Hey there, I am a long time user of your armbian operating system. It is great, I am using it for a simple home NAS system. But I have found one problem with armbian, which is very annoying: My standard Banana Pi keeps loosing the HDD Ive connected over Sata. It is a 3,5" Seagate Barracude 3TB drive formated as Ext4. It gets 5V and 12V power and runs quite perfect, as long as it has something to do. It spins up and down as I configured it. But when I leave the pi for a longer time period unattended (no workload), and the harddrive stays in spindown-mode too long, it wont identify the HDD anymore. The mount point and the /dev/sda are gone. I need to powercycle t…

  2. Hi, Just signed on - I've got Armbian running on my BananaPI (i.e. the original plain Jane BPi) - and liking it on there so far. So - I was impressed with Armbian on there - and shelled out and got the OPi+ 2E - flashed an SDCard with Armbian - booted up - and really liking it. Only got it yesterday (took like a month after arriving in the country [AU]). Did nand-sata-install, successful and rebooted - and now running Armbian off eMMC - runs sweet. Really impressed so far - VASTLY better experience than Pine64 (I'm looking for a desktop experience on Arm - for no other reason than "because it's there"). Got Chromium browser working - synergy KVM and Plan…

I have an OPi PC+ running Armbian. Bought an RTC called "DS3231 for Pi" and connected the 3.3V, ground, SDA and SCL pins to the GPIO connector. Ran "sudo i2cdetect -y 0" and it prints a table with "UU" in position 0x68. Ran "hwclock -w -f /dev/rtc1" and the response was "bash: hwclock: command not found" I looked in a subdirectory of /etc/ and found fake_hwclock and hwclock.sh Can anyone tell me what is wrong? Perhaps I should have modified something else before running hwclock? Thanks...

  4. I'm trying to set the Pin G11 on a NanoPi Neo, previously configured as input, to output in C++ by mapping the PIO function register into the virtual memory with mmap and setting a single bit. As per the Allwinner H3 Datasheet the following hardware addresses are specified: Similar to the Raspberry Pi's function register, the Pin knows at least two states: 000: input 001: output ... In my Script, I'm therefore trying to set the 12th bit of the PG Configure Register 1. 5. Hello, My Orange Pi Zero was working during a few days. However after a few days it stopped working. I tried to install a fresh armbian (and I also tried lot's of different distribution on several SD cards), and all of them are unable to boot. Today, I tried to plug an UART cable (USB <-> Serial) during boot in order to see what happened... And here is what I got : U-Boot SPL 2016.09.01-armbian (Nov 14 2016 - 08:40:41) DRAM: 0 MiB ### ERROR ### Please RESET the board ### (The date of armbian of course depends on the version I'm running). 9. Happy New Years, I tried an LXDE ssh "MobaXterm" session with Chromium on my Orange Pi Zero 512mb. Surprised it worked however the laggy browser page scroll and javascript animations (appearing as a really slow vsync wave top to down), does that reflect real world performance when outputting to say hdmi? This Orange Pi has no immediate way to output to my tv so could not test otherwise. Is there any video hardware acceleration being used (mainline kernel Armbian) using this method? As maybe the lack thereof is the cause of lag, along with network overheads etc. Regards, Rollmeister

Hello, I have decided to try out Ubuntu 16.04 legacy on my original banana pi for the first time and to my surprise the first problem I noticed is that the usb ports weren't working at all. I tried two keyboards which are working fine on all my Linux computers all running on mint 18.3 (logiItech k360, and insignia nsc5011-c) they are both wireless keyboard + mouse combos they did not work at all on the banana. I previously had bananian on it prior to today and all usb ports were working fine as I was able to connect external usb hard drives to it. Hi everybody, I need your help in setting the default values of some or all GPIO Pin, so that it will be always activated after reboot instead of deactivated like the default is today. The reason for this is that I've connected a relaisboard to some GPIO Pins that will need "1" to be deactivated . Everything works fine, I can control and work with these Pins like needed by using "1" for OFF and "0" for ON. After booting up my BPI I initialize the needed GPIO Pins via export the pins. That will create virtual directories for these Pins with these defaults: direction -> in value -> 0 Like I mentioned, my relaiseboard need a logica…

Hi, I'm using a CubieTruck running Armbian 5.8.16. /dev/ttyS2 works fine if I use the 4.19.62 dtb but not when using the 5.8.16 dtb. I am using the uart2 overlay and param_uart2_rtscts. If I try to access the port with picocom it reports "Filedes is not a tty". Commenting the param_uart2_rtscts line makes no difference. It appears that uart2 isn't being setup as a serial port when using the 5.8.16 dtb (and overlays). But the kernel must be okay because it works with the old dtb. Does anybody have a solution here ? Or can you tell me where the sources for the dtb and overlay are ? The copies on github seem old. Thanks, S…

  21. Hello armbianers ! Armbian 22.11.1 Bullseye with Linux 5.15.80-sunxi on a banana pi m1 I've connected a lipo battery to my bpi m1, and now when I try to shutdown -h 0, it ends up in a kernel panic and instead of shutting down it remains powered up. Is there anything I can do to fix that? I'd know how to shut it down talking to the axp209 via i2c, but I'm not sure how/where to put that, or if that would be or not the proper way to go. Thanks, George.

