Hi. I have an issue configuring the board: no hugepage configured. I installed the command line Ubuntu. No I am in command line via SSH. Everything is ok. With a NanoPi Fire3, OrangePi Pc2 and an OrangePi Zero H5 I had not this issue. The folder /sys/kernel/mm/hugepages does not exist; the folder /proc/sys/vm has not the value or file that tells how mutch is the hugepages amount.

Hi I only have an old monitor, and I thus need to use a HDMI-to-VGA-converter to work with my Orange Pi PC Plus. When powering the Orange Pi on, the green LED on the board is constantly ligthened. On the monitor, I get a black screen, after 4 s (or so) a totally red screen. No text. No graphics. Then after about 15 s, on the board the red LED starts to double blink. The red screen remains for ever. I have tested the Raspbian and Debian images available on http://www.orangepi.org/downloadresources/. They work fine with the converter. Alas, the preferred OS, "Orange OS" armbian, seems not to work. Board: Orange Pi …

I have encoutered some difficulties on carrier detection with network-manager on ethernet port, on lime2, on default kernel, 5.38. On mii-tools and ethtools, carrier is correctly reported. The result, network-manager try to activate connection at boot even cable is not plugged. It's report drivers (sunxi_gmac) does not support carrier detection, as i found in syslog When unplugged, the connection is still active. I've tried to install GitLab onto Banana PI running Armbian (Ubuntu 16.04 server). I've followed the instructions for Raspberry PI (on https://docs.gitlab.com/omnibus/manual_install.html) and generic https://about.gitlab.com/installation/#ubuntu Unfortunately this fails: $curl -s https://packages.gitlab.com/install/repositories/gitlab/raspberry-pi2/script.deb.sh | sudo bash ... $ sudo EXTERNAL_URL="http://myurl.com" apt-get install gitlab ... Good day, everyone! On the manufacturer's website Allwinner H5, it says: 2 Display device, dual display (same or different content) HDMI & CVBS. Can anybody tell me how to do this? I'm willing to pay for the development of drivers and / or firmware to be able to work on an Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 H5 device with two displays (1- HDMI, 2-TVout) - at the same time. With suggestions, please contact me at tigroidit@gmail.com

I use two Orange pi PC for music studio use with Jack, Ardour and several midi software to use with midi surface controls and keyboards. Everything works great with an external USB DAC but when I try to use the on board DAC through the HDMI output the sound comes out slowed down to maybe a third of the speed making everything sound like it's in slow motion. Any help to fix this would really be appreciated.

Hi, I am using the Ubuntu desktop image found here https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-prime/ I am able to start the board, it lights up and connects to the network via ethernet -- I see it come up in my DHCP table and am then able to connect via SSH Docs say to use root:1234 for login, but I get Access denied. I found another forum post that says root is disabled via SSH by default. When I try to connect locally, I get no video from HDMI so I don't know what it's loading up to. I had hoped to be able to configure via SSH but can't get in. Any ideas on how I can proceed? Thank you!

I’m running ARMBIAN 5.38 stable on a Banana Pro and having the board go unresponsive regularly – meaning I can't login via SSH (getting a "port 22: Host is down" error) and applications stop running. I’ve used the Banana Pro board with an external 4TB harddrive via eSATA as a media/backup server with a similar software set up for several years (running regular updates). Occasionally it would go non-responsive, but I’d generally be able to run it for weeks without a restart. The need for a restart became more frequent until now it won't run for more than 12 hours without trying to log in via ssh and seeing “port 22: Host is down” and the programs like plex and …

I am using orange pi + 2e, the distribution version of ubuntu I am currently using. How do I start my device under 2 seconds, is there a suitable linux distribution? On the device I only use the python programming language, and some image compression and sending operations are being done.I shut down units like Wireless and Ethernet,Desktop but I did not get much acceleration. What are your suggestions? How much acceleration can I record if I start the version of the armbian mainline in ram disk?

