Hello, guys. I need help, don`t know what is going on. Yesterday two of my device`s (orange pi PC2) was rebooted by themselves. At different times, in separate areas. In log files I see fact of reboot but don`t see the reason. Temperature was in OK. Power adapter and micro SD card, which I use, in attachment. What should I pay attention? Can it be the reason is unattended upgrades or some armbian cron process? I have tested Armbian_19.11.3_Orangepipc2_bionic_current_5.3.9 and Armbian_19.11.3_Orangepipc2_buster_current_5.3.9 images from the official download site. The Debian Buster image is fast and stable. The Ubuntu Bionic build have random hangs on different boot positions. Sometimes works, but after reboot it hangs again randomly. I have burned the the images to the same microsd card. (Toshiba 32GB) I have tested with other microsd cards like Sandisk Extreme 32GB, Samsung EVO+ 32GB. I have the same results. The power supply is enough for the board. (5V 4A) This is not my first orangepi board, so I know how to burn the images to the sdcards. screenlog.bionic.0 (problems)…

I am running Armbian Focal with Linux 5.4.43-sunxi64 (and now downgraded to 4.19.125-sunxi64) on my Orange Pi PC 2. I use motion software to provide a "18ec:5555 Arkmicro Technologies Inc. USB2.0 PC CAMERA" to the network. I also use pjsip to provide SIP functionality for the same device as audio input. As soon as I start pjsip for some reason I get a very high load average until the kernel detectets stalled CPUs and finally the entire device crashes. This worked fine in a previous version and started after I upgraded to focal. I did a kernel backtrace and this is what I got: [ 401.002517] sysrq: Show backtrace of all active CPUs [ 401.009965] sysrq: CPU1: [ 401.01…

Hello folks, Based on the important amount of work you guys put in the H3 support and the great progress you've made, thank you for that, I am seriously considering buying an Orange Pi Plus (I need Gigabit Ethernet for my application). I need a server config with remote desktop via vnc, rootfs on SATA HDD, good ethernet performance, don't need Wifi, 24/7/365 operation. I just noticed there is two versions of the Orange Pi Plus, the "regular/original" with 1GB of memory and the "Plus 2" with 2GB of memory. Considering the price difference I am thinking of going with the "Plus 2", more memory never hurts, and I was wondering if I would encounter any issue using the …

Which system to install on Orange Pi Plus 2 ? http://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus/???

I am trying to switch legacy kernel to "next". I did it successfully with armbian-config for OrangePiPC (obviously Armbian was installed on SD card). Once I attempted to do the same with Orange Pi Plus and system installed onto internal EMMC then after reboot... nothing. I am wondering also if the issue is related to platform or the fact that Armbian was installed on EMMC. Hello, my opi+2 sometimes dies after long running times and becomes so hot that I cannot touch it. When I looked to logs, I saw kernel panic errors like, you know, tons of meanless numbers. I can provide any information you want. It's been few hours since I started it but here are logs. http://sprunge.us/jJSK Probably it had had 0.05 15 min load before it died. I couldn't see the message I saw before, probably they got removed from the system after few minutes. I'll send you newer logs after I get accurate errors again. This may take a week, or few days.

Hello, I bought an orange pi plus 2 and connected it to the power supply, the android that is already installed recognized the mouse and keyboard without any problem. I tried to boot the ARMbian using the version I was given, the orange pi plus 2e version, because there is no direct support for the orange pi plus 2. The BOOt works without any problem, but when I create the user, the system doesn't recognize my keyboard or mouse and I get stuck on the creating user screen. I'm using a 5V/3A power supply and a bluetooth mouse. Can anyone tell me if this is a kernel bug or am I using the wrong version to BOOT?

My newly received Orange PI Plus 2 gets stuck in a reboot loop, if I try to boot headless (no USB, no HDMI; UART is connected to see boot messages). Is such a problem known here? No cables connected except power supply and UART I tried various SD-Cards (8GB or 64GB SDHC) --> The Orange PI Plus 2 boots till USB initialization and then reboots (sometimes it freezes). …

Hi whoever can help. Just bought the Topic device. Very disappointed because of very poor docs and support. I cannot boot Armbian. There are must be something undocumented. Hi everybody, I need some help because I can't make my OPIPlus2e working the way I want. If I understood well I have to install latest armbian, and copy/past script.bin, but sometimes ethernet is not recognized. I tried every distros on my orangepi2e, but I can't install things like kodi (refuses to start, missing libs), or making work hfs drive (can't mount hfs although hfsprogs well installed). I ended up installing openelec and it works great, but I would like to do a NAS with it. Is it still in active development or there is working ISO ? Thank you very much. Best regards, Poukin

