Hello, I'm pretty new to configuring networks completely with /etc/network/interfaces and have my problems with understanding how to set up my ports adequately. What I want to do is: I want to run a DHCP-Server on all the LAN-Ports and want to use the wireless Connection as a Gateway (using NAT, no bridge). I found this to setup the Switchports as bridged.https://github.com/armbian/build/issues/511#issuecomment-262571252 But I don't know how to set the whole system up. I read lots of introduction but all people are using the WAN-Port as Gateway and setting the wireless as Access Point. That's not what I want to do. And I also was…

Are there any plans to add support for the MCP7940 real-time clock? It's much cheaper than the DS1307 and mostly compatible. The biggest difference is Reg0b7 which is "Clock-Halt" in the 1307 but "STart" in the 7940. The 7940 also has some extra register bits like OSCEN which are default 0 in the 1307. I tried naively enabling the rtc-ds1307 module and it didn't work. An actual DS1307 chip worked immediately (just hot-plugging the break-out boards while executing "hwclock -rf /dev/rtc1"). The actual error I get is: "Timed out while waiting for the time to change", "The Hardware Clock registers contain values that are either invalid (e.g. 50th day o…

I have an orange pi 2e running armbian 5.31. I wanted to use it as a pihole for blocking advertisements however it seems that it only has a link local address but no IPV6 connection to the internet. pinging 2001:4860:4860::8888 will show destination unreachable: Beyond scope of source address. However I have another PI, windows desktop on the same network than can ping the same IPV6 address. Is there a way to force "enable" IPV6?

I recently took delivery of a Voltastream Zero, a just-released evaluation board which uses an i.MX6ULL processor. The support forum for that board isn't even up yet. Their main board image has neither the PPP kernel modules nor a C compiler, at least one of which I need in order to use the board for anything. How easy would it be to get a rudimentary Armbian image running on this board? I've had some luck with Armbian on my other boards and would like to see it on this one too. It doesn't have any video output or Ethernet, I just need the very basics.

Hi Guys, My current system has 128MB of SWAP area for RAM. I think it's located on SD card by default, however I have eMMC (8GB) on board. Is there any way to extend SWAP area to use this 8GB or less of eMMC which can be faster than SD card. Is there any way to extend SWAP area even on SD card on working system?

Hey all! I'm wondering if there's a tried and tested method for preparing an armbian system to be made into an SD card image, including: * Clearing the right SSH data * Triggering firstrun to run next time * Shrinking partition * Any other suggestiosn NB : the filesystem for armbian seems to be quite different from raspbian / other. Which makes shrinking the partition from another computer quite confusing (e.g. when mounting a ripped img in ubuntu we just see one full partition across the entire SD card, even if there's lots of free space)

The new board only make difficulties the img of http://forum.banana-pi.org/ are very questionable When formatting, it always says write-protected under Windows (read-only) On Linux with fdisk is the deletion of the partitions, is not a failure message but with fdisk -l is everything as before. I have tried several attempts from the net but no success. With me are already two cards defective, are nail new. This problem is when copying with the DD command and Raspbian Pixel SD copier.

Hi everyone, I know this question has been answered earlier, but maybe something has changed with the recent versions of U-boot and kernel. So, is there any progress with support of NAND flash with A20 CPU in mainline kernel and U-boot? If NAND is not supported in U-boot, is it possible to load mainline kernel from legacy u-boot?

Hi, I'm new at this forum and I'm a little more than a newbie about linux for embedded systems. I need quickly to start an application on login of armbian, after the autologin of the user(no root). I don't know how to do. I did it in the past on archlinux using getty on tty1, but on armbian it not work. I put my application on /home/user/.profile. The system start, then I connect with ssh and my application start. It seems start as no logged user. Maybe is my board(nanopi neo) that has not output video and I can see output only with ssh or serial cable. Any advice ? Thanks a lot in advance

Hi guys, I am tying to get HW video acceleration to work without a full desktop environment. Right now, I am able to get videos to start to play with startx /usr/bin/mpv --vo=x11 video.mkv. However, the video seems to be software decoded. I have tried startx /usr/bin/mpv --vo=vdpau video.mkv but mpv failed to start with an error message "[vo/vdpau] Error when calling vdp_device_create_x11: 1Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.Video: no videoA0". I have also tried startx /usr/bin/mpv --vo=x11 --hwdec=vdpau video.mkv but the video doesn't seem to be hardware accelerated. Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks!