I've just asked this question on the UNIX StackExchange - but I am hoping that the Armbian wizards may have a better idea on what is happening. The setup: - Machine 1 is an Arch Linux laptop, on which `ssh` is spawned, connecting to an Armbian-running SBC (an Orange PI Zero). - The SBC itself is connected via Ethernet to a DSL router, and has an IP of 192.168.1.150 - The laptop is connected to the router over WiFi. - There's also another laptop (Machine 2) connected via Ethernet to the DSL router. When benchmarked with `iperf3`, the link between the laptop and the SBC is less than the theoretical 56 MBits/sec - as expected, since …

I recently purchased a number of Orange Pi and Nano Pi boards, and discovered the awesome work of the Armbian team :-) The Orange Pi Plus2 H5 is a rather nice board - built in eMMC, H5, etc. (I wish it had 1GB of RAM but that's a different subject.) I'd love to use these boards for a number of projects. As a test, I modified the DTS for the board (mainline kernel) to enable support for the 1.1v/1.3v switch for VDD-CPUX using the SY8113B on the board. I also enabled the allowed clock changes to 1.2GHz for cpufreq. All of this worked great, but the board was very unstable at anything over 1GHz, which seemed strange, given that the CPU voltage should be swit…

Hy I'm currently trying to run a DS18B20 Temperature Sensor on the PA20 Port on my Neo Core 2. The w1_gpio und w1_therm modules are loaded but still I can't see the senors in the /sys/bus/w1/devices/ folder. (28-xxxx) Now I read in different threads to edit the FEX file in the /boot/ folder. So I would bee to first covert the script.bin to the script.fex. However I can't find any *.bin file in the /boot/ folder... So is the PA20 Port the correct 1Wire port? And how can I change this port to eg. GPIOG11 if I can't find the script.bin in the /boot/ folder? Andy

I'd like to install the latest Armbian for Orange Pi PC, but want to remove GUI / desktop packages and use CLI only. I can't find any docs on how to create a tailored distro without GUI (and associated) packages. So I guess an alternative is to install a standard legacy distro, then trim out the GUI (and likely other) packages as desired. Any suggestions or documentation? Thx.

Hi, I was using my M2 Plus yesterday getting the 3rd USB to work, everything went well with that got it working, and if I remember correctly I also ran the Update & Upgrade through the armbian-config utility before shutting everything down, today when I got back from class with a custom PCB adapter for the 3rd USB, I connect it with the USB device, I connect the power to the board and wait for the VirtualHere server to start up and show up at my computer, when I noticed it wasn't showing up I did a ip scan and couldn't see the ip, connected a screen to the HDMI and got this on the boot up, it just cycles through the same screen. Hi, I'm running Armbian 5.38 with kernel 3.4.113-sun8i on an Orange Pi Zero. I'm writing an audio streaming application using the portaudio library for accessing the soundcard. Hello everybody. Faced such a problem. When connecting to the HDMI port of the monitor, no image is displayed on the monitor. More precisely, the line at boot time is visible, but the desktop is not displayed. If you connect to a TV via HDMI port, there is an image. I connect OrangePi Plus 2, via HDMI-HDMI cable. Hey folks, I'm trying to play back a couple test files, H.264, 720p. These play without dropping frames on the stock Android ROM for a little while but then freeze, seemingly on certain keyframes? It's always in the same place. Anyway, I tried playing them with mpv on Armbian 5.38 desktop install and it drops frames like crazy. I know the stock Android ROM can play back Youtube content (in the app) without dropping frames - it seems like this should be doable based on what I understand about the capabilities of the A20 and on hardware support in the legacy kernel in the Armbian image ... is there tuning I should be doing? Or options for mpv that I can try? I've used VLC f…

I have just received an Orange Pi PC Plus, and am mostly happy with it. Linux orangepipcplus 4.14.18-sunxi is installed on a microSD card. There is a minor problem with IP addresses. When I first turned it on I forgot to plug in the network cable, so naturally ifconfig showed no IP address. I plugged in the cable, waited a minute, and tried again. Still no address. Maybe it's not hot-pluggable. Reboot, and I got an address. Since it was outside the range my server accepts I assigned a static address in the router, and rebooted the router. ifconfig still showed the first address, even though the router's client list showed the new …

Hi I would like to communicate whith an arduino(as receiver) with RF 433. On a first thought I wanted to use rc-switch lib, do you know if there is a way to use it with the PI zero(transmitter) once I have installed the wiring pi zero? if not what would be my best choice as library for OPIZ (and arduino as receiver)? As MCU are better choices to drive hardware part, would it be a good idea to interface OPIZ with a ATMEGA328 as a SPI slave which one would drive the 433 RF emitter with the rc-switch lib above? This would be the overkill situation as I'm new to SPI (and OPIZ). thx

Hello, after the usual apt update/apt upgrade the OS requested a reboot. However it then fails to boot. Here's the output of the console: I guess the critical stuff is what I marked in bold? So what happened here and what to do to recover? Not keen to reinstall the whole OS... Edit: I pulled th SD-Card and read it from a Linux PC. When I take a look at /boot/boot.scr it is clearly corrupted! If I'm correct there's binary data inside, however in the hexdata I can see some segments with ASCII text fragments inside that releates to my private data (e.g. names of mp3 files!!) and that shoud definitely not be in boot.scr. So whatever…

Libre software refers to the free software foundation's guidelines. Can you make an entirely libre software armbian version work on the orange pi one or other orange pi computers? How good will it work? About the orange pi one which devices will not work if only libre armbian software is installed? Do they use uboot? Thanks.

