or with "echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches". Here you can see kswapd0 with "top": However, the kswapd0 is not visible on htop, but it shows one core at 100%. The memory usage is 111 MB. 51. Hi, is the image for the M1 and Pro the same? Because after downloading, the file name is "Armbian_5.04_Bananapipro_Debian_jessie_4.4.3". On the download page for M1 and Pro the download links point to the same file. Looking at http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/i see only 5.00 for the M1. Another question i have: After the login i see 12 updates and i should run APT. Since years I'm using aptitude since it is the preferred and newer program for Debian. So the question is if i can safely use aptitude? Or is there something pre-installed and i mix up the package management. I will never understand why every tutorial on the web is using APT.

  56. Hi, after upgrading my Cubietruck it failed to boot from SSD. I suspect this has something to do with the causes discussed here: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/690-upgrade-error-with-armbian-500-on-cubieboard2-running-from-nand/?hl=boot#entry5649 and / or a proper installation of the 'board support packages'. I got the same failure message as mentioned above: FEHLER: unable to make backup link of `./boot/bin/cubieboard.bin' before installing new version: Operation not permitted Directory /boot from nand1 was mounted during upgrade. I thought the solution would be to boot from SD to SSD an fix the issues. So I changed boot.cmd accordingly …

  59. Greetings - I'm trying to use the UART2 port (Connector J11 pins 1 and 2) and I'm not having much luck with Armbian 5.0 Vanilla. There are /dev/ttyS0-7 listed, but I get nothing from them (save ttyS0 which is the main console and in use by getty). I found several other articles in here talking about how to expose the GPIO pins, but I could not see how to set the "mode" of them. Any assistance would be appreciated!

When playing around in /sys/class/gpio I am able to export the GPIO pin that I'm looking for and change it's properties, direction, value etc. However these changes don't seem to appear on the physical IO pins. I noticed that some of the pins that I'm using are shared by UART 2, so I have disabled that in the FEX file but still no luck. 100. Hello. I'm using CubieTruck, Armbian 5.00 (Armbian_5.00_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_3.4.110.zip). I installed and setup mpd, using spdif port and Tos-Link cable. Everything went well except the volume. The volume is too low to listen to the music. I can hear that, if I turn up the external amp's volume, but even I do that to the maxium, it still is very quiet. What can I do? Please give me clue. Thanks in advance~!
