I've been running ARMbian on my "H96 Max" for 36 hrs now, ha in VLC, i have noticed that if i play the 720 in the native default window, and don't maximize it, it plays perfect with no dropped frames, but it still tears now and then !!. it's because the video does not have to be rescaled. So obviously, the problem is that Hardware Decoding will not work with VLC, and that VLC and ARMbian are just not optimized and not up to the job !!. I have heard that with my "H96 Max"ARM and almost any other SoCs, that they can just not handle the task in ARMbian and in general, , , i was suprized to see the 4 CPU's run a 50% !!, i expected it to be no more than 10 …

Hello, i installed the newest ubuntu img on the box(aside on the sd card running). Now i get through the setup questions for logon. Only error i get is that the logon server doesn't work well. Anyway it boots now saying 'light display manager' started successfully, but there's no graphic gui to be seen. All the control f buttons don't work, or i get a scrambled screen but no gui. Can someone tell me what i can do to get into the graphic user interface? I was already doing the putty logon thing.

Hello, I have tested a lot of tv box to decode video, and lot use special kernel of vendor ( the kernel provide by android 3.14 ... ) with not completely opensource solution. And a guy (maxime jourdan) have make an "hack" of the amlogic, and use V4L2M_M2M to make the amlogic hardware decode with new kernel ( patch in 4.19 if i remenber ). It's not perfect ( the performance is poor than the special kernel ) but it's works and it's not a vendor solution and completely opensource . i have a tv box mxq pro 4k, i installed Armbian_ubuntu_xenial_mate_2018, and have a problem with display on desktop. i dont access into desktop, must access by CLI, then query armbian-config -> -> switch lightdm ..... so i just to desktop. how do i do to access desktop when boot, not must step above ?

I wonder if there is some Armbian/another distro for RK3066A based chipset. I heard something about Picuntu, but seems that the download links are no longer working and it is based on some outdated Ubuntu distro. Any idea what else can I find for this device?

Ok fairly new to ARMBIAN.... Possibly 3 hrs in. I have it running on an MXQ media box, all fine but no wi-fi... Put in an old D-Link DWL-G122 usb stick and whilst it's recognised by the usb sub system no driver gets loaded. I have installed armbian-firmware-full and there seems to be relevant firmware for the RALINK devices. but iwconfig does nothing and the device does not show up in "nmtui" I have to admit it's probably 13-14 years since I had to manually do anything with a linux driver so I am rusty! I have a board of S905W with 1GB+8GB. I want to configure sound with HDMI output during RDP (Remmina) but when I do RDP and plays a video no sound comes out. I have a kernel version of 3.14.29. Please let me know how can I enable a sound on this board during RDP.

I have a E-Z STREAM TI8 box, I have managed to boot from armbian but the installation cant execute as my mmcblk1 is not setup according to the script. This is how the partitions look like mmcblk1boot0 mmcblk1boot1 mmcblk1rpmb. Is there a risk for me to redo the partitions and run the install script? As I see it if I do this it could brink the box. I also tried to extract the dtb from mmcblk1boot0 without any luck... anyone that has a good howto for this?

I tried amlogic, but it is not still supported (https://linux-meson.com/hardware.html) the status is partial for the chips I tried. I don't what "partial" means but I can hardware decoding. I currently have a X96 Air S905X3 4GB/64GB box that has 1Gbit ethernet and a USB 3.0 port that works well with Armbian. This was bought 5 years ago for only 35 USD. I would like to find another box for Armbian that also has 1000M/1Gbit ethernet + USB 3.0. The same or similar boxes are selling for 50-60USD at the moment which is a lot for an old box. Are there any other boxes with 1Gbit ethernet at a low price that work with Armbian? Not bothered about other features, wifi quality, performance otherwise - just Gbit ethernet and USB 3. I want to install the Single armbian image on my S912 H96+ 3gb. I have previously installed it with the Amlogic image and it works right with the meson-gxm-q200 dtb. With the Single armbian image Armbian_20.08_Arm-64_focal_current_5.7.15_desktop I have modified the extlinux.conf with FDT /dtb/amlogic/meson-gxm-q200.dtb and the APPEND line. I have also put # in the other lines. I have alsor ename the u-boot-s905x-s912 file to u-boot.ext . When I boot the system it begins working but It says something wrong with the earthnet and it stops loading. Can anybody help me? Thanks

Greetings In my case , I only needed to re-install network-manager , I did it this way: - Connect box via Ethernet. - apt install wicd. -open synaptic and uninstall network-manager , network-manager-gnome and network-manager-vpn. - Rebbot - open Wicd and check if WiFi networks are detected , otherwise use dongle. - In terminal, apt install network-manager && apt install network-manager-gnome. - Reboot. - Check if WiFi networks are detected and tadaaa, yes they are. -open synaptic and uninstall : wicd, wicd-gtk, wicd daemon and python- wicd. - final reboot and everything is working fine. Hey I've managed to boot armbian on my box with S905X using meson-gxl-s905x-p212.dtb. The thing is that the screen resolution isn't properly setup. For some reason it detects Composite-1 when there's none and HDMI default is 1024x768. This isn't that big of an issue as I was able to use xrandr to fix it for my monitor. However when plugged to something bigger like TV the screen is very weird. Colors start to change color and screen has some weird artifacts. Hello all, I have a a95x r1 with a amlogic s905w 2g 16g I have tried all the awesome linux Images that Balbes150 decated so much time too. I want to try and take the ubuntu 18.04 image released for the odroid c2 sbc and run it on my box , all the main hardware is the same on both devices. The reason i wish to use this img is because it has all the mali 450 drivers setup for x11 ect... Hi, I've bought a pandoo box with an amlogic s912,2 3g of ram and a mali t820, I've found a couple of dtb files (vegas and meson-gxbb-p200.dtb I think) that make it boot but without wifi nor bluetooth, I've tried extracting the one from android using termux and dd /dev/dtb with no luck... is there anything else to try? any way to make wifi and bt work? I have now burned an image to SD card, Armbian_20.02.0-rc1.037_Aml-s9xxx_bionic_current_5.5.0-rc6_desktop_20200205 That is supposed to be compatible, what is the next step to get this to boot on Tanix S912. Is there maybe a simple script to change the Tanix to boot alternatively from SD and Android installing required changes, or do i have to edit some file and install something on the Android device to get it going? A stepwise explanation would be nice, what file to edit where it resides, and what extra software to install. JT

I installed armbian 20.04 on my beelink GT1 TV box on a fast SD card https://androidtvbox.eu/beelink-gt1-review-smart-tv-box-with-android-6-0-powered-by-amlogic-s912/ works great, but I noticed that even when almost idle, running command line utils has a delay of 2-3 seconds at least commands like docker, npm, node and more. internal commands such as df work instantly. some are rapid the 2nd time and some delay on every launch npm is probably the worst and can take up to 5 seconds is there a way for me to trace what is it doing or waiting for during that time?

I want to know when I buy a TV box, does it come with OS? Can I just load the m3u file so it allows watching IPTV? Does it allow faster switching of channel than using a Raspberry Pi?