The freedombox.org is libre software. The software provides a server solution having a list of preinstalled programs. I want to wake up my orange pi plus 2e device through the pin. It will feature a PIR sensor on this pin. I did research in the forum, but I could not find any documents. We can wake up by applying a interrupt like Arduino through a pin. How do I follow a path for this device? When I take the device to sleep, I can not wake it up again. The buttons on it do not function at all.

Hello guys, do you know what might cause this error, it seems my "smart home" controller is not booting up anymore. In the last 2 weeks it happent again to not display any webpage while accessing it by IP, also the SSH was not working, all leds ware blinking like usually are, like there was normal activity, but it didn't respond to any request, only the ping was working, anything else was not (apache, samba, ssh). I turned it off by long-pressing the power button, it booted up, showing this warning "warning bad CRC - using default enviroment" and it passed by, showing the armbian logo and a blinking cursor, but that's it, nothing more. I think it …

I'm using Armbian 5.38 stable Debian stretch 4.14.14-sunxi on A20 Lime2. I try to use PGxx pins (connector GPIO-1 on board), without any luck. I know i must use formula (position of letter in alphabet - 1) * 32 + pin number, so i have tried (for PG11): echo 203 > /sys/class/gpio/export echo out > /sys/class/gpio/gpio203/direction echo 1 > /sys/class/gpio/203/value but nothing happened. I tried from 192 to 203 (PG00 to PG11), but nothing happened. On the same connector (GPIO-1), PC23, PC18 and PB23 work perfectly. What am i doing wrong?

I've been using a Cubieboard2 and I have been struggling to get the SPI to work. I've edited the armbianEnv.txt and added the spi0 and spi-spidev to the overlay line. I see the overlays being loaded and I get (only when I've got the spi-spidev overlay on) a /dev/spi0.0 In the dmesg I see a line like "scanning for SPI0 on DT" (paraphrasing as I don't have the screen in front of me ATM.) I don't see any other diagnostic about the SPI though. I haven't jumpered the MOSI to the MISO yet (for a "loopback" test) The kernel is compiled with the sun7i-SPI driver as well as the usermode spi driver. Is this al…

Hi, I use armbian distribution on opi+2e , in order to operate the Jeedom home automation system. I occasionally encounter crashes of my opi, which becomes inaccessible in SSH. We are several users of this system to encounter the same problems. In logs, date is 1970, so we suspect a time synchronization problem. We use timedatectl for ntp synchronization, but it appears that rtc clock (fake clock) is not stable. Why? Any solution to keep rtc clock synchronous with ntp? Somes members of Jeedom community try with hardware RTC clock on I2C, and it seems working. But any existing other solutions? Thanks.

Hello, I am trying to have a serial link between an arduino and a banana pi. As a basic test, the Arduino is sending "hello" every seconds. I observe that the reception by the Banana pi is not good. I have tried , several baud rates, /dev/ttyS2 and FTDi adaptor. The best result seems to be with the FTDI adapter , at 115200 bps. But I have still a lot of errors, see below. When I plug the FTDI adapter on my laptop, it works without issues. Do you know what could be the cause of my issues? Hi! Upgrading to the mainline kernel removes /dev/snd/seq, which is needed for MIDI applications. Synthesizers are my main interest in using these boards, so that is a big loss. Since the module is enabled in the legacy kernel, perhaps this is unintentional and could be added to the mainline kernel? Thank you for all your work. Regards, brkl

BACKGROUND: Back on June 27th, I posted my questions regarding my wish to have certain kernel features activated (or not) by default in the Armbian/Debian kernels of the time -- specifically since I wanted to activate 'PPS' features in order to build a Stratum 1 GPS/PPS timeserver: Kernel Option Requests? Here are the 'old' instructions that I used back in June: ORANGE PI PLUS H3 with GPS/PPS I ended up needing to install VirtualBox with an Ubuntu 16.04 environment, and successfully created what I needed (i.e. 3.4.113-PPS-sun8i).
