It's possible I may have uncovered a bug. I'm having a problem getting a remote share to mount on boot. The mount is attempted before the network interface is ready and I've got `_netdev` on the required line in `/etc/fstab` . . . . //192.168.0.160/raspi /zeus/raspi cifs rw,auto,uid=1001,gid=1002,file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0755,_netdev,vers=3,credentials=/etc/.smbcredentials_raspi_01 0 0 Here is the part of `dmesg` that explains the issue better than I can: [ 41.572110] sun7i-dwmac 1c50000.ethernet eth0: PHY [stmmac-0:01] driver [RTL8211E Gigabit Ethernet] (irq=POLL) [ 41.574888] sun7i-dwmac 1c50000.ethernet eth0: No Safety Features suppo…

Short issue description: sometimes after pulling a USB device out it makes OPi3 USB host controller stuck. One or more USB ports are getting unresponsive (sometimes all four of them) and no messages in dmesg about connection/disconnection. No matter what device is used. This thing happens only on the first host controller, the second rear one is functioning and responsive. It happens more often if we push in and pull out four devices in a short period of time. Wherein /sys/kernel/debug/usb/devices is stuck too, we cannot read the info from it and all the utils (vi, cat, etc.) are getting the D state (uninterruptible sleep). "lsusb" is also not working, but can b…

Good day Armbian Forums! I'm having some trouble with builds of Armbian (up to and including 21.08.6 | kernel 5.10.60-sunxi) seeing wireless access points that are configured to channels 12 & 13 on my Orange Pi Zero Plus2 boards (H3 + 256mb RAM). Specifically, the default Android image (a generic Chinese-language Android multimedia system) that's loaded onto these boards can see and connect to access points that have been set to all channels (1-13) successfully, but any Armbian image I have tried fails to see anything (and subsequently cannot connect) to routers on channels 12 & 13. Due to the nature of this, I believe it may be a region setting or dri…

Dear Armbian Zen Masters, Please, help me turn on bluetooth on my Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 H5 board (running armbian focal server). This board is up to date (apt update and upgrade). I've enabled bluetooth support from armbian-config on this board. But, bluetoothctl is not working (gets stuck in waiting for response on command execution). Wifi is working fine on this board. (I could easily use bluetoothctl on my khadas vim3 pro board with "current armbian xfce desktop" on it) Waiting for your response. (Please, find the relevant board info below.) Thanks in advance, Spherulite. -------------------------------------------…

Hi, I thought I'd share this in case anyone else is in the same situation as I. I've been trying to get my Orange Pi Lite to boot the latest (Aug 26 2021) images. I've tried Focal, Bullseye and Hirsute, and the Lite doesn't seem to care for any of them. "Armbian_21.02.1_Orangepilite_buster_current_5.10.12_desktop" from the Archive section does boot, as do the versions of Ubuntu and Debian from the Orange Pi website. Perhaps if I had a serial terminal connected I would be able to troubleshoot this, but I don't yet. I'm using a Sandisk Ultra A1 64Gb and I'm monitoring my power supply with my oscilloscope and haven't noticed any dips belo…

Armbian_21.05.1_Nanopiduo_focal_current_5.10.34.img boots (updating via apt upgrade also causes it not to boot any more) Armbian_21.08.1_Nanopiduo_focal_current_5.10.60.img does not When I examine the SD card it hasn't expended from image (makes sense since the heartbeat never starts).

Because I'm a glutton for punishment, I decided to test a bunch of PCDuino3 images. Hopefully this will be helpful for someone. Feel free to double-check my work. 3.X kernels work perfect. 4.11-4.14 no HDMI Audio 4.19-5.8 there's a bug where the console won't show up if you connect a high resolution screen. It complains about not enough memory reserved for the frame buffer. So if you have a blank screen, it's possibly working, but you just can't see anything. Also, still no HDMI audio even though it's built into the kernel. 5.9-current hangs at "Starting Kernel" showing in the serial port.

