Hi, I am trying to use the SPI interface on the board GPIOs of a BananaPi M1+. I have started the latest version of Armbian available for this board (Armbian_19.11.6_Bananapi_bionic_current_5.4.8) and after the initial configuration the "/boot/armbianEnv.txt" file has the following added lines: fdtfile=sun7i-a20-bananapi-m1-plus.dtb overlays=spi-add-cs1 spi-spidev param_spidev_spi_bus=0 I have rebooted but I am unable to use the spidevX.Y under the "/dev" folder. What am I missing? NOTE: I have tried several combinations of values on the armbianEnv.txt configuration file (ie: using only overlays flags without the other ones, using only the spi-spidev flag,…

Hello Armbian team, I must start by thanking you for the effort you put into Armbian and making it possible for us to get the best of our boards. Your work is appreciated! The problem that I have been facing is that my OPI lite 2 functions correctly when it boots, but after a while I see a couple of sunxi-mmc errors in the logs and the filesystem becomes inaccessible and the board unusable. The log entries look like this: [ 750.827959] sunxi-mmc 4020000.mmc: data error, sending stop command [ 751.824422] sunxi-mmc 4020000.mmc: send stop command failed I cannot pinpoint the source of the problem as multiple issues seem to play a role in the…

Hi, I'm here again, the quarantine is almost over (sadly 'cause here in italy we are a bunch of a****le) and I finally get rid of my kodi 17 on retrorangepi 4.2 (old) that give me a lot of problems (with wifi connection lost, scraper that didn't update, and freeze, not for sure a problem with retrorangepi itself). so... I have something in my mind now that I'm back to home with my new FTTH internet connection. I want to setup an armbian image with or withot desktop for octoprint Armbian with 5.4 kernel (xfce debian) is really slow and temperature (with heatsink) don't go under 60°C on idle, with retrorangepi based on Debian Jessie, temps go…

Hello, I'm trying to encode Video from the Orangepi gc2035 Camera to raw h264 with newest Armbian Xenial Kernel 3.4. I use a Orangepi One. For that I'm using the following gst Plugin: https://github.com/gtalusan/gst-plugin-cedar If I run the following gstreamer pipeline to get a raw h264 file it perfectly creates the file. But I can just play this file with ffplay. But not with vlc or broadway.js. Any idea how to get it playable in vlc and broadway.js? I've already tried to change to 66 to get baseline profile on following line and recompiled https://github.com/gtalusan/gst-plugin-cedar/blob/master/src/gstcedarh264enc.c#L296 But with no luck t…

Hi all, Firstly, I want to say that I'm new to Armbian and embedded Linux. I have tried searching the solution for my problem on various sites but I haven't had any luck. I am using a Nano Pi Duo 2 (H3) board with Armbian Buster to communicate with another device through UART1 (TX1, RX1). I am able to communicate at 115200 bps with no problem. However, I need the baud rate to be at least 230400 bps (ideally 921600) for my application. I'm using WiringNP library. When I changed to those baud rates and performed a simple feedback test (shorting TX/RX), I can receive the data. But when I connect it to another device, the communication does not funct…

I had a rather crazy idea (in my opinion) of trying to hook up a bluray drive to an Orange Pi Zero Plus that i have a spare of, then possibly set that up as an iscsi target with LiO to create a network attached BD drive. However, I'm already stuck even getting the BD drive to work with the OPi in the first place. I have the optical drive hooked to an externally powered USB 2.0 to ATA bridge (has a SATA port on it as well, this hardware config was tested in windows and worked great) and that's plugged into the single USB port on the board. The problem i seem to be having (not entirely sure I'm correct, very new at this) is that sr_mod is not enabled or present. T…

Hello, Wish a good health everyone nowadays! I'm using Orange Pi PC Plus with small aluminium heatsink running Armbian Buster (mainline kernel 5.4.y). SD Card is Samsung EVO Plus 32gb. The CPU governor was set to 480 to 1200, conservative. The system are fresh, just after install. After ~5 minutes of idle uptime temperature comes to 85 and up. Is that heatsink are not good enough? And the second issue I've faced - too quiet sound output from AV-out. The most quiet is Chromium, it is nasty quiet. Sound from local video files in mpv player are bit(2 times) louder both from mp4 and webm, also mp3. Have not tested HDMI(because my…

