Hi, I am building small file server. Is it possible to boot from mmc AND have data on sd card without the need of removing sd card on every reboot? I've installed armbian on smaller sd card, used nand-mmc-* script to write armbian onto mmc. Now, everytime I reboot I need to remove sd card, wait for system to load and put sd card back. I edited .fex file, setting sd card mode to 1, but it didn't helped. Any ideas/manuals on that? Thank you in advance.

Hello, I am just trying to set up a pcduino3 nano with Debian Jessie. I downloaded 4.9.7 and put it onto SD card, booted, logged into my sudo account, and then apt-get install lightdm followed by apt-get update apt-get upgrade as per "Getting Started" guide. I now have 4.9.12 LIghtdm fails to start with following message: systemctl status lightdm.service -l ● lightdm.service - Light Display Manager Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/lightdm.service; enabled) Active: failed (Result: start-limit) since Tue 2017-03-07 21:41:18 CET; 17min ago Docs: man:lightdm(1) Process: 1460 ExecStart=/usr/s…

I am using the latest Armbian image on OPI+. I had a requirement to read a 64Gb USB flash formatted under Windows with the extFat filesystem. Much to my surprise it didn't mount. I thought it was a hardware problem 1st. But then it appeared, that mount doesn't support the the extFat filesystem by default. It is necessary to add the extra packages, but I didn't succeed: root@orangepiplus:/# apt-get install exfat-fuse exfat-utils Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following NEW packages will be installed: exfat-fuse exfat-utils 0 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 9 not…

Hi, I just saw ARMBian has been upgraded to 5.00 version. Then I though to check if my initial problem (for my first ARMBian test with the previous 4.5 version) could be solved with this new version : http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/616-lamobo-bpi-r1-network-issue-sudden-reboot-quick-usb-uart-how-to/?hl=miguipda What I encounter now with the 5.0 is a Lamobo R1 seems stable because no blinking green led. Just keep the red led switched on and wan with lan usable (I may contact website like you now ;-) ). Even with the connected harddrive. But... As my modem has the IP 192.168.1.1 and says that two IP are distributed with DHCP I saw the 192.168.1.4 …

Hello! I wrote the legacy image to a sd card and put it into the card slot. I can see something like diagnostic message and then "starting kernel". After that there is no video output. Neither over VGA nor over HDMI. Is that wanted? I tried 3 different monitors, but no chance. I can connect via ssh after a few minutes, but using a monitor and a screen would help, when there is no network. What am I doing wrong? Greetings, Pille

I have dd'd Armbian "stretch" onto a 16GB SD card and it's booting my CubieTruck fine. But I have no clue how to move it from there (mmcblk0p1) to my attached 128GB SSD (sda1). I've tried the nand_sata_install shell script but it appears to be a bit old (2 years), created a bunch of weird temp directories: root@cubietruck:~# df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on udev 939M 0 939M 0% /dev tmpfs 202M 4.0M 198M 2% /run /dev/mmcblk0p1 15G 1.1G 14G 8% / tmpfs 1006M 0 1006M 0% /dev/shm tmpfs 5.0M 4.0K 5.0M 1% /run/lock tmpfs 1006M 0 1006M 0% /sys/fs/cgroup tmpfs …

Hello, Is there a guide / tutorial on making Kodi run with hardware acceleration enabled on Armbian on Orange PI PC Plus? e.g. like how LibreELEC does it. I have found a bunch of information on different sites and forums, but I can't put it all together. What I know so far: * Apparently the HW-accelerated decoding is supposed to be done on Kodi's side via VDPAU API * The Kodi build in Armbian repos does not have built-in support for libvdpau (?) * ffmpeg, the video decoding library used by Kodi, doesn't support Allwinner GPU out of the box and needs patching * Kodi needs to be re-compiled with the patched ffmpeg vers…

