I need to clone a bigger (almost empty) sd card to a smaller one. I use rpi-clone on RPIs but since armbian has a single partition rpi-clone (or its forks) doesn't seem to work :-/ https://github.com/billw2/rpi-clone.git https://github.com/KoljaWindeler/pi-clone https://github.com/wbphelps/rpi-clone-wm.git Has anybody used successfully rpi-clone or other similar scripts on armbian? What is the best way for creating the smallest img files possible? With my RPIs I clone SDs to smaller ones, then I "zerofree" the created card and I backup it to an image file. I'm currently using this software on Windows which creates compressed img files so that I have no …

are the 1-wire modules built into legacy kernel ( 3.4.xx ) with debian jesse on an Olimex A20 LIME2 ( also the -SOM-4GB ) ? To use 1-Wire for DS18b20 temperature sensors on GPIO5 (from my fex file : gpio_pin_5 = port:PG04<0><default><default><default>) I added [w1_para] w1_used = 1 gpio = 5 to the aw_som_a20.fex file but I don't see any 1-wire modules or drivers loaded. I then used fex2bin ( in windows) to get the .bin file, copied it over and replaced the symlink from script.bin that was pointing to lime2.bin to point to my SSM_som.bin ( I changed the name of the edited one to my board name : SSM_som) Would I need to recompile the kernel t…

Hello I've just started struggling with Lamobo-R1 SATA problems and I'm facing the well-known bad customer service from SinoVoip. With the help of this forum I got finally the HD spinning but I've not seen anything yet related to hd-idle package. I'd like to know if anybody uses it and if the instructions on http://hd-idle.sourceforge.net/ are correct to recompile for the BPI-R1 board. As a matter of fact I'm stuck at the line saying "Run "dpkg...." Thanks! V.

First of all I have to mention, that my knowledge of linux is very small. I started with raspberry about two years ago and switched to cubietruck. First I didn't use Igor's image, because I wanted to have a graphical front end. After getting used to putty and ftp I swithed to Igor's image - it was very convenient, small and fast. So I also bought a banana, when Igor published an image for it, and a cubox i Pro. All of those images worked out-of-the-box - it was a pleasure to work with it, especially for a noob. In the meanwhile I switched to RasPi2 for a while, but yesterday I wanted to start again with the other ones. So I downloaded the latest images. But big s…

I downloaded and booted successfully from the Debian Jessie image available on http://www.armbian.com/olimex-lime-a10/ for the LIME. Now I'd like to install an image to NAND, but there's currently no 3.4 kernel version available for the A10. (I've also checked the mirror). I was wondering (before breaking my neck trying to build it) whether this was simply due to no image having been built yet, or due to some circumstances making it impossible to run a 3.4 on the LIME A10? Thanks

Hey, I am currently trying to get sending IR commands from my CubieTruck working. I am using Igors Armbian_4.2_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_3.4.108 image. But it seems like the modules are not initialised in a way that they also can send since irsend returns errors that this device does not support sending. I tried it with the hardware.conf from the image aswell as with the hardware.conf and init.d file from https://github.com/matzrh/sunxi-lirc/wiki. Apparently, I have to do "echo $GPIO-Number > /sys/class/lirc_gpio/tx_gpio_pin" which I did with the right pin so in theory, the driver should be set up the way it is supposed to be. Yet still irsend throws errors. Ca…

Hello, I encounter a strange behaviour with Lime2. When on battery and AC plug-in if I ask for a shutdown -h now, the board reboot by itself and the system does not stop. When on battery only, the board stop with the command shutdown -h now I read about those 2 variables CONFIG_MFD_AXP20X=y CONFIG_REGULATOR_AXP20X=y to set in u-boot/configs/A20-OLinuXino-Lime2_defconfig But after building the a u-boot package with compil.sh this setting does not have any effect... zgrep MFD /proc/config.gz command does not show the CONFIG_MFD_AXP20X=y variable Did I miss something, any ideas ? Hi, I'm using the Igor-Image: Linux cubieboard2 4.0.5-cubietruck #12 SMP Thu Jun 11 19:18:02 CEST 2015 armv7l GNU/Linux I installed a program that is using a PID-file, normally under: /var/run/fhem/fhem.pid I created a sub-folder and changed the owner and permissions. With the next reboot, all changes where lost. I noticed that the /var/run is linked to /run and this is a tmpfs. So, is there an option to add a subdirectory permanently to /run? Alternatively I will add a short script, that will do these operations after reboot, but in my opinion, that is not the fancy way... greets brenndorfler

Hi, Firstly, congratulations for your amazing work… it's impressive. I have a question regarding the SD image for A10 Lime (Linux 4.x)… Can I enable a raw serial device on /dev/ttyS1 which will use the uart0 of the FEX file? If I understand the FEX documentation, the FEX is no longer used on this kind of image, in favor of DTB files. So, how can I manage to modify the DTB file in order to customize my uart settings ? And, finally, how can I obtain a raw serial device on /dev/ttyS1 which will use it ? Regards, Anthony.

