Hello! I established Chromiun-browser by analogy as here https://kusti8.github.io/RPi-chromium/ wget -qO — http://bintray.com/user/downloadSubjectPublicKey?username=bintray | sudo apt-key add — echo "deb http://dl.bintray.com/kusti8/chromium-rpi jessie main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install chromium-browser The browser works without notes. I established "flash" as follows: 1) Download PepperFlash from http://odroidxu.leeharris.me.uk/PepperFlash-12.0.0.77-armv7h.tar.gz to /usr/local/src directory. 2) Change directory to "/": cd / 3) Extract archive: tar --exclude=".[A-Z]*" -xvpJf /usr/local/src/chromium-pepper…

Hi there, Basically I am trying to change the wireless regulatory power for the Opi PC. I follow the instruction like in this link and it worked in Rpi: http://askubuntu.com/questions/597546/iwconfig-wlan0-txpower-30mw-not-working I modified the country of BO to 30 from db.txt so I get 30dbm signal for testing purpose. When I have done all the proceedure in Opi PC and reboot I try to type " iw reg set BO" ,nothing happened - it still stayed at 00 which is the default country set. It also appears that when I type "iwconfig wlan0 channel 13" it then changed the country to China. And by then I can change the country BO by typing the "iw reg set BO" again. When…

Hi everybody I bought new low price barcode scanner to connect it to NanoPi M1 with Armbian Debian jessie (Desktop edition). I have a catastrophic problem with this new scanner. Scanner is working with my laptop properly but after connecting to NanoPi I found that it remove some digits from barcode text in scanning. I tried so many Scanner configuration but problem is go on! I tried this scanner on Cubieboard2 with Armbian too. I tested barcodes with another branded (higher price) scanner it have no problem. It scanned all 13 digits of goods bardcode. Scenario of problem: when no near duplicated digits apear (e.g. 1234567890123) in barcode string SCANNING …

Hello, everybody! Today I've got very interesting behavior during debian8-3.4.112 startup. If the network cable is plugged in - everything is ok. dhclient starting correctly with an ip address obtained from dhcp server. BUT! If the board started with unolugged network cable, dhclient do not start. Moreover, if I try to connect network cable when the system is up and running, dhclient is never start and network is unreachable respectively. Does somebody knows how to solve this problem?\ Thanx a lot!

So basically if I wish to backup the sd card after installing the Armbian OS, how would I do that? In raspbian we put the image to sd card using win32diskimager. To backup the sd card we can just read the data back to computer and name the img file. How can we do that in armbian at least the easy way? Why we can view raspbian image's folder from window? What I understand is linux use ext4 file format which window cannot recognise as with armbian sd card? Many Many thanks!!

Hi basically i am switching from Raspberry pi to orangepi PC. Managed to find armbian which looks way better than raspberry gui! Now my problem is i used raspi-config to set login after POST in CLI in Rpi but in armbian we dont have this config thing and I want to make the system login at CLI then I could either continue to use CLI or go into gui mode by typing startx. Any ideas for this? I have tried systemctl enable multi-user.target but it seems nothing change and I also tried to find the directory of grub but there is none at armbian. Many thanks, Gabriel

I think I have a bad gc2035 module that I'll soon put aside, but there's something odd I don't understand. Since it's cheap it doesn't merit a lot of attention, but I've got something that doesn't make sense to me. If you understand, please let me know. An image at 800x600 is messed up with horizontal stripe artifacts (fswebcam -r 800x600 -p YUV420P -> foo-800x600.jpg) But an image at 1280x720, while blurry, does not have the stripe artifacts (fswebcam -r 1280x720 -p YUV420P -> foo-1280x720.jpg) Why aren't stripe artifacts in the higher resolution? I thought the sensor was completely trashed, but it produced a halfway decent image when aske…

Maybe this is a little off topic but I am researching and trying to find a PCB designer that can design a custom Allwinner board. Does anyone have any great leads for such a freelanser or firm? Any leads are appreciated. I love the platform and want to incorporate the system in a product I am working on but I realize that I will need to modify the board in order to fit my product. Cheers.

