Just started with Orangepi and ARMbian ... ARMbian is a very nice OS. Especially since there's a RAW image for Orange pi! Thanks! I've got two DS18B20 working perfectly with my Orange pi pc! But now I've troubles with the BMP085 /BMP180. With my old Raspberry pi it was pretty easy, but how can I get the BMP180 running? I 've read there are modules for ARMbian, but I've read as well I've got to compile my own module. Does anybody know where can I find the files /module to load or compile?

Now I want to enable the Micro-USB port (usually used for powering) to act as an USB host so that I can plugin an USB-stick. I found very few instructions for e.g. Orange Pi. It has been working fine with the Jessie Desktop for several weeks now. I see a number of messages on the console at boot, including 'Stopped User Manager for user ID 1000' and then removing 'slice' for this user. The system is operating fine, just not the UI. So, how do I get autologin and desktop back (other than a new install)? What might have caused …

A USB power supply that does supply sufficient power and current. I write the image to the MicroSD card, insert it into the Banana Pro's card holder, power it up, the red LED lights up and ................. that's where it stops. No heartbeat on the green LED. The one thing I notice is that the image I download has only got one partition on it and that's the ext4 partition. It does not have the small FAT formatted partition and I think this is where it all goes wrong. …

Good day, We use NanoPi Neo Core in voice information systems. We found a problem with the implementation of Dynamic Audio Power Management for Portable Devices in H3. Our program plays voice files using the standard call of the operating system - "aplay". Before starting the reproduction of each file the voltage is discharged and restored at the output of the DAC. This leads to a loud click on the output of the audio system. Setting pmdown_time = -1 does not save the situation. Can you help in solving this problem? P.S. This problem appeared in version 4 of the kernel.

Some brief guidance from those who have gone before would save a lot of time and would be greatly appreciated. Looking at the datasheets wasn't real helpful in guesstimating optimum performance configuration - especially since there are so many other factors that have an impact. Background: My objective is to achieve a reliable, long lif…

I have a NanoPi Neo Air (Allwinner H3 SoC) with onboard wifi and a serial interface. Unfortunately during some late hour hacking I managed to accidentally connect 5V onto its TX pin, I think effectively screwing up its UART0. I can no longer connect to it via a USB to TTL Serial cable. Looking at the NeoPi Nano Air's pinout diagram, it seems to have more UART devices (UART1 and UART2 even) so I wonder whether there's a way to set up armbian to communicate via these during boot? Another idea I had was to try to bypass the UART completely and to hook up the board via the wifi. Now, without having any access to a serial console, I need to …

Hey there So I was planning on using the OPZero on a robot that I had already made, which took use of SPIdev, and it was doing calls to the spidev driver in C. Now I noticed that the OPZero has 2 SPI channels, one for the NOR flash (Which isnt populated) on the back and another that goes to the GPIO headers on the device. Now I ran my script, and turns out that /dev/spidev0.0 is actually writing SPI commands to the rear SPI channel. This is apparenly SPI0 according to the schematics. Now following the schematics again, I want to access SPI1, which currently does not exist as a spidev file. I tried "modprobe spidev" to bring up the extra interface, but sadl…

  51. Hi everyone, I'm facing a problem with logrotate on my OrangePi Zero with Armbian Focal mainline. Basically I have a process that is always running with a `tee` command that outputs the stdout to a log file in the /var/log/ directory. My logrotate configuration file looks like the following: /var/log/smartbit/gocpp.log { rotate 10 daily compress missingok notifempty copytruncate dateext } It's all working correctly except the copytruncate part: logs are daily rotated and gzipped but the gocpp.log is not truncated to 0 bytes, so it gets bigger and bigger. However I am not experiencing the same problem when I am connecting through ethernet. I can't understand if that's a case of bad connection as I have the same behaviour even if I put my pi next to my router. I know that the on-board wifi module is not the best but it seems that its unusable. Anyone has any relative problem? Is there any solution or its just hardware based and I need an external wifi dongle?

After working fine for about 8 months both started to experience same issue with wireless: The board works randomly for few hours or few days and then looses wireless connection. When this happens reboot does not help as then issue occurs immediately after the boot. Unplugging and replugging power source resolves that for a while and then happens again I suspect it may not be related to a hardware issue or wireless hotspot, as I have at least 3 other clients that continue to work fine. Searching for it on the internet brought this issue with Raspberry Pi: https://github.com/raspbe…

Do I simply get all the sources for the libraries I want/need, and adjust their configure parameters to point to dedicated directory, and then build my target? Is there an easy way to manage the versions / dependencies to match Jessie (the version on my target OPi)? I am trying to compile Duktape with libreadline, if that matters. Thanks, Steve

  81. Hello. I have a small problem: I can't change the language on my OPi Zero. I have successfully done that with OPi Lite 2 and OPi 3, but for some reason on the Zero when I go to change it, the module fails to load and just quits back to the same "menu page". (essentially does nothing). The only thing I can think of, is that both of the other boards have 1Gb RAM and this only has 512Mb and thus it runs out of memory? That doesn't sound too plausible though - a list of keyboard languages shouldn't take tens or hundreds of megs of RAM. As far as I know, each board is running the same version of Armbian, so that shouldn't be a problem.