Dear All, I have used Igors Debian Wheezy Image for a long time and now and found nothing to complain about. Hi there, i needed to recreate my cubietruck as a VDR with a brand new image. Hi, I've got a quick question regarding the kernel upgrade instructions on a Cubietruck that runs on Igor's Debian image. Let me mention first that the system boots from my Cubietruck's NAND. Hi, I have been using the Aruntu 2.0 desktop for CubieTruck on my sailboat mainly to run an OpenSource charting program called OpenCPN. On Aruntu I was able to compile from source and it worked well. Aruntu is no longer supported, so I am trying to switch to ArmBian. I can compile on ArmBian, but OpenGLES is not found, so the program defaults to software OpenGL which is very slow. How can I install OpenGLES support, in order to use the hardware video accelleration ? Thanks, JM.

Hi all, i'm trying compile 3.4.*, i used normal way - i downloaded scripts to manage it, i'm successful with compilation but my issue is that i want to connect relay to banana pi J12 (DIP8) pin 5 which should be PH3 on A20 and that relay should be connected in parallel to switch button on PC ... so it means each switch (even fast) of the level can start turn off pc :-( so my issue is that uboot default configs for banana pi is having irrelevant configuration of pins that are prepared on connectors to be used as GPIO ... for example PH3 and PH5 at banana pi's J12 are not related to VBUS of USB as it's written in configs and fex, please somebody could tak…

What module should I load to get SPI working on 4.x kernel image? My usual suspect spi_bcm2708 is not available. I once used it on Banana Pi M2 from other manufacturer (SinoVOIP?) with Raspbian, now on Banana Pro I'm stuck with not working SPI.

Hello, just installed R1 image, solved power issues as described on this forum and now trying to configure it as classic home router. So I got a problem configuring DHCP server - system works in interfaces.r1 mode that means lan and wlan are bridged to wan. Wlan and Lan interfaces configured as manual that is not very handy, so I need to install DHCP server and make some NAT. And here goes a problem - I am not very skilled in linux networking and cant figure out how to combine NAT and R1 interfaces to get classical router behavior (externalDHCP-WAN-NAT192.168.0.1-internal DHCP-LAN and WLAN DHCP clients). Can someone give me directions? Maybe there is a way to install som…

Hi, I would like to ask you guys if you have any experience in deploying a Hadoop Cluster on cubieboard2. I am using Debian jessie 4.1.4 and I am having a lot of trouble doing it. The problem is with the ports, they are not opening when I start the hadoop daemons, so my question is: Is it even possible to deploy hadoop on Debian Jessie 4.1.4? I have tried everything. Fresh install, deploy a configured hadoop cluster that was working on ubuntu 14.04 LTS, forcing the ports to open which took me to an unsolvable error( related to Protocol Buffers ), but the main problem is the ports not opening, giving the Connection Refused error. Please share your knowledge…

Hi, I installed the latest cubietruck image with kernel 3.4 and xfce4 like described in the FAQ. Everything works fine so far, except that the screen goes black after 30 minutes of inactivity or so and doesn't come back by pressing a key or moving mouse. It seems like a screen suspend or so and the monitor doesn't get any signal. I haven't installed any powermanager and Cubietruck is still running and everything is accessable via ssh, even x11. After reboot screen is working again till theres the above described inactivity. /var/log/syslog has only this message I don't understand: localhost rsyslogd-2007: action 'action 17' suspended, next retry is Tue Aug 18 12:…

Hi Igor, I grabbed your 4.1 image, flashed it onto the microsd Card and boot the cubietruck. However, I received the message from my display: Out of specification: 67.5kHz / 60 Hz. The first boot is ok, but after starting the kernel the screen turns black and above mentioned message apears. This happens on the analouge (VGA) input and on the digital input (DVI) as well. How to fix the problem?? I never had any display problems with all your images. never! This is the first time. I might to use your 4.0 image to return into operation again. regards, hitam4450

The FAQ says the username is "root" and the password is "1234", but the password for the root user on at least the image in Lamobo-r1_Debian_3.2_jessie_4.1.2.zip is "pi" (apparently also the default bananian password). edit: nope, I'm just an idiot. The docs are right. Sorry! Don't see a way to delete this topic, but I would if I could.