I think webrtc is a very interesting feature for such devices. Unfortunately , I only saw a drive ( UV4L : https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=105019) for Raspberry Pi2/Pi3 in linux. Does somebody here have any idea to cross-compile native webrtc source code for such a device ? Regards ! GuoFu Han

Is the SPI kernel driver enabled by default in 5.16? If not, how can I enable it in armbian (what are the magic steps raspi-config makes to enable it in raspbian - I'd like to make the changes manually in armbian) By default I can see dmesg | grep spi [ 0.454454] sunxi_spi_chan_cfg()1376 - [spi-0] has no spi_regulator. [ 0.454468] sunxi_spi_chan_cfg()1376 - [spi-1] has no spi_regulator. [ 0.455034] spi spi0: master is unqueued, this is deprecated ls -al /dev/spi* crw------- 1 root root 153, 0 Jul 13 06:54 /dev/spidev0.0 And when I attach a multisegment MAX7219 I get the same results, as if it's not really enabled and seeing the hardware.

I think that the Armbian repository needs some fixes. 1. apt-cache policy shows the following: 500 http://apt.armbian.com xenial/main armhf Packages release o=. xenial,a=xenial,n=xenial,l=. xenial,c=main,b=armhf origin apt.armbian.com I think that o=. xenial is not intended. I’d expect o=Armbian or that like. Same applies l=. xenial. The following is the output for a standard Ubuntu repo: 100 http://ports.ubuntu.com xenial-backports/universe armhf Packages release v=16.04,o=Ubuntu,a=xenial-backports,n=xenial,l=Ubuntu,c=universe,b=armhf origin ports.ubuntu.com 2. apt-get update shows weak SHA1 An apt-get update shows the following…

I have a Windows PC and I'm going to install a Linux distribution to do some software development for my Raspberry Pi and my Orange Pi. I like Mint but since I am starting over... is there any specific OS that would be easier to use than another when I am looking at Pi? Like if I wanted to build a new Armbian image. What are people generally using as their main OS for development? Edit: Build docs mention this, so maybe Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is cleanest if that's already being used by some devs? creates development environment on the top of X86/AMD64 Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, Thanks! Hi, currently I have armbian installed on an SD-Card with kernel 3.4.112-sun7i on Banana Pi. I'd like to test how armbian works installed on SATA with vanilla-kernel. Therefore I would install armbian (Vanilla) on SATA. Switching between both systems would then require a shutdown, exchange of SD-Card and startup the system again. Since i am a lazy person I'd like to know whether it is possible to use the SD-Card with 3.4.112 and just exchange the folder /boot with the one from the SD-Card I installed armbian-Vanilla on SATA (to avoid standing up, walking to the banana pi which is located in another room, exchanging the SD-Card, rebooting, walking back and sitting …

Can't compile my RTL8188eu driver any more since upgrade from 5.14 to 5.15. Any advice where they gone or how to fix the make file? Background: the shipped driver are broken when it comes to WPA PEAP Enterprise. The wifi module quickly overheats and stops. My current understanding is that this driver uses hardware encryption which overloads under this condition. My solution was to use these driver, that apparently don't use HW encryption: https://github.com/universam1/rtl8188eu Unfortunately, they don't compile any more now because of missing kernel files. Any help? Thanks

Good day! I have made modifications to the kernel driver for the temperature sensor Dallas ds18b20 on w1 bus. Slightly corrected timings, have achieved stable operation of sensors with parasitic power, and also added the option of changing the resolution. Now you can easily set 9,10,11 or 12bit resolution, by a simple command "echo 9..12 > /sys/bus/w1/devices/28-xxxxxxx/w1-resolution". Accordingly, when you lower the resolution significantly decreased the response time of the sensor from 1100ms (whith 12bit) down to 125ms (with 9bit). My question is can I post here the modified source code of the driver, or it will violate any rights? w1 folder, after mo…

