I ran "apt-get dist-upgrade" on armbian 8.8 and got 8.10. Then I ran apt-get install linux-dtb-next-sunxi linux-headers-next-sunxi linux-image-next-sunxi Now the system has been busy with Setting up linux-headers-next-sunxi (5.41) ... Compiling headers - please wait ... for four days - since friday morning. The system is actually running make & gcc, with changing PIDs so it really /does/ something. I just wonder how long this is gonna take. Hardware is a Banana Pi Router R1

Hi, since I upgraded my debian-based Armbian installations from 21.08.x to 22.02.1 the DISTRIBUTION_CODENAME variable is empty in the MOTD. It seems this error is in file https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/packages/bsp/common/etc/update-motd.d/10-armbian-header since commit https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/3378/commits/1c71761973858c2bea16074075ef74157c2a960b. It tries to read the DISTRIBUTION_CODENAME from /etc/lsb-release, which is non-existent on debian-based Armbian. So I propose to read the variable from /etc/os-release instead, which is existent on Ubuntu AND Debian: --- /etc/update-motd.d/10-a…

Hi, I built a second nas from rockpi4 and as I used the 12V plug to power the tower, I thought, I could use an old pc power supply to drive both. But when I start both nas from the same power supply, both will crash. Any idea, how I could avoid that crash and stil use only one power supply? Maybe add some electronic components?

Hi all, I am building an art project, and I love the hardware specs of Orange Pi PC for it. I have a graphical Java app (built in Processing) that runs on a HDMI display, and unsurprisingly it doesn't run well without a GPU. On RPi 3B+/Diet Pi I've got it up around 24 fps using KMS, and I'm happy with that performance, but now I'm porting it to the OPi so I'm kinda starting from scratch again. I am aware of the amazing work going on with Panfrost although I've had issues installing it on my board with Buster Desktop. In general Armbian on Orange Pi PC seems pretty great, amazing even. But I'm only getting about 1 frame every 5 seconds with my Java/Processing a…

When I turn my Orange Pi 5 on, it auto-logins to the desktop which I do not want. I tried looking at nodm and lightdm but couldn't find either. I would like to disable this as it is a security concern. On a side note, as a feature request, this should be disabled by default or else something prompted for during the first time setup.

Hi guys, I try to reinstall my tvheadend, but unfortunately it always tells me suddenly some depencies which I can't solve. libhdhomerun4 (>= 20200521) But it's installed and in Buster stable only available: libhdhomerun4:armhf (20180327-1) When i try to install it manuelly, then there is the next depency to libc-bin and so on... a never ending story. Actually tvheadend worked already quite well, but suddenly it stopped working. So I thought maybe it's the best idea to reinstall tvheadend. And now there is even bigger trouble.

For compatibility reason I'd like to have an NTFS data partition as partition 1 and the ext4 system partition as partition 2. I achieved this with debian installer, but I fail doing so using armbian. Can you tell me how to achive this for armbian? My idea was to copy the prepared partition from armbian-SD-image to partition 2 and configure u boot to start from there, but I failed in doing so... thank you

Hello I am trying to build a driver for a PineCube. The driver is Cedar_Ve.ko. Unfortnately I'm running in to problems either building the driver or deploying it. Hi, I have a Helios4 NAS I haven't used in over a year. This NAS have 4 HDDs set as a RAID5 in it with valuable information that I need access to. I've installed Armbian bookworm and found that there is no /proc/mdstat file from which to recover the RAID5 array. I am now at a loss on how to rebuild the RAID5 array and regain access to the information on these drives, from what I read, mdadm was removed as a feature in more modern distros and is no longer used. I've installed mdadm however still no /proc/mdstat from which to recover the RAID array. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to rebuild this array and use it in my bookworm d…