Hi all, I have the Orange Pi PC+ with installed latest armbian. system installed on eMMC. When I connect the LCD 7" ( http://www.waveshare.com/wiki/7inch_HDMI_LCD_(C) ) via hdmi to Orange Pi PC+ I only have a white screen. I do not know where I could change the settings in Armbian so that I can see the normal image on this display just like on a computer monitor. For RPi3 I knew what to do and where because it is described on wiki page for this display. Unfortunately I do not know linux well.

Hello people, I am interested in designing a cooler for OPI Zero and OPI LIte. Next is the formula of calculus: I am NOT able to find next parameters: T_Jmax = this is the DIE(microprocessor) wanted temperature ---> is this 30-40 degrees best temperature for OPI for well functioning in parameters? P_DMAX = power that is generated by the losses of OPI Zero board and OPI Lite board. Q_jc = thermal resistance between DIE(microcontroller) and case Can please someone help? Thanks.

I have a small C program where a GPIO pin on Orange Pi is polled using digitalRead. It works fine and detects HIGH and LOW as expected. When I put a dupont wire with nothing connected at the other end (ie. just extend the GPIO pin) digitalRead starts registering intermittent HIGHs and LOWs wildly. What the heck am I seeing? I have a Raspberry 3 nearby and it does not show this phenomenom. Using digitalWrite on the pin works as expected.

Playing with freshly installed/updated armbian, tried to compile "patched" realtek drivers for those weird realtek 81xx things. Bumped error: ./scripts/recordsmcount not found Go to /usr/src/linux-headers-whatever-version-4.x/scripts then, sudo make recordmcount After this even DKMS version installed/build without any issues. Not sure I will survive next kernel update without manual intervention with this "make", but anyway, it worked for me.

Hi, I ran into an issue when configuring ssh. As it seems, ssh listens only to the first interface that is enabled (it seems it is always eth0). Probably, if I set a listen to 192.168.x.x in the config file of the sshd (same as the IP set in the wlan0), and a different network on the ethernet, it would work, but as I won't be using ethernet I would rather disable it completly. I tried already ifdown, ifconfig down, ifconfig eth0 down && rmmod -f sunxi_gmac, and some others. I even tried removing nmtui just to check if that was causing the problem. all what that step does is removing the bond0 interface (something I would like to do too). I checke…

Hello, I am talking strictly about GPIO's value and mode at reset. Under "sudo gpio readall" of H3 core (OPI Lite) I can see that ALL GPIO pins are 0V with different alternative mode functions. Under H3 core (OPI Lite) datasheet 1.2 says that value PC3 and PC4 GPIOs are pulled up? This are in contradiction! Did anyone measured the H3 core GPIOs value? Does H3 core has any pin of pulled-up mode during the reset time of the controller? Please help.

I am aware that the Raspberry Pi 1, 2,3 can transmit Radio waves on GPIO pin 4 and 18. There are even special skins that filter the output. " Previously we posted about the Raspberry Pi’s ability to modulate one of its pins to produce FM transmissions with PiFM. A developer (F5OEO) has recently expanded on this idea, and now the Raspberry Pi is capable of modulating and transmitting FM, AM, SSB, SSTV and FSQ signals anywhere between 130 kHz to 750 MHz. To transmit with the Raspberry Pi all you need to do is plug in a wire antenna to Pin 12 (GPIO 18) on the GPIO port and run the PiTx software by piping in an audio file or image for SSTV. " …

Hi, I got a problem with orange pi zero and audio record latency. What I try to do is to record the audio on orange pi zero, send data to my phone and play it here, but the delay is big(around ~1-1.5s) that's is quite a lot. I've tested it for a few days now and I am sure the delay is on the device. What is interesting sending audio the other way(phone->orange pi zero) has no delay at all(~0.1s). First I tried to use Qt(5.9) and QAudioInput, now I switched to alsa libraries but no results. I also tried to use command line to check this arecord | aplay but still I can hear the delay. Is there any way to decrease the latency? …

Hello, Now I got 3 different sata -> USB Brigdes but none of them are recognized by any of the USB Ports. I was just wondering which sata is build onto a orangepi 2 plus so that it works. Is it even connected internally via USB? Anything is helpful, since I would like to install mediavault and it does not really make sense. :-> all the best

From time to time I want to change the SDcards on my boards, for one reason or another. So, in order to transfer the Armbian filesystem I dd from the first sdcard and later dd to the second, a very slow process. I think it would be faster to: Partition and mkfs the new sdcard Copy/tar/rsync the armbian filesystem But no board won't boot that sdcard. So I'm missing a crucial step, maybe it has something to do with u-boot?

