I'm relatively new to embedded linux so apologies if there's a simple answer to this question or if I'm not providing the necessary information. And if there's a concept here that I clearly don't understand please point it out as I'm doing all of this as a learning exercize. I am attempting to use the ADXL345 accelerometer with my Orange Pi One. Using the i2c tools I'm able to communicate with the device but would like to use the linux drivers found here: https://wiki.analog.com/resources/tools-software/linux-drivers/input-misc/adxl345 I've tried using modprobe to insert the module but it seems it's not available and I'm unsure why as I be…

Hi! I'm new to Armbian and M2+ and I have this problem: The boot process is stopped, if there is an USB-device like keyboard or mouse adapter connected at power-up. After pressing reset button, boot is performed normally. Without USB devices no problem. Hello everyone, I am kinda of new to the orange, I think it's fantastic, I worked with rasp for while and I think the orange just slashes it. Pampering the orange aside, I am trying to hook up an old webcam to the Orange pi lite and I running into some issue, my lsusb info is this: Bus 003 Device 002: ID 1e4e:0100 Cubeternet WebCam When I start motion, everything works fine, although when I go on the browser a gray screen comes up saying: unable to open video device I have changed the configuration file of /etc/motion/motion.conf and /etc/default/motion as instructed here: http://www.orangepi.org/Docs/Webcams.html Plus I have changed the with my i…

Good day, We use NanoPi Neo Core in voice information systems. We found a problem with the implementation of Dynamic Audio Power Management for Portable Devices in H3. Our program plays voice files using the standard call of the operating system - "aplay". Before starting the reproduction of each file the voltage is discharged and restored at the output of the DAC. This leads to a loud click on the output of the audio system. Setting pmdown_time = -1 does not save the situation. Can you help in solving this problem? P.S. This problem appeared in version 4 of the kernel.

Hello, My name is GNUser and as the name implies, I use GNU system For privacy and security reasons (though also some philosophical ones) I decided to run only free software on my machines. For example my laptop has Trisquel installed which is a FSF approved distro. I also use Debian a lot, with the main repository only available (other repositories might contain or suggest non-free software). My question is this: the images of armbian available here, I understand they are built on top of debian, but which kernel are they using? The kernel that Debian usually provides (for x86/64) is a debblobed kernel, with no proprietary pieces. Is that the case with these ima…

Hello, I have a NanoPi Neo Plus 2 I used to run Ubuntu Core on it but i wanted to switch out as i had less storage space available 4.7gb out of 8 and other issues as it was also out of date. I installed Armbian first on SD then on eMMC but the problem i am facing is that only 479mb of ram is available. Now in the first post on this board by Stanislav Sinyagin on July 18, 2017 it was stated that only 512 mb of ram was available but later on i saw posts of people with the whole 1Gb of ram being used. Due to the limited ram i get compilation problems among other things i am using this board headless as a server. i flashed all versions for download multiple times along with t…

Hi, I tried to safe-upgrade (apt-get upgrade) Trusty today but got the following notice: Failed to fetch http://apt.armbian.com/dists/trusty/main/binary-armhf/Packages It would be OK to dist-upgrade to Xenial anyway as described in the Docs ... apt-get install update-manager-core do-release-upgrade -d # further to xenial apt-get dist-upgrade ... but I think it would be a good idea to start from a proper Trusty. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance Mark

Hi all, First post here. I have been running Armbian on my original Bananapi Pro for a long while now, and thought that it's time to upgrade from Bullseye to Bookworm finally. There were some complications with UsrMerge that I had to resolve manually (I think some boot files from the original Buster installation were both in /lib and /usr/lib), but apart from that the upgrade appears to have worked: All userspace stuff is on Bookworm. # lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Debian Description: Armbian 24.5.0-trunk.530 bookworm Release: 12 Codename: bookworm However, the kernel seems to be stuck on 5.15…

When I try to read the input on PA19 immediately goes to "1" even though there is no voltage being sent to the pin. Example: #!/usr/local/bin/python from pyA20.gpio import gpio from pyA20.gpio import port pin_to_circuit = port.PA19 gpio.init() gpio.setcfg(pin_to_circuit, gpio.OUTPUT) gpio.output(pin_to_circuit, 0) gpio.setcfg(pin_to_circuit, gpio.INPUT) print(gpio.input(pin_to_circuit)) I don't understand why this would put "1" with nothing even connected to the PA19 pin? Are there some settings I need to change to get PA19 working as a normal GPIO pin?

