I have a "Banana PRO" One USB disk, 2TB with three partitions in ext4, the first partition is mounted (hdb1), the other two are not mounted. One USB disk, 4TB with a single ext4 partition mounted (hdc1). One SATA SSD disk with a single ext4 partition unmounted (hda1). Several aesthetic considerations: After the upgrade, reboot and login, the welcome screen and 100% battery!!! Hurrah!!! It seems that the MMC is 9% occupancy and ... oh! my hdb disk has only one partition? ah no, only reads hdb1. And the other two disks? I have two mounted partitions but only shows one. Turn off the system with the poweroff order and boot from the power button again, the battery is down to…

Hm.. I'll write to you what I have done. Please tell me what's wrong. I have a cubietruck, and I downloaded this one, Legacy Jessie(http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Armbian_5.00_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_3.4.110.zip), and installed it. Install was successful, and worked good. I tried to use nand and SD, and SD only. There were no differences. The result that I want to tell you below, is the same on both cases. ......................... After OS install, I followed this instruction, and I installed several packages. Hello. Thank you for your great effort. I'm using CubieTruck, and I installed Debian Jessie(Armbian, of course), and make it boot from Nand. It was successful. However, if I insert sd card into the slot, CubieTruck won't boot. Isn't it possible to boot from nand while sd card is inserted? I want mount the SD card to /home directory. (Using USB slot works.) Thanks in advance!

Hello, I have installed Armbian on my Banana M1+ and I have noticed „something“ strange in network communication. Hi! I just installed Armbian Jessie on my Cubietruck to replace the outdated CubianX-distro. Title: Armbian 4.81 Cubietruck Debian jessie dev (unofficial) Kernel: Linux 2016.01-rc3 Build date: 28.12.2015 I use the Cubietruck as an owncloud-server and as a tvheadend-server. Hello, I have just bought a bananaPro. I would like to learn a little by installing armbian and enabling the video acceleration. Currently, I have no LCD display, so I would start to install Debian Wheezy or Debian Jessie (legacy) so that to be able to log in through ssh. Nevertheless, on the download page for bananaPro it is said that "Mali drivers fails to compile". Is this driver mandatory for video acceleration to work ? I figured out it was rather related to cedarX. Then, which armbian image is best suited ? Thanks in advance for some piece of advice. Best regards deb2016

I am using an A20 micro with an old 10" LCD from Olimex, now discontinued, A13-LCD10TS All is working without problem but no touch screen. In old Olimex Wheezy image, touch screen was working with tslib. In new Armbian Jessie image there is no tslib and touch screen is not working. Also using modprobe ft5x_ts as suggested in this forum give an error message modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'ft5x_ts': Operation not permitted FEX file seem correct and is same as old FEX used with Wheezy What I am missing? Hi all, traditionally I have used Bananian on the Bannan Pi M1+, but I thought that I would give Armbian a go as there seems to be more activity here and there are tools for compiling an entire image from scratch :-) So far I love Ambian, thank you for the work. I have tried the vanilla Jessie image (both downloaded from here and compiled myself) on the Banana Pi M1+ and with the exception of the WiFi issuet which I solved from this forum, all ran well. However I can't seem to find an SPI driver. My apologies if there is another forum post about this, I did try searching but the search function removed SPI from the query due to it being less than 4 chars :-( When…

Hi, i am new here and like to say hello. On my new cubietruck I have one after another tried to install and use wheezy and jessie with legacy and vanilla kernels. With the legacy versions i failed because there seemed to be no video-output on VGA from the kernel. The boot-process seemed to be stopped after Starting Kernel. Then i found that it was visible on HDMI but not on VGA. Because I have only VGA-Screen on my desk i went on with vanilla jessie. But on the download-page there is the note "No audio or accelarated video". What does it mean in detail? I installed mplayer but in fact there is no sound at the jack. Isn't therefore any driver available? Which …

Hello, My problem is that curl tries to use ipv6 to resolve DNS entries and my home modem-router doesn't handle ipv6 so curl fails and fallbacks to ipv4. Since updating to the (vanilla) 4.3.3 kernel, my Cubietruck has not read the real-time clock at boot time. This causes all log messages to show "Jan 1 01:00:10" until the NTP daemon kicks in. It also causes cron to remain confused about daylight savings until it is restarted. Looking at the release history at http://www.armbian.com/logbook/I see that v4.81 / 28.12.2015 includes a fix for a "Jessie RTC bug". Unfortunately it seems that this release has introduced an RTC bug! What was the fix, and is there an option I can use to reverse it? Before the update the boot messages looked like this: Jan 14 00:45:07 localhost kernel: [ 0.000000] Linux version…

