Hello, Since a week I try moving the OS on the sdcard to an attached SSD. OS: Armbian 5.65 Ubuntu Xenial 3.4.113 desktop Because the BPIM1 has a genuime SATA interface it should work. I have found dozens of tutorials how to do this. Until now I did not find any tutorial that works. Of course I started with nand-install expecting this would work out of the box. But after the install and rebooting I got the notification that it couldn't find the ssd. I guess I have to change something in the bootloader on the sdcard? (I am not a Linux expert but an enthustiastic Linux user) Is there any working tutorial including the final…

  2. hallo, i downloaded debian jessy image with kernel 4.0.5 from there: http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Lamobo-r1_Debian_3.1_jessie_4.0.5.zipand installed it on bananapi. at first boot seems to be system self-autoconfigured and reboots. Now i see that /etc/network/interfaces is linked with interfaces.r1 and in /boot i found those files: config-4.0.5-lamobo-r1, System.map-4.0.5-lamobo-r1, vmlinuz-4.0.5-lamobo-r1. can it be that autoconfiguration has my bpi as router configured. How can i fix that manualy? nex question: on the boot i see one pinguine, but while bpi has 2 cores it shoul be 2 pinguins or not ? best regards Marijus

  3. Hello all, I bought this OPZ, it was cheap and I was curious. Primarily for a yet-another-headles-server-without-wifi. I am used to different hardware and Debian since "the days You compiled Linux kernel in just 48 hours". I read quite a lot about OPZ and different OS solutions - You have quite a few weeks before You get Your parcel from China to Your mailbox in Sweden. My first SD card I bought from China, it was Kingston 16GB class 10 an all of that. Worked like charm in couple of hours then after reboot it was unreadable. I spent days in search for solution, tried to reformat it in different ways on different machines and using different OS and software combination.…

  5. Yesterday I nearly burned my orange pi zero because of the faulty LAN cable, after that, everything I plugged into the expansion board couldn't be detected anymore by lsusb or dmesg, it works fine though if I plug in my thumb drive / usb wifi into the usb port on the main board (Next to the LAN port). How do I know for sure that my expansion board is broken and not the pin headers in the main board ? I'm not an electronic guy I don't know anything about soldering and stuff.

  6. Hello, I had a telecommunication technician logged onto my router + later that night a power outage. Now my pi (not sure before or after or related to anything), now the lights go on the pi (both + the one on the network), I can see it on the router with an IP but that is it. I can't logon to it on that IP with Putty nor can I ping it from the console on the PC. I tried now 3-4 of the builds (older ones, one official one and so on) with the flash card, but always the same. I don't have an USB to TTL converter to try that route. Is there anything else I can do? There is no way to do a hard reset, right?

  9. Hi all, I noticed that my OrangePi freezes after 4-5 days of uptime. Something happens (usually around 06:00) when my script simply stop working (no more log entries) and then reboots after ~12 hours (exactly at 13:17 in all occasions). Finally the orange pi becomes unresponsive and heats up to 85-90 degree Celsius. I've checked CPU temperature, disk and memory usage but haven't found anything... I'm a beginner in armbian and completely having no idea what could be the root casue. Could you please help? 10. Hi Just got my first Orange Pi Zero today. Everything looking good, with the exception, if I run iperf tests between this and a linux host, the Orange Pi Zero will reboot without any error messages. I changed my power supply to a wall plug which can support 2.4amp easily, also tried to tune down the frequency to 900Mhz max, 4 cores, turned off HDMI/GPU, USB. DRAM is at minimum, 408 I think. Temperature remains at 55 to 58C Still once a while during heavy network, the board will reboot. The image i used is the legacy image posted on orange pi zero, Armbian_5.24_Orangepizero_Debian_jessie_3.4.113 Thanks Jerry

  12. Hi All, I'm using a rather old Armbian (wheezy) image on an Olimex Micro. I've installed a lot of apps on it, so I don't want to be moving to a newer image. I'm trying to copy my SD card image to NAND using the `nand-sata-install.sh` script that came with the image. All goes well. The script partitions the NAND, reboots, installs all files and shuts down. When I remove the SD card and power on, the board boots and everything is still alright. Now, on subsequent poweroffs or reboots, the board does boot, but I doesn't connect to ethernet. Boot logs from debug UART show that `proc` isn't mounted. Error: /proc must be mounted What could be the reaso…

  14. Started by Don Pedro,

Hello, I'm running a Cubietruck with legacy kernel (3.4.113) since a long time. The use of the legacy kernel is mainly due to the fact that I'm booting from onboard NAND and this was not supported by the mainline kernel for a long time. Meanwhile Armbian's mainline kernel became Stretch in its server flavor and I'm thinking about migrating. However I'm suspicious this will still break NAND boot, despite the fact that the documentation claims plus "missing NAND support" is not listed under "known issues" for the Cubietruck. Can anyone confirm or deny that mainline kernel meanwhile does/does not support booting from NAND on Cubietruck? And if…

the nand-sata-install always proposes the sda1 as a destination. this did not fit what i needed. i have had success by editing the file and replace all sda1 with sdxx (whatever i need) and then it works (the information gives the wrong size in the initial screen). i looked into the code (but i do not understand bash programming): it seems that sda1 is hardwired despite the intention to find all possible destinations and to offer them. it is a useful utility, as it does several things at once (copy stuff, change fstab) which are otherwise separate coordinated steps. thank you for the utily! andrew install into nand did the correct copying, but did not …

Then you have to delete into another computer in sd card your scirpt bin file and rename script.bin.back to script.bin to return to HDMI monitor. DVI does not work at all . maybe it is producer error not software.