Hi forum, I ran an apt-get upgrade a few days back and here linux-image-current-sunxi:armhf was updated from 21.05.6 to 21.08.2 After reboot my SATA was gone. There was nothing in the logs which would have indicated that something is wrong. After I reverted back to 21.05.6 apt-get install linux-image-current-sunxi=21.05.6 apt-get install armbian-firmware=21.05.8 apt-get install linux-dtb-current-sunxi=21.05.6 everything worked again. Has anyone experienced something similar ? Regards Volker

I know, using an old Banana Pi M1 for desktop doesn't make sense at all. I would prefer having help or/and advice clearing the problems I've encountered, instead a discussion why I'm testing a desktop environment on a BPi M1. Tested with Armbian 21.08.01 Buster / 5.10.60 After the initial boot nano or / and armbian-config doesn't work. A reboot solves this issue. After the second boot I changed verbosity to 7 and console to serial. All other changes where made throu armbian-config. Changing Pi's name works, but changing console's layout doesn't. Never mind, that is a minor problem, which can easily solved by hand. So I did "firmware upgrade" and rebooted m…

This is a simple one, but the most annoying. The only Linux distribution I can not get to work in the Armbian on the Banana Pro. Sandisk 32Gb Class 10 MicroSD card. A USB power supply that does supply sufficient power and current. I write the image to the MicroSD card, insert it into the Banana Pro's card holder, power it up, the red LED lights up and ................. that's where it stops. No heartbeat on the green LED. The one thing I notice is that the image I download has only got one partition on it and that's the ext4 partition. It does not have the small FAT formatted partition and I think this is where it all goes wrong. …

Hello, I have problems with the u-boot both with the prebuild "Armbian_21.05.1_Nanopineo_buster_current_5.10.34" image from the armbian.com and with the "Armbian_21.08.0-trunk_Nanopineo_buster_current_5.10.59_minimal" image built form sources . First of all, the u-boot versions are different. The prebuilt image has "U-Boot 2021.04-armbian" and the second one - "2020.10" The board boots ok with the both images, but the u-boot does not see the SD card properly and is not able to load the environment file from it: "Loading Environment from FAT... (Finally this forum lets me enter a new topic. It's failing most of the time, making it really hard to solve my actual problem if the infrastructure also fails.) I'm using an Orange Pi Zero board and try to make it talk to a radio module via SPI. The whole thing already works on a Raspberry Pi so the module and cabling is correct. But the module doesn't respond to requests on the Orange Pi. Since this doesn't do anything, I searched for issues like this and along the way found an SPI loopback tool. I tried it and it returned all zeros. The tool readme suggests that the MOSI and MISO pins are not connected, but they are. I checked and resoldered those pins and …

Hi, I had until yesterday an Armbian version from a year ago on the board, until then I never had problems with my network (WiFi). Yesterday I had then made an apt update + upgrate. After that, however, I suddenly had the problem that some access points are no longer found. This is so that my access point (Fritzbox), my mobile hotspot from smartphone (Samsung) and a network of a neighbor is no longer found. Other access points are still found, so there are still WiFi access points available but I can no longer find mine. Now I have installed the latest version today and still the same problem. Manual entry unfortunately brings nothing because the connecti…

For the second time within about 4 weeks my cubietruck is not coming up anymore after a sudo apt upgrade and reboot. Is there something systematically breaking? I think it is the initramfstools that is breaking it? Now, I have no radio, alarm-clock and I cannot turn on my coffee-maker over the internet and I will probably have to spend a day etching a new SD card etc. I bought a new SD card last time this happened since I figured ist would be related to that, now I think it is a software thing. I use the cubietruck headless over ssh and have no real video output, just audio. I also need to do some cumbersome operations t…

I have tried the image for Buster from the Download page for OrangePi PC Plus, and also built new images from current Git repo. In all cases the device bootloops when it tries to start the kernel. The image from the OrangePi website works ok. This looks like a similar issue as experienced recently with CubieTruck and BananaPi A20 boards (https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-749) which was fixed with a workaround (https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/2963) Is it possibly the same / similar underlying problem?