  91. Hi, during the spring I used h3disp - 720p50 -c 1 (on 5.24 with sunxi-tools 1.4.2) to change the resolution for my desktop but today when I did a clean install (armbian 5.30 Jessie Default) I get Unsupported board/kernel combination: Orange Pi Zero running 3.4.113-sun8i. Exiting Is there still a way to change the resolution (720x576 is too low for the gui app I need to run)? Thanks in advance! Nicke

  92. Greetings, I'm not good with linux so excuse any stupidity i might say. I have been using Xenial for years now and just decided to update. In the past i was using the sunxi module to access gpio's For ex: echo 1 > /sys/class/gpio_sw/PA7/data Now in Bionic i just noticed gpio's are not accessed in the same way. According to this user, we can either use sysFS (which seems deprecated) or libgpiod. The problem is that i can't make it work. libgpiod: root@orangepi:~# gpioset gpiochip0 29=1 gpioset: error setting the GPIO line values: Unknown error 517 sysFS: root@orangepi:~# echo "29" >/sys/class/gpio/export -bash: echo…

What module should I load to get SPI working on 4.x kernel image? My usual suspect spi_bcm2708 is not available. I once used it on Banana Pi M2 from other manufacturer (SinoVOIP?) with Raspbian, now on Banana Pro I'm stuck with not working SPI.

  94. hi every body! in last two days, i have been trying to make my orange pi zero board to hotspot device. i follow instruction at armbian documentation and it's work fine. but i want more than a simple bridge network. in order to use nginx to show my website to connected devices, i need to set ip to connected devices. i used both of isc-dhcp-server and dnsmesq, but it failed every time a device want to connect to board. dnsmasq config: interface=lo,wlan0 no-dhcp-interface=lo dhcp-range=192.168.8.20,192.168.8.254,255.255.255.0,12h interface config auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface eth0 inet dhcp auto wlan0 iface wlan0 inet static hostapd /etc…

Hi All, I'm using Armbian_5.10_Micro_Debian_jessie_3.4.112 on a custom A20 board with NAND based off the Olimex A20 Micro. I don't see /dev/nand on it. $ zgrep NAND /proc/config.gz CONFIG_SUNXI_NAND_PARTITION=y CONFIG_SUNXI_NAND=y # CONFIG_SUNXI_NAND_COMPAT_DEV is not set # CONFIG_SUNXI_NAND_TEST is not set I even tried to Livesuite an Android NAND image, but it also failed. I'm pasting the logs below. What does it generally mean to have a missing /dev/nand? Thanks. $ sudo ./LiveSuit.sh Starting x86-64/LiveSuit. library file path: /home/asrolabe/Downloads/sunxi-livesuite/x86-64/plgvector.dll library file path: /home/asrolabe/Downloads/sunxi-livesuite…

  96. Hello, I'm new to this forum and Armbian. I've got an Orange Pi Zero 2+ H5 running the Armbian_5.34.171121_Orangepizeroplus2-h5_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.14 image. It's connected to a device via UART1 using pin 1 for 3.3V, 6 for GND, and 8/10 for TX/RX. I've been trying unsuccessfully to use pyserial in a Python script to read data from the ttyS* devices, but I can't seem to cat anything from them either. I've tried moving the device to a RaspberryPi Zero W and I'm able to read the output from ttyS0 successfully. I did have to run raspi-config to enable the UART on the RPi, but I'm not aware of an equivalent on the OPi. I believe I added the uart1 overlay to my…

The old 0.14.0 version doesn't work well with subtitles, ending up with subtitles drawing on top of each others, when the text is moving fast. Is there any build I could download and install? Or some other workaround? Edit: Kodi draws the subtitles correctly, but it has pretty awful screen tearing. Using black bloxes instead of just some outline on the subtitles does work, but it's not an acceptable fix to me. So, it would be great it was possible to use whatever kodi uses to draw the subtitles, but then use mpv to draw the video.

Hi Igor, could you please look into the character set problem mentioned in the comments? Jessie kernel 3.4: Line-drawing graphics for programs like aptitude or mc don't work. The screen displays garbled characters instead, which renders all programms with a graphic interface unusable :-(. After install I noticed that dpkg-reconfigure locales did not work as expected. LANGUAGE stays en_US and LC_MESSAGES stays posix. I configured them manually # update-locale LANGUAGE=de_DE.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES=de_DE.UTF-8 but german umlauts (äöü) still don*t work although the system now seems to be configured correctly for de_DE.UTF-8. I don't care too much about the u…
