I downloaded the Armbian_20.11.3_Odroidxu4_buster_legacy_4.14.212.img.xz and unpacked it using Keka. The integrity check I did using Quick-Hash and the Armbian_20.11.3_Odroidxu4_buster_legacy_4.14.212.img.xz.sha file provided together with the download file. As this sha file was for the compressed xz file, the integrity check was also done on the compressed image. How to check integrity on the image itself? Where do I find an sha file for the image? Thanks for you help...

I have a Banana PI M2 Zero that I am using to run a 3D printer. Unfortunately the USB port puts out 5V, which I need to disable. Is there any way to do this by editing a file or using a script? There are cases where it might be useful but I'd rather have it off permanently if thats the only choice.

Hi, I want to apply some changes to default camera driver (ov5640) to get 60-90FPS, so I just need to change same initialization values in .c file. Now, I compile a whole armbian after patching the .c file to get driver (.ko file). Is there quicker way to obtain the driver without compiling a whole armbian (just get .ko file)?

Hey folks, The tl;dr version of my question is "is there a way to stop tmpfs from being used for things like /tmp, /run, etc.?" Essentially I have an OPi Zero running PiAware and graphs1090. Graphs1090 is throwing a bunch of images into a folder under /run, which is causing the amount of free space to drop below 16M. As a result, systemctl refuses to restart some services because there isn't enough free space on /run. So...is there a way to disable the use of tmpfs for folders like /run or /tmp? Honestly, I'd rather just take the hit to the SD card rather have to deal with issues like this.

Greetings, I built armbian with these instructions (https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/#using-our-automated-build-system) I am now wondering: How can I provide specific packages, files, or config to my built image? Hello all, I am developing a video streaming device that streams video to youtube. For this, I am using NanoPi NEO Core2 as an SBC. It runs on "Base on UbuntuCore, Kernel: Linux-4.14" os version as mentioned on http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/NanoPi_NEO_Core2 Along with the SBC, I am using its shield to use peripheral ports like USB, ethernet, and debugging port. For capturing video, I am using a Logitech c920 webcam. Here I am facing two issues : 1. Hardware Issue When I connect Logitech C920 camera with NanoPi Neo Core2 via mini shield, it freezes. I am unable to understand whether it is due to the power issue, or is it due …

Hi, I'm trying to boot a legacy 3.4 kernel using the current Armbian U-Boot but progress stops after U-Boot starts the kernel. The last line displayed is "Starting kernel ...". I believe the kernel (uImage) is being loaded at 0x48000000 and the script.bin is being loaded at 0x43000000. These values seem correct to me. Does anybody know if booting these old kernels is still supported with newer U-Boot ? I'd like to have one U-Boot that can handle both old and new. Thanks, Steven

Hi, toying around with Odroid C1 kernel compilation and trying new kernels (both 5.0-rc2 and the mainline amlogic kernel) there are some patches that do no apply correctly. Both general-packaging-4.17-next.patch and general-increasing_DMA_block_memory_allocation_to_2048.patch apply correctly if I remove the part of the patch referring arm64 architecture: is this fine? For sure Odroid C1 is a 32-bit SBC.. does anyone knows why there are references for arm64? If you agree I can create a pull request to remove those lines... Thanks **Bye Piero

Hello! I have a stash of OPi H3 boards and it just occurred to me that there's no way to interface them with a storage device in any decent way. What am I missing here??? I also have a lot of 100 GB SATA SSD's, and I thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if each SBC could have its own SSD. But then I realized... how the hell am I going to get any kind of decent IO? If it's not possible with SSD's connected locally, let's forget them and then think, what other storage device can I use so that my OPi boards have some respectable IO device to work with? Please tell me where the gap in my understanding is?! Thanks!

