Hello, I am new to orange PIs and got a "OPi PC plus" a few weeks ago. After some research I found out, that armbian ist the best OS for me In the past I tried with effort to set up a 3G / Lan / WIFI Router with USB / Samba share to have mobile network and files. It works like a charm, outer that I can not get more than 72.2 mbps to my wifi clients. Today I had many time to search and first result is, that the neighbor scan will reduce to 20MHz channels because of detected overlapping APs. With a patched version of hostapd you should be able to set 40MHz channels by overriding the scan. Infos here: https://www.brunsware.de/blog/gentoo/hostapd-40…

Hello: First, thank you for all your incredible work in armbian. It is really great what you've done so far. And future looks even better. I come here to try to solve a problem that I have with a cheap usb wifi dongle. The dongle usb identifier is: Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0bda:8176 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188CUS 802.11n WLAN Adapter With armbian 5.14 (and a fresh install image), I followed the instruction here https://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1237-tutorial-opi-one-wireless-success/ to let it work, without problems. Nice tutorial. My problems began when I was trying to use the same dongle with a fresh installed armbian 5.20. The dongle is not auto…

Hello! I'm trying to get SPI working with Armbian on Cubietruck. Armbian 5.20 Debian Jessie I edited fex, enabled spi as here https://linux-sunxi.org/SPIdev#Configuring_your_FEXbut no spidev device appeared. I have no device tree file in /boot/. Here https://docs.armbian.com/Hardware_Allwinner-A20/is mentioned SPI ready and tested with ILI9341 based 2.4″ TFT LCD displayAs I understand the SPI driver is already in Armbian kernel but to enable spidev I need to do something else? Can anyone explain how to enable SPI on Cubietruck?

Hello Folks, sorry for popping up here with a technical problem first thing - but I have some trouble. I have a circuit where an attenuator is connected to PA19. Sadly, the port seems to have a pull up which stays active even when I use wiringPi to set the port to input - in fact, even if I short the pin to low via my Keithley ammeter, it still shows up as high. Re things which I already tried: I tried to reduce the fex file to look like this: [product] version = "100" machine = "orangepi-lite" [platform] debug_mode = 1 eraseflag = 1 next_work = 2 [target] boot_clock = 1008 storage_type = -1 [key_detect_en] keyen_flag = 0 [fel_key] fel_key_max = 7 fel_key_m…

I have been running Armbian_5.14_Orangepipc_Ubuntu_xenial_3.4.112 that has been upgraded to the 4.7.3 kernel via apt. Yesterday I allowed it to update to 4.8.3 and it won't boot anymore. Any ideas? I have reverted to the 4.7.3 kernel from a backup and it works again. Hi all, I'm new here, and first of all I want to greet you. Last week I got a brand new Banana PI M2+, and tried to install the latest armbian Image on SD card. So far so good, but the M2+ is not booting from SD card. Except I short press the uBoot button followed by the reset button. This means I only get the board booted after a power cycle, if I press the uBoot button before. Then I tried to boot the board from NAND, but it is the same. It only boots from NAND, if I press the uBoot button before. (Installed to NAND before, of course) To verfy that I do not have any hardware issue, I downloaded a original Banana PI M2+ Image from the Banana-pi…

Hi, I tryied a few times to run a RT kernel I built from https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib as discribed in Armbian documentation and as in https://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1950-orange-pi-pc-plus-armbian-guitarix-guitar-effectprocessor/page-2#entry16460. When executing compile.sh script it patch nice and good, then asks for Preemption Model and I chose 5 for Full Realtime. But when running the kernel into OrangePi it stucks in Starting Kernel. U-boot output: I am not choosing 1-4 for preemption model because I don't know if it will end up as an realtime kernel. The update from the older kernel to the rt one was done by dpkg -i on the deb files from the…

Hi guys, I'm trying to solve a very specific problem in our company and after reading several tutorials I'm still not sure, how to achieve my goal. It would nice, if anyone can share his code or help me, however I will also to try to finish it and post the solution here. Idea/Issue: We've upgraded a very old cutting machine with plasma cutter, however there is only a USB port on the device, therefore our colleagues have to go several times per day from office to workshop and swap flashdrives. Thanks to size of our plant this isn't very good solution. Idea is to take Orange Pi One and connect it to the machine through OTG port, therefore it will act as Flashdrive. Th…

Hi I have a suggestion to modify update-mot.d script 30-sysinfo. Hi all, I am new to this forum. I just got a Orange Pi plus 2E. The specs are nice and the price is competitive. However, I don't seem to find an image with gpu working well. No hardware acceleration available. This means I cannot use chrome properly / watch videos / play web games with WebGL. From armbian website / logs: Mali OpenGL ES does not work on H3 boards with 2GB RAM (Orange Pi Plus 2, Orange Pi Plus 2e) Any idea when will the Mali driver work on 2GB RAM models? The OPi is nowhere near usable right now. Thanks!