Hi, I've been playing around with a OPi Win+ which is aint bad but full support seems a while off ... I'm looking for a quad core, 2G, good wifi with external antenna and this seems to fit the requirements. I dont care too much about hdmi but if it works all the better. Can the internal wifi do AP mode and will it do dual modes ... hostapd-8188 will create wlan0 & wlan1 so that you both connect to an AP and be an AP. Hello, I've purchased a 2e recently, in order to replace a RPI3 with a more powerful device (and get graphics acceleration, be able to watch youtube videos, etc). I've tested multiple builds, and even on the legacy kernel, there is just no way to get it to work properly. The board, when it sits completely idle, is between 48 and 52°. And if I move a window on the desktop, it's all laggy and the cpu jumps to 60+° --the same with a mainlain image in fact, in headless mode... frequently the console would freeze for a couple seconds while the temperature is very high for no reason. It seems there is no hardware graphics acceleration, ever. Curr…

I'm trying to configure the RTL8189FTV module on an Orange Pi+ 2E in SoftAP + STA mode so I can use it as wifi hotspot. According to this old document from Realtek (http://www.ofeixin.com/downloadRepository/8da8dda7-6721-4ac8-a7db-47cc4d9b218c.pdf), it's possible to do so using an RTL8189ETV, so I'm assuming it's possible on the RTL8189FTV, too. The default driver doesn't allow concurrent connections like this, tho, so it must be recompiled. I downloaded the source recommended on the sunxi wiki (http://linux-sunxi.org/Wifi#RTL8189FTV): git clone https://github.com/jwrdegoede/rtl8189ES_linux.git cd rtl8189ES_linux git checkout -B rtl8189fs origin/rtl8189f…

Hi, I am building small file server. Is it possible to boot from mmc AND have data on sd card without the need of removing sd card on every reboot? I've installed armbian on smaller sd card, used nand-mmc-* script to write armbian onto mmc. Now, everytime I reboot I need to remove sd card, wait for system to load and put sd card back. I edited .fex file, setting sd card mode to 1, but it didn't helped. Any ideas/manuals on that? Thank you in advance.

Hi all, I am new to this forum. I just got a Orange Pi plus 2E. The specs are nice and the price is competitive. However, I don't seem to find an image with gpu working well. No hardware acceleration available. This means I cannot use chrome properly / watch videos / play web games with WebGL. From armbian website / logs: Mali OpenGL ES does not work on H3 boards with 2GB RAM (Orange Pi Plus 2, Orange Pi Plus 2e) Any idea when will the Mali driver work on 2GB RAM models? Hello. I just wanted to let you know about a possible bug I have found in the kernel installation script. I was using my OPi+2e with the default kernel, and today I installed next to test it, using armbian-config. Everything went fine, and seemed very stable overall (I didn'd use it for more than two or three hours, though). But then I wanted to revert to default, so I used armbian-config again. When I rebooted, the board started the u-boot sequence, but it got stuck on "Starting kernel". No other messages after that. I tried several times, with the same results. Since I have no logs, the only info I can give you is that I have an external USB HDD …

I received my new Orange Pi Plus 2e and tried to set it up. I already got an Orange Pi PC2 running so it's not really something new to me. I used the latest Armbian images (desktop and server), flashed them to my SD card (with Etcher) and plugged it into the Pi. The green LED lights up and the device seems to be working. I get no signal over the HDMI out and the LED keeps flashing. I flashed the SD card three times to make sure it's not a flashing error. I tried the desktop image twice and the server image once. It always ends wit…

Just FYI: Orange Pi Plus 2E is now available for $35 and shipping costs remain the same (pretty low compared to some competitors): http://aliexpress.com/store/product/Orange-Pi-Plus-2-E-H3-Quad-Core-1-6GHZ-2GB-RAM-4K-Open-source-development/1553371_32665196281.html Please remember that this board was designed based on community requests (dropping the slow GL830 USB-to-SATA bridge and the internal USB hub and exposing all 4 USB ports physically to the outside) and should make up for a really nice server with 2 GB DRAM, Gbit Ethernet and 4 USB ports (3 real hosts ports and one Micro OTG). Hi, I installed armbian onto eMMC. Frankly, I expected better results. Please anybody confirm what I understood. 1. The sequence reading speed is 70MBytes/s. 2. The sequence writing speed is 10MBytes/s. 3. eMMC is not optimized for random operations. 4. When writing operation is performed, the system gets VERY SLOW to respond. And the couple of questions. 1. What utility and where to get to benchmark disks well? 2. Will USB SSD perform with better performance than eMCC? Thanks a lot in advance and hope to see this in the FAQ. Dmitry