Hello! For some weeks now my BPM1 behaves a bit strange concerning video output. I used to connect my Banana to my monitor via a HDMI-DVI cable, which worked well for a very long time. Now, when I reboot the system, my monitor says "no signal", when I use that cable, as it does also when I use a pure HDMI-HDMI cable. The only way to make the Banana's video output work, is by using a HDMI-DSUB converter. But here comes the even stranger mystery: after I booted the Banana, using that converter, I can change the cable to whatever I want: HDMI-HDMI or HDMI-DVI, they both suddenly work again! But if I reboot the Banana again, not using the H…

I'm using the image Armbian_5.38_Orangepizero_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14.7z. My NetworkManager version is 1.6.2-3. Certain NetworkManager options like wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=yes or wifi.cloned-mac-address=random for NetworkManager results in not being able to connect to a wireless Access Point anymore via nmtui. On the other hand, manually spoofing the MAC address via ip, ifconfig and macchanger and using nmtui afterwards works in all three cases.

I have a small C program where a GPIO pin on Orange Pi is polled using digitalRead. It works fine and detects HIGH and LOW as expected. When I put a dupont wire with nothing connected at the other end (ie. just extend the GPIO pin) digitalRead starts registering intermittent HIGHs and LOWs wildly. What the heck am I seeing? I have a Raspberry 3 nearby and it does not show this phenomenom. Using digitalWrite on the pin works as expected.

I was hoping to get some idea if it would be possible to build Armbian for the ODroid OGU (S922X, similar to N2+) using a different Kernel. Specifically, using the version from JelOS (https://github.com/JustEnoughLinuxOS/distribution) who have made really good progress for this specific device. I've been building JelOS and modifying packages etc, but would prefer to use Armbian if possible. Any help appreciated.

Hi! In armbian-config there's a choice to move system files from SD to HDD (or some other media). Is there a possibility to "revert" that - so that after "the action" the system would be read from the SD card again? Thanks for all your time and best wishes, Damjan

I recently took delivery of a Voltastream Zero, a just-released evaluation board which uses an i.MX6ULL processor. The support forum for that board isn't even up yet. Their main board image has neither the PPP kernel modules nor a C compiler, at least one of which I need in order to use the board for anything. How easy would it be to get a rudimentary Armbian image running on this board? I've had some luck with Armbian on my other boards and would like to see it on this one too. It doesn't have any video output or Ethernet, I just need the very basics.

I have an OrangePi PC and a BananaPi M1, and both of them are able to switch to USB host mode or device mode by editing dr_mode in corresponding .dtb file. Is there any board that can support HNP? I need something that can switch USB mode(from host mode to device mode or the other way around) without reboot the board Any advice is appreciated

Hi all, I've been reading a lot about VPU acceleration for h264 decoding and encoding. However, it seems that there is not much regarding transcoding (decoding + encoding). I would be interested in decoding 1080p h264 and encoding it back to 720p h264 in realtime. Ideally having that operation on 2 streams in parallel would be great. I've seen that quite some work has been done in cedrus As I can, h264 decoding seems to be supported but encoding is unclear. And there is obviously no comment about running both operations at the same time. Since I would like to run a few tests and maybe help a bit, what hardware should I order…

The result I get is:chmod: cannot access '/opt/vc/bin/tvservice': No such file or directory. I believe the module is set up for Raspberry pi and the issue I'm having is due to disconnected libraries? Anyways, I'm relatively a novice so any help to figure this thing out is greatly appreciated. The OS I'm using is Armbian 20.02.1. Let me know if there is any other info need…

Having downloaded the Armbian OS for my Cubox-i, I am using Gparted on MXLinux to prepare my 32Gb microUSB card for installing the extracted image. My initial problem is that I have to select the partition table type to install, from a list with msdos being the default. Is msdos the correct type or should I use one of the others offered (sun, gpt, bsd, dvh, aix, loop, pc98, amiga, atari, mac) Once that is done, what filesystem should I use to create the new partition as there are so many choices available. I appreciate any help you can provide to get me going. Thanks Ashdown

I have a Ubuntu Server 18.04 with postfix installed and configure it the same way as I did on my Helios64 running Armbian 21.02.3 Focal. Last week, one of my older drives died in the Helios, but I didn't get an email about this. My Ubuntu Server 18.04 will send me mails as soon as there's an issue in the SMART values from the drive. I didn't had to configure anything to do that apart from postfix. I can send a test mail from both my Ubuntu Server 18.04 and my Helios64 Armbian and receive both. Any idea what the reason is that my Ubuntu Server 18.04 is sending me those emails by default and how I could enable this on my Helios64?