  22. Hi, I have an Orange Pi Zero 3 with Allwinner H618 (1GB RAM version). The CPU specs say up to 1.5 GHz (1512000 kHz), and it hits that fine on other distros (like official Orange Pi Ubuntu images or Debian builds). 23. Hi, I started to adjust RPi-Monitor's settings for the Banana Pi a while ago and reworked the whole stuff in the meantime (since it was focused on Banana Pi and some parts were too quick&dirty -- especially temp file handling of the temperature daemon). I also adjusted the consumption measurements for Lamobo R1 since it's the best idea to power the board through the LiPo battery connector -- for this case you need the axp209_cpu_pmu_temp_r1.conf template! Here you find an installation overview for RPi-Monitor (takes you 3 minutes if you are able to copy&paste): http://rpi-experiences.blogspot.fr/p/rpi-monitor-installation.html Here you find what's diff…

  24. I have just received cheap WiFi dongle (paid $1.6 in Aliexpress). I don't know yet if I will solder it directly to Orange Pi One extra USB exposed solder points. Currently I want to share how to disassemble this dongle without damaging anything. Watch my short tutorial video: Using this module without the case significantly improves WiFi signal quality and range. Finally it would be possible to solder external antenna socket. Some photos:

  25. Hello, First I would like to thank Igor for his amazing work on Armbian! I know that the Lamobo/BPI R1 is very problematic with power and SATA, but when I installed Armbian 5.1 jessie with the legacy kernel, it seems that the SATA is working fine. But when I tried the same Armbian 5.1 with vanilla kernel it wasn't able to boot and the hard drive made knocking noises. Just to make sure, I disconnected the HD and it booted fine. I think that this is a software problem (maybe uboot?) because as I mentioned it works with the older kernel. I tried installing the uboot package bananapro-next as Igor adviced someone with a banana pro but it didn't help. I'm using a good…

  28. Hello, I have problem with mpd server and sound volume in mpd. When I set volume to max in alsamixer and in mpd (mpc volume 100) sound is very quiet. When I run mplayer with the same mp3 and alsamixer settings the sound is very loud. I tried mixer_type set to software and hardware in mpd.conf but with no effect. I think the problem is with allwinner audiocodec because when I use usb sound card everything works as expected ( them same sound levels in mpd and mplayer ). Is there any trick to solve this?

  29. So you guys that have more experience, what should I be looking at, when I find some code that runs on a Raspberry Pi to verify that it will also run on the Orange Pi PC? But what about i2c lcd's, max7219 matrix displays, other stuff? How does it differ the compatibility of boards between python and C code?

My display is Nokia5110 LCD or PCD8544 With spi-spidev DT I can successfully via `spidev0.0` with `spi-tools`. I.e. I confirm that spi is working. Now, I studied about DTO and fbtft driver, found that it supports pcd8544. I wrote this kind of DTO and added it to `armbianEnv.txt` /* * Device: LCD5110 (nokia5110) 1.6"(84x48px) SPI display Module PCD8544 * Module Connector * SDI(MOSI) <- PC0 * SCK <- PC2 * CS <- PC3 * RESET <- PA1 * DC/RS <- PA3 * LED <- PA2 */ /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "all…

I built an unofficial Armbian 6.12.51 (Noble) image using the build tool: Armbian-unofficial_25.11.0-trunk_Nanopiduo_noble_current_6.12.51.img I am trying to get the micro-USB port to work as a USB serial gadget (g_serial / libcomposite). What I have done / observed: g_serial and libcomposite modules are loaded: lsmod | grep g_serial g_serial 12288 0 libcomposite 49152 2 g_serial,usb_f_acm ConfigFS is mounted: mount | grep configfs configfs on /sys/kernel/config type configfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime) UDC exists: ls /sys/class/udc/ musb-hdrc.2.auto Gadget folder does…

  94. Hi, after some hours of not using the banana, it seems the system is dead. I cannot log in with a terminal. I cannot bring back the black screen to the console (i am using only the console) with a connected mouse and keyboard. All I can do is a reset. This is horrable, beccause the deamons in background should capture same data. Maybe is it an energie saver? How can I switch off them? Or how can I examine, what was happens? Thanx, Timbers

  95. Hi! Using Jessie, I made the mistake of running apt-get upgrade => and on the next reboot by R1 did not boot anymore. I can chroot into the image (using qemu-arm-static) but have absolutely no clue what went wrong: Checking my dpkg.log, I found that the kernel seems not have been updated? root@asterix:/var/log# grep 05-10.*linux dpkg.log 2016-05-10 18:22:02 upgrade linux-libc-dev:armhf 3.16.7-ckt20-1+deb8u3 3.16.7-ckt25-2 2016-05-10 18:22:02 status half-configured linux-libc-dev:armhf 3.16.7-ckt20-1+deb8u3 2016-05-10 18:22:02 status unpacked linux-libc-dev:armhf 3.16.7-ckt20-1+deb8u3 2016-05-10 18:22:02 status half-installed linux-libc-dev:armhf 3.16.7-…

  97. Let me start to express my gratitude for the wealth of information and software which is available here. I'm a longtime user of a usb 2.0 soundcard along with a laptop with KXStudio and Guitarix. I've used this setup many times for gigging and home recording and it proved to be stable. One of the downsides is the "voluminous" laptop. I've my soundcard mounted in a small 19" flightcase with one rack still open. For some years I've been thinking of making rack mountable effectprocessor from a board to substitute the laptop. So, to start this journey I've ordered a OPi PC (along with a good quality micro SD card!), of course not a heavyweight board, but my first…

  100. Hi, I've tested more than 10 pcs of Lime2 rev. G and those that I received from Olimex in last supply (Jan 2017) has strange behavior, all of them. It won't boot if HDMI connector is plugged in (tested with two different screens). There is only simple message in console repeated crazy fast "rb int error!". Googling returned only two links to source code I use latest version 2017.01-armbian (Feb 02 2017 - 02:40:37) - Armbian_5.25_Lime2_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113.img When I try older Armbian 2016.09-armbian (Sep 15 2016 - 03:51:47 +0200) everything is fine. What has changed? I attach the beginning and the end of the serial console output (workin…