Hi everybody, In a project I'm working on, I've added two PCA9535 I/O expanders to use 32 additional inputs on my Nano Pi Neo. I've connected the INT line from both multiplexers to the gpio11 interrupt pin on the Nano Pi Neo, and attached to that a pull-up resistor of 10k. I've used interrupts before, but my question is how to poll both PCA9535 I/O using one interrupt? my DTS when polling one (It works!): /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun4i-a10", "allwinner,sun7i-a20", "allwinner,sun8i-h3", "allwinner,sun50i-a64", "allwinner,sun50i-h5"; fragment@0 { /* This fragment is required only if using interrupts *…

Hi, Recently I generated a U-boot with SPL for an A20 OrangePi board but couldn't get it to boot. I've tried to debug this and the best I could do is find the SPL hangs/waits in a function called dread. The last display is "Trying to boot from MMC1". The U-boot version is 2021.10-rc3 from the denx.de site. After I overwrote the SPL on the SD-card with an older SPL everything is fine. I've tried changing various config options but just can't get the new SPL to work. Has anybody made a U-boot from this latest release and got the SPL to work ? Or can anybody tell me the .config settings used when building the Armbian version so I can compare them to mine …

Hi all, I have a Rock64 running on the "official" image (at the time, according to the official Pine64 documentation) "Armbian Ubuntu Bionic XFCE Desktop". Recently I updated it but suddenly it stopped working. After rebooting, all the 3 LEDs were lit, ON all the time and that was about it. I thought it was some kind of SD card corruption because it couldn't load some files from the SD card after the update and before rebooting. The only thing that came to mind to fix this was to restore a backup I had from Dec 2020. So I restored it and it worked again! But guess what... after updating the 280 packages that had an update, it stopped working again. But this time it w…

I am running bookworm on my Odroid HC4, upgraded from buster. USB stopped working, which I believe to be U-Boot related. So I am looking for a newer version of the U-Boot package "linux-u-boot-odroidhc4-current", which is at 26.2.1. I tried to change the apt sources to trixie and apt updated, but apt doesn't offer me a newer package. I am not so keen on compiling it myself, so is there a way of finding/downloading/installing a newer package...?

I am trying to investigate why borg backups, specifically when doing borg check, are taking over twice as long on armbian buster + OMV5, compared to armbian stretch + OMV4. The borg server is an Odroid HC2, and borg check runs on the server (HC2) and is single threaded. Not sure where to even start, but one thing that caught my attention is that the borg process will be running at 100% CPU at various times (as expected), but the CPU frequency at those same times was reported at 200-300 MHz when observed using htop. Is this normal? Unfortunately I don't know what frequency was normal in the same circumstances with armbian stretch + OMV4. Benchmarks …

I need the usbipd service, and that requires an extra package: WARNING: usbip not found for kernel 5.8.6 You may need to install the following packages for this specific kernel: linux-tools-5.8.6-rockchip64 linux-cloud-tools-5.8.6-rockchip64 The latest version of linux-tools that's available in the repositories is linux-tools-5.4.0-48, which does not match the installed kernel. Presumably there is a way to get the right version, but that would mean building it for the cu…

Installing Armbian on Beelink X2 just to play with. Installs but don't know answer to privateuser@beelinkx2:~"$ __________? What's the answer. I had Arm on this a few years ago and removed it. But stuck on install. The line says... The command could not be located because 'usr/sbin' is not included in the PATH environment variable. This is most likely caused by the lack of administrative privileges associated with your user account. ???????

Hi! while waiting for the raspberry pi camera module I wanted to play around with a PS3 eye camera I have. My intention is using it within ROS because I am interested in the high framerate this camera offers. Has anyone got this camera working in Armbian? If not, what would be the steps for installing the driver? Thanks!