I used armbian-config to install remote desktop service on an Odroid C2. Works great. When I add a user via command line (adduser), when they log in they get messages for authentication for network services. I also note it doesn't show the XFCE splash screens like the original user does. It can't browse anything on the wifi network but it can get through on the ethernet network. I assume I haven't added the user to the proper groups - can someone tell me what groups, or if I'm barking up the wrong tree?

I'm looking for the ability to extract coarse motion estimation from the h.264 encoder. These vectors are calculated as part of the compression algorthm and should be done on the hardware in real time - just a matter of extracting them. This extraction is done on the Raspberry Pi with "raspivid -x output". It is also exposed in picamera. Does anyone know if there is a similar capability to extract the motion vectors? If not, how one might go about doing this in python/c++? thanks, philip

Hi all. I am new in both OrangePi hardware and Armbian OS. I bought Orange Pi Zero 512 MB. I aim to develop a stand-alone device using this board. I am too confused with my readings. Do you have any idea for the following run rules together on the same board? (1) When I connect via serial (USB), it runs bash. It will ask user name and password. I can write a program, compile it, update the OS, and change settings. <This part is okay.> I want to use a GUI for this part. (2) When I supply 5-Volt power via extension pins, it runs stand-alone. It will not ask for a username and a password. It starts with an application developed in either Python or C programming lan…

Hi, I have "ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster) 4.6.5-sunxi" running on a BananPi R1 router. I used to have it set up such that while it booted off the SD card, it had its root FS on an SSD. Some time ago, I had to re-install as an upgrade went fatally wrong and now I cannot remember the exact steps to switch from the SD card to the SSD as the root FS. I changed the root= in /boot/boot.cmd and generated the /boot/boot-scr and also changed the /etc/fstab entry but findmnt -n -o SOURCE / still shows "/dev/mmcblk0p1". Can anyone tell me the steps to take in switching to a new root FS? Thanks and ... stay healthy! Josef

Hi, I upgraded 4.13.16-sunxi to 4.19.47 Seems all went fine. but after reboot the former 4.13.16 kernel is still active. My cubietruck runs sd-card+ssd with system moved to ssd by armbian-config. Maybe the issue has to do with the sd-card/ssd booting sequence? If I have the sd-card/ssd system up and running, will the sd-card be touched with later kernel upgrades too, or just the root system at ssd? Holger armbianmonitor: http://ix.io/1Lit

Hi, I have a OLED display on OrangePi Zero H5. OLED is SSD1306 (128 x 64 pixel) and is detected with i2c scan. I used this library: https://github.com/codelectron/ssd1306 and it was working just fine. However, after some time (it is possible that it was after some update) OLED display stopped working - it is showing just random pixels. I checked soldering (it is OK), even replaced OLED with another one, but no luck. I am running fully updated Armbian (10.9), uname -a says: Linux myopi 5.10.21-sunxi64 #21.02.3 SMP Mon Mar 8 00:45:13 UTC 2021 aarch64 GNU/Linux Is there any tutorial how to set up OLED display with OrangePi Zero H5 and H…

I am looking to purchase an SBC ideally under $100 to install armbian and develop some hardware projects. I had previously gone for a BpiM5 which also has EMMC but when I came to install software I found there is little support from the makers, installing software is fiddly and the most recent Armbian images for this board were not working. I eventually got this going using Ubuntu Mate. For my next project I would like to change from Amlogic CPU's , use Armbian as the software base and choose a platform which has reasonable up to date support whilst avoiding going for an RPI. Regards

