I am a long-time Linux user, who casually and confidently and regularly uses the software 'Update Manager' in Linux Mint to keep my software up-to-date. I also have no problem using 'apt update' to update specific software packages. What I am more careful about is ever using 'apt upgrade' and 'apt dist-upgrade' -- almost never doing so. What advise is there for updating the software on my Armbian Orange Pi PCs? darren@frodo10:~$ sudo apt list --upgradable Listing... Hello everyone, I am encountering problem with pulseaudio on Bananapi M1. I don't want the board to suspend speakers on idle. As Pulseaudio is used I simply commented this line: ``` ### Automatically suspend sinks/sources that become idle for too long #load-module module-suspend-on-idle `` in `/etc/pulse/default.pa`. The problem is that if I play something e.g. raspotify I dont hear the sound anymore. As soon I keep raspotify playing and restart Pulseaudio (killall pulseaudio) the sound is back again. If I pause music I lose sound again and need to kill pulseaudio. Does anybody encounter same thing?

I'm connected to my Orange PI Zero over serial. I have a WiFi connection configured in NetworkManager on the Zero to my home AP/gateway, and it can connect to the internet over it. However: the Zero does NOT reply to ARP requests. I have tried running wireshark on multiple other machines on the same LAN, both wired and wireless, i have run tcpdump on the router, and none of them have EVER seen an ARP reply coming from the Zero. Obviously this means that no machine on the network can discover the MAC address of the Zero, and cannot connect to it... unless... the Zero first connects out. once the Zero has sent a packet to a machine, the machine will …

Hi everyone, I have a problem when work on OPi zero wifi which is running Armbian linux sunxi 4.19.62. I used nmtui to configure wifi connection with static ip. It works fine even rebooting or re-powering up however I tried to power off the router and the result is it has never reconnected again. Next, I plugged in the ethernet cable into RJ45 port, the connection is established. I use sudo ifconfig to show the information, I saw that both the wifi (static) and ethernet are correctly then I can access via ssh or scanning the ip. One again, I continued plugging out the ethernet cable, all connections were disappeared even wifi and connection via ssh is failed. …

Hello, I'm a new Armbian user of my first OrangePI One H3 board after much time spent on rpi boards. I was curious to see how these boards run and I bought one. I'm using a fast 32GB A2 microsd, an external 4 USB externally powered hub, an HDMI to VGA converter with audio out. I was deciding at first which o.s. to use cause I've seen there're also Ubuntu and Debian official 5.x kernel based images on their page but I tried this at first. I've installed usual applications browsers office apps mail etc, and now I'd like to make some questions to better understand some things: 1) I know being on the armbian forum I'd expect everyone to prefer thi…

Hi, I would like to ask you guys if you have any experience in deploying a Hadoop Cluster on cubieboard2. I am using Debian jessie 4.1.4 and I am having a lot of trouble doing it. The problem is with the ports, they are not opening when I start the hadoop daemons, so my question is: Is it even possible to deploy hadoop on Debian Jessie 4.1.4? I have tried everything. Fresh install, deploy a configured hadoop cluster that was working on ubuntu 14.04 LTS, forcing the ports to open which took me to an unsolvable error( related to Protocol Buffers ), but the main problem is the ports not opening, giving the Connection Refused error. Please share your knowledge…

Hi, yesterday I used the latest mainline built (https://dl.armbian.com/lime2/Debian_jessie_next.7z) on Olimex Lime2-emmc 4 GB but i can not access the eMMC. I only tested once with the latest mainline built. I have read other old topics about patching uboot but I wonder if I really need to patch uboot or if this a problem (bug?) with the latest built. Is there any .deb file available with the patched uboot? Thank you

Hello, I'm buliding a music player for my old car using Orange Pi PC Plus. I would like to use external incoming logic levels (3.3V / 0V) to wake up the OPi from suspend state. Could you help me how to do that? Waking up using the HW button SW4 is working perfectly. I need to do this using external logic signal connected to PA11 / GPIO pin #5. I tried the following setting in fex editor: [gpio_power_key] key_used = 1 key_io = port:PA11<6><default><default><0> It doesn't work. I keep the pin on HIGH (3.3V) normally, and when I bring it to LOW state, OPi won't wake up. I tried also ch…

About 3 months ago i bought the Orange PI Zero Plus Orange Pi Zero Plus I installed Armbian Stretch and started playing around. I noticed that it got up to 71c which was to much so i shut it down and went on the net to buy some 5v fans to cool it. A month ago I received the first fans and noticed now that Armbian Buster had arrived. Since I hadn't gotten far with the config of Armbian Stretch I started on a new image. But to my disappointment the ARM processor is now clocked to 1008Mhz and not the 1.2Ghz the device is set to by manufacturer. I can guess that it is because of the heat problem that it is now set to…

