Hi all! I have browsing the forum quite while but I did not a solution for my problem. I have bought the OP Zero from DX.com and it came with an expansion board which has two additional USB ports, a 3.5 mm AV socket and a built in microphone. And now I would like to use the audio socket as audio output and I want to use its microphone as well. But I headed some problems and I cannot use its audio features . I am using this kernel: Armbian_5.24_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.9.4 I think there is no audio driver installed on this system. here are some other debug info: aplay: device_list:268: no soundcards found... arecord: device_list:268: no soundc…

FriendlyARM has recently launched a new board in its NEO family: NanoPi NEO Plus2 As of Armbian_5.32.170704_Nanopineo2_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.8.img, few things aren't working: out of 1GB RAM, only 512MB is visible the USB socket closer to the edge (USBN1) is not visible, even with overlays Wifi and Bluetooth are not visible (AP6212A) (it's not a complaint, but just a statement

I'm testing the nightly image: Armbian_5.32.170704_Nanopineo2_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.8.img I've soldered 2x female A USB ports to the NanoPi Neo2 as per the pinout http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/NanoPi_NEO2#Diagram.2C_Layout_and_Dimension When I plugged in wifi dongles or USB flash drives, their light comes on, but I get nothing on lsusb and dmesg. Then I realized I had D+ and D- reversed, so I swapped them for each port, but there's still absolutely nothing when connecting devices to these ports. (I know that having D+ and D- swapped doesn't cause any damage) Do I need to somehow enable the USB ports in a fex…

Hello. I have a problem with Orange Pi Zero LTS. I also have an expansion board and the required 3.5-jack cable. I have read many different forums and sites where people have described problems with video signal output. Often there are solutions such as: 1. Editing the file /boot/script.bin But this file does not exist. 2. They also talk about the launch of "tv". You need to add an entry to /etc/modules. But that doesn't work either, since ./tvout doesn't exist. As I understand it, in new versions there is no TV support, but there is no way to download old versions either. The latest version that can be downloaded is 5.59,…

I just did an apt-get update on the mainline version of armbian and now the machine won't boot. I'l looking at the uboot output and it appears not to load the full kernel in and boot it. good morning everyone, I installed Armbian 23.02.2 on orangepizero about a year ago without ever having a problem . Today it suddenly stopped booting and I can't get it to start again and that's what I'm interested in, also possibly to recover internal docker configurations. The orangepizero is powered by a 3A power supply under UPS and properly cooled, if I use the latest release on a new SD it works perfectly, so I think it is not a hardware problem. The SD with Armbian 23.02.2 is not corrupted and I can read every part of it. Does anyone know any tricks to get it running again?

Hi! I have an old Allwinner A10 based tablet that runs on Android. I want to install some other OS on it. I tried the instructions on linux-sunxi.org and created a page for the tablet: https://linux-sunxi.org/Softwinners_crane I extracted the FEX file from an image I got from the manufacturers a long time ago: http://github.com/linux-sunxi/sunxi-boards/pull/72/files The linux-sunxi mailing list pointed out that my tablet is similar to Topwise A721, so I used that dts file to compile u-boot and the kernel, and tried to boot it through an SD card. Trying to boot that, u-boot starts, and then gets stuck at "Starting kernel..." Then I found…

When starting orange pi, it happens that not all the RAM is available. That is, the orange pi has 2 GB of RAM and it is written that there is only 1 GB of RAM. This often happens when restarting using the reboot command. If you turn off the power and reconnect, this problem appears much less often. Hi Igor, I grabbed your 4.1 image, flashed it onto the microsd Card and boot the cubietruck. However, I received the message from my display: Out of specification: 67.5kHz / 60 Hz. The first boot is ok, but after starting the kernel the screen turns black and above mentioned message apears. This happens on the analouge (VGA) input and on the digital input (DVI) as well. How to fix the problem?? I never had any display problems with all your images. never! This is the first time. I might to use your 4.0 image to return into operation again. regards, hitam4450