Hello, First of all thanks for the very nice dist, it's clean and optimized. Unfortunately the Banana Pi is unbootable after having done the following: Migrate the root fs to my USB drive and make it bootable with the nand-sata-install script Change the hostname (modify /etc/hosts, modify /etc/hostname, run /etc/init.d/hostname.sh, reboot) run apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade, reboot Each time the Banana Pi could not boot anymore, and that happened with both Jessie and Wheezie images. I can't get any screenshots of the boot screen because it's a headless server. Any ideas? mk16

Hi, as I need to use an OS allowing me to have Cozy and Gladys (both node.js) on my router (using them it as server) I tried to use armbian for the first time. I sucessfully installed armbian on a SD Card and boot it. My BPi-R1 is not connected to a display or other periherals (keyboard / mouse). Because I do not have those materials I sold them. It is just connected with RJ45 and has a HDD connected on the SATA port. I then connected my modem RJ45 connector to my BPi-R1 on the WAN port. I connected my computer on the first port (near the WAN one). I saw my laptop do not get an IP certainly due to the fact that LAN port seems to be manually activated. …

Allwinner video HW decoding on A10/A20 using VDPAU and GLES zero-copy support for Linux There is (unofficial) support available for video HW decoding and embedding the video zero-copy via GLES within Kodi using libvdpau-sunxi and VDPAU, i.e. unlike the kodi support from rella/empatzero/others the GLES layering (video overlays) do work completely in this implementation. Additionally my driver implementation supports DivX/XVID/MS-MPEG and has sprite support for MPEG-4 over the official libvdpau-sunxi implementation. Additionally there is HW JPEG decoding support available in Kodi too, e.g. watching photos these get decoded via the Allwinner HW. (unluckily pic thumbnails…

Hi again guys, I buy some usb wireless boards to connect to the GPIO with the UART Pines, but in the especifications of the GPIO, only i see 1: Has you can see only GPIO 14 and 15 have TXD and RXD... I will use too the SPI to add other ethernet so... its possible use other GPIO for TXD and RXD?? In my Pixhawk (board for drones) i use I2C for monitoring stats via wireless (2.4Ghz), maybe this pines can work for usb wireless. If is possible, how can i program other pines for that? will be any diference? (more slow or more cpu resources or whatever?) Thanks like always!

I wanted to try 3.4 to see if I could build FFmpeg with the legacy Kernel. When I run any of the three (Trusty, Jessie, Wheezy) as soon as the script says starting Kernel, I get a few blue and green noise lines on the screen and then the screen disappears. I can use SSH and.the system is booting up and running. The one thing that I noticed is that when I log on, the name of the machine is LIME instead of MICRO. I'm running an Olimex Olinuxino Micro. Is there a config file that I need to tweek, or is the Kernel setup for a LIME? thanks MikeC

I have Armbian 4.5 Jessy Legacy 3.4.109 running in the internal NAND and tried to do apt-get update+upgrade what bricked the device. Hi friends! Here is the situation. Trying the armbian jessie 3.4.109 and 4.2.3. When installing a new soft it takes to much time. For example, when running apt-get upgrade after fresh image install, it takes about 17 minutes. Of course it contain the core update. But that upgrade part on jessie takes about 7min, on wheezy about 3min. The same thing when just install some software, like apache2 or mc. It takes to much time (for mc it takes about 1 min on jessie, about 30sec on wheezy). The same with reloading. It takes about 1min. Situation is the same on both jessie 3.4.109 and 4.2.3 Tried the same with Banana PI. The same thing. I use the fastest SD card. …

Update: checking download file, it seems that I downloaded Armbian_4.5_Cubieboard2_Debian_jessie_4.2.3.zip so it's not 4.81 no matter what the download pages said. I'm trying to install upstream kernel on Cubieboard 2 and kernel never starts. Attached is output from boot (I'm getting same on serial port). I did try different sdcard (to rule out problems with it) but I'm worried about ext4fs_devread read error and partition error. Is there something more that I can try? Legacy kernel works well, but I wasn't able to just upgrade kernel and u-boot on it, but that resulted in unbootable system -- which packages I have to install to migrate from legacy to upst…

Hi all, A week ago I started using the latest Armbian image (Legacy Desktop) for my Olinuxino A20L2. Since the switch from the Olinuxino A20 original image back to Armbian I noticed a lot of performance loss. Especially when surfing the web through Firefox on even simple pages is sometimes terribly slow. Anyone have an idea how to solve this?