Hello! I have problems with Banana Pi and for today - updated all packages, and I can't connect via SSH nor FTP to my Pi. I have not changed anything, but there is automatic script which dist-upgrades the whole system, it is running once a day. Till 12.34pm CET everything was working fine - from logs, even I think till past 4pm I have connected via SSH to Pi, but then after kernel upgrade (seen note after logon) and reboot I can't access Pi in any way. I've tried to see logs: connect SD card to laptop with Linux to check if there is any problem, but didn't found nothing special. I've also tried to attach HDMI monitor but no signal. Seem…

Has anyone managed to get video encoder working with the latest mainline kernel? I'm getting stuck trying to compile the cedar_ve kernel driver from https://github.com/uboborov/sunxi-cedar-mainline I have downloaded the kernel source using armbian-config and then built the sunxi-cedar-mainline kernel driver. However, I fail to load the driver due to version magic: When trying to force the load: But no dmesg message about magic check failure.

I booted up my OPi0 + $2 expansion board this weekend after reading through the doc on it warning about TVout problems. Used the legacy Xenial 5.25 build available. I used the USB-serial method and logged in from my PC via SSH later over WiFi. On the TV there was no desktop GUI display, just the regular login prompts CLI. So this is not a RCA composite cable issue, but likely a display one...my TV is 720p. 1. On the TV I just got the login prompt after the text based Orange Pi Welcome screen. After logging in it stays text, as if I were in Terminal. I tried to install: $sudo apt-get xorg lightdm xfce4 tango-icon…

Hi all, I'm using an OrangePi 3 LTS with Armbian 23.11.1 bookworm current 6.1.63 xfce installed on a microsd card. Unlike some previous version I tried, now the wifi works correctly. As for the bluetooth, it works... every other time. That is, on one boot it will load, in the subsequent one it will fail, and so forth consistently. I'm not an expert, so if you need some output from some program, please tell me which. By now I can say that when it doesn't work, the bt icon in the systray doesn't appear, however if I try ps aux | grep blue* I find that obexd and blueman-applet are running. And if I launch blueman-manager I get an error dialog sa…

Hello, my BananaPi M1 sometimes just stops working. The maximum uptime is 5 days. Usually the time is shorter. The system simply hangs. I can no longer access the system via SSH. When I connect a monitor to HDMI, nothing is displayed, so I can log in. I have connected an external hard drive that is self-powered. I know the stories with the power supply. I have run ' stress -c 2 -m 1 '. The system remains stable. Hi, I was using my M2 Plus yesterday getting the 3rd USB to work, everything went well with that got it working, and if I remember correctly I also ran the Update & Upgrade through the armbian-config utility before shutting everything down, today when I got back from class with a custom PCB adapter for the 3rd USB, I connect it with the USB device, I connect the power to the board and wait for the VirtualHere server to start up and show up at my computer, when I noticed it wasn't showing up I did a ip scan and couldn't see the ip, connected a screen to the HDMI and got this on the boot up, it just cycles through the same screen. When I installed the image about …

I am considering the purchase of an Orange Pi 3 and I was wondering how well it is supported by the current Armbian image. According to https://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort it should work mostly fine. How well does Panfrost run on the board? Are there any gotchas that I should be aware of? Thanks.