Hello, just installed R1 image, solved power issues as described on this forum and now trying to configure it as classic home router. So I got a problem configuring DHCP server - system works in interfaces.r1 mode that means lan and wlan are bridged to wan. Wlan and Lan interfaces configured as manual that is not very handy, so I need to install DHCP server and make some NAT. And here goes a problem - I am not very skilled in linux networking and cant figure out how to combine NAT and R1 interfaces to get classical router behavior (externalDHCP-WAN-NAT192.168.0.1-internal DHCP-LAN and WLAN DHCP clients). Can someone give me directions? Maybe there is a way to install som…

Hello everybody! There was a problem, my OrangePI R1 with the Armbian Stretch OS running works in the access point + bridge mode (hostapd & bridge-utils), and when the client downloads a large file from the network, the RTWHALXT process loads the CPU by 100% and rtw_xmit_thread by 20% (watched using top) as a result, the processor freezes. How to fix it? Thanks in advance, sorry for my English I am from Uzbekistan.

Hello. I remodel my Philips TV 32PFL4258T in a media center. The motherboard burned to the TV. There is no point in buying a new one. He had not worked very well before that. I installed universal scaler Z.VST.3463.A1. I bought myself Orange Pi One and installed Arbian 5.30. But when you start the browser and the video on YouTube, after 5 minutes, the promo starts to buggy and hang. The processor temperature is 55 degrees. According to the SSH, a 1% swap file is written. I think then, when viewing the memory, it eats much more and faster. Kodi also works. If you do not watch movies and programs nimble. As soon as you turn on the film everything is badly hangi…

Hi All, I have R1 issue again. After lot of experiments and tuning, I decided try to use R1 for real routing :-) It means dual WAN, lot of VLANs, thousands connections, traffic shaping etc. Everything worked well, until yesterday. As whole Europe has real summer these days, working temperature of my R1 is around 30 celsius. I experienced strange issues when traffic is very high. This happen approx. twice a day. System was not restarted, but PPPOE goes down, kernel reinitialize some hardware and everything continues well. Outage is several seconds only. I have to say, that I'm using OpenWrt for this application, but the system is well patched and worked without prob…

Hi, I have bought Orange Pi Zero and installed Armbian Ubuntu version. Device (and OS!) works fantastic. However, I have a problem, because DNS resolving does not work until I manually edit /etc/resolv.conf file and enter: nameserver <ip_of_my_router> The problem is, I am using my Zero device in different networks, so I need to reconfigure it every time I connect it to other network. Is there any solution for this? In fact, it is quite weird, I have tried several things (when DNS resolving was not working), for instance: dig @8.8.8.8 www.slo-tech.com any and got only: ; <<>> DiG 9.10.3-P4-Ubuntu <<>> @8.8.8.8 www.sl…

Hi, Thanks for the excellent distribution I noticed that in the hardwareinfo script there is no bananapipro result and when I boot new vanilla 4.5 Kernel the banana.dtb file is used instead of the bananapro.dtb As a result, no wifi, see also last two replies here for similar issue with M1: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/340-banana-pi-m1plus-no-wifi/?p=2138 Dirty Solution: hardcode loading bananapipro.dtb in boot.cmd. (Edit: it's a red herring for me to worry about swap. Please see a few posts down...) Hello. My NanoPi Neo 2 only has 512MB RAM. I'm using it for OpenMediaVault. It starts swapping very badly (totally paralysing it) when I FTP 60GB worth of tiny files into an attached 500GB SSD SATA drive (attached with the NAS kit). Yes, ProFTPd is RAM-hungry! I know how to create and work with traditional linux swap files. I'm a noob to this whole zram thing, which I suspect is more trouble than it's worth. I would prefer to not use zram, and use a traditional swap file on an attached 6TB 3.5" SATA drive (attached over USB 2.0 with UAS). It's a backup dri…

I'm trying to get a csi cam from aliexpress to work on my orange pi one running Armbian_5.10_Orangepih3_Debian_jessie_3.4.112. I've modified the fex and tried modding the gc2035 kernel driver, and tried several different applications. Everything has failed so far. Are there any resources that describe what I need to do to get it to work? All hardware is new (with a 3a power supply too). Hello guys, soon I will receive this nice toy (512MB) and I want to be prepared for my project: a domestic vpn server (using pptp) serving 1 o 2 guests at most. For this project I just need the RJ45 socket thus I would like to switch off as much as possible (e.g. GPU, on board wifi and others if there). Someone can point me to some resources or list what I can do to accomplish this? P.S. I know that pptp is not as secure as IPSec (and maybe IPSec is heavier for such device) but for the purpose of my project it is enough. Thanks a lot Gianni