Just stumbled upon this new board by the Friendlyarm folks. http://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=197 Lots of signals exposed on the strip contacts, including Ethernet and USB, though magnetics and connectors aren't there, which makes this even more interesting to build thin appliances: you add connectors when you need them. Good! I'll probably order a couple to start playing with, but will take forever to ship over here.

  53. The Luma library allows you to display text, graphics, animation, etc. on multiple display types. Here I will describe the easiest one to configure which is Luma.OLED and the I2C version of the SSD1306. You can find these displays on EBay and Amazon for less than $10 US each (you can get them for less than $3 US if you order from China, but it might not show up). I've configured Luma on many SBCs and it's my go to library if I need a small display for projects. Requirements NanoPi Duo (I used V1.0 board with 512 MB RAM) flashed with Armbian image. 57. I just flashed https://dl.armbian.com/nanopiduo/Ubuntu_bionic_next.7z and it doesn't appear to detect the onboard wifi. ip a only shows lo and eth0. I'm going to try the expansion board with Ethernet onboard and see what shows up. OK, just tried this on a adapter board with Ethernet and now there's an eth0 and Wired Connection 1. It appears the eth0 is really the wifi adapter, but nmtui treats it like an Ethernet connection. Same issue with https://dl.armbian.com/nanopiduo/Debian_stretch_next.7z Wifi not detected, but eth0 is detected instead of wlan0.

I was wondering should I compare the FriendlyElec's sun8i-h2-plus-nanopi-duo.dtb to the one on Armbian? I already tried messing with Armbian's sun8i-h2-plus-nanopi-duo.dtb by changing usb@01c19000 status = "okay" and adding dr_mode = "host". I'm not sure I can just drop in the dtb? Any way, I'll see what I can figure out. I'm excited the OTG port works now for more than just power since that saves you from buying the Mini Shield if you have a simple project that just needs a USB drive or camera.

Hello, I have problems with the u-boot both with the prebuild "Armbian_21.05.1_Nanopineo_buster_current_5.10.34" image from the armbian.com and with the "Armbian_21.08.0-trunk_Nanopineo_buster_current_5.10.59_minimal" image built form sources . First of all, the u-boot versions are different. The prebuilt image has "U-Boot 2021.04-armbian" and the second one - "2020.10" The board boots ok with the both images, but the u-boot does not see the SD card properly and is not able to load the environment file from it: "Loading Environment from FAT... Card did not respond to voltage select! : -110" Is there any fix for this problem? Thanks, …

  92. This is a rather interesting board isn't it? H3, GPIO, 0.5GB memory. http://www.cnx-software.com/2016/07/07/smaller-than-raspberry-pi-zero-meet-nanopi-neo-arm-linux-development-board/ Would it be possible to run this on Armbian?

I'm trying to use the kernel-driver (1) for a DHT11 (or DHT22) humidity sensor with my NanoPi NEO. I'm already got this sensors working with some little C example-programs in userspace. I figured out that I need to apply a Device Tree overlay because the driver (dht11.c) needs to know the gpio-pin where the sensor is connected to. So - I don't know how to write such a file from scratch - I customised a existing overlay file - "sun8i-h3-pps-gpio.dts" (2) - only the lines "pins" (PG6) & "compatible with" (dht11) & "gpios" (&pio 6 6 1) /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun8i-h3"; fragment@0 { …

I recently received my kit, which consists of the Neo, heatsink, and acrylic shell. Installed Debian_jessie_default.7z with Etcher onto a Kingston SDCIT/8GBSP. PCB 1.3+ uses a more sophisticated voltage regulator than earlier revisions... The temperature is excellent so far (only 40c). I can run some more tests if someone provides instructions. So these boards do not in fact require a heavy copper plane for heat dissipation. I did use a superior heat pad rather than the one that is provided with the heatsink kit. Ideally, you would want something like a 4mm or so copper shim with good quality thermal paste applied to bo…

  97. HI, I have the following NanoPi Neo 2 boards, hardware v 1.1, model 1711 with 1Gb RAM Linux 4.19.13-sunxi64 #5.70 SMP Sat Jan 12 17:41:57 CET 2019 aarch64 GNU/Linux I have noticed that various network related tasks fail at boot apparently at eth0 is not yet ready This includes network mounts via /etc/fstab and disabling IPv6 via /etc/sysctl.conf My current solution (which I feel is a complete bodge) is to have extra commands in /etc/rc.local that after a 5 second sleep issue a 'mount -a' and 'sysclt -p' I have tried solutions for 'wait for network' on boot but neither work. systemctl enable …

  98. Hi, Is the first time that I will post on the forum. I don't know if it is the right place for it. Sorry if my question doesn't belong here. I want to install that program (USB Network Gate Linux) on the lastest version of Armbian Debian based (No Ubuntu) on my board, which is NanoPi NEO 2 1GB. After plugged into the board, I entered via SSH, change psswd and I did: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade Downloaded the file with wget https://cdn.electronic.us/products/usb-over-ethernet/linux/download/eveusb_armv7l.deb I tried to install it with dpkg -i eveusb_armv7l.deb But I get missing dependencies so... sudo ap…

Hi everybody, I would like to use the Nanopi NEO2 as firewall and therefore would like to support testing ethernet. I setup an iperf server on Nanopi NEO2 and I am running the client on my iMac to test stability of ethernet connections. After around 30-40 seconds the ethernet links goes down and is coming up back again.