I've got a Sony RX100VA camera that I want to connect to the NanoPi Neo2 running Armbian Buster. On the Camera I can select the type of USB connection: -Auto -Mass Storage -MTP -PC Remote My intention is to use the PC Remote connection for use with gphoto2, this works fine on a PC with Ubuntu 18.04, but when I connect the camera to the Nano Pi Neo2 with Armbian, the camera display shows connecting (but doesn't connect). I suspect a bug in the OS, but I am unsure how to find it. lsusb gives the following report with an error: can't get debug descriptor: Resource temporarily unavailable root@nanopineo2:~# lsusb -d 054c:0cb2 -v…

Hi all, I've been struggling with the issue in the topic for a few days now. Actually the ideal solution would be a read-only root file system (with a writable overlayfs on top), so that I can just turn the power off, without risking any SD-card/filesystem corruption. There seems to be an easy solution for that according to this page: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Advanced-Features/ section "How to freeze your filesystem?". But the package "overlayroot" that is mentioned there does not seem to be available for Debian (Armbian Stretch). A quick attempt to adopt the overlayfs-startup scripts to Debian failed, because Debian is using systemd and the…

Armbianmonitor: http://ix.io/2g5I I recently started playing around with OrangePi Zero with the Allwinner H2+ CPU. I want to test out the internal audio DAC. To do so I enabled "analog-coded" in armbian-config. After rebooting I saw a new audio device in the output of "pacmd list-cards", but it says that only mono is available. How can I configure stereo sound? I haven't played around with "/etc/asound.conf" much as I don't understand it. Also, I don't have anything plugged into the audio pins on the GPIO.

1-Wire works, I put the explanation at the end of this post. Hello There, yesterday I burned a fresh image of Armbian_20.02.5_Bananapi_buster_current_5.4.26 to replace my current setup (Armbian_5.91_Bananapi_Debian_buster_next_4.19.59) and I run into some trouble with 1-Wire. I tried everything I knew and found on the web but 1-Wire still won't work. So I need some help. My hardware setup was not changed and it worked for at least two years. So would rule out a wiring problem at the moment. My SoC is a Banana PI M1 ( http://www.banana-pi.org/m1.html ) The strange thing is, that 1-Wire wont come up by itself, I have to run mo…

Hello, I have problem with "Orange Pi Zero Plus" and functionality of Relay module (electrical circuit= normally closed). Relay module is attached on pin/port number "0". Hi! New to the forums, this is my first post. I've been trying out some of the pre-built Armbian images on my Orange Pi Zero to get a taste for the OS and it's perfect for my purposes, however I've noticed something odd about the current mainline images that's possibly a small oversight. I browsed the forums before posting and noticed that TV Out functionality has been disabled by default on H3-based boards due to an interference with HDMI output on mainline, which is naturally understandable. There's only one small problem - the same patch has been applied to H2+ boards which lack an HDMI Out altogether. I've explored the image currently provided (the latest …

I run Armbian 20.02.1 stable on a zeropi which is used as a wireguard server and spotify direct client (USB to external DAC). Things run very well. Many thanks to everyone involved in keeping Armbian such a great distro! I noticed that when I turn on the ondemand governor the system becomes very unresponsive and music playback is stuttering. When I use the performance governor (even with min and max frequency both set to 480MHz) things run just fine. Most of the time 480MHz will be sufficient, but it would be nice to be able to take advantage of the ondemand governor. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello community, I'm looking to build an internet cube (https://internetcu.be/). Basically, the project uses an A20-OLinuXino-LIME2 but I'm looking to see if a better armbian could do the job. Prerequisites are quite similar to a NAS : quality, stability, performance, minus 80$, Gibabit LAN, SATA, USB. So I have 4 models in mind: - Banana pro - Banana pi - A20-OLinuXino-LIME2 - Espressobin Which one is best suited and/or do you have other models in mind?

Hi, Armbian gurus, I'm trying to make the build system to build image with LibreELEC kernel tree for PineH64 I heard the kernel is patched for being better at hardware decoding Here are what I have done in order: 1. Retrieve patched kernel tree from LibreELEC build system. Upload the patched kernel tree to my gitlab account. 2. Modify config/sources/families/include/sunxi64_common.inc to make KERNEL_SOURCE = my previous repo; KERNELBRACH = master. To make it fetchable during bilding. 3. Modify lib/compilation-prepare.sh: skip aufs patch. 4. Modify lib/compilation.sh: skip advanced_patch in compile_kernel() After all th…

