  2. Hello, I'm currently working on integrating a custom-made driver into my Armbian build, but I'm facing some challenges. I've researched the process and found that it should be done through the kernel configuration. However, despite my efforts, I can't seem to find any option that allows me to add a custom driver. I've attempted placing the .ko file in a /driver folder, that I created within the source, as well as in the kernel/ folder under userpatches/, but unfortunately, it hasn't worked. I'm seeking guidance on whether it's possible to add a custom driver to an Armbian build and, if so, I'd greatly appreciate any insights or step-by-step instructi…

  3. I recently purchased an Orange Pi 5 Plus and installed Armbian. It shuts down about every ten minutes. Strangely, when it is streaming video over HDMI it does not shutdown. So it can stream movies for up to three hours without shutting down. But if I am not streaming, for example if I am SSH into the device, it will shutdown after about ten minutes and I get booted out. I disabled system suspend in `settings > Power settings` but this did not help. I also just replaced the power supply with a 4 amp power supply (up from 3.5 amp) but this did not help at all. I also looked around 'armbian-config' but I did not notice any settings that could be the issue. …

  4. Hello, I'm trying to install Armbian using `armbian-install` on NVMe, with bootloader on eMMC. I have installed 64GB Foresee eMMC module and 256GB WD SN530 2242 SSD. When I boot from SD card, both storages are detected. Using fdisk, I made them both `dos` (mbr) partitioned. Then I invoke `armbian-install`, it proceeds without any problems using eMMC+sata/nvme/usb option, and I have now 512 MB boot partition on eMMC, the rest of eMMC space as secondary, f2fs partition, and ext4 partition nvme0n1p1 containing the rest of the system. I power the system off, take the SD card out, and boot again.. and I'm stuck in initramfs. From it, I can mount the nvme0n1p1 m…

I wonder if any work is being done in that direction. Every browser i tried has some sort of issues, that makes it less than usable on H3 devices. -epiphany/midori: both work decently, but lock up after some time with 25% cpu usage (could be a webkit1 issue ?) -chromium: slow and apparently absent from repos -firefox: works ok, but quite slow -net surf: very fast and stable, but not up to date for web standards (probably what makes it fast in the first place) Am i missing any browsers here ? I propose we optimize one of those, that would work best on out allwinner devices in a similar fashion of what raspberry team did with epiphany. I'm sure lots of folks…

  13. We will be configuring in a mode that allows both NFSv3 and NFSv4 clients to connect to access to the same share. Q. What are the benefits of an NFS share over a SAMBA share? A. This would take an article in itself! But as a brief reasoning, In a closed network (where you know every device), NFS is a fine choice. With a good network, throughput it disgustingly fast and at the same time less CPU intensive on the server. There are a lot of applications that support NFS "Out of the box" KODI being a common example. It's very simple to set up and you can toggle readonly on shares you don't need to be writeable. It only gets complicated if you want to start l…

Now I'm testing a RTL8088CU, it came to be recognized at first, but after typing the wifi password it restarted itself and when the call back goes into conflict with the bluetooth dongle and back off. I'm interpreting this as a driver problem, where can I find the usb wifi driver and do its installation? Thank you

  20. I been running my own images with great success thanks to rock solid build environment but one thing that catches me by surprise every now and then is that updating the system can also overwrite my custom kernel, which is is far from ideal. Up until now I been issuing an apt hold command for the packages but I was thinking maybe there is a better way. Because even with the hold in place if I don't pay close attention and do an apt dist-upgrade for example they will still be replaced despite the hold. Is there a better way to prevent my kernels from being updated by the stock kernel? Cheers!