Hello there. I'm owner of nano pi m1 board. I want use hid usb gadget on this board, but no success. First I use prebuild image from download section. I fugured out, that the image contains android_usb gadget and it's works (i didn't go deep, but i see, that after some manipulations with files my computer see nano pi as mass storage). Ok, this shows that nanopi board can be used as device. Go next. I need to load g_hid module, but there is no such module in the default image. Ok, time to compile custom kernel (with Igor's script this is easy). I included hid usb gadget via menu. Booting and "modprobe g_hid". Failed. "No such module" turns into "No such device". Hm...…

Hello there. I've got an Orange Pi PC+ SBC running desktop Armbian Xenial 5.38 kernel 3.4.113 from its eMMC that showed up pink screen after intermittent Power Up. I was using a 5V power adaptor that became faulty and intermittently became on and off. After replacing the power adaptor and booting up my device to a HDMI monitor, I found out that it now displays nothing but pink screen! Here's what I've done to no avail: 1. Turning on the HDMI monitor before and after I turn on the machine 2. SSHing from UART0 and suing command h3disp -m 5 (or 6 or 33 or 34...). No dice 3. Booting using the same Armbian OS but from SD card. SSH shows me the hostn…

I notice there is a 16mb spi flash on the bottom of my orange pi zero. I read it is possible to boot off it. Has anyone done it, and is it useful? Is it possible to run without the sd card? I am interested in locking the sdcard to read only for reliability during power loss, and storing application configuration data to the spi flash if possible. Can it be mounted with a filesystem, or is it better to use a ramdisk and store it periodically to flash?

Hi, I'm trying to run a DHT22 Temperature & Humidity sensor on my Cubieboard2 but I seem to fail at the beginning on how to use the GPIO Pins correctly What I have: Cubieboard2 Armbian Linux version 4.11.6-sunxi (root@devel) (gcc version 7.1.1 20170510 (Linaro GCC 7.1-2017.05) DHT22 (worked on a Raspberry Pi3 before) What I've done so far: According to this Overview (http://docs.cubieboard.org/cubieboard1_and_cubieboard2_gpio_pin) I connected the sensor on 3v3, GND and on PD25 (LCDDE). As far as I understood the LCD pins can be also used for other things. Followed "Accessing the GPIO pins through sysfs with mainline kern…

I wanted to make a try on a 64 gb card and burn the image on it, I think something went wrong, but now I cannot format or burn anything on the SD card, it says that the media is write protected. I tried to wipe out using parted or some tutos I saw creating an additional Registry key, but nothing worked ! Is my SD broken ? Thanks Greg

As per the title, I am using the 5.05 Jessie Server image on a OrangePi PC. Every time I shut it down (shutdown -h now) when I power it back up I get errors reading the SD card and it wont boot. I have tried 3 cards, all with the same issue, I can reboot the device with issue and a fsck is clean after every reboot. I do not have a linux machine to scan the card after a power off, so can't check it after it fails. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hello, I have started on Armbian Ubuntu on a Orange Pi PC and have some difficults to follow the tiny font on the terminal emulator. In order to change the fontsize, I used the command "dpkg-reconfigure console-setup" and choosed the Terminus font with a bigger size. But no effect after reboot. With which trick a modification can be performed? What is with the fonts marked with "framebuffer"? If a modification is not possible with the Armbian terminal emulator, can I use an alternative? So I miss a property button as available on Raspian. Thanks for yor help and best regards Walter

Greetings, I recently purchased an Orange Pi Zero for the purpose of Pi-Hole. I have been running Pi-Hole on a Raspberry Pi-1 under Jessie and the stability was great. I never had to worry about it. However, with Orange Pi Zero, running Armbian/Jessie as well, I get a maximum of 2 days of up-time. This is a standard armbian/jessie installation with only pi-hole installed. Since there is no video output (I did not purchase the extension board), I had to perform a power-off/on. Without ruling out the possibility of hardware fault (SD card or USB power supply), does anyone have stability problem of Armbian/Jessie on Orange Pi Zero? …