I'm running the latest armbian on my Banana Pi M1 as a headless file/media server. My problem is that my Banana Pi would randomly stop working any time of the day. A day would not pass by without me having to reboot my server manually by pressing the reset button. There would still be network activity as the activity lights on the LAN keeps on flashing and it would still respond to my ping requests. I'd know it stopped working if I can't access the server's services anymore through its web ui (webmin, transmission, etc.) and to confirm this I'd try to SSH into it and it wouldn't connect. I tried creating a script where it would restart the LAN if it pinged the…

Hi, I am new to Orange Pi, Armbian and this forum. Done lots of Raspberry Pi and other Linux stuff. Can someone tell me if the Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 H3 & H5 boards are supported by armbian? They are available on Aliexpress here(H3) and here(H5). They are not listed on the download page, but are listed in this post. Also, if they are supported, is it better choosing the H3 or H5 variant? Seems to me like the H3 might have better software support, and might be the better choice.

Hi there! I've recently configured the ov5640 camera overlay and was able to capture videos either with mjpg-streamer of ffmpeg. Now on 6.1.34 both causes now a kernel oops. From the stack trace it looks like it happens inside v4l2 "media_pad_remote_pad_first" Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000030 ... ... PC is at media_pad_remote_pad_first+0xa/0x58 I don't think v4l2 is the root cause because this may mean it fails alle the time which is unlikely. Looks like a null ptr gets passed in into media_pad_remote_pad_first ffmpeg used like this, but other parameters all resulting in the kernel oop…

Hi all, Today my second OPi arrived, a +2E. I already have an OPi PC which is working like a charm. So I ordered a +2E as well. I have an older monitor (Dell 2007WFP) with DVI connector and a native resolution of 1680x1050. From previous experience from the OPi PC, I know that I had to run the 'h3disp' tool to set up this resolution and to make it work via an HDMI-DVI cable. So I connected my new +2E through a normal HDMI cable to my 1080p TV, installed Armbian (Jessie desktop, with legacy kernel), updated to the latest release through 'apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade' and after a reboot ran 'h3disp -m 36 -d', just as I had with the OPi PC. After r…

I have an odd problem with a Orange Pi Zero H2+ 512mb I have samba setup with share all correctly BUT my windows XP pc cant see the share name at all unless I search for the IP then under the IP I can setup share maps on my PC and all is good. However I have tried 4 different Windows 10 PCs now and they cannot see either the server name or even the IP to get the shares :-( even though I can ping the server (OP-zero) IP address and get a perfect response. I am tearing my hair out here I need this to work on Windows 10 for a small server project I am working on. Also the exact same PCs CAN see the Shares and server easy with the exact same setup with Ubuntu 16.…

I got the mali stuff working on my H3 on my orange pi one to great success for use with the HTC Vive, but I'm trying to get it working on my H5 on my Orange Pi Zero Plus 2. I can't seem to get any work done as far as installing the mali modules/etc since I can't find the mali node in any of the dtb's. Also, because I am trying to use the normal armbian system, instead of installing my own sunxi-next kernel. I've switched to nightly, but can't figure out how to edit my own changes to the dts's that are built to add add the extra mali node (not that I have any idea where the mali450 is on the H5!). Any help would be greatly appreciated. …

I am currently in the middle of a build using Debian Wheezy on cubieboard1's that requires a 2nd network interface, I have purchased 3 different USB3.0 to Ethernet interfaces, all of which turned out to be Asix ax88179 chipsets. Hello everyone, I have purchased an OPI PC + with intent to use it as a reciever for OGN, a network of recievers used for monitoring FLARM position info of equiped aircraft. http://wiki.glidernet.org/ I have flashed the Legacy 3.4.112 Jessie Desktop image first to the sd card and then installed it to the internal memory of the device. All went smoothly thus far. Then I ran into the problem that is the reason I am posting this thread. When I ran the bootscript for the installation of the OGN software, I got the following error message in the console: Bootscript source: http://ognconfig.onglide.com/ root@orangepipcplus:/home/andrej# wget http://ognconfig.…