First time poster, hopefully I'll get along with all of you! I am currently trying to connect a DS18(b)20 cable to my Banana Pi M2+, which is running Jessie Desktop. I connected the 3,3 V to Pin 1, GND to Pin 6 and Data to Pin 7, as well as the recommended 4,7k Ohm resistor between them. Since, as I should have mentioned, I am an absolute beginner (literally just got into this a few days ago), I used a German tutorial for this, which told me to enter the following into my command module: After which my /sys/bus folder shows a "w1" folder, which it does. However, the cable itself cannot be found. After some tinkering, I found that w1-therm does not seem…

Hi, So far was working with headless Armbian images. Now I need to attach an HDMI monitor to my OPi ONE. Generated a desktop Armbian 5.24 jessie kernel 3.4.113, attached the HDMI monitor and booted. I saw the inital seconds of U-Boot logging the discovery of the monitor and a few other things and then it went blank. I guess after some reading in the forum that there is no display manager included in the distro or is there some other problem? Is there some build option that we could include a manager (eg KDE/XFCE/etc) in the image generation proccess? Or if there is any guide that gives steps for adding a display manager in Armbian to a not-so-knowledgab…

Hi everyone, i've been building a new distirbution based on armbian 5.2 server, on it has been compilled freepbx 13 and asterisk 13, i've added a webmin frontend for server management. It's my first apportation, i'm not a pro, but i wanted to share it with the community. The password for root is: "Armbian" The password for the user admin on freepbx is: "admin" In order to mount the image you need at least a 8gb sd card Here is the link to the download: https://mega.nz/#!eZ1gCKKY!UguIUAi-xa6K6iXXj37EZPFedgzCPdnSEQDBuoT3xRo (remember this image is for orange pi plus)* Finally, if you want to resize the partition toget all the space available on your…

I have been trying to get USB OTG to work for the past few days, but have not succeeded. I have enabled all of the appropriate kernel settings according to this. I modprobed sunxi and g_ether, but my laptop did not detect the Orange Pi (no change in lsusb). My laptop runs Arch Linux, if that matters (the image was built on a Xenial VM though). There is no dmesg output about this, so I do not know what I did wrong. The reason I need the dev kernel is because I am using docker.

Hi, Are there any news on if Armbian will be on the new H5 64bit board? Orange released an Android SDK and an Android image but I guess everyone is waiting for a decent 64bit Debian. Since took the plunge and got into the H5 wagon ordering one, I looked at the released info and obviously there was nothing I could use myself.. So the question goes to the Armbian gurus, guys do you think that there could be an Armbian release for H5 this year? Christos

Hey, after making sure that all packages are current (armbianmobitor upload available at http://sprunge.us/Migh)I still have the problem currently that my three cubietruicks freeze after working 1-3 days. Mostly they are still ping-able, but no "heartbeat led blinking" happens anymore and SSH connect also not possible. The logs simply say nothing. Is there anything knows with uboot 5.23 in case ob unstability? The last uboot I remember that was quite stable was 5.20 ... Can I simply downgrade to that using sudo apt-get install linux-u-boot-cubietruck-next=5.20 or such? Thanks for an advice... Ingo Fischer

Hi, I have installed armbian 5.23 on an olimex A10 lime. After boot I find that the i2c devices on the UEXT interface do not show in /dev. They should be /dev/i2c-2 and /dev/i2c-3 and should be detectable using i2cdetect -y 2 (or 3). I notice that the package linux-jessie-root-lime-a10_5.23_armhf.deb ships the .bin (fex) files that configure the ports on boot. The file /boot/bin/lime-a10.bin and /boot/bin/lime-a10-lcd.bin have definitions for these ports but they are disabled. So for now I make a new .bin file with these ports enabled. Specifically I had to change the file like this (I made a new copy so that apt-get upgrade would not clobber my changes)…