Hi I have added some drivers in the kernel source code in the cache folder and I am not sure how to rebuild the kernel with the new changes. I am trying to rebuild the mainline kernel. Using compile.sh overwrites the changes with default files. I have changed the following configurations in my config file. KERNEL_ONLY="no" # leave empty to select each time, set to "yes" or "no" to skip dialog prompt 3 KERNEL_CONFIGURE="no" # leave empty to select each time, set to "yes" or "no" to skip dialog prompt 4 CLEAN_LEVEL="" # comma-separated list of clean targets: "make" = make clean for selec 5 # "debs" = delete pac…

Hi, Over the last couple of weeks, I have been trying to get Pi-hole working (and more importantly, stable) on the Orange Pi (along with the relevant Orange Pi zero H2+ ARMbian OS) without success. I realize that I am using "Tested" but as yet not marked "Stable" code, however I'm hoping this can help somebody here perhaps in terms of developing a stable OS for these little boards. I have rebuilt the SD card from scratch several time now. The SD card is of reputable make (Sandisk) and in fact I have tried two different cards, just in case this was a card issue. I'm using a reliable power supply, which I have verified by continuously monitoring it with my …

I've been using pyA20 as H3 gpio library in Orangepi. Recently we've moved to nanoPi M1 . But the problem is H3 on nanoPi has more gpio pins than orangePi and A20 gpio library does not recognize these pins. Is there any H3 gpio library like pyA20 available ? (Please note WiringOPI is for C not python) Thanks.

I received NanoPi NEO and NEO Air boards along with the NanoHat PCM5102a that FriendlyArm is selling: http://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=169 It's a good quality audio stereo out addon board compatible with NEO and NEO Air. I got it working with Armbian on NEO Air! I adapted commits from FA's repo to match Armbian's tree and get that DAC working, (original commits here: https://github.com/friendlyarm/h3_lichee/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=pcm5102a+&type=Commits). Hello, I'm new to armbian, and I have a few questions. The image on the downloads page uses the legacy kernel (default branch), I used the desktop version of armbian 5.30. But is it possible to upgrade the kernel to the mainline version (4.11)? If so how? and are there any disadvantages? For example will hardware acceleration still be possible using mpv and so on? If it is better to stay on the legacy kernel, then I let everything as is.

Hi, Firstly, congratulations for your amazing work… it's impressive. I have a question regarding the SD image for A10 Lime (Linux 4.x)… Can I enable a raw serial device on /dev/ttyS1 which will use the uart0 of the FEX file? If I understand the FEX documentation, the FEX is no longer used on this kind of image, in favor of DTB files. So, how can I manage to modify the DTB file in order to customize my uart settings ? And, finally, how can I obtain a raw serial device on /dev/ttyS1 which will use it ? Regards, Anthony.

I have Orange Pi Plus 2 running Ubuntu Bionic with Armbian Linux 4.19.62-sunxi and I would like to upgrade it to recent Armbian build based on Ubuntu Linux Server and move OS to SSD connected to one of USB ports. I tried to use Armbian_22.08.2_Orangepiplus_jammy_current_5.15.69.img.xz but it does not connect to both HDMI and network. Is bionic only temporarily or finally offline? Whats the reason? Any idea when there is a chance to get a stable release. Possibly with 6 Months or surely not within 6 months. Hello. I have my cubietruck (cubieboard 3) configured to boot from sd card, and other files stored on hdd (sata). Few weeks ago (~15.06.2017) I updated armbian by "apt-get dist-upgrade". My use case: Stream mkv on local with subs or transcode if it can't show subs. Hey all, Sorry for the noob question, I posted this in another topic but it hasn't seen any action so I thought I would make a post. I have an Orange Pi PC, using the RetroOrangePi build which is based on Armbian. I'm having overscan issues on my 720p TV. I checked the options on the PC, there's no way to fix it there. They figured it out in this topic here (where I initially asked this question): The solution is to add code to u-boot in order to solve the overscan, or edit boot.cmd. My question is, will using u-boot be the best solution, or is it better to edit boot.cmd? Do I simply create a boot.cmd in something like note…

