Rockchip CPU Boxes

A place for discussion of TV Boxes running with Rockchip CPUs (rk322x, rk3328, rk3399, etc)

  1. Hi guys, I have an x88pro 10 with a debian bulleye installation. I bought an external lcd touchscreen monitor to control my klipper printer with Klipperscreen. This screen is sold for a 1024x600 resolution but the system sees it as a 1920*1080. I can control the printer but the resolution is huge and the screens are slow. I tried to set the resolution using setenv video-mode sunxi:1024x768-16@60,monitor=hdmi,hpd=0,edid=0 but nothing change. this is the output of xrandr user@klipper:/boot$ DISPLAY=:0 xrandr -q Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 4096 x 4096 HDMI-1 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal le…

I've tried to run Armbian on HK1RBOX V2 with the latest Jammy version (Nov 30,2022). I just replaced the dtb with the one extracted from HK1RBOX V2 firmware. Here is the result -- Jammy XFCE desktop with kernel 4.19 -- Work fine. Need to copy wifi driver from the original firmware to have wifi function. Jammy XFCE desktop with kernel 5.19 -- Blocked. 4. Hi everyone, I’m experiencing a recurring and very specific issue with my TX2 TV Box, with the following specifications: SoC: Rockchip RK3229 RAM: 2GB DDR3 Storage: NAND flash (not eMMC!) Board: Generic TX2 board 🛑 Main Issue The system shuts down abruptly at exactly 29 minutes and 47 seconds of uptime (i monitoring via htop). It always shuts down at this time. It’s not a clean shutdown or reboot — it behaves as if the power was cut off. No meaningful logs appear in journalctl or dmesg, and the shutdown is instantaneous and silent. 🧪 What I’ve Tried: Disabled idle and sleep functions: Masked syste…

I have an H96Max RK3318 box which I flashed with Armbian. Is there a way to switch back to Android (original firmware). With the original firmware, pressing the reset button at power connection would take the box into recovery mode. This is not the case for Armbian, so not sure how I can flash back Android on this box?

  6. Firstly, I would like to say I know next to nothing about what I am doing at all. I'm trying to learn though! With the current shortage of decent SBCs at a reasonable price I thought being able to run Armbian on the above device would make it a very good deal. I am only interested in using the device as a server so I currently have no information on running it as a desktop though I can burn an image and post the results if anyone is interested. From reading the forums it seems many devices will try and boot from external storage of some sort before booting from emmc. This turned out not to be the case for this device. I blun…

Hi, im thinking about a new low budget tablet with RK3562 to use with Armbian. The main points would be to have the console output on the LCD and maybe also the usability of touch for direct input. There is already someone that own a similar product? (tablet with soc RK3562 or just RK) Im newbie about serial console and debugging, eventually the unlock of bootloader will be a big job or the RK share compatibility in some aspects of booting and more? I found out that there is already a NPU support on github for the RK3562 (rknpu2 repo) Thanks for the replies to all.

  8. Hi everyone, newbie here. Experienced developer with some outdated embedded experience. Very little experience in nowadays embedded technologies, but it's something I'm interested in learning about. Doing fewer hours on the day job atm and picked up one of these as a home project. Goal is to get armbian working fully on this. When (if) successful probably will do a libreElec - this should make for a powerful Kodi box. Tanix Tx66, around €50 on aliexpress, I have the 4GB RAM 32GB eMMC flavour. Product Specification: CPU : RK3566 / Mali-G52 GPU RAM : 2GB/4GB LPDDR4 ROM : …

Tried to flash it with common Rockchip Box technique with no luck (tried some roms from Armbian, firefly, and some OpenWRT method ... refer Fig. 1.5, 1.6). Anyone who can give some pointer will be much appreciate. Known techniques: - enter recovery mode = plug in the HDMI, use screw driver to poke the inner "hidden button" in audio jack, and plug power - working - another way of getting into the recovery mode = using the command "adb reboot recovery" from either network or USB type C - not able to flash - enter bootloader mode = using the command "adb reboot bootloader" from either network or USB type C - don't know how this work - enter…