I've posted this on the Orange Pi subreddit here: https://redd.it/5bqnghbut figured a more active community might be better. I am using my Orange Pi Ones for SETI@Home, I also use Raspberry Pis for the same purpose. I've noticed since, around, Armbian 5.20 that SETI@Home(BOINC) won't stay running for any more than 6-12 hours. It's being sniped by Out of Memory. I've tried a few things, posted on the subreddit, but here is the short list: Logged Memory ---> Can dip below 100MB during usage but not often Enabled Swap/Increase Swappiness---> 0 to 10 (I don't care about SD Card life) Adjusted BOINC/SETI to use 75% memory None of the above seems to have helped. The…

Maybe this is a faq. After installing and upgrading armbian to 5.23 on A10-Lime, if I leave serial console attached and Ethernet Cable attached, booting process hangs at: Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel. while if I'm using serial console alone or Ethernet Cable alone, the booting process is fine. Hey there, after quite a while laying around in a box my Cubietruck finally came to life again. I downloaded the latest Xenial Vanilla Server from http://www.armbian.com/cubietruck/and set it all up. So far I'm quite happy having Wifi running. Though there are a few questions left. - I chose vanilla as i'm going to use the cubietruck headless and don't need video accel. It will be part of a 3d printer. Do I have any chance to get NAND support running? I guess not so I wonder if it's a good idea to keep running from a micro sd card or will I run into problems? I don't need really big I/O Action so performance wise I should be okay. - I see some brcmfmac error …

I am experiencing serious problems with booting Armbian on OrangePi Lite. I flashed SD card with a fresh image of Armbian_5.20_Orangepilite_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.img At the first boot it always freezes right after this line: Started WPA supplicant. It stays there forever and I have no choice but power off the system. At each subsequent boot the system freezes very frequently but at different lines so again I need to reset it. However sometimes it succeeds at the second boot and I am able to login as root and then create new user and enter the desktop after that. I was very happy that it finally started and everything was working fine (inc…

Hello All, m new to this forum and new to armbian. Probably someone can help me. Im trying to get an 64GB flash drive working on a Opi+ 2E. Using the eMMC storage for boot and the flash drive as "the hard disk". nand-sata-install gives me the option to install this combo but at the end the system boots in an infinite loop telling me something is missing on the USB drive. Installing to boot / root eMMC works like a charm. I mounted the USB on another linux system and the drive looks good. ext4 and a root filesystem as expected. Am i missing something? How to get the eMMC boot, USB root option up and running? OS: Armbian 5.20 (jessie server), updated / up…

Hi, i have managed to install a wiring Pi version for my Orange Pi lite following this tutorial: https://gist.github.com/lanefu/f16a67195c9fa35c466c6b50cdaeadea The basic examples with inputs and outputs are working fine. Since I want to use a rotary encoder and not loose any steps I want to use a interrupt driven callback. There is an example as well but that does not work. I get: wiringPiISR: unable to open /sys/class/gpio/gpio25/value: No such file or directory I also tried several other libraries but non was working. Has anybody managed to get GPIO interrupt based callbacks working with python an an Oragnge Pi ?

Hello, I have the LIME2 board from Olimex (A20 SoC). I tried writing the image Armbian_5.20_Lime2_Debian_jessie_4.7.3_desktop to an SD card with dd. However, nothing happens when I plug in power (except that a red light near the barrel jack connector turns on). I tried pressing some of the switches (reset, power) but they didn't do anything either. This is the second LIME2 board I have received that just won't turn on. I have also tried with the images recommended by Olimex, to no avail. Is there something special that needs to be done that I'm missing?

Well a little info, I've been using my orangepi one with an SDR dongle to track airplanes with flightradar24 for the last few months. My intentions were to use a POE adapter and run the board outside near the antenna at one point. I have now received the final parts and went to move it today. So previously my setup was: Router -> switch -> long ethernet to shop -> swtich -> orangepione now I want to run it: Router -> switch -> long ethernet to outside -> orangepione But for some reason…

Hi Guys, I installed armbian on an SD Card and the installed it to the eMMC. Which all worked fine. After a bit of tinkering, it would no longer boot (no ssh access) and when I insert the original sd card now it wont boot from that either. Sorry to ask that, i know there are tons of powerconsumption-discuss an optimization, and tewaking but i got lost. I just need to know how much Ampere a Nanopi NEO drains on fullload (4Cores), connnected with ethernet, no additional USB Hardware in default (no special h3consumtion). Especially boooting (i think armbian is throtteling on boot right?) is also very interessting. I need to buy a Powersupply which is sufficient for 15 NanoPi Boards in min and max consumption. Got very confused in reading the threads... But it seems 5V/2A is just a "be save in every situation" thing, and i think there is a "window" of throtttled booting and full-load 4 Core... So would…