Hi everyone, First of allm thank you for all the stuff on your site / forum, I recently decided to give a try to an orange pi board, and chose the orange pi plus. I have downloaded and installed the raw file of jessie desktop found on the site, and then tried to launch it. At the first startup, I had a message about my ethernet connector, gmac probed... no PHY... and then the process continue, the card shut down. I unplug/plug in the power supply, and then the board correctly boot up, and I was able to log in. The wifi is working fine (I use it now), but I don't have the ethernet connection. The ethernet cable is plug in, my ISP's router has a DHCP server…

Hi there, I am new here, and new to Armbian I have a Orange Pi Plus2 and I am trying to make a project to present Spotify as an iPod over USB, so that it can be used in vehicles / docks that support iPod connectivity via USB Some of this work has already been done here on the iPod USB gadget driver side https://github.com/oandrew/ipod-gadget Using the standard premade armbian builds I cannot compile the source code as the headers are missing. Therefore I compiled Armbian from source using INSTALL-HEADERS=yes, mainline Jessie. As there is no option for the Orange Pi Plus2 board, I used the Orange Pi plus config instead. …

Hi and sorry for this questions. I buy this board, and now i need an working image with wifi. thanks for an answer.

Firstly many thanks to all the hard work from the Armbian developers - it installed onto the eMMC of my new Orange Pi Plus2E first time with no problems I'm trying to benchmark the board (with a fan/heatsink) and without. The standard Armbian runs it at a maximum of 1.296GHz but I'd like to run it faster. I'm new to using fex, but this appears to push it up to 1.536GHz with a Vdd of 1.5V: cd bin2fex /boot/bin/orangepiplus2e.bin orangepiplus2e.heatsink.fex sed -i "s/1296000/1536000/g; s/1320/1500/" orangepiplus2e.heatsink.fex cp /etc/default/cpufrequtils /etc/default/cpufrequtils~ sed -i "s/1296000/1536000/" /etc/default/cpufrequtils fex2bin orangepiplus2e.heatsink.…

This is with standard Armbian Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.112-sun8i at the stock 1.296GHz CPU speed, and there is a fan+heatsink to stop overheating. Hi all. I recently bought an Orange Pi Lite. After trying to get the power switch to work as a power switch (by this I mean booting the board when it was previously shutdown), and after searching for a while, it seems that the power switch in the Orange Pi Lite is not a real one, but it's instead connected to a GPIO. Do you guys know of any Orange Pi board that implements a proper power switch? Thanks.

Hello, I'm trying the currently offered Armbian Bookworm images for the Orange Pi Prime, using kernels 6.1.30 and 6.2.16, and notice that there is no support for SoC temperature monitoring, neither in armbianmonitor, nor in /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/. Here is the debug info from 6.2.16: https://paste.armbian.com/cetovulubu Is that a known issue? An older Armbian image that I have downloaded previously, using the kernel 5.15.93, shows the temperature just fine.

When i first tried out my orange pi prime in october 2020 i thought i recalled that the wifi worked. With a current armbian image, the wifi can't authenticate. I tried several of the available kernel images. I'm sure that the wpa2 password is correct because I control the router and other devices connect all the time. If i plug in an ath9x usb wifi dongle, that is able to connect, so it would appear to be an issue with the onboard rtl8723bs driver.

Hi everyone. I got a Orange Pi Prime (OPi Prime). It works ok with "official" debian and ubuntu images from Xulong (xulong web site). When I try to use Armbian 5.33 stable, I got some text into HDMI screen until the words "loading kernel", then nothing is shown on monitor; but through TTL port I can login as root. That behaviour is repeated wheter using Ubuntu (desktop or server), Debian (desktop or server). With Legacy kernel (3.x) the same card worked in the past, but the image is not available anymore. I'm attaching the output from TTL console: Spoiler CPU: Allwinner H5 (SUN50I) Model: OrangePi Prime…

My Orange Pi Prime freezes when compiling anything major (Ruby, CPython). It completely locks up halfway through. No error or kernel panic from serial either. HDMI output goes black. Tried my Lab Bench Power Supply at 5.00, 5.10, 5.20 and 5.35 volt, volt drop is about 0.1 volt measured at the board, and power usage at 400-700mA depending on the load. Hi! Could you please clarify, is there a way to increase default limitations for max cpu freq (H5) on Orange Pi Prime? As i understand, according to driver (cpufreq-dt): /etc/default/cpufrequtils is a bit less restrictive: Is this a driver limitation ? Or there is a way to increase cpu-freq, but it's not used by default ? ( ... and why, if it is so ?)