I tried to install debian OS i found somewhere on internet designed for rk3528 on it as alternative but rkdevtool did not identified the image Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance,

  11. I recently did some trying to boot Armbian on this box and eventually got it not to recognize "Loader" mode using the reset button. It was working before I eventually flashed an not so compatible u-boot. I knew the risks, sh1t happens I was trying to boot Armbian from USB by the way, that is why I tried to do this. I discovered that the original firmware is the same as a H96 Max M1 PLUS as we can see from the official firmware file naming: rk3528_l001_H96_Max_M1PLUS_6621_64BIT_TAR-20251112.2200.img My question, as anyone had experience with this board? 15. Hello and greetings to the community, I have already been using the Armbian operating system, almost at the beginning of the year, a good, very stable distribution for this type of boxes, also with very important functions and applications, but I have a query, is it possible to update the kernel in this type of box ?, I am using the kernel inherited from the startup installation (4.4.194-rk322x), if it is possible, how is the procedure? and another query, when I want to restart the system, it does not restart but turns off, either with the option "restart" from the system itself or with the command "reboot from the terminal, in both cases the system turns off and I have t…

A little bit of history to help with the issue. I tried to do a factory reset via the recovery mode for my RK 3229 but did not finish. 17. I've installed Armbian legacy kernel 4.4.194-rk322x on a Rockchip box (RK3229, SSV6051 wireless chip). Most things have worked thus far but I've hit a major roadblock with the network interfaces. Output of nmcli shows that all devices are unmanaged (this includes ethernet). I've tried several remedies: - explicitly setting a managed connection (nmcli device set wlan0 managed yes) has no effect: the device remains unmanaged - in the file /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf the option of setting devices to be managed by NM was already set to true (managed=true). I have changed this to false and back with no change in either scenario …

  18. New to armbian, I have a H96Max Android TV Box, Initially I flashed it with Armbian_23.11.1_Rock-3a_bookworm_current_6.1.63_gnome_desktop but there was no signal in HDMI, I then flashed it with Armbian_22.05.0-trunk_Rk3318-box_jammy_current_5.15.35_xfce_desktop and Armbian_22.02.0-trunk_Rk3318-box_bullseye_edge_5.15.16_minimal, on both the image I was able to get the armbian running. 23. Hi Jock (Paolo) I had sent a private message, but later I saw many messages from Charles Bauer, heading a project where I am also involved. Here, we are receiving some hundreds of TV BOX, MXQ PRO, model 3228A (probably 1 of RAM and 8 of ROM) and with the task to transform it a Linux machine. Well, this task requires some scalability to do this conversion following a methodology. What I had thought: 1. Install the ARMBIAN in one these box, and configure it with all desired customizations 2. Do a back-up of this box using the Multitool (option for backup) I saw that the Multitool did a copy of whole eMMC (or NAND) memory... resulting in a file…

Hi, I installed the wrong image on a Rockchip RK3288 (Hannspree) Android 5.1 TV box. Now it won't boot from internal memory or sd-card, power on, light up or anything. Like it was hit by lightning. Is this expected? What has happened? 31. I realize this is probably a nob question and I am missing something here, but I haven't been able to find any answer to this problem, even though I was digging really hard. Whenever a streaming app allows you to see screen resolution in the settings, in my case it always shows 1080p even though all of my TVs are 4k. Same goes for Kodi, Cpuz also shows 1080p only. It is my 3rd Chinese Rockchp Box (this time HK1 RK 3528), and it has allways been the same, the prevoius ones even stuttered when playing 4k. Am I doing something wrong, or is it just jet another Chinese scam?

After watching many videos on Youtube, found that there was a semiconductor getting really hot, and there is a short on in/out. I am sure there is a replacement for that, but the problem is that I cannot find the part number or anything. Attached, picture with a circle on that. Anyone have any idea which semiconductor is that ? This is 5 PIN (3+2). Appreciated it.

I needed a bit more GPU power and RAM because i'm planning to do a electron (chromium+node.js) based home control app for the thing.