I have an Orange Pi PC with the Allwinner H3 processor running the latest 5.20 version of Armbian. Hi, I'm struggling to find a solution. I installed heirloom-mailx following this site https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1711217. I can send emails (using gmail) as root user. The problem is with non-root user: the messages go to a query folder (/var/spool/mqueue) and never are sent. I have little experience with linux. Could you help me? Hi! I have a MiniX device on the A20 processor. It is very similar to cubieboard 2, but has no ethernet input. I downloaded the firmware from cubieboard 2 (Armbian_5.20_Cubieboard2_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.img), recorded on the sdcard. Firmware starting, but stops on the line : loading, please wait. I waited more than 20 minutes but nothing changed... I am Attaching the script file.fex which has been with this device. Help to understand what the problem is, thanks. script.fex https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-6BIQC_H2vla0ljYnBiYXMtNGc It is very similar to this, the CPU only and the other is a20 1Gb ram, 4Gb nand http://linux-sunxi.org/Pineriver…

Hi, I seem to be unable to create a working image for my Orange Pi PC+ with a 4.x kernel (I want to use Docker). I had a working 4.7.3 install but a recent (this week) apt-get upgrade installed a 4.8.x kernel (and probably a u-boot) after which my Opi PC+ will not boot anymore (my home-router shows the opi for a short time but it disappears before I can do a ssh to the Opi PC+). None of the images I have or create with a 4.x kernel seem to want to work. Only the 3.4.112 images that I download will work. Since I fried my uart0 and I haven't been able to use uart1 I have not been able to debug this. So I was hoping someone has a working image with a 4.x kernel …

Hi, I just installed ARMBian on my Banana Pi M2+ (BPi-M2+) and think to do the same on my router Banana Pi R1 (BPi-R1). As the WiringPi is created for GPIOs from Raspberry Pi, I presume there are perhaps not the same on those Banana Pi boards. But I discovered there are many Wiring libraries for this GPIO use on the BPi. Does somebody give back its knowledge to know which Wiring library is the best for those two Banana Pi boards ? - WiringBP - WiringOP - MikuPi I want to use them for reading Temperature and Humidity (DHT22) and a sonar sensor (HC-SR04). And further with a NFC rader. Sincerely thanks for your help.

Hi All, Armbian boots fine from SDcard but when I run nand-sata-install the script complains that it has no target. A #ls /dev/mmcblk* shows /dev/mmcblk0 and /dev/mmcblk0P1 When mounted, just to see, the mmcblk0P1 partition contains the usual linux directories, so I suppose this partition is definitely the SDcard No EMMC device is present. Could this be due to me performing, yesterday a: dd if=/mnt/ArchLinux_Minimal.img of=/dev/mmcblk1 bs=4M ? I did this because I read somewhere that booting up from SDCARD followed by a dd worked in some cases. Note I originally wanted to run Arch, but since there is apparently no support at orangepi.org, after…

Hello there, hope you been able to give me a hand; I've downloaded and installed without problems the current Xenial server Vanilla distro on my Banana pi. Then I've tried installing iptables, but for some reason, everytime I execute 'sudo systemctl start iptables' I receive the following error message: Failed to start iptables.service: Unit iptables.service not found. I know that something has got installed, as iptables -L provides the expected output; however, any systemctl command for iptables (start, stop, enable, restart) fails with the message above. Certinaly, searching for 'iptables.service' at file system returns no matchs, so file is really missing. My under…

Hi, Just signed on - I've got Armbian running on my BananaPI (i.e. the original plain Jane BPi) - and liking it on there so far. So - I was impressed with Armbian on there - and shelled out and got the OPi+ 2E - flashed an SDCard with Armbian - booted up - and really liking it. Only got it yesterday (took like a month after arriving in the country [AU]). Did nand-sata-install, successful and rebooted - and now running Armbian off eMMC - runs sweet. Really impressed so far - VASTLY better experience than Pine64 (I'm looking for a desktop experience on Arm - for no other reason than "because it's there"). Got Chromium browser working - synergy KVM and Plan…