Hi, I wanna try the armbian for banana pi M2 but when i flash the image in the microSd card with Rufus (i'm on windows 10) the pi does not boot correctly, i.e restarting every 10 seconds. Afterwards the card is not easy to reformat, not accessible on windows. In Rufus I do (i tried with 2 different cards): - choose the .raw file - then the combobox is set to DD image - finally i click on start So is there something I totally miss? Thx

i've an orange pi one and i'm running armbian stretch (mainline) on it after issuing shutdown -h now as root, the green status indicator light goes off. but i noted that the ethernet leds remain on i leave the board powered on after shutdown but since i've already issued shutdown, i assumed that the cpu has stopped while i go on to work on my pc. some minutes later, i accidentally touch parts of the board and it is extremely hot, every part of the board i'd say it is probably well higher than 100 deg C, possibly a fire hazard do be careful about this as i think the behavior after shutdown is different from ubuntu xenial. for ubuntu x…

Hi, I am having a strange problem with my Orangepi One, I previously had a python script which was run on login using .bashrc. The python script controlled VLC using the python bindings and hence I could not use crontab -e or rc.local as they are run in the backgound. Previously .bashrc worked without any issues however either I updated VLC or armbian and now it does not run after I login (even using an autologin). Strangely enough however if I login via SSH the script runs. To access it I use : sudo nano /home/user/.bashrc To run the script I append to the end of the file without making any adjustments: echo Runnin…

Hi Few days ago i've upgraded by armbian to the newest release version 5.17? from 5.11. The problem is, that minidlna DLNA server is only visible for few minutes after the service is started. Later i need a restart the service to make it visible for the new clients. The strange is that when i don't exit/shutdown the client, after the server discovered, it stays visible and works perfectly. But i want to make it visible for a newly started client, i need to restart the service. It doesn't seem to be client problem, as the same happens with my samsung smart tv, and a windows pc with foobar 2000 dlna plugin. What's the problem? (it maybe a broadcasting problem)

Hi, I am trying to use an Orange Pi Zero as a headless music player running MPD connected to a USB DAC. I have everything set up and it works well, but now I would like to add a momentary push button connected to a gpio pin to enable me to soft shutdown the Orange Pi Zero. I've done the same with python scripts that I've found in the Rune Audio forum (which runs on Arch Linux) for the Raspberry Pi, but I understand that the Pi Zero pins are different from the Raspberry Pi. This is the script I used on the Raspberry Pi #!/usr/bin/env python2 import RPi.GPIO as GPIO import time import subprocess GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BOARD) #Select unused GPIO header pin…

My Orange Pi PC running Armbian gets disconnected from both SSH and VNC after maybe 20 minutes or so out of nowhere, no matter if idle or doing anything. I can't connect back until I restart the entire SBC by keyboard. The pi is useless to me if I can't run it "headless". I'm wondering if it's a MAC problem. I have a pfSense router I built myself and have had different subnet addresses. I've made sure the MAC address isn't repeated on another subnet address, though. I know the Raspberry Pi has a way to change it, but does the OPi PC as well? The MAC "problem" is just a guess, though. I really don't know what's with the disconnection issues. I'm no …

I have a new OPIz running ARMBIAN 5.70 stable Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.113-sun8i with Pihole version 4.1 (latest). The Opi is connected only with eth0 with a static IP address. Its running a 32G sandisk Ultra (class 10) with a verified image using Etcher. The CPU is running at around 59c. It's unusable because the OPi keeps losing connectivity. Usually about every 12-24 hours but more frequently at times (sometimes two or three times an hour). So no ping, no ssh, no telnet. Ive implemented some scripts on the OPi to try and track down what's happening. But the first thing I notice is syslog gets cleared and/or has large gaps in it. …

Hi, I have two OrangePi Lite running side by side. After working fine for about 8 months both started to experience same issue with wireless: The board works randomly for few hours or few days and then looses wireless connection. When this happens reboot does not help as then issue occurs immediately after the boot. Unplugging and replugging power source resolves that for a while and then happens again I suspect it may not be related to a hardware issue or wireless hotspot, as I have at least 3 other clients that continue to work fine. Searching for it on the internet brought this issue with Raspberry Pi: https://github.com/raspbe…