  29. EDIT: All of the below written stuff is outdated and not recommended to run on any Armbian installation anyway. Simply use Armbian with default settings and you're done. In case you want to adjust settings, search the forum for 'h3consumption' utility. A user reported his Orange Pi One crashes randomly when staying on the lower voltage with the new fex settings so unless it's confirmed which voltages are really used or how to measure the real voltage the proposed fix here might lead to undervoltage/stability issues on some boards. …

  51. Hey, I'm currently using Debian Wheezy Armbian and think on Upgrading to Jessie. This should be no problem using the Upgrade script as in documentation. Now I've seen that also Ubuntu Trusty ist available. Is there an upgrade from Debian Wheezy to Ubuntu Trusty possible? Does it have any consequences? Or should I stay within Debian? And as additional question: I currently backup the following directories: /etc /root /home /var/backups /var/lib /var/local /var/opt /var/mail /srv /opt /usr/local Is this enough? Or how should I backup before such a upgrade procedure? Thank you for your infos. Ingo

  53. Hi, I am having problem with overscan on orangepipc on my car display. https://goo.gl/photos/19v3Ji2cAUMsLwoV6 Left border is cropped by 32 pixels and bottom is cropped by 52px. When i set up armbian after first boot, when the screen went to the bottom line, the resolution would not allow me to see the bottom line, so when it asked me to set a password for the user, i hit return - it allowed me to enter a blank password, but now when i try to config for sudo, it does not accept a blank password. If i reinstall the same thing will happen. is there anyway to change or set the admin password from a blank password? 1234 does not work or the new password i set up for root also does not work.

Does H3 core has any pin of pulled-up mode during the reset time of the controller? Please help.

I am experiencing frequent kernel panics with the RockPro64 board and assume it could be a power consumption issue with the SSD (PCIe NVMe M.2). I tested a variety of different SSDs, with the Cruzial P1 being the most reliable. Is it possible to manually throttle an SSD within Armbian, forcing it to consume less power? In my case, peak performance is not really important. This would allow me to further validate my thesis. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I have read some of the discussion regarding the wifi chip on the opi0 and that's not a great chip. I thoroughly agree with people that say that if you pay bottom dollar for a board, don't expect top dollar performance. And especially don't come complaining on a public FOSS forum. The only thing I am trying to do is understand the error and see if there is anything I can do to improve it. 93. Hi, I am using Armbian 5.90 on an BananaPi as a RTL-TCP server for an RTL-SDR stick which plugs in the USB port. Everything work fine since more than a year. Now since one of the latest updates, the RTL-TCP server doesn't work anymore 24/7. After a while, I can not connect to the server anymore. I studied the logs and it seems, that kernel/udev/upowerd powers off the USB-port where the RTL-SDR stick is plugged. The stick reinitializes, but the binding of the stick to the running server gets lost. There seems to be something new to the kernel/system which cyclically drops the USB connection to my stick. Any ideas, how to …

Hey. I have a beer-brewing machine which has software running on an olimex A13-SOM board, that has a capacitive touch panel attached to it. The company (Brewie) did'nt survive, but I really like the machine, and the potential it has. The board is running a very slimmed down linux system, so it's a bit difficult to sniff stuff out, and expand on it - so I want to install a more recent linux system on it, and try making new software for it as a shared project with other people using this machine. I managed to make a functional image using github.com/olimex/build I'm building it using: ./compile.sh BRANCH=next BOARD=olimex-som-a13 KERNEL_ONLY=no KERNEL_C…

Hello I put an image of Armbian on a micro-disk and was able to start with, and was able to start an HC1 with it. Now I put the disk in an HC2 it does start also fine. But I could not find the IP address on the network. Not with nmap and not with the utility on the provider modem. What could be wrong? Freerk Jongsma

  98. I'm trying to use H6's ARISC (CPUS) core for my CNC project https://allwincnc.github.io/ There are no problems to switch ARISC (CPUS) clock source using H3 and H5 (latest Armbian Buster). I'm using R_PRCM (0x01F01400) > CPUS_CLK_REG (offset 0x0000) register to switch clock source to the PERIPH0 PLL. For the H3 I'm using uboot script, for the H5 - own kernel module. But for the H6 this register (R_PRCM) isn't properly documented. Found out this register was moved to the 0x07010000. But modifying this register at offset 0x0000 doesn't take any effect. Just checked this using uboot cmd and own kernel module. I need your help. guys. Any suggestions …

  99. Hey folks, I want to set up my banana pi completely new with the Debian Bullseye image on armbian.com. But right now the image is marked as "unstable". Do I have to do the whole setup again when it is marked as "stable" in the near future or does it upgrade automatically (via apt-get)? Thanks for your support.