Welcome to Armbian Bionic with Linux 5.4.20-sunxi This is the thing I have installed... I'm trying to use the serial ports out of the GPIO header, nominally pins 8 and 10 which depending on what you read maybe ttyS1 or ttyS3. Out of the box whatever they are they're not available. After much googling, I've seen stuff about FEX and DTS none of which mean much to me, I'm guessing Bionic doesn't use FEX as there's no sign of .FEX or .BIN files in the /boot directory. The default state seems to pump garbage out the tx line whatever its doing. Minicom promises to talk to any ttyS? I give it, but theres no answer on loopback, And that's all I have. …

Hello, I have an an orange Pi plus 2+. I had installed armbian ubuntu 18.04.2 on it. I used it only on wired network, and I experienced that the downloading speed is perfect, but the uploading speed is very slow. So at the network synchronous, the upload is same fast as download. On the same wiring and with another device I have not noticed this phenomenon before. Do you know what can be the reason of this? Speedtest:

Hi, I've recently got a ZeroPi from FriendlyElec and I immediately installed Armbian Buster, so far is working great except for a minor issue with the Gigabit ethernet. I'm planning to use it with Wireguard as server so I've made some performance checks first to test the actual network speed with iperf3. What I discovered surprised me, the network throughput in upload from the ZeroPi is fine (900 to 950 Mbps) but the download seems to be limited to ~380 Mbps. ------------------------------------------------------- # UPLOAD TEST (ZEROPI ---> HOST) # $ iperf3 -c XX.XX.XX.XX ------------------------------------------------------- [ ID] Interval …

I remember that the maximum frequency was 1296Mhz back with Xenial, with kernel 3.x. It even says here Heat is not a problem since i have a large heatsink and temperature controlled fan, i was just curious about why the max frequency was bumped to 1368Mhz on the newer builds. What's the rationale behind it?

Dear friends. I am trying to initialize my opi lite 2 without success. I'm using a power source, that's ok! I measured the voltage on the RX pin and I have 3.2v. The TX pin at very low voltage. I used a TTL / USB converter to check the debug ttl, but nothing appears. I configured the converter to 3.3v. Can anyone give me any tips on what to do or can I throw the board away already?

Hi team, I am trying to get a voltage drop (3.3V to about 0V) detected on a GPIO pin on my OrangePi Zero running Armbian buster 20.02.1 with Linux 5.4.31-sunxi. I have another OrangePi Zero on which I have already managed to install I2C OLED screen, and the i2cdetect was working, and so on... For this one, I got a problem with the gpio group not existing. As I tried to install OPi.GPIO, I got usermod: group 'gpio' does not exist It's an Armbian version that I downloaded yesterday, and upgraded today with armbian-config. So... What did I do the wrong way? Thanks.

Hi, I have two OrangePi Lite running side by side. After working fine for about 8 months both started to experience same issue with wireless: The board works randomly for few hours or few days and then looses wireless connection. When this happens reboot does not help as then issue occurs immediately after the boot. Unplugging and replugging power source resolves that for a while and then happens again I suspect it may not be related to a hardware issue or wireless hotspot, as I have at least 3 other clients that continue to work fine. Searching for it on the internet brought this issue with Raspberry Pi: https://github.com/raspbe…

Hello, I am working with a Nanopi Neo Air incorporating the System on Chip Allwinner H3. The Armbian documentation wasn't much help because it didn't provide any instructions for this sort of hardware. If any of you could give me some pointers that would be very much appreciated.

Hello, I wanted to upgrade my Bananapi M1. So I downloaded "Buster minimal" from https://www.armbian.com/bananapi/ Last modified: 2020-02-17. I flashed the image to my SD card and started the SBC. But nothing happened. I got no heartbeat LED nor HDMI output. (I know from my Tinkerboard that I have to boot without connected HDMI to start correct. I did this with the bananapi too.) So I tried different variants: Bionic server, Buster server and Buster desktop. I never had a video output. I cross checked with my old raspian lite from 2016. With this image the Bananapi works. I used dd and Etcher for SD card preparation. What am I doing wrong? Can I us…

Re: the built-in 16GB emmc on a 14" pinebook (early model). Applies to Armbian_20.02.1_Pinebook-a64_bionic_current_5.4.20.img and also to trunk build with dev kernel. Prevents installation to emmc from SD, which worked from trunk@3b1418fb5b58f187c658a050c592f2c50fb2db04 in January. I haven't managed to find from which commit it started failing yet. Hello, I have two Banana Pi Pro boards with current Armbian 20.02.1_Bananapipro_buster_current_5.4.20_minimal, kernel 5.4.20-sunxi and both have small SSD connected (WD 120GB and Goodram 120GB). fdisk -l doesn't show any drive's except sdcard (and ram drives). Is there any way I can get it working?