Hi all, I'm a n00b e to the SBCs and linux I've bought my very first SBC:orange pi PC, and it arrived the day before after some struggling with the "connection refused" error (just resolve it by opening the remote login inside preference>sharing on my macOS 10.12) I finally enter the login screen, and use the command "ssh root@169.254.134.132" to my terminal it denied my password request I'm sure the password I've used is 1234, but whatever I used this, or restart my computer, using the desktop version, even changing other workable SD card, it still get the same result. (I'm not going to use the nightly version, seems it doesn't get any end sup…

Hi All, Sorry if this has been asked before, I haven't been able to find the answer yet. I wish to configure my OrangePi's (Lite and PC+) such that they power on automatically whenever the power is restored after a power outage without needing to press the power button. I'm not sure where we could configure this as the OrangePi's don't seem to have a bios like a Desktop PC. Dave.

I'm running a dockerized VDR server on the BPi, still on bananian. Every time I installed armbian, I had to discover that video playback on remote devices started to stutter. Without knowing about the details, my guess is that this is owed to the fact that the mainline kernel build does not feature hw video decoding. (Though I'm not sure whether bananian had it actually.) Unfortunately I cannot use the legacy kernel build, as docker is not supported on that platform. Is there any chance to kind of enable hw video acceleration on the mainline build? I saw some posts here and there in the forum on that topic, but none seemed really having solved it d…

Hello, will there be a dedicated Armbian version for NanoPi Duo? I have tried Armbian_5.33.171013_Nanopineo_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.5.img, which worked on the Duo. Mosquitto, Node-RED and WiringOR could be installed without problems. One thing doesnt work until now is WLAN, which is not recognized by nmcli dev. Would be fine to get a validated Duo version. Hi, I'm using Nanopi DUO2 for few IoT projects. Using the microUSB serial console connection is very convenient and fast method to manage this SBC. Unfortunately with latest version of Armbian (tested with v24.11.0) it not working any more. Version 23.11.1 works fine out from the box, but after sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade the microUSB serial console is not available. Hi friends! Here is the situation. Trying the armbian jessie 3.4.109 and 4.2.3. When installing a new soft it takes to much time. For example, when running apt-get upgrade after fresh image install, it takes about 17 minutes. Of course it contain the core update. But that upgrade part on jessie takes about 7min, on wheezy about 3min. The same thing when just install some software, like apache2 or mc. It takes to much time (for mc it takes about 1 min on jessie, about 30sec on wheezy). The same with reloading. It takes about 1min. Situation is the same on both jessie 3.4.109 and 4.2.3 Tried the same with Banana PI. The same thing. I use the fastest SD card. …

Is it possible that there have been some image changes that broke the XR819 wifi completely? Hi all and thanks for the great work done. I'm trying to install armbian on the eMMC of my NanoPi M1 Plus, the system boot from SD and I create the user then I start the nand-sata-install command. Hi there, I noticed there are up to date builds for Pine64 for Debian and also up to date ones for Ubuntu for the Orange Pi Win. But none for Debian and Orange Pi Win, newest ones are from November probably with legacy kernel? Is this just some kind of build script hiccup? If not, do you have an idea about a timeframe for new Debian builds? (I'd rather not use Ubuntu if it's just a few days/weeks I'd have to wait for Debian.)

Hi, I just saw ARMBian has been upgraded to 5.00 version. I know Lamobo-r1 has many problems and that the support ended, but it works fine for me. Everything works fine with kernel 4.14.84-sunxi, however, when I update the kernel, the b53 switch does not work anymore. I need to update the kernel to add another wifi usb dongle that seems to work only with newer kernels (https://github.com/aircrack-ng/rtl8812au/issues/272#issuecomment-467983704). Anybody experiencing the same problem? Any ideas for a workaround?