I've got a NanoPi Neo Core 2 and a NanoPi Neo Air. It bothered me that the USB OTG did not function in host mode. Turns out, the included Armbian .dtb's don't have the parts necessary to define the regulator which pushes power back to a client device when the board needs to run in OTG host mode. You can see the regulator on page 8 of the schematic http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/images/6/6b/NanoPi_NEO_Core2-V1.0_1707.pdf I found an upstream patch at https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/9921097/ which defined the missing parts for a Neo Plus 2. Since U-Boot v2025.04 works very well on Orange Pi Zero v3 and has a shorter boot process time, if there was a possibility to switch to U-Boot v2504 for Orange Pi Zero V1, I would be grateful, as would probably other users of this SBC Regards

I have two NanoPi R1s, both with Armbian Buster. I want to use both as wireless access points, however the wifi seems to be problematic. It always works at first, but not anymore after updating, changing the config and rebooting. My hostapd config is the following: # # armbian hostapd configuration example # # nl80211 mode # ssid=[myssid, contains some numbers] interface=wlan0 hw_mode=g channel=6 [11 on the other one] #bridge=br0 driver=nl80211 logger_syslog=0 logger_syslog_level=0 wmm_enabled=1 wpa=2 preamble=1 wpa_psk=[random thing armbian-config generated] wpa_passphrase=[secret] wpa_key_mgmt=WPA-PSK wpa_pairwise=CCMP rsn_pairwise=CCMP wpa_strict_rekey=1 wpa_dis…

Hello, I know there is documentation about it, but I think I've tried everything and my orange pi is still not displaying on my hdmi screen. The green LED is active, and the red one is blinking. I've written a Raspian image to the sd card, corresponding with the board. I have read about bin2fex but I can't have access to my sd card data on my Windows, to execute bin2fex. Thank you for your help !

Hi, Perhaps it is documented elsewhere but I could not find a direct solution after googling few minutes. My u-boot partition was stuck at the same version on the nightly. I needed to fix the reboot issue. I've tried few things like apt upgrade or direct dpkg -i... Anyway, this is what I did on a EMMC installation (/dev/mmcblk2) after I've built and download my own version of the package: dpkg -i ./linux-u-boot-dev-orangepi3_5.86_arm64.deb cd /usr/lib/linux-u-boot-dev-orangepi3_5.86_arm64 cat sunxi-spl.bin u-boot.itb > u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin dd if=u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin of=/dev/mmcblk2 bs=1024 seek=8 reboot I'm my case I had to u…

Hi all, Recently i have purchased an orange pi lite2 board(H6) for codec audio streaming.I would like to establish the interface between Orange pi Lite 2 (H6) and AC108(codec board) for audio recording.I have downloaded Android source code and start making changes in Fex file, but couldn't get any luck. I am confusing in which I2S driver need to be used for H6 to communicate with codec (AC108). I am totally new to orange pi boards. so, please clarify following doubts... 1).which i2s driver needs to be map with codec(AC108) driver? 2).what all changes are required in Fex file? 3).How to set sysclk, clkdiv, fmt ? Please clarif…

Thanks for the hard work on Armbian. I finally got the EmulationStation GUI to run under OpenGL ES @ ~88fps on OrangePI PC. The trick was mostly building SDL2 from source and not installing it with apt-get per the instructions. Really want to avoid anything "mesa". IIRC, I configured SDL2 with a similar command before making: ./configure --host=arm-linux-gnueabihf --disable-video-opengl Then building EmulationStation from source using: cmake -DGLSystem=OpenGL\ ES . make make install FWIW I did symlink some shared objects into /usr/lib/ (like libMali.so) Next is sorting out libretro stuff.