(picture courtesy @renaudrenaud) We spotted a new OPi Zero variant with one USB-A receptacle missing and replaced by a second RJ45 jack a while ago (in this report where a lot of 'information' seems a bit questionable to me) Today @Icenowy confirmed existence of this board since Xunlong announced it in a chat group. I believe this is somewhat related to recently available Orange Pi Zero Plus since by looking at the picture we can see behind both Ethernet MagJacks small packages. My bet is we're talking here about RTL8211E (Gigabit Ethernet PHY connected via RGMII to the SoC) and RTL8153 (Gigabit Ethernet MAC/PHY USB2 Hi-Speed attached to the SoC). …

Hello All, I have configured OrangePiR1 as router. There are three network interfaces, two as wired and one wifi(hotspot). eth0 serve for access to internet(via ppp/adsl) and eth1+Wlan0 for internal network. Interfaces eth1 and wlan0 are in bridge br0. Problem is, that interface eth1 sometimes loses connection/link(cable and switch were checked ). Next nonstandard behavior of eth1 is, that only yellow led control is blinking, while green led control is not alight. Network interfaces were configured via file /etc/network/interfaces. However, when I checked network manager nmcli, I saw, that some connections are configured there too (there can …

Hi all, I'm new to this forum, but I frequent the LinusTechTips forum a lot, some of you may recognize it. Any way, my issue is with my Orange Pi R1. I've tried both Ubuntu Server and Debian server images and I can't seem to get either to work. I'm using a good OEM Samsung wall wart that can supply up to 2 amps, and I'm using a 32GB Sandisk microSD I pulled from a working Raspberry Pi 2. With the Ubuntu Server image I can get in on the first boot and make a new user, but once it reboots to expand the filesystem it seems like it'm outta luck. I assume the red LED flashes when the kernel is running as normal, and after the first reboot the red LED never flashes, I can'…

Hello folks! I'm investigating an odd issue of the OPi R1 board, with the image Armbian_5.83_Orangepi-r1_Debian_stretch_next_4.19.38. With this version of software the board works fine, but apparently the wifi cannot reconnect after a disconnection (error: association request to the driver failed) The only workaround I found is to manually bring down the wifi interface and then back up; then the reconnect is almost immediate. I tried to disable the NetworkManager and now I'm using /etc/network/interfaces file to handle the connections but the problem still persists. I checked the issue with another R1 board and so I can exclude that the boa…

If I connect by cable I can ssh to it via ethernet without any issue and it stays available for several days without disconnecting. Any idea why this happens? when Wifi disconnects I will have to reboot to show it again. And I am not running any program on it. Well, the title is self explanatory. I am trying the new stable release for the Orange PI win from armbian (thank you guys!) but when booting for the first time in headless mode via SSH through Ethernet cable it gets stuck at "Enter new UNIX password". I put the new password and nothing happens. If I unplug the cable to force the SSH server to close the connection and then I plug it back again, the password is kept the old one (default 1234) and the problem repeats. After some tests I finally got to change the password, but it gets stuck after, or even before sometimes if I reboot. It seems that the SSH tunnel is simply not stable. I should mention that the configura…

Hi guys, I've been busting my head for days now trying to find a way how to permanently change MAC address on my ehternet on Opi Win Plus boards but nothing yielded positive outcome. Hi everyone, I am experiencing a persistent boot issue with my Orange Pi Win Plus running Armbian, used as a headless server. The Problem: Whenever the board suffers a power loss (unplugged) or I issue a system reboot, it fails to start automatically. The power LED stays on, but the system/network never comes up. To get it to boot, I have to go through a frustrating manual routine: manually holding/pressing the power button, sometimes plugging/unplugging the HDMI cable, and repeating this process a couple of times before it finally kicks in. What I have already checked/ruled out: Power supply is NOT the issue: I have tested multiple different power ada…
