It looks like the GH repo is being renamed from https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib to https://github.com/armbian/build However, the scripts still point to the old location. What are the plans for the GH repo? Is armbian/build the new official location and the scripts will be updated in time? Would a PR be welcome that updates the scripts to the new repo location? Cheers,

hi Everyone! I need an image with this Ubuntu server 16.04 no Desktop environment, only console. This is for projects, programming something, like a kiosk, just run an application, the system should be light, and haven't additional applications like browser, LibreOffice, etc. how can I compile this image? Thx From Mx.!

Hi Board, I have submitted a PR a few minutes ago to Build repo (https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/927) removing some drivers that WILL NOT load in RK3288, because they are specific to other SoCs / Architectures. I also took the opportunity to convert a batch of drivers / machines to modules, in order to alleviate the kernel size and squeeze some performance (because some of the loaded stuffs does effectively consumes CPU). Well, that's what modules are meant for, right? The patch was crafted to DEV version. Need more extensive Tinkerboard tests (did not test the GUI) and MiQi (not tested at all, I lack the hardware). Ha…

As many of you know, lots of git repositories are automatically built every time there's a pull request, letting the project community know if that commit will introduce a flaw of some kind. If it's a help to Armbian, I'd like to configure a cloud-based build system that should be able to cut the "build all" time down to about 10% of what it is, and possibly to a number lower than that. Here's what I'd do. I'll use Google cloud's preemptible servers to spawn say 30 machines with the trigger being a pull request. If any of these macines dies during the build, it'll come back red. and otherwise, it will come back green and upload all of the binaries to google clou…

I don't really know if this is related to Armbian, but I have a USB disk that is not recognised when plugged into USB 3 (blue port) but it works in USB2.0 port. I have also tried SanDisk Ultra USB3.0 and it works. Shouldn't the USB3.1 also support USB3.0 if it supports USB2.0 ?

Hi, I've been building nanopineoplus2 stretch images with armbian build on commit c3f02be362aa216f2d3ee011916f9a18baf58291 (August 4, 2018) and it worked fine until earlier this week. When performing a build using this key (last commit, MASTER branch) I get an error. Is this a local error in my build environment, or are others observing similar behavior ? Pre-build without CLEAN_LEVEL="" passes without errors. The error occurs during a subsequent build with saving (using) already buils packages.

After successfully building an image, I decided to build one for another board. Got a warning something like [warn] low disk space [5GB] I deleted the output directory and still states only 6 GB. I had given virtualbox 30 gb for this drive. What is the proper way to clean out the drive after a compile? Just ignore it, does it over write? Sorry if I missed this in the docs somewhere but I didn't find anything about it.

Hi all, and first of all I want pay many thanks to authors and contributors for a great work on a Armbian itself and it's builder too. You rock, guys But a few days ago I ran into a problem with creating my own image. For these purposes, I use the custom-image.sh script. My goal is to preinstall the cups into my image. So, my modified script now looks like that: Spoiler ... How can I obtain the kernel sources for a specific image and build the modules the same as those installed? I am running into structure version differences when I build the mainline, then apply to my test system, and I don't want to run the test system on mainline, as I need the stability of the legacy kernel. I know there are certain options to build and ignore structure version differences as long as the structure is similar, but it would seem most pertinent to obtain the correct source for the kernel I am running, copy the .config to the build machine and then build the image. This then allows me to easily switch between different kernel modul…

Hello, It seems like the 'FORCE_MODULE_UNLOAD' parameter was (set to?) 'N' during the generation of the Armbian kernels. I know it's potentially dangerous to use it, but since the community is doing a lot of experimenting it would be convenient sometimes if this is enabled. Does this mean I have to compile a kernel with this option enabled myself, or is it possible to turn it on in future builds?