Hello everyone, First let's just say that I know this problem doesn't concern Armbian and I understand if no one help me or this topic get deleted. I have been working with Nanopi K2 for a month to make it work with libreelec and I haven't had any luck so far, I'll share what I have done and hopefully someone who knows a lot more than I do and have the proper knowledge/skills can make this work. There is an old version of Libreelec that work with K2 without any problem but it's really outdated and I'm looking for the latest version, Here is the link for LE8.0 with kodi 17.1 for K2, (No H.265 support on this version, witch is all I need) …

Hi Guys, I have noticed that camera connected to OPI, has several frames lag. I capture image with very high speed (50 fps, camera also gives about 50 fps). Min for V4l2 is 4 buffers, so it gives about 80ms of latency. I cant find a way how to decrease this buffer count to 0 to receive the latest frame. I assume that I need to change some line in kernel and compile it. However, I cant find where exaclty.

After upgrading to Armbian 26.2, I noticed that if I mounted a network drive (samba, cifs) and even accessed it, and then tried to unmount it (sudo umount -t cifs ...), the system would freeze. Upgrading from Debian 12 (bookworm) to Debian 13 (trixie) didn't help. I did a rollback to Armbian 25.x via backup, and this problem doesn't exist there.

Hi, I need to help for understandable how set right clock hierarchy for i2s bus with external master-clock signal. This mode supported rockchip processors (RK3328, RK3399) but there are very small information how it can do. Today we have out of box in armbian for Nanopi Neo3 working I2S with master-clock from PLL, but I want change master-clock source from PLL to external signal. In souce and clock debugfs I find that I2S1 ("i2s1_pre") can be clocked from 4 sources: clk_i2s1_div, clk_i2s1_frac, clkin_i2s1, xin12m. By default parent for i2s1_pre set to clk_i2s1_div, which have parent cpll. Hence we must change parent for i2s1_pre to clkin_i2s1, but clock clki…

Hello! Recently i bought an Orange Pi 4 LTS. I choosen armbian for my os. I installed it to sd card, but I wanted more. I decided to flash the system to eMMc. It was a mistake. Instead armbian-config tool, i executed armbian-install, and flashed bootloader to eMMc 🤦♂️. After that, i was checking the sd card, reading the logs, nothing helped. I have official 5v 4a dc adapter, factory new sd card, but my board only shines with a red LED, and does not boot into the system.

Hi all, I think i have made a mistake but i don't know what. Do someone know what goes wrong? Yesterday i have played with the PCIe port on the Orange Pi 4 with the original extension module. Plugged in a Dell (Ericsson) 5560 HSPA in the board and it works all fine. It was detected. Did not get the connection working with sim tray but ok. It works and reacts on AT commands. So far so good. Then i tries to plugin a wifi card (doesn't know exactly wich one. I thought Intel 6230) but didn't want to boot and a green led lights up on the PCIe board what i has never seen before. After that i thought: ''hmm, there is here laying a old Dell Latitude D630. …

Hi! I am having a really weird issue today with my armbian system. Its default configuration is as an AP with a NGINX server running at boot so that I can connect to my board and access to a website stored locally. I wanted to do some updates to the systems, so I have switched off the board, and opened the SDcard to my debian desktop system. I have modified the autoconnect value of my AP nmconnection file to false and switched the one of my infrastructure mode nmconnection file to true, so that at next boot, my board connects to my local network and I can run my updates. my board has never shown up in my router l…

Reboot without sd > OPi3 not booted. Nothing changed. 2. apt update/upgrade, try run command. Only one option - Install/Update the bootloader on SD/ eMMC. Ok... Nothing changed. Hi everyone. I bought an ov5640 camera for my Nanopi Duo2. As their wiki clearly showed ov5640 plug and play, I thought I am facing no problems. That's not the case. Armbian seems not to support ov5640 by defualt. My problem: OV5640 do not work on nanopi duo2 with latest armbian. What did I try: I searched for answers online, but they are old (years ago), saying I have to edit some dts files to get the cam work. I tried some of them, then I messed up my system and have to re-flash the sd card again and again. I guess they might won't apply to the latest image. I wonder: Is the camera ov5640 on Nanopi Duo…

I have Armbian up and running on a Rock Pi S with a PoE HAT. To enable the audio jack on the PoE HAT I had to run the following commands as mentioned on the official Rock Pi S PoE Hat wiki. # echo 15 > /sys/class/gpio/export # echo out > /sys/class/gpio/gpio15/direction # echo 1 > /sys/class/gpio/gpio15/value Once enabled, the audio works as needed. However, every time the device is rebooted I have to SSH in and run these commands again to re-enable audio out which is obviously not ideal. How can I persist these changes between reboots?