Hi guys, I'm playing around with two orange Pi's , a One and a Lite, and thanks to all the good work here on the forum with good success. Both OPi's are running python programs, one reads and counts buttons, and flashes some leds, and the other reads my smart meter and puts the data on a webpage. both programs are still under construction but working. The problem I need some idea's for is that both OPi's crash after running somewhere between 1 day to 6 weeks. So now I'm looking for ways to figure out why they crash so i can start working on a fix. Both OPi's run on separate adapters for power, I've been measuring the amps and voltages but there is…

So, back again. I keep seeing the ethernet connection dropped. When logging in by USB the login reports IP <blank> (see picture). I saw this previously (see full set of traumas here https://organicmonkeymotion.wordpress.com/category/orange-pi/). Happens now on freshly burnt image using Etcher. Ran for two days. The problem also manifested using an image burnt with WIN32DiskImager so we can discount any FS corruption assumptions - the Etcher burn reported no errors. Call it "Phantom Ethernet" in honour of Screaming Jeeby - that is the board is haunted wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…

Am I right, that there are no wifi support at uboot level for sunxi boards? And the only similar solution to use wifi at early level is to boot linux kernel with wifi support from SPI flash.

Not sure exactly where to post this, or how to ask it, but here goes... In the 'olden days' of my Linux adventures, compiling one's own kernel was standard practice. Thankfully, now many years later, I have become content with the 'standard' kernels (e.g. Debian) that are available to me on my x86 computers. Now, enter the world of ARM-based computing, and the possible return of self-compiled kernels. In my specific case, I am interested in using Pi-like devices to run a GPS-based time server with the additional accuracy of PPS. From my understanding, there are two optional-but-useful changes that would be required to maximal accuracy: - turnin…

Hey guys! Cheap Android tablets based on allwinner chipsets were pretty common back in 2012. Recently I found an tablet equipted with an Allwinner A10 SoC (LY-F1) lying lonely around on my fathers desk. He bought that tablet back then because of the cheap price, but never really used it. Luckily my father also saved an Android 4.0.4 ROM he downloaded from the suppliers website back then, because all websites of this supplier are offline now. After playing around with my OPiZ and seeing how well the sunxi/armbian kernel works, I thounght myself i should try to boot linux from this tablet. At first I tried to pack an image that can be directly writte…

Looks like at present Armbian is based on LTS only. I am in particular annoyed by the outdated Samba release 4.3.11 in Ubuntu 16.04 and thus Armbian. Any chance that there might be a variant of Armbian adopting intermediate (yet stable) releases in the future? Or is there a way to upgrade Armbian or Samba without compiling myself? Thanks Joachim

Armbian is community driven open source project. To keep it relevant and up to date it needs maintenance round the clock. This work is done by a small amateur contributor force which was under-powered since early days and it still is. For most basic tasks! Any help is more then welcome. https://forum.armbian.com/staffapplications/ (what do we need) https://docs.armbian.com/Quick_facts/ (overview) https://www.armbian.com/get-involved/ (how-to contribute) https://github.com/armbian (sources for build engine, documentation, scripts) <---- <---- <---- Also refactoring, better wording, code cleanup. When i set up armbian after first boot, when the screen went to the bottom line, the resolution would not allow me to see the bottom line, so when it asked me to set a password for the user, i hit return - it allowed me to enter a blank password, but now when i try to config for sudo, it does not accept a blank password. If i reinstall the same thing will happen. is there anyway to change or set the admin password from a blank password? 1234 does not work or the new password i set up for root also does not work.