I want to override some configurations from $LINUXFAMILY.conf in SOMEBOARD.conf/wip/csc. One way is to provide $SRC/userpatches/sources/$LINUXFAMILY.conf, but I don't like this approach. I want to make these modification permanent. Maybe move the specific configuration from the family file to each board file, but with will not work with big families. Any ideas or comments? Thanks

Looking at this: https://github.com/armbian/build/commit/925b8592220a590b09215f08d3f06de6b8fe238d First, I would put most of the dependencies in "Recommends" and "Suggests" sections, otherwise people will be unable to remove non-essential packages they don't want. Second, I would put something like "nodm | lightdm" so you could switch the login manager without breaking things. And third, since we are discussing the desktop packages, personally I think that lightdm login dark theme looks relatively ugly (mostly you can't see element borders for user switcher dropdown menu, it's hard to read a dark font on a dark background, etc.) so mayb…

I've been working on a project to boot a custom kernel on my NanoPC-T4. Hello guys, There is an issue in build framework that makes impossible building my custom kernel for sun6i without changing your code. In the file sunxi_common.inc the variable LINUXFAMILY is forced to "sunxi" (unless it is sun8i) and my custom file userpatches/sources/sun6i.conf is not included. Of course I can hack sunxi_common.inc but much better if you make sort of correction for this issue. Thanks

Can you give me some starting points or links about how to deal with this issue? Thank you in advance... Wondering if we should have a release notes/changelog that gets tossed into the image somewhere? Something very simple that we maintain by just updating a text file with a significant commit. By default when I build armbian on master, it downloads the toolchains from the china mirror for me, but those always fail to verify the gcc-linaro-aarch64-none-elf-4.8-2013.11_linux.tar.xz with gpg BAD SIGNATURE. If I change to ARMBIAN_MIRROR="https://minio.k-space.ee/armbian/dl/" the issue disappears.

Hello, guys, I am having some strange boot messages for my bananapi m2 running 4.13.14. They all are more or less device-tree related. May I ask you to look at it and give some comments ? 1) there is always a lot of messages like below, but WiFi is working fine: [ 10.801417] brcmfmac: brcmf_p2p_create_p2pdev: timeout occurred [ 10.801434] brcmfmac: brcmf_cfg80211_add_iface: add iface p2p-dev-wlan0 type 10 failed: err=-5 ....... Hello, guys, I recently posted a problem with Banana Pi M2 framebuffer - my Waveshare35a TFT display was not working with "next" mainline image. I had messages in dmesg about an SPI data transfer issue. As a result there was no new framebuffer device created on the device. The question was then moved to Development group. Can you give a comment about SPI driver on BananaPI M2 ? Is SPI communication on BananaPi m2 really supported by mainline kernel ?

Now that u-boot UEFI is kind of a thing.... How will that shape armbian and the build process?

Hi Wondering if there are instructions on how to use the newer dwmac driver (instead of sun8i-emac.c) on the dev branch 4.10.x ? thanks jerry

As mentioned above, how can is specify the version of kernel and u-boot when i build the image(in https://github.com/armbian/build) from scratch? Thanks in advance!

Hi - does the kernel 4.16 for Stretch 9 for the Odroid C2 support the cryptographic APIs options: (1) CMAC (2) User-space interface for hash algorithms (3) User-space interface for symmetric key cipher algorithms Thank you. -- Cinaed

Hello, guys, I need your help with building an image with kernel 4.15 ("dev") for bananapi m1+ (can't use "next" because I need the new display engine). First of all, I need to transfer patches from 4.14 so that I can create my own overlays. Can you tell me which patches I need to look at , besides "add-overlay-compilation-support.patch" ? Thank you

I've been doing a little housekeeping with github issues and PR's to eliminate noise or bring closure. I've created a STALE label for issues that lack closure or don't have clear actionable items and closing. Hopefully that makes them easy to revisit later if one is interested. I've also posted some follow-ups on a few to try to get things moving and merged a few PRs while applying extreme discretion. Let me know if I do anything you disagree with or want me to back off. I'm trying to be mindful of everyone's work.

now I can answer this question: all lima code are removed by: https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/lib/compilation.sh#L588 thus lima patches can be applied. thus I create a github issue: https://github.com/armbian/build/issues/1474 @martinayotte @Igor and other maintainers, please help to handle this, because this is huge work.