Hi all, yesterday I updated my system (Banana Pi) to the latest version (5.15, legacy-kernel) with apt-get update && apt-get upgradeAfter the upgrade the fixed-IP for the device was gone. It looks like the link /etc/network/interfaces has been overwritten with a new file during the upgrade - so I had to set up fixed IP again in /etc/network/interfaces like described here: http://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#how-to-set-fixed-ip For the future I suggest changing the the upgrade-script so that the fixed IP is not overwritten. Additionally I think it would be good to write a short note in the changelog that the setting might be gone after the up…

I am experiencing problems with the gcc compiler. When I compiling a simple program it gives me the following error: main.c:6:1: error: expected '=' , ',' , ';' , 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '{' token { ^ main.c:9:1: error: expected '{" at end of input } ^ I have the 3.4.112 kernel installed, when I compile and run the same program on my desktop it works, what can the problem be? Below is the code. main.c #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include "header.h" int main(void){ printf("%d", returnSeven()); return 0; } source.c int returnSeven(void){ return 7; } header.h int returnSeven(void);

Hi, I am currently working on a OLinuxIno A20 limeX system which works in read only mode. I use the code I developped here: https://github.com/lauhub/debian-to-readonly I have small problems with armbian evolutions, since it uses, creates and modifies some files in some directories that should not be modified according to this page. Example of files : /etc/init.d/armhwinfo (modifies permissions of /etc/logrotate.d/armhwinfo) /sbin/fake-hwclock (creates /etc/fake-hwclock.data) /etc/update-motd.d/40-updates /usr/local/bin/armbianmonitor (modifies /etc/armbianmonitor/datasources/soctemp) I can easily disable these files for my purposes, but I would be gla…

Hello, I am trying to copy my system from emmc to sd so i can install my current system on another OP. First problem was that when I am booting from emmc, sd card doesn't show up (fdisk -l). So i gave up on doing it that way and now i am copying to usb flash drive as image so i can re burn to sd and use in second OP I believe the image is going to be the entire 7.3gb of the emmc. Is there an easy way to undo the fs_resize? EG sudo fs_resize -"back to minimal option here" I'm hoping that will make the image smaller. or maybe a dd option? thanks.

For what it's worth: I managed to compile VICE (classic commodore computer emulators) on my roseapple pi board running Armbian. I could not find it in the repository, so I started fiddling myself. This to address some nostalgic feelings which come by so now and then! Recipe in the spoiler.... Compiling and installation is pretty straight forward: 1) Download VICE 2.4 source-code from http://vice-emu.sourceforge.net/ 2) xvzf vice-2.4.tar.gz 3) cd vice-2.4 4) sudo apt-get install build-essential libvte-dev libasound2-dev libgtk2.0-dev libgnome2-dev 5) make 6) sude make install 7) start your trip down to memory lane with: vsid - the SID player x64 - the …

We will be configuring in a mode that allows both NFSv3 and NFSv4 clients to connect to access to the same share. Q. What are the benefits of an NFS share over a SAMBA share? A. This would take an article in itself! But as a brief reasoning, In a closed network (where you know every device), NFS is a fine choice. With a good network, throughput it disgustingly fast and at the same time less CPU intensive on the server. There are a lot of applications that support NFS "Out of the box" KODI being a common example. It's very simple to set up and you can toggle readonly on shares you don't need to be writeable. It only gets complicated if you want to start l…

I've started playing around with gpio, and thus far I don't have problems with any of the following: Access via the WiringOP C or Python bindings Access via /sys/class/gpio_sw However I can't seem to get the access via /sys/class/gpio to work. According to http://linux-sunxi.org/GPIOI need to write the pin number as defined in the fex file to /sys/class/gpio/export for 3.4 kernel (mainline kernel codes the pin number). For WiringOP pin #1 (physical pin #12 on the header), this is PD14, which is gpio_pin_5 according to the fex file, however the following does not light an LED connected to the pin: # echo "5" >/sys/class/gpio/export # echo "out" >/sys/class…