Is there a way to skip this phase? Is it possible to force board to boot from SD card again? I have BananaPI M2 Ultra v1.1 board and my goal is to get this little device boot Linux OS from its eMMC storage. So I entered URL https://www.armbian.com/bananapi-m2u/, connected board with keyboard, display and ethernet switch and downloaded image (Bookworm CLI). Then I followed document at https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/ and was able to get my board boot from SD card. Then I made configurations as guided and lastly proceeded installation to eMMC. Then I made poweroff, took SD card out and started board. Boot started nicely but sadly stuck at sta…

Hi, I know at least some distributions don't remove modules of currently running kernels. Even when upgrading kernels and modules. Also, armbian has files like /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/01autoremove etc, which look like they're meant to accomplish the same (protect selected kernel modules from removal), but have in fact no effect (by default). How can I prevent removal of files on upgrade (specifically, kernel modules)? That is, enable the /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/01autoremove and related things to have an effect, or set some other option to do something similar. Actually, I would also prefer to keep a few previous kernels and support …

Hi, I’m running Armbian 20.11 on a RockPro64. I have a Dell DW316 CD/DVD drive and would like to use it to burn data CDs, however so far I have not been able to get it to work. I have tried to burn using Brasero, KD3 and others but no luck. The Brasero log mentioned something about ‘adapter’ error but have tried a different USB cable. I was having an issue with ejecting media in the GUI with Armbian but managed to fix that but makes no difference for this (https://forum.armbian.com/topic/16863-failed-to-eject-media-warning/?tab=comments#comment-117961). The Drive makes a whirling noise for a few seconds then stops and does that repeated…

I'm trying to compile Qt5 on my system, following this guide, got the "E: You must put some 'source' URIs in your sources.list" message. After some Google, I know you have to enable "Source code" in software-properties-gtk to use "apt build-dep", but I can't check the source code options in there. ps. armbianmonitor -u didn't gave me a URL, it detected some sort of networking problem.

Hi all, this is somewhat odd. I am using the nextcloudpi image NextCloudPi_Rock64_03-28-20.img. I believe it uses armbian (I am really not an expert sorry) and my problem is really not nextcloud related i believe. I had to cut the power to the rock64. Then i rebooted. The system clock is set to some early date (2016-xx-yy). Therefore the unmount is in the future causing an fsck. It fails miserably and drops to initramfs (where i really am lost). I don't think this should happen. I dont have a rtc battery - maybe this wouldnt be an issue if there was one attached? I hope someone can tell me how to progress or how to provide better insight …

Hi, Now that I have my NanoPC-T4 working with hardware 3D acceleration, 1080p video playback, full development environment on NVMe, Think it's time for a backup. Has anyone found a usefull utility ? Or should I just use dd to dump the eMMC partions to image files on a USB attached drive and rsync to backup the NVMe the the same ? I'd imagine to restore just boot from an install image, don't install, just dd the images to their repective eMMC partitions and rysnc to restore. Has anyone had to restore a board and how well did your solution work for you ?

Hi, we are trying to get the MIPI-CSI interfaces work on our RockPro64 with this being the current status: https://github.com/MichaIng/DietPi/issues/3360#issuecomment-1029773735 Here's the question: has anyone been able to get this to work with kernel 5.X yet, and if so how? I'm pretty familiar with kernel experiments, but research on a working example aside of some old Android stuff gives actually nothing... Best Clemens