Dear Members, I want to play around with docker on my NanoPI R4S, and while doing that I don't want to kill my micro SD card. For this reason I connected a USB SSD, formatted it with ext4 and mounted it onto /data. Now, I want /var to use /data/var as a bind mount, in order to lessen the burden on the SD card the system is running on. What is the right way to achieve this with Armbian? Thanks! Janos

Hi Igor and everyone else. Id'like to suggest the following: /etc/fstab It´s not necesary to use both noatime and nodiratime, because noatime already implies nodiratime, so you can use only the option "noatime" instead of both. When creating the ext4 filesystem with mkfs.ext4 you can type a label for it with the parameter " -L " so when the users mount their cards on a computer, the desktop will show some name instead "NO NAME". For example: # mkfs.ext4 -O ^has_journal -L Armbian /dev/mmcblk0p1 or... # mkfs.ext4 -O ^has_journal -L Cubox-i /dev/mmcblk0p1 Cheers - Klez

Hi, there is almost 0 documentation how to update u-boot; where to flash (dd) it, if it does support boot from rootfs on ZFS etc. Regarding the ZFS; here I assume /boot has to be on ext4/vfat and rest of the rootfs (/) as ZFS to make it works? Is there any way to flash more details on this part? I am trying to get the RS485 Waveshare CAN hat to communicate with the LePotato. I have Klipper and Mainsail installed which for most would be a good stopping point. I am using CANBUS on all of my printer builds and that requires a CAN hat. I am trying to get this working with this board as i can actually buy these boards. I have a few CAN hats working with Raspberry Pis so i know the original process. Does anyone have a good way to get this all working together? Even a point in the right direction would be a help. I did find a post that claimed to be able to do this but actually trying it as posted resulted with no know vendor as an error.

Did Amlogic provide a linux video driver which can hard-decode h.264 ? Regards !

Dear all, I'm using Armbian_5.25_Pine64_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.104_desktop. The default display resolution of 720p60 is working fine. When I change to full hd with 1080p60 it's working fine. But when I change to 2160p30 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt it isn't working. Even the eth0 isn't working any more, i.e. the LEDs are not blinking and I couldn't connect to the system any more (additional to the fact that the monitor connected to hdmi is also dark). Has anybody been successful with pine64 and 4K with that image or another desktop image? Best regards, Willy P.S.: I also did the FastEthernet fix "ethtool -s e…

Howdy, everyone! My apologies if this answer is available elsewhere, but I haven't been able to find it. I'm trying to better understand Armbian's policy toward closed-source components. Discussions on closed-components often times get confusing because "component" is overloaded, so I'm separating "components" into several categories: 1. Firmware/microcode that is loaded into hardware but never executed by the operating system itself 2. Drivers that operate in kernel space (often called "binary blobs") 3. Software that runs in user space 4. Firmware for "autonomous subsystems" or "coprocessors" like the Intel Management Engine or ThreadX on the Ra…

There are checks like this case $LINUXFAMILY in sun7i|sun8i) sun8i*) but in /etc/armbian-release variable is set like this LINUXFAMILY=sunxi I don't if these check should be changed to "sunxi" only or "sunxi" should be or-ed with existing values. There are check like these in the build system too. Regards

Hey guys, What is in your opinion the best solution to add WIFI/BT capability to a A20 board? Currently I tried to add ESP8266 connected with SDIO. (without much success so far). Then in order to add BT too I am thinking about ESP32 (with ESP-WROOM-32 module). Do you know if there are references of using this ESP32 solution to provide wifi and bt to a allwinner board/armbian ? Also this module have a lot of different interfaces available, which should be prefered? Or alternatively, do you know other armbian supported solution for wifi/bt? Best would be a solution that does not use USB ports as I need them. …