Hi there, I'm trying to make the r1 work as a openflow switch using open vswitch. Set cpu VLAN interfaces to associate to eth ports. ip link add link eth0 name eth0.101 type vlan id 101 ip link set eth0.101 up ip link add link eth0 name eth0.102 type vlan id 102 ip link set eth0.102 up ip link add link eth0 name eth0.103 type vlan id 103 ip link set eth0.103 up ip link add link eth0 name eth…

Hello there I have had great success using Armbian as a base OS to run my commercial application. Finally free of Microsoft Windows CE However the time is now at hand when I need to clean things up before it goes out in the field. As far as possible I need to hide some stuff and one of the things I need to do is as follows: 1. Disable (or hide- I prefer this as it is needs to be re-enabled if we have problems) the text that scrolls during boot. 2. Change the black background with the Armbian logo in the middle. I preferably want to change this to our own logo and some custom text, retaining the Armbian logo at a different position. I suspect thi…

Hi, thanks to this tutorial: I was able to add optical S/PDIF module to my orange pi zero plus 2 h3 - It works But I noticed the the every time when a sound is played it causes the SPDIF output on the OPI to initialise (switch on the red light) which takes about 1-2 seconds, after the sound has finished the SPDIF output goes back to sleep (switch off the red light). As a result on every new audio that is played the first 1-2 second is lost off This is not a problem if I'm listening radio but in case of quick phrases spoken by the synthesizer(my case) this is a real problem. Is there any way to keep S/PDIF …

I have the same problem. Using Lubuntu 14.04- 0.9.1 img for Orange pi lite. bin2fex in sunxi tools gave me "malformed data" error. using the windows bin2fex gave me "unrecognized GPIO port #12". Since this bin2fex is so critical in setting display, audio, resolution, etc. This bug made my ARM experience very bad. I understand and appreciate all the efforts in the linux community though.

How can I prevent these? What I tried: * Looked if I could …

Hello, I followed the steps Igor provided here to create separate partitions for boot & root. I'm now trying to flash my NAND using this SD card, but nand-sata-install doesn't work out-of-the-box with this setup. # df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mmcblk0p1 20M 16M 4.1M 80% /boot /dev/mmcblk0p2 3.6G 2.3G 1.1G 68% / ... I tried making a lot of modifications to the nand-sata-install.sh script, but nothing seems to work. I would appreciate if someone could direct me as to what parts of the script need to be modified. Thank you.

Hello guys I am looking for any help or hint on how to start the work stated in the title: Porting Audioinjector Pi SoundCard overlay from Raspbian to Armbian. I would like to use the card on OrangePi platform based on because H3 SoC has all required hardware: I2C, SPI, I2S(?). As far as I see, the sound card driver is based on WM8731 codec and it is using on BCM SoC I2S interface.. Can I use the similar I2S interface on Sunxi SoC? Does current mainline linux allow me to do this port at all? …

I'm not sure if anyone is interested in a very small distro without gcc, but I spent some time the last week using buildroot and armbian's source files to create a 3.4.112-rt image for the nanopi neo. It is going to be part of a realtime audio project (think synth or guitar pedal) that I'm working on and it demands a quick boot, among other things. There is also a mainline version, but it doesn't have all the fixings you folks like, so I don't know if you'd want to use that. You can find the build scripts and config files on my github. I'll be posting the legacy image in a zip file tonight, once I verify everything is reproducible. I…

Hi, I was reading for some days and don't know what's is best SBC for recording (maybe orange pi plus 2e @tkaiser). Right now, I have 6 1080p IP cameras recording 5 fps 1024 kbs bit rate in a raspberry pi 2 with raspbian and a edimax 7811 wifi. 3 cameras record over ftp. 3 cameras record by shell scripts using ffmpeg only copy not transcode. I like better bandwidth and if possible hardware decode 1080p for streaming online Videos. Thank you for your time.

Hi! I'm testing some orange pi device for use it on my projects as a substitute for raspberrypi. I need a device with OS installed on emmc. I have not had good experiences with microsd on raspberrypi due to data corruption. I thought that orangepi device with emmc flash was a good option. However I'm realizing that it is not as compatible as I thought. Make the spi display and spi smart reader work I think that's crazy. For this reason I ask you the following: Whitch device is most compatible with raspberry pi at gpios level? If had emmc or something more robust then microsd it would be better. thanks in advence

Hello, I'm running some busybox scripts in infinite loops. I have used them from long time, before I move to armbian, they work on openwrt without any problem , some of the machines was with uptime half a year and scripts never stop working. After I move to armbian, I noticed they stop from time to time. usually after 4-5 days of running. Script is run with output redirected to /dev/null There is no trace why script is stop working in the logs, so I run it in screen terminal and detach, it works more than a week without failing ........... is there a better way to see what is going on?