At first i like to say that this problem is not caused by Armbian. On my OpiPC+ my EMMC has became unusuable. I got a first hint to this by updating 5.17 Jessie Desktop to 5.20, that failed after downloading 135 MB of Files. I did not thought of an Error and compiled 5.20 myself, put it on SDcard and run nand-sata-install. The Script does it work without any Errors, but after power down, the Opi did not come up again. Put in the SDcard again and tried to look at the EMMC but it was not mountable. There were some Errors fixed by running fsck but next time i tried to write on the Emmc i got Errors again, in fact i tried to run nand-sata-install again after i trie…

I've been using an OrangePi Zero hw rev. 1.5 for a few months with no issues, using the Stretch mainline image (4.x kernel). Suddenly the filesystem became read-only. I thought it was a SD card issue so I burned a fresh armbian to a new card. But the device does not show up in the DHCP pool with an allocated IP. Being withought a HDMI connector, an OPi Zero must be accessed via SSH. I've tried all versions, mainline and legacy. Only with Jessie legacy image, it gets an IP from the DHCP pool just on the very first boot. After that, it does not show up. I've tried the images provided by OrangePI and their Ubuntu and Raspbian images work. They have Ub…

Hi All, Is here somebody, who use R1+SATA disk+wifi together? (with Igor's great debian with kernel 3.4.107) When I switch on wifi, everything seems to be ok. I live in highly interfered area, so performance is sometimes low, but everything works for several hours. After several hours my R1 gets frozen. Last log message is "DHCP ACK" from my wifi printer. The question is, can it be power issue? I have USB power meter and current sometimes exceed 1,5A, but voltage holds still above 5V. When I tested the board with OpenWRT, I had connected USB LTE modem to R1, wifi was switched on too, but system was stable. Another thing is that OpenWRT has a bug in wifi driver and…

Dear all, we need some help from Banana Pi M2 (not that important), Cubox-i/UDOO and ODROID XU4 users. Please look through this Github issue and also have look how we currently handle IRQ redistribution on various board families (example 1 and example 2) Since irqbalanced on ARM is broken (and if it would work it's often counterproductive) assigning IRQs statically to specific CPU cores increases overall system performance slightly for free. We do this for A20 boards for years (dual core --> sending Ethernet to second CPU core), extended this on H3 boards a few months ago (quad core and somewhat complicated due to the count of different boards exposing diff…

I finally decided to give armbian a try on my Orange Pi One. Started without any issue and then I noticed that the 50°c idle. Sounds a bit high. I compliled mplayer with j3 and saw the temperature reaching 90°c then throttling down the frequency to 600MHz with a temperature of 70°c. Ultimately this board is nowhere faster than a RPI2 if it is stuck to 600MHz under heavy load. Or my Orange PI One has a serious problem. Any advice?

Hey. I got an orange pi zero + 2 that I'm trying to run armbian on. I've downloaded the both the ubuntu and debian server, and installed to the sd card using Etcher. Hi whoever can help. Just bought the Topic device. Very disappointed because of very poor docs and support. I cannot boot Armbian. There are must be something undocumented. Hi, First of all: Thank you for all the great work that you're doing, Igor! I really appreciate it. And sorry for my english. I try to install Armbian (debian jessie legacy kernel) on the NAND on cubieboard1, but I think that the installation doesn't go to the end. Initially, a lubuntu was installed on NAND (http://docs.cubieboard.org/tutorials/a10-cubieboard_lubuntu_desktop_releases) and operated normally. I booted with Sdcard "Armbian" (Armbian_4.5_Cubieboard_Debian_jessie_3.4.109) and I run ./nand-sata-install: It will tell me, all data will be deleted on nand, and after a second or so it will inform me, should reload that script after reboot after reboot, I run…

Hi there! I just received three decommissioned BananaPI M1+ from a company and I'm trying to install the latest version of Armbian Buster available on them. Once I flash the image to the SD card (tested and working fine), however, the board goes into boot loop as per the video. The only error that seems to be displayed is "EHCI failed to shut down host controller". If it can be useful to find the cause, I point out that the problem occurs with both Armbian Buster and Armbian Focal regardless of the presence of the "fdtfile=sun7i-a20-bananapi-m1-plus.dtb" line in the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file. What do you think I could do to solve it? Thank you all in advance.