I recently purchased a number of Orange Pi and Nano Pi boards, and discovered the awesome work of the Armbian team :-) The Orange Pi Plus2 H5 is a rather nice board - built in eMMC, H5, etc. (I wish it had 1GB of RAM but that's a different subject.) I'd love to use these boards for a number of projects. As a test, I modified the DTS for the board (mainline kernel) to enable support for the 1.1v/1.3v switch for VDD-CPUX using the SY8113B on the board. I also enabled the allowed clock changes to 1.2GHz for cpufreq. All of this worked great, but the board was very unstable at anything over 1GHz, which seemed strange, given that the CPU voltage should be swit…

i did some experiments today, i tested 2 Orange pi with the same image debian buster in the lastest version. i put a script on both that reported the execution time of a function and the date, one is running smoothy, the other crashes the orange, the bottom is the log what caught exactly at the time it caught, could someone help me understand it? Hi all, I've a bananapi 1 and would like to follow this guide to attach to my board directly a Zigbee device CC2530+CC2591: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/information/connecting_cc2530.html#wiring-cc2530-to-the-raspberry Then, I've connected it using exactly the same schema, which should be the same on BananaPi, based on http://wiki.lemaker.org/File:Banana_Pro_CON6_Definetion.png VCC -> 3,3V (Pin1) GND -> GND (Pin6) P02 -> TXD (Pin8) P03 -> RXD (Pin10) Then, I've tried to connect to serial via minicom: minicom -b 115200 -o -D /dev/ttyS2 BTW I'm not getting any info from the device, so what I'm doing wrong? I've the…

Hi, can anyone let me know if we can enable a UART port from a DTB file? Means like compile DTB to DTS, make changes and then again recompile it to a DTB like we do in the script.bin file of legacy kernel. Earlier I have used to mention "overlays=uart1 uart2" in the armbianEnv.txt file but, this didn't work for me .

I was updating some images and thought the Orange Pi + had been retired ... but there was no Support Ended note. I see a lot of other Plus versions of Orange pi boards listed, but not the plain Orange Pi +. Seems easy to miss ;] A little searching found the Orange Pi + is supported https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus/ Am I just missing the link in Downloads? The only way I've been able to get to the page is by direct url or a duckduckgo search https://duckduckgo.com/?q="orange+pi+plus"+armbian&t=raspberrypi&ia=web

Orange Pi Zero Plus2 H5 I currently am booting from the onboard 8GB EMMC. As I am still experimenting with this board, sometimes I would like to wipe and start from a backup remotely, keeping a copy of my backup on an SD card that's in the machine used for extra storage space. I use timeshift on my Mint laptop that restores a snapshot of / from an SDcard, but it is a graphical utility. Is there a similar CLI utility for Armbian? Or one that can be installed? Thanks.

Hi all, I want to set my Pi with specified hostname. I checked successful when cat /etc/hostname. Howerver, when I am using a Advanced IP Scanner to scan all the network, it just show the IP without the hostname while others raspberry boards have displayed as my attached image below. Thanks!

There's this: Anybody knows about the status of PWM on the H5 (OPi PC 2 in my case) with mainline kernel? BTW am I off-topic asking about H5 in this forum? Thanks.

Hi folks, I'd like to build a simple rs485 interface onto an A20-OLinuxino-Micro board. Therefore I was looking into utilizing one of the UARTs (6 or 7) on EXT1 or EXT2, add an external driver chip to it and 'fork' the according kernel module to implement support for switching send/receive with the RTS line. While that seemed to be an easy approach, I already got stuck with the basics. :-( dmesg shows me [ 2.822776] printk: console [ttyS0] disabled [ 2.842962] 1c28000.serial: ttyS0 at MMIO 0x1c28000 (irq = 53, base_baud = 1500000) is a U6_16550A [ 2.843045] printk: console [ttyS0] enabled [ 2.866650] 1c29800.serial: t…

Hi all. I have problem with SPI on my board . I find solution but I want to know why .. On first : Linux orangepizero 5.4.20-sunxi #20.02.1 SMP Mon Feb 17 02:09:41 CET 2020 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux If go to armbian-config and enable SpiDev .. then reboot not find SPI device on my dev tree .. if look to armbianEnv.txt there is spi-spidev but on dev tree no SPI device .. My solution is this : on /boot/dtb/overlay is file sun8i-h3-spi-spidev.dtbo , decompile it and there is this text : /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun8i-h3"; fragment@0 { target-path = "/aliases"; __overlay__ { spi0 = "/soc/spi@01c6…