Hi! Happy new year! Recently, I experienced a strange date problem on my Cubitruck. After a reboot or a powerdown/powerup the date is set to Jan, 1 1970 00:00:00 UTC (aka epoch). As far as I can see the RTC is working. ntpd is enabled on my Cubitruck. (Since it runs its own nameserver with DNSSEC, DNS resolving isn't working if the date is set to epoch. So ntpd can't reach any NTP server.) I'm running a vanila kernel with Debian Jessy (8.2): Linux vaili 4.3.3-sunxi #3 SMP Mon Dec 28 11:27:16 CET 2015 armv7l GNU/Linux Setting the date after a reboot and powerdown/powerup was working some time ago. Hi every body, Tanks igor for your great job with your linux versions for cubietruck. I installed jessie with kernel 3.4. I'm trying to make a media server with minidlna. Cubietruck is connected to the router with ethernet when i'm at home and minidlna stream fine. I sucessfully installed hostapd with your interfaces.hostapd file. Ethernet plugged, i can connect to wlan0 and access to minidlna. My problem is when ethernet is unplugged and i reboot the cubietruck. I cannot access to minidlna via wlan0. I set network_interface=br0 in minidlna configuration. Do i need to manually configure dhcp or something like that?

Hello , I have setup a banana pi with armbian: Linux bananapi 4.3.3-sunxi #3 SMP Mon Dec 28 11:27:16 CET 2015 armv7l GNU/Linux I wuld like to setup a wifi access point from a rtl wifi dongle. Hi (and happy new year everyone!), I recently put a SSD in my Cubietruck and installed the Cubietruck Vanilla Image (with Kernel 4.x) on it. This is working fine, but what bugs me is the fact that I still need to have a microSD-card installed. As far as I understood, the bootloader cannot directly boot to SATA (missing drivers). How does the bare Image on the microSD-card achieve this? And even more important: How can I move the 'important' part (which does the bootloading and SATA drivers) to NAND so I can boot without a microSD-card installed? Thanks in advance!

Dear all, I copied Armbian 4.5 (on cubietruck with kernel 4.3.3) from SD to SSD using the script "nand-sata-install.sh". The resulting system with /boot from SD and rootfs on SSD works fine. However, the "Welcome to Armbian" message generated upon login contains the error message "df: cannot access ‘/dev/sda1’: over-mounted by another device" (see below). It seems to be related to mounting /boot from SD. Do you have any suggestions how to get rid of the "df: cannot access" message ? ____ _ _ _ _ / ___| _| |__ (_) ___| |_ _ __ _ _ ___| | __ | | | | | | '_ \| |/ _ \ __| '__| | | |/ __| |/ / | |__| |_| | |_) | …

Hello there, I belong to the group of users that bought a BPi-M2 to just find out that hardware is nothing without software support. First, to my background: I do spend a lot of time at my computer using both Windows and Linux, but I am not a Linux guru. I used to configure and build kernels several years ago, at the time, when we used LILO to boot Linux. My field of interest is real-time sound processing, based on complex filter banks (ideally implemented using multi-threading). For a current project I needed something small, powerful and easily programmable. Since the BPi-M2 has 4 cores and built-in microphone, it seemed ideal for the first tries. Anyway, I…

I'm using latest armbian with kernel 4.3.3 and got some problem: I have some usb-drives that should be mounted at boot via fstab. But sometimes they are not mounted at boot, after restart they mount normally. Never had problems with same fstab, only with kernel 4.3.3 it sometimes failed to mount. Seen same behaviour with bananian with 4.3-kernel, so maybe it has to do something with this kernel? Maybe some usb modules didn't load before mounting fstab? But i'm linux noob, so i dont know what i can do... Some suggestions?

Last night I was digging through the logs, and i found an error msg that said that I was over clocking the board without without heat protection. Couple of Questions: 1 I don't have a heat sink on the CPU, do I need one? 2 I haven't done anything to the CPU speed, and running Wheezy and Jessie off of different SD's. Is overclocking turned on in the release? It is really cold here in the high Desert, right around freezing for 4 to 12 hours every night. Not as cold as northern EU, but cold. The room temp is probably 60-65 degrees F. I have the Micro in the Micro case from Olimex. Does the processor need a heat sink? thanks in advance Mike

As tkaiser would say, Lamobo-r1 has terrible design but the concept is good (multiple usage possible: network, misc services) But let's be honest, perfection is when you are dead. Like sleeping & coffee some weeks ago, I was wondering (right or wrong) if a DMA config for the lamobo-r1 GMAC would help the bandwidth issues. One CPU core is 100% with all the gazillions of interruptions to handle. Now the DMA for A20 is in the mainline kernel but I am missing some tech glue. I have read an example in the kernel 4.3 doc with DMA config (DTS) for DWMAC (*if* applicable, not only for STMMAC, but also for A20-GMAC ???) links: stmmac kernel 4.3 documentation d…