Hi specialists, I'm trying to understand how the axp209 on Banana Pi works with the A20. In the Banana Pi schematics I see, that they are connected with only four lines. Two lines are used for I²C (TWSI), one is from axp209 PWROK to RESET# of A20 and another one is connected from axp209 IRQ and GPIO2 to NMI# of A20. When system is off and I press my Power Button (K1) on the Pi, the system is booting. System is running and I long press the Power Button, System shuts down. But can anyone say whats happening? What does axp209 do with IRQ, GPIO2 and PWROK pins? Wich way does the A20 recognize, that it has to shutdown? Yours Martin

Hi, I have compiled the FFmpeg version in "https://github.com/stulluk/FFmpeg-Cedrus" (great job !!) to get h264 hardware encoding on Olinuxino-LIME2-4G A20 board. Hi! I've coded a script that allows me to create a bootable disk of my favorite systems for different boards. it does a dd of the mbr (446 kb), then with fdisk and mkfs create the partitions, and at the end copy all the data for the root partition and others. This works for raspberry pi2 pi3, but for the orange pi it works only if the sd card is the same of the one used to backup the system, so i've investigated if the fstab or boot.cmd has some uuid of the disk but everywhere i found the device name instead of the uuid identifier. I don't understand why the orange pi lite don't boot with a different sd card if it have the same mbr and the same partitions. app…

Hi, I seem to have "fried" the default Debug TTL UART (the 3 pins next to the hdmi connector). (connecting the ground of the usb-ttl to TX of the UART and leaving it there for a few minutes is not a good idea it seems :-)). The orangepipc+ still works when booting from emmc (armbian 5.17 debian jessie, kernel 4.7.3) but does not seem to want to boot from microsd (tried console only 5.17/4.7.3, 5.21/4.8.1). So I would like to debug that but whatever usb-ttl I connect I don't see anything (tried 3 different usb-ttl to make sure it was not the usb-ttl device)> My question: is it possible to see uboot messages (or at least the kernel boot) via a different port…

So you guys that have more experience, what should I be looking at, when I find some code that runs on a Raspberry Pi to verify that it will also run on the Orange Pi PC? If I find some interesting code on Github for example . Regarding GPIO I think there shouldn't be any problem, since we have WiringOPI and that py20a or how its called. But what about i2c lcd's, max7219 matrix displays, other stuff? How does it differ the compatibility of boards between python and C code?

I noticed that 5.20 is out and some folks are talking about 5.21. I'm running Jessie. Also, for me to use a more recent version of Debian, I'm guessing I would have to build the image myself? Is that due to shortcomings in the 4.x kernels on the H3 platform? I've done some digging and it seems like many (most) things are working right on the 4.x kernels? Thank you James

Hi, Initially this started by trying to have proper capture and playback in PCM/I2S port, but it looks like that ALL H3 audio drivers got the same problem, they cannot capture at 24bits, they cannot do HiFi recording despite the Allwinner's datasheet that they do have 24bits in plain audio port and up to 32bits in PCM/I2S/HDMI. I made a very simple test in another thread here and anyone with any H3 board without anything else can do it too -> http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/759-tutorial-i2s-on-orange-pi-h3/?p=17595 Then it popped to my mind to do the most simple of the tests, in the included/onboard audio codec, wich according to datasheet it is w…

Hi All, I'm using a rather old Armbian (wheezy) image on an Olimex Micro. I've installed a lot of apps on it, so I don't want to be moving to a newer image. I'm trying to copy my SD card image to NAND using the `nand-sata-install.sh` script that came with the image. All goes well. The script partitions the NAND, reboots, installs all files and shuts down. When I remove the SD card and power on, the board boots and everything is still alright. Now, on subsequent poweroffs or reboots, the board does boot, but I doesn't connect to ethernet. Boot logs from debug UART show that `proc` isn't mounted. Error: /proc must be mounted What could be the reaso…

I'm running OpenElec on a NanoPI-M1 and one thing missing is having the screen blanked when the screensaver kicks in, allowing the monitor to power down. In Kodi there's no option to do it, unlike when running in other OS. Probably someone is going to direct me at CEC but that does not work for me as I have a PC monitor connected to the board through a HDMI->VGA adaptor. I've read in the sunxi docs that the '/sys/class/graphics/fb0/blank' sysfs entry should control blanking for the framebuffer, therefore blanking the HDMI output, but it either does not work that way or at all, as nothing happens. On the RP world there is a command line utility that can enable/disabl…