Hi all, Recently i have purchased an orange pi lite2 board(H6) for codec audio streaming.I would like to establish the interface between Orange pi Lite 2 (H6) and AC108(codec board) for audio recording.I have downloaded Android source code and start making changes in Fex file, but couldn't get any luck. I am confusing in which I2S driver need to be used for H6 to communicate with codec (AC108). I am totally new to orange pi boards. so, please clarify following doubts... 1).which i2s driver needs to be map with codec(AC108) driver? 2).what all changes are required in Fex file? 3).How to set sysclk, clkdiv, fmt ? Hi All I am not able to run Armbian Buster from the Downloads page (https://www.armbian.com/cubietruck/) on the CT board. Other images run fine, including: - Armbian_5.65_Cubietruck_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.78 (from archive) - Armbian_5.65_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.14.78 (from archive) - openwrt-19.07.7-sunxi-cortexa7-sun7i-a20-cubietruck-squashfs-sdcard.img.gz (from OpenWrt downloads site) The problem is that it endlessly reboots after resetting the CPU. Hi, I have a project to do and this consists of: Arduino board which work as frequency counter and OrangePi PC which will be some kind of server (mysql, python). The idea is to use UART port to communicate (send / recevie) datas from arduino to OrangePi using C, Java or python.. Here is my schema using LLC (converter between arduino and orangePC) (hope this will work ) Is there some example in C, python or java on how to use GPIO UART pin 8/10 on orangepi as serial port? For now I have installed library from: https://github.com/zhaolei/WiringOP and second for python from: https://github.com/duxingkei33/orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3

Hi, I'm using 4.19.57-sunxi64 on a NanoPi NEO Plus2 and I'm wondering if there's a way to change some USB configurations just like I'd do with the cmdline.txt file on a RPi? I want to do some testing with USB over IP and for that I'd like to tweak the usb modules for better performance, liability. My armbianEnv.txt is as follows: Thanks in advance!

Hi! Upgrading to the mainline kernel removes /dev/snd/seq, which is needed for MIDI applications. Synthesizers are my main interest in using these boards, so that is a big loss. Since the module is enabled in the legacy kernel, perhaps this is unintentional and could be added to the mainline kernel? Thank you for all your work. Regards, brkl

I know it's not an officially supported board, but it's been working really well so far, so I'll give it a shot. Today I updated my kernel to 5.9.0-sunxi (coming from 5.9.0-rc7-sunxi) and after rebooting the (wired) network was dead. Everything looked fine, ethernet driver is loaded, interfaces were up and had IP addresses, but packets were not being sent. Pinging anything but the Banana Pi itself says "destination host unreachable". Routes were set and looked correct - even tho they should not even be necessary as I was pinging the gateway. tcpdump on eth0 showed nothing at all, almost as if the kernel doesn't know where to send the packets. Anyon…

Hello Armbian community. Recently, I decided do try new distros for the Cubieboard 2. and Armbian seemed to be a really good option. However, just booting the latest image started to cause problems. After writing the image with the proper software on a proper SD card as mentioned by this webpage, it just doesn't work at all. To be brief, I took pictures of what appears on the screen, first being what seems like to be an error displayed by text, then a really messed up screen, and finally the board shutting down by itself. I would appreciate any help or recommendations regarding this issue.

I am trying to connect a SNBC receipt printer to my Banana Pi - model number: BTP-r580(II) However, dmesg shows that whilst it is identified as a USB device, it is not identified as a printer (probably not helped by the fact that all of their receipt printers appear to have idVendor = 0x154f and idProduct = 0x154f Whilst their website (http://www.newbeiyang.com) has downloads for linux drivers, once connected there is no /dev/usb nor a dev/ttyUSB0 directory (in case it is recognised as a serial device). The linux drivers appear to be used for CUPs which is not installed, so I have not downloaded them. Someone else has the same problem on the Raspberry Pi wi…