For my Orange Pi PC, I just switched from the buggy debian-image to Armbian. Armbian works fantastic, but there is one small problem with my ssh reverse tunnel. On the (old) debian system i had my script tunnel.sh: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/autossh -p2000 -fNC -R 9000:localhost:9091 -R 5057:localhost:4949 -R 8000:localhost:8888 -R 10012:localhost:22 myusername@www.mydomain.com The remote Pi will call my gateway Pi at port 2000. Whenever i call the gateway-ip:9000 i am at port 9091 on my remote pi etc. Worked flawless. After I changed to Armbian, this mini-script for tunnel.sh works, too: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/autossh -p2000 -fNC -R 10012:localhost:22 myusername@ww…

Since the question came up a few days ago on linux-sunxi IRC and Igor2 provided a nice tutorial to activate Ethernet Gadget mode, I added the necessary one-liner patch to our repo (disabled by default) and built now a kernel with all the necessary stuff patched and enabled: http://kaiser-edv.de/tmp/4U4tkD/Armbian_3.4.112_g_ether_kernel.tar.bz2 To get the idea please read through Igor2's Readme: http://igor2.repo.hu/tmp/opi_usb_gadget.txt You should run a recent Armbian installation (apt-get update/upgrade), then extract the contents of the tar archive above somewhere, install the stuff using dpkg and then reboot: tar xf Armbian_3.4.112_g_ether_…

Hey there, we are using the Olimex Lime (A20) and the Debian Wheezy image of Igor. Great work. We were wondering what you strategies are concerning updating all relevant system parts (bootloader/kernel/application). Is there any reference implementation that anyone could recommend? We are following the trend of building "Murphy-compatible" (https://www.kernel.org/doc/ols/2005/ols2005v1-pages-21-36.pdf) update mechanisms, but are looking how it is best done. Application wise this can be fairly easy be done via docker - which we are using - but what mechanisms are used for the bootloader itself and the kernel. The should be an atomic update procedure an…

Hi, We can access port usig eg. echo 1 >/sys/class/leds/green_led/brightness (or red_led) echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/gpio_sw.0/gpio_sw/PA6/data (other ports) My question is as follows: How to access to ports using C language ? Hello everybody, and thank you Igor for developing, and the community for supporting amrbian, it's really a marvel and works like a charm on my Orange PC. I also apologise beforehand for my lack of experience or knowledge with linux. So, I setup my OPi PC to work as an always-on torrent box using jessie dekstop. I installed transmission on it and it works great, except one thing that causes me problems. I download and seed to torrents on a 64 gb sandisk usb flash key, and every time I reset the device, the usb key gets mounted at a new mount point. For instance, if I set up transmission to use /sandisk/downloads folder to download, it does fine, but after a reset, the os…

When I try to login for the first time on an Odroid C2 and I follow these steps: Root password is 1234. You will be prompted to change this password and to create a normal user at first login. Then I get the following error: Authentication token manipulation error The password is reset and I go through through steps 1 and 2. I've tried using 5 different passwords with the same result. Any ideas?

We need you to help us improve THS settings. In case you have a Banana Pi M2+, OPi One, Lite or NanoPi M1 without heatsink and are that experienced to build Armbian images on your own (requires an x86-64 PC/VM running Ubuntu 14.04 or 16.04) or install a new kernel using .debs as outlined below and also want to help developing better settings (less temperatures, more performance in throttling situations) then please read through this whole Github issue here: https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/issues/298 If you're not already too discouraged by this stuff then we ask you to build/install a new legacy kernel for Orange Pi H3 or Banana Pi M2+ and ensure /boot/script.bin …