Just noticed some ugly detail: 1.) the switch is active during boot, and it defaults to all ports on one VLAN. 2.) My laptop is quite agressive when it comes to DHCP, it's connected to one of the local ports of the BPI-R, so it detects immediatly that the ethernet connection goes down and up. 3.) So I end up with the cable modems external IP address on my laptop, and a BPI-R that is unreachable, ... Any idea how to turn off the network switch in the boot loader? TiA, Andreas

I live in the desert in California and the only Internet access I have is using PDANet on my phone. Is there a way to build an SD Card using rufus (which is a great app by the way) that I can use to load LXDE on my Olimex Micro? Once I get the desktop loaded I will get PDANet working on Olimex, but this seems like the lessor of two evils. I have both Jessie and Wheezy working and I'm still running off of the SDCard's. I have SSH working in both versions if that helps. thanks in advance. Mike

Hi There, I hope I posted this in the correct forum. We run a lot of distros on a given "disk" or "sdcard" (or whatever). We call our system "Boot-Crazy". Here goes: The partition starts with a small boot partition containing the initial boot parameters, configuration, and a pointer to the partition holding the root file system we want to boot. The boot partition is followed by some number of other partitions, like this: [bOOT]-[sWAP]-[COMMON]-[COPYOF-DISTO-1-BOOT]-[DISTO-1-ROOT-FILE-SYSTEM]-[COPYOF-DISTO-2-BOOT]-[DISTO-2-ROOT-FILE-SYSTEM]... Armbian (as downloaded for the BananaPi-M2) is simply one large partition, like this: [armbia…

Hi Igor, while playing with your Armbian and kernel to squeeze even more juice from my cubietruck, i would ask you if you think it would be possible to add to your kernel and u-boot build the support for KVM. Here one experiment with KVM: https://rwmj.wordpress.com/2013/12/13/kvm-working-on-the-cubietruck/ Then, partially related with this, it would be nice to have the watchdog enabled to fight the occasional low level hang that happens sometimes (all freezed with 4 led on).

Hi, First of all: Thanks for the great work. I have installed the Armbian_4.5_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_trusty_3.4.109_desktop image and it runs smooth so far. Also I'd like to know, how I can deactivate the Micro-USB port. If I remember it right, this is responsable for the low volume high pitch noise. Thanks for all your responses. kauppi

Hi @Igor you should consider changing imagetool when you ship your image files since the Suse image tool is quite broken on Windows platforms 8 or higher since its often just gives a blank non function interface that crashes upon pressing buttons. Perhaps Rufus would be a better alternative

hi! I'm running vanilla cli-version of armbian v4-2 on my olimex lime2. However, decided to run it from a sata-attached hdd to improve speed and durability. the procedure i used is descibed here (and got a lot of help from the creator of the website, thanks!): http://papermint-designs.com/dmo-blog/blog.php?id=3, but i will shortly sum up what i did. flashed the sd with armbian cli image 4-2 let it reboot for it to use the whole card created a 10gb partition for rootfs and swap on the sata drive changed fstab to mount the rootfs on the sata (removed everything but defaults and noatime because system booted in ro-mode otherwise while running from hdd) : #/dev/…

Hi, I used Armbian_4.5_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_trusty_4.2.3 as sd card image. Later I moved it to a sata connected ssd and upgraded to 4.2.6 kernel. As I needed a second drive I bought a : StarTech.com USB 3.0 to 2.5†SATA III Hard Drive Adapter Cable w/ UASP – SATA to USB 3.0 Converter for SSD / HDD This usb to sata works fine with the ssd. The second drive is a 5v 2.5†SATA and the usb current is not enough so it is connected to the sata on cubietruck. On the second usb i have connected a usb to ethernet adapter. Trying to boot results to kernel panic (& something about no init) and cubietruck reboots. I am wondering if I need to change anything e…

Hi! The jessy vanilla image works fine, but when I boot the Olinuxino Micro with a SATA HDD connected, I don't have ethernet/ssh access anymore. Even reboot _without_ the HDD doesn't work, I need to restore the content of /boot with an SD-card-reader to make it work again. Sorry, I am (yet) not really into sunxi/uboot/kernel topics, so maybe there's a simple explanation to this behaviour?

I have root partition on SATA drive (/dev/sda1). I tried to use vanilla kernel, but it doesn't boot and even doesn't show HDMI output (I set root=/dev/sda1 in boot.cmd and recompiled boot.scr of course). But the legacy kernel with the same configuration works. Any suggestions why?

Hi Back in February '15 I have started to write an instruction about the setup of a BPi-R1 (Router). In the threads of the Forum, the information is scattered and it takes so much time for each to get along. So I thought such a document would help to become not only faster, but to achieve a better result as well, as you can faster spend time with the device and tweak it. My know how is getting better, but things are still missing. If you like to help the 'community' with your know how, please leave comments in the document if you find errors or you find something missing. Google Docs Thank you in advance - for your support Cheers Tido