Hello, I run Debian/Jessie on a bananapi pro. The board suddenly stopped working completely. When I plug the power supply, the red led shows up (not blinking) and nothing more, no sign of activity at all, like on screen (hdmi). I checked that the sd card runs well on my laptop, the filesystem was not broken and no sign of corruption so far, especially in the /boot directory, no changes made lastly in this directory : latest modification dater are a few months ago. …

Is there anything that can be done about it? Something will start(e.g. minisatip, mumudvb) to disproportionately use the cpu and after a short time it will crash completely. A similar configuration works well on an OPI PC(Linux orangepipc 4.10.1-sun8i #1 SMP Sun Mar 5 18:47:02 CET 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux), but with newer versions it behaves just as incorrectly. I've tested other images (ubuntu, debian), but it's the same everywhere.

I made tests with Orange Pi 2+ to install Armbian to eMMC. But I have no idea why it takes 30 minutes to install. I assume write speed of eMMC to be 5MB/s (ok maybe it is even faster) and Armbian on SD card is about 2.1GB, so it should take ~7 minutes to copy files, plus some more minutes to finish final touches, let's say 15 minutes together. But why it takes more than 30 minutes? Is there any possibility how to reduce this time? P.S. When I am burning armbian img to SD card, in 5 minutes I am ready to go and boot the system.

I created a Jessie image for BananaPi with the latest / next kernel, and when booting the image, it get's stuck on "A start job is running for LSB: Raise network interfaces". Last night I was digging through the logs, and i found an error msg that said that I was over clocking the board without without heat protection. Couple of Questions: 1 I don't have a heat sink on the CPU, do I need one? 2 I haven't done anything to the CPU speed, and running Wheezy and Jessie off of different SD's. Is overclocking turned on in the release? It is really cold here in the high Desert, right around freezing for 4 to 12 hours every night. Not as cold as northern EU, but cold. The room temp is probably 60-65 degrees F. I have the Micro in the Micro case from Olimex. Does the processor need a heat sink? thanks in advance Mike

Hi, Using the latest Armbian release (19.11.3) on OPi Zero (512MB, board revision 1.5) I have a strange issue. On kernel 5.3.x, Ethernet connectivity drops sporadically, around once every couple of minutes, for typically 10 seconds or so and then recovers. When the drop happens, a ping from another machine on the network produces 'no route to host' - then after around 10 seconds or so the network comes back up. The OPi Zero continues running normally during the 'outage', without functional network access. There is nothing in the dmesg log when this happens. Switching to kernel 4.19.62 from armbian-config, everything works perfectly. Back to 5.3.x, the iss…

Hello Community! Does anybody tried to run the .Net Core or ASP NET Core runtime package on OrangePi PC2? I was trying to install it using MS guidelines [https://www.microsoft.com/net/download/linux-package-manager/ubuntu16-04/runtime-current] but no luck. I was searching Goolge for a while, and tried bunch of common solutions related to Linux and .Net Core installation - with no luck unfortunately. Hello, I tried to introduce 4.4 Kernel 4.2.2 on Cubietruck, it was confirmed that it freezes at boot time. Login prompt does not appear. We have confirmed the problem in Debian Jessie. Best regards.

From the schematics, this seems to be connected to "AVCC" (the H3's PLL and the TV out). U11 isn't outputting anything, but chip select is off. Since this is the USB host, I'm not too surprised. Is it worth trying to reflow a new regulator on ? Wondering...

Hello everyone, brand new user of BananaPi and armbian, just today and I've spent quite a few hours trying to make the basic setup for WiFi work with no success. Initially I used the server version I downloaded from the main armbian page and then the "nmtui-connect" command. What happens is that it keeps asking me for the password (definitelly correct) and never accepts it. Looking at the NetworkManager logs while this is happening shows me this J Spoiler an 17 22:25:28 bananapim2plus NetworkManager[581]: <info> [1516227928.9166] Config: added 'ssid' value 'The Portal of Infinite Realities' Jan 17 22:25:28 bananapim2pl…