Hey, I'm currently using Debian Wheezy Armbian and think on Upgrading to Jessie. This should be no problem using the Upgrade script as in documentation. Now I've seen that also Ubuntu Trusty ist available. Is there an upgrade from Debian Wheezy to Ubuntu Trusty possible? Does it have any consequences? Or should I stay within Debian? And as additional question: I currently backup the following directories: /etc /root /home /var/backups /var/lib /var/local /var/opt /var/mail /srv /opt /usr/local Is this enough? Or how should I backup before such a upgrade procedure? Thank you for your infos. Ingo

Sorry for a newbie question. I am setting up a raid system based on flash drives on a Orange Pi One and every thing is working fine. I am now thinking of moving from ext4 for F2FS but I can't figure out how to get it to work. I have installed f2fs-tools and managed to format the drive but I can't seem to mount it. I can't seem to run "modprobe f2fs". Does this mean that I need to recombile the kernel or what? I am not intending to boot from f2fs. Just mount the raid system for storage.

Hi I would like to add Armbian version to banner after login (eg. v5.10) to be sure that I'm using latest version. Is this value stored somewhere in the filesystem? I already checked: /proc/version /etc/debian_version /etc/os-release but it's not there. I found it in /etc/armbian.txt but this is plain text file and parsing it to fetch the value is a little overkill. Is there a better place where I can find it?

Dear all, I come with a basic question: is armbian for H3 advanced enough and without roadblocks future proof, or is it still risky? Should it soon become mainline or for one or more years, it will be mainly for advanced users? I need to set-up a Openelec platform with software DSP features (ALSA, LADSPA, SOX...). I need easy to setup audio features (over USB, I2S, HDMI). I'm far from being a Linux expert. I don' t know how to compile an image, I discover SBC world.... I don't want to enter in too steep learning curve, and be able to focus on my project. Are H3 and Orange pi products ok for me, or would you advice to go directly to Rpi? I understand that there…

Hi guys, I have a BPI-M3, and wanted to roll my own build, given the current dissatisfaction with the builds provided by Sinovoip themselves. In any case, I have tested this locally, and it builds a bootable sd card, which works on UART only. It doesn't have working ethernet or WiFi, but at least you can interact with it over UART. Please feel free to review and comment on the script, and let me know if there are any issues running in your environment (ie, prerequisites that I have already, and make an invalid assumption that it is present). As per the comment inside the script, it will wipe the sdcard specified, and repartition with one partition whic…

EDIT: This is NOT about a (hidden) backdoor but just a local privileges escalation that affects one single 3.4 kernel variant for 2 Allwinner SoCs. In case you came here through lurid headlines please read this comment here first and help stop spreading further BS like "all Allwinner devices contain a hidden backdoor" -- the code has been found since Allwinner could be convinced to open their Github repos in the past so everyone is able to audit their Android kernel source! It has been brought to our attention two days ago on 2016-04-30 in linux-sunxi IRC that Allwinner's 3.4 legacy kernel for H3/A83T/H8 contains a nasty local privileges escalation. Any process …

As of 25 April, one year after the release of Debian 8, alias "Jessie", and nearly three years after the release of Debian 7, alias "Wheezy", regular security support for Wheezy comes to an end. The Debian Long Term Support (LTS) Team will take over security support. https://www.debian.org/News/2016/20160425 Important: Wheezy-LTS only supports i386 and amd64. The support for armel and armhf is waiting for confirmation from all related Debian Teams. Users of other architectures are encouraged to upgrade to Debian 8 ("Jessie").

Hello, I am runnign armbian 5.05 jessie server on an OrangePi One. I wish to test network audio streams so I installed pulseaudio to do some tests. As long as ALSA works fine with HDMI output, I thought that pulseaudio would work the same, but I was wrong. The basic pulseaudio installation (apt-get install pulseaudio) turned to be a non effective way to obtain pulseaudio support. Actually this is strange because if I set the default pulseaudio sink to analog audio, it works fine (I get no sound but just because the Opi One has no analog connector). When I set the default sink to hdmi audio, I get indiscernible short discharges instead of music and pulseaudio…