Hi all, Successfully Installed Armbian_20.02.1_Nanopineo2black_buster_current_5.4.20.img on a NanoPi Neo2 Black using an SD Card. The board is fitted with a 16GB eMMC card via the optional adapter. Ran apt-update && apt-upgrade && armbian-config (“Install” “Install to/update boot loader” -> Install/Update the bootloader on SD/eMMC" - that was the only option available.) Proceeded with 'nand-sata-install' only to be presented with the same 'Install/Update the bootloader on SD/eMMC' and nothing else. Poked about, no mention of the eMMC card during boot (via dmesg) and no '/dev/mmbblk1' - which I thought mig…

Hi. I'm using "Orangepi-r1_focal_current_5.8.5" Armbian. I'm connected to it via Wifi. Everything working fine, but after few hours, I notice that it is no longer showing on my network. If I connect by cable I can ssh to it via ethernet without any issue and it stays available for several days without disconnecting. Any idea why this happens? when Wifi disconnects I will have to reboot to show it again. And I am not running any program on it. Is orange pi r1 wifi like orange pi zero wifi suffering from poor software support?

Hello, I'm trying the currently offered Armbian Bookworm images for the Orange Pi Prime, using kernels 6.1.30 and 6.2.16, and notice that there is no support for SoC temperature monitoring, neither in armbianmonitor, nor in /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/. Here is the debug info from 6.2.16: https://paste.armbian.com/cetovulubu Is that a known issue? An older Armbian image that I have downloaded previously, using the kernel 5.15.93, shows the temperature just fine.

I would like to remove "everything" from the installation, which I don’t need, with the goal to minimize the footprint. I tried to remove some of them, like… ubuntustudio-videoubuntustudio-photography ubuntustudio-graphics mail-server ubuntu-gnome-desktop ... I can imagine to remove all CD installation and images as well... …but my problem is that if I for example remove “ubuntu-gnome-desktopâ€, the OPI Zero is not answering on ssh request any more. Hi, I would like to replace my Raspberry Pi 3 with an external USB where I have Gentoo Linux system to Cubietruck with Debian mainkernel in a SATA 2.5" HDD. I have some noob questions: - I want to boot from SD card and system on SATA configuration. Can I make boot partition on SD card only-read? I want to avoid SD card filesystem corruption because of my bad experience with RPi. - Is enough powerful to run Nextcloud? Just for two users. - Is enough a 2A / 5V USB powersource (connect to Jack power connector)?

SBC is banana pi M1 I tried the banana pi at church today, things went great as for the Libreoffice impress presentations but it was hard to navigate to menus because the banana's resolution was set to 1920X1080p. Everything was too small in the projector, we need something like 1280X1024 or 800X600. I tried `a10disp changehdmimodeforce 4` to change it to 720P, on the projector but display became unstable and I had to reboot to get it back. We have two modes for projector, VGA (HDMI->VGA converter cable) or plain HDMI. Today I tried the VGA but we can also do HDMI. Please help. Thanks.

Hello, at first I want to thank you for your great work Igor 2 Days ago I installed the new version 5.00 Vanilla Kernel armbian for BananaPro on my SD card. And I was so glad to finally see a working wifi for BananaPro with mainline kernel. Today I did an apt-get update and apt-get upgrade. Ever since there is no more a wlan0 interface. Have tried ifconfig and iwconfig. It seems to be, that there was installed a new kernel image. What can we do to get it working again? Also ReleaseHistory says there is a version 5.01 but the download link for BananaPro Vanilla Jessie still leads to a version 5.00 link. Kind regards Wolf

hi, i would like to make videos with a orange pi as basis and would like to start with this camera: which came with my pi. thought it would run out of the box...but it doesnt after looking trough the forums it is obvious that camera support seems to be quite problematic but i found this thread: where at the end the user: IgZero says that he got some camera (maybe not mine) working with 5.20 and then updating it to the current version. but he does not say if he started with a debian or ubuntu based source.... any ideas on how to get this camera going? im also willing to flash another, even older versi…

Today I updated my BananaPI M1 board, replaced the Bananian OS with Armbian Armbian_20.05.4_Bananapi_focal_current_5.4.45.img. I'm not getting the SATA with connected 1TB WD10JFCX working. The HD worked before with the Bananien kernel 3.4.x What can I do, how can I test, how can i get more information about the reason? The board is powered via the Micro USB and armbianmonitor reports DC-IN voltage > 5V

Dear maintainers, I have my sensors configured to reboot every night via a user cronjob (0 0 * * * /sbin/reboot), 14 sensors do this without a problem. I've fixed the nanopi neo+2 reboot from NAND some months ago (by re-using friendlyarm first stage u-boot). I just stumbled upon a failed reboot with one of my nanopi neo+2 nodes, after two successful reboots. Looking at the /var/log.hdd/syslog, it got stuck in the shutdown procedure when the watchdog reported a failure. The /var/log.hdd/syslog.1 extracts below show the start of the watchdog, and the stop of the watchdog and its failure. After the failure the system doesn't come up anymore, it needed a pow…

Hi all, yeterday i connected a lipo battery to my cb2, made some stuff and then shut down. Today i've found my battery totally discharged so I started investigating. I've found that even if the system is shutdown i can measure about 4.5V on ipsout. I verified also the same situation on my second cb2. Searching on the web i've found this post. Any of you could confirm, please?

