Hello everyone. I just got an Orange Pi Plus 2e, which I intend to use a as a personal cloud server. I understand that, in this board, Legacy Kernel is much better than Mainline for desktop usage (video accel, TV out, etc.), but I am not so clear about which one is better for a server. May main concerns are: Ethernet and Wifi speed and reliabililty (ethernet will conect to Internet, and Wifi to home devices as an AP) I/O speed for the USB attached HD Security Any advice about which Kernel to choose? Thanks!

  2. In the 3.4 Kernel I could call: rmmod dhd modprobe dhd op_mode=2 To set the wifi module to Access Point mode. But with the latest Kernel 4.14(?) neither of these modules exist. Does anyone know what the equivalent of this code would be for 4.14, or some other way to enable AP mode?

  3. I have an Orange Pi PC Plus and I'm looking for a USB video grabber. Could you suggest me some models which are easy to setup and work with OPi reliably?

Hi, I have some armbian 5.38 (kernel 4.11.5) installations and recently updated them. With this update I got kernel 4.14.18. I recently started playing around with OrangePi Zero with the Allwinner H2+ CPU. I want to test out the internal audio DAC. To do so I enabled "analog-coded" in armbian-config. After rebooting I saw a new audio device in the output of "pacmd list-cards", but it says that only mono is available. How can I configure stereo sound? I haven't played around with "/etc/asound.conf" much as I don't understand it. Also, I don't have anything plugged into the audio pins on the GPIO.

  6. Is there anything that can be done about it? Something will start(e.g. minisatip, mumudvb) to disproportionately use the cpu and after a short time it will crash completely. A similar configuration works well on an OPI PC(Linux orangepipc 4.10.1-sun8i #1 SMP Sun Mar 5 18:47:02 CET 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux), but with newer versions it behaves just as incorrectly. I've tested other images (ubuntu, debian), but it's the same everywhere.

  7. Hello everyone, I encountered an issue while using SPI with my Orange Pi 3 LTS, and now I'm going to share some solutions. Perhaps the Armbian Team can assist me in resolving the final problem. These tests were conducted on Armbian 23.02.2 Bullseye with Linux 5.15.93-sunxi64. The initial step I took to ensure the appearance of `spidev` on the Orange Pi 3 LTS was to include these configurations in `/boot/armbianEnv.txt`. overlays=spi-spidev1 param_spidev_spi_bus=0 param_spidev_spi_cs=0 Note: If `spi-spidev` and `spi-spidev1` are added together, it will not work, and the `spidev` will not appear when using the `ls /dev/sp*` command. …

  51. I am using the latest Armbian version with a legacy kernel on my M2+ board. The Armbian forum has already been a great source of help. Now I am facing a new issue: - for my setup the IPv6 NAT netfilter module is required, which was introduced in Kernel 3.7 So in my understanding I have two options: a) backport the kernel module(s) to the legacy Kernel by customizing the armbian build process switch to the mainline Kernel The mainline kernel for H3 boards seems to lack support for Gigabit ethernet and in general still remains no recommended for potential overheating problems? Thus, I guess I have to get working on the Kernel module backports. Do yo…

  53. as of some network release before the current (unsupported) 4.11.3 kernel, the networking has started having random value hw mac addresses on every boot. I suspect if you can do so and look @ your DHCP server, you will possibly see the orangepi (or whatever your hostname is) lurking there. Another way to do it if you have to, is to /sbin/ifconfig and get the HWaddr and look for that mac address on your dhcp server. I came by your post while trying to find a workable solution to assigning the mac on the orangepi zero 512 I am bringing up. Jim

  54. On my orangepi pc (legacy kernel) I'm trying to using separately the left and right channel as two separate sound cards (to be used by two different programs). I have a working asoundrc for that, but the problem is that the left channel leaks into the right one and viceversa. They also do the same on my laptop, but there it's hardly noticeable. It's not a matter of my asounrc, I confirmed it also with speaker-test. I suppose it's a hardware issue, right? BTW the right and left channel are inverted (and that could be a driver issue). This is the my asoundrc, the !default line is because one of the two programs is linphone and I couldn't find a…

Hello! I recently bought a generic Waveshare 800x480 HDMI (B) USB Touchscreen (rev 3.0), and I'm having problems to make it work properly on Armbian. After a long research, I ended up realizing it's a common problem, and yet I haven't been able to find a solution. It seems there was a patch somewhere, but that link is not available anymore. I'm using the Armbian Desktop 5.31 , running on an Orange Pi One. I've already set it up using h3disp -m 800x480 -d, and tried everything but it won't work. Vertical resolution seems to be right, but horizontal only fits around 3/4 of screen and it's noisy (the same problem everyone seems to have). I have tried this with my P…

  57. Hi, I am using the Ubuntu desktop image found here https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-prime/ I am able to start the board, it lights up and connects to the network via ethernet -- I see it come up in my DHCP table and am then able to connect via SSH Docs say to use root:1234 for login, but I get Access denied. I found another forum post that says root is disabled via SSH by default. When I try to connect locally, I get no video from HDMI so I don't know what it's loading up to. I had hoped to be able to configure via SSH but can't get in. Any ideas on how I can proceed? Thank you!

  58. Hi all, Today I decided to pull my OPi Zero H3 out of its box and fire it up. Downloaded and installed Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y to a SanDisk micro sdcard grade 10 and powered it up with a known good 5v 3a power supply I've used to power my OPi Zero's via GPIO (with all my Zero's I've soldered in GPIO headers - something I'm used to doing with RC helicopter and multirotor flight controllers). Connected my USB hub with keyboard and mouse connected. Disconnected my OPi One (RetrOrangePi gaming computer) from its HDMI connection and connected it to my Zero H3 and powered it up. Boot text is on display nice and clear. Then the …

  60. I made tests with Orange Pi 2+ to install Armbian to eMMC. But I have no idea why it takes 30 minutes to install. I assume write speed of eMMC to be 5MB/s (ok maybe it is even faster) and Armbian on SD card is about 2.1GB, so it should take ~7 minutes to copy files, plus some more minutes to finish final touches, let's say 15 minutes together. But why it takes more than 30 minutes? Is there any possibility how to reduce this time? P.S. When I am burning armbian img to SD card, in 5 minutes I am ready to go and boot the system.