Hi Igor, hi all, I use a BPi M1 and today I tested Igor's debian wheezy 4.1.2 image. It works really great. Thanks a lot. As mentioned in the FAQ I had a look at /etc/init.d/cpufrequtils. As written there it is possible to change the frequencies. The possible values are stored in "scaling_available_frequencies". The default value for "max_speed" in Igor's image is "max_speed=1010000". But this value ist not available inside "scaling_available_frequencies". "cpufreq-info -m" tells the current policy: frequency shoukd be within 480-960 MHz. 960 MHz is the maximum value in "scaling_available_frequencies". Normally BPi is able to run at 1008 MHz. How can I change…

The latest mainline u-boot + lamobo R1 patch does not appear to work when you try dhcp or ping on a Lamobo R1 (also known as Banana Pi R1) board. I wonder if the u-boot code needs to be modified to take care of the specifics of the GMAC/switch chip on a Lamobo R1 board. The defconfig for Lamobo R1 is the same as that for Banana Pi. Please shed some light to this issue. Thanks a lot. JLu

As soon as I installed the latest version of the Wheezy I have found that there is some problem with an USB. When I start my Orange PI I can see that USB devices are power supplied from the bus only first a few seconds (when the bootloader is active I guess) and then being switched off. When I plug an USB device and supply it externally then it seems to be working well. My question is: how to switch on power supply of the USB port on my Orange PI? I have read a number of linux forums and found nothing. Very promising seems a command echo on > /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/power/level or similar but unfortunately it has no effect. Any hint, guys? Thanks a lot. Radek

I just reinstalled my Cubietruck with the Debian jessie, image from http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Cubietruck_Debian_4.1_jessie_3.4.108.zip. Only one core is available. What could I do so that the two cores are detected? For what it's worth, the bootloader briefly displays a "checksum error" message. Could it be that I'm still using the old bootloader from the previous installation? (It was Debian wheezy in summer 2014.) Thanks in advance for advice.

the nand-sata-install always proposes the sda1 as a destination. this did not fit what i needed. i have had success by editing the file and replace all sda1 with sdxx (whatever i need) and then it works (the information gives the wrong size in the initial screen). i looked into the code (but i do not understand bash programming): it seems that sda1 is hardwired despite the intention to find all possible destinations and to offer them. it is a useful utility, as it does several things at once (copy stuff, change fstab) which are otherwise separate coordinated steps. thank you for the utily! andrew install into nand did the correct copying, but did not …

Hi, I successfully installed owncloud on the Cubietruck. Because of owncloud, I decided to give jessie a try, since there are more packages I need already included. Got all that working. Now, I wanted to make the Cubietruck into a wireless AP following the instructions in the FAQ on Igor's blog. However, i am getting nowhere. Hi there, i just wanted to report my experience with Igor Pecovnik's debian 4.1.2 image - especially since he says that I2C is untested with Kernel 4.0 and above. I have a PCTV DVB-C/T2 USB Stick (Triplestick 292e) and could make it work with my Cubietruck. I had to use Igor's compile script from the project website in my ubuntu virtual machine on Windows 7 to get the kernel sources and compile the kernel with the required options (the offered SD-Card image lacks support for I2C Multiplexing). To use this stick, you have to compile the kernel with I2C Multiplexing built in, and build the i2c mux modules for the chipset (I compiled all i2c_mux drivers as modules si…

Hi After reading this: "No audio driver, IR, NAND, BT, HW video, I2C and SPI untested on 4.0 or higher" i'm not sure which kernel version should i choose. Is that "no audio driver" means that there is no HDMI audio, or no any audio including jack audio? Both kernels support the "Allwinner Security System cryptographic accelerator"? As i'm using CB2 as a headless java application server, samba fileserver, dlna server and music player daemon server, i need only jack audio from these, and of course the hw cryptographic support.

Dear Igor, I made a custom 4.1 kernel with your script, where a staging driver (mn88472) is included. I'am trying to use an Astrometa DVB stick with mn88472 demodulator, but it's not working. Everything seems fine, no errors, every module loaded, firmware is in it's place. If I run wscan, it goes through every frequency, but it doesn't find any channel. The most weird thing is that two or three times it worked, but I don't know why, and I am not able to reproduce it. (I am using DVB-C so it's sure that the signal is fine) I investigated the source code of the mn88472 module, and as I see, I should get a notice about the firmware load status. An error message o…

Hi, I started to adjust RPi-Monitor's settings for the Banana Pi a while ago and reworked the whole stuff in the meantime (since it was focused on Banana Pi and some parts were too quick&dirty -- especially temp file handling of the temperature daemon). I also adjusted the consumption measurements for Lamobo R1 since it's the best idea to power the board through the LiPo battery connector -- for this case you need the axp209_cpu_pmu_temp_r1.conf template! Here you find an installation overview for RPi-Monitor (takes you 3 minutes if you are able to copy&paste): http://rpi-experiences.blogspot.fr/p/rpi-monitor-installation.html Here you find what's diff…

Hi All, after next collapse of our network I used the hammer to destroy the R1. This board is really shit and I will never ever continue with any kind of experiments with it.