Hi, I'm Rosario and I'm a new Armbian follower. I liked it. After months using my OPI Plus2 with Ubuntu Jessie Loboris image (and installed it also on emmc) I decided to install Armbian. Hello all, I'm going to preface by saying that I am not experienced with Pi, Pi clones, or linux, but I know how to google stuff until my fingers bleed and can navigate around a terminal window well enough. Hi, Got an issue with some long latency/buffer on OrangePiPC. Legacy built kernel with RT (Armbian 5.32). The default output, Audiocodec Analog Stereo, exhibits a latency of about 500ms or somewhere there, it is actually a delayed play. Other outputs do not have such latency, eg if I connect a USB audio device, it is just fine with only a few ms of latency. If it was a generic setting that would have impact on the USB audio too, but it is not, USB audio plays without excessive latency. Tried to set as low as I could the default-fragments (=8) and default-fragment-size-msec (=3) in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf to have 24msec of buffer but to no a…

I just installed Armbian 5.30 Desktop to my Orange PI Plus 2E I want to use for video playback, but built in MPV player. MKV videos quality is good, but the player has very poor functionality. And it plays Xvid Encoded AVI files totally mess way with lots of artifacts, sometimes with colored stripes instead of video stream. I also tried SMPlayer and VLC, but they play some MKV files with green artifacts and AVIs are totally mess. I tried different settings for VLC but have not reached success with the settings. So what video player is universal and good for Armbian ro what settings should I set to get good video quality?

I've a problem with latest Armbian Debian Server stretch (ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.18-sunxi, Uboot loader 2017.11) on OrangePI One, and OrangePI PC. It boots seemingly OK, but without any output to 1080P HDMI monitor. So I've no video. But Ubuntu Desktop with Legacy kernel boots fine using the same SDCard (and same power supply ). I can SSH to the Debian after boot, here's the boot and diag log. Couldn't wait for senseless SDCard testing to finish, as it works perfect with Armbian Ubuntu Desktop version. Legacy version on 1st boot shown boot progress and defaulted to 720P resolution, which I changed later to 1080P. But Debian Server doesn't sh…

OrangePi PC Armbian 5.35 with LXDE desktop Firefox 57.0.1 I haven't done anything with my OPi for 6 months, so when I tried it again, it booted normally except for not looking quite right on my big HDMI screen. Hi there, I was expecting /etc/machine-id to be unique for every install, but it is static which was very unexpected (I use it as the basis of machine-specific identifier which should have been globally unique). fixing it up was easy enough: rm -f /etc/machine-id rm -f /var/lib/dbus/machine-id dbus-uuidgen --ensure systemd-machine-id-setup Shouldn't this be done when the root fs is being resized on the first boot?

Hi! I didn't find much info in the forum on how to correctly apply RT patch to the Armbian (Orange Pi Zero Plus H5 board). Here is how I did: Built Armbian as follows: 1) I downloaded patch-5.4.22-rt13.patch from https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/rt/5.4/ and placed into ~/build/userpatches/kernel/sunxi-current ( I saw from the logs that this is the folder for the builder to search for user patches in my case) 2) Started ./compile.sh --> FULL OS image for flashing --> Show a kernel configuration menu before compilation --> orangepizeroplus (H5) as target board --> current (recommended , which is 5.4.23…

Hello. I reactivated my old BananaPi M1 to measure some Temperatures by Dalla1820-Sensors. This is working like a charm and I could resolve all the Problems I had. Every Time i try to setup a Pin by sudo echo (Pin-number) > /sys/class/gpio/export I get the message, that I don't have the rights to do this. Could it be, that the GPIO are not usable, when I activated 1wire ? (of course I used a different Pin as I use for 1wire) Or must I activate some more options as only "w1-gpio" in the armbian…

Hello, I'm using Armbian 5.20 on my Orange Pi. Everything is working as it should except for the subtitles in MPV. I already upgraded to a newer version of MPV VDPAU which makes no difference so i went back to the orignal MPV and VDPAU. The problem is that at intermittent times the subtiles display over each other. It seems that the first subtitle which should have been gone according to the srt is still being displayed under the newly displayed subtitle. Have anyone encountered this problen and is there a solution to this problem?

Hi everyone, I have an orange pi pc+ (also a orange pi one) and i'm trying to use one of them as a wifi-wifi router. I've been able to do it work several times, with different wifi dongles, armbian versions (both debian and ubuntu legacy and mainline) but I always get low wifi speed in the AP interface. The problem is that the AP network through the orange pi always gives me around 30-10% of the full internet connection. That is, if my connection gives me 1.5mb/s, the client interface at orange pi gives around 1.5mb/s but at the AP interface is only 200-500 kb/s. I'm going to show here the last configuration I've tried. I would like to achieve a "decent" wifi…

From Zadors reply to I learned there is a Video Engine for Video, Mali for 3d and a Display Engine for 2d. I used an old version of armbian on OPi PC (h3disp had no 4k option) . Moving desktop windows was very fast. In current desktop release legacy 3.4.113 moving large windows is very slow. So I guess Display Engine is not working correctly. How can I determine if it works?