Hi, I have ten orange-pi pc plus with Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS with Linux 5.10.43-sunxi burned onto emmc, and twenty orange-pi pc plus with Focal 21.05.6 with Linux 5.10.43-sunxi burned onto emmc. In an attempt to provoke the same issues we have with Xenial on these boxes, I have all of them rebooting (shutdown -r now) once every 10 minutes. They have all been under test for several days. They are all connected to a LAN backbone, but the LAN is not connected to the internet, so whilst they may be attempting to do unattended upgrades, for example, they are all failing. This is a deliberate part of the test. Of the twenty Focal 21 boxes none have failed. …

I own an orange pi PC PLUS for about a year and when I got it, I tested it and it worked fine when it booted up from the internal MMC, then I tried to make a server and I think I messed up something with the LAMP I was trying to make so I stashed the PI to play with it later. Now when I turn on the PI, it only loops and never loads the OS, so I downloaded Focal and buster from this link and burned them to an SD and it also loops in this screen, https://imgur.com/WzikUoo what could be wrong? my idea is to reinstall the OS to the internal MMC so I can then install home assistant. thanks in advanced.

Hi I trying to return in work OPi+2e board but faced some odd thing. When I trying to boot Armbian I getting temperatures about 180C which leads to shutdown during booting. It reproduceable with all versions from hirsute/5.12.15 back to oldest avaliable bionic/5.4.8 Official Ubuntu xenial/5.3.5 works fine, but /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp gives negative readings (like about -76500) Installed on eMMC old RetrOrangePi which is Armbian jessie/3.4.113 also works but gives zero (exactly 0) temp reading. Finger test gives "room temperature" reading and "warm" while old OS works. Definetly not 180C Board itself is from 2017, worked a…

Hi there! I just received three decommissioned BananaPI M1+ from a company and I'm trying to install the latest version of Armbian Buster available on them. Once I flash the image to the SD card (tested and working fine), however, the board goes into boot loop as per the video. The only error that seems to be displayed is "EHCI failed to shut down host controller". If it can be useful to find the cause, I point out that the problem occurs with both Armbian Buster and Armbian Focal regardless of the presence of the "fdtfile=sun7i-a20-bananapi-m1-plus.dtb" line in the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file. What do you think I could do to solve it? Thank you all in advance.

Good morning, I have a NanoPi Neo core where I am trying to use the usb ports (USB1, USB2 and USB3), the first thing to say is that all usbhost is active in armbian-config. The system does not recognize me anything in any of the 3, not a pendrive, or Wi-Fi or anything. If I go to armbian-config, I see that the DTB system that has loaded is that of the NanoPi air, I do not know if it can influence. USB devices receive power when connected. Any idea if I have to activate something else or modify the DTB or something? I have tried adding to armbianEnv.txt this line at the end fdtfile = sun8i-h3-nanopi-neo.dtb but nothing. Hello Igor, first of all thank you very much for your efforts. I used Armbian in the past and wanted install some up-to-date version. However this fails/hangs independent of selected OS either at 'armbian-resize-filesystem' or 'Flush Journal to persistent storage'. The first boot may take some >15min if succeeds. However i can't login after as it accepts no keyboard input. I started testing upwards from very old version (sorry, i downloaded many and only few by Torrent, but i did send you some donation to cover this). Up to Armbian_20.08.2_xxx_5.8.6 it works well, irrespective of debian/ubuntu flavor. So, the bug came with Armbian_20.11…

Hi All I am not able to run Armbian Buster from the Downloads page (https://www.armbian.com/cubietruck/) on the CT board. Other images run fine, including: - Armbian_5.65_Cubietruck_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.78 (from archive) - Armbian_5.65_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.14.78 (from archive) - openwrt-19.07.7-sunxi-cortexa7-sun7i-a20-cubietruck-squashfs-sdcard.img.gz (from OpenWrt downloads site) The problem is that it endlessly reboots after resetting the CPU. The output from the serial port is shown below. I can interrupt the Autoboot and get to the Uboot console ok. The output from printenv is also shown below. Any…

Good morning, I am designing a board to use a NanoPi Neo Core. By default it comes without Wifi or BlueTooth. I had thought about putting the AP6212 chip on it. Can someone tell me if it is compatible with Armbian in its latest versions? Thank you and best regards!

System: armbian, BananaPi Pro, sd card, sata ssd, usb hdd I manually moved my existing armbian system from sd card to a sata ssd. Then I changed the rootdev in armbianEnv.txt to the ssd´s UUID. After reboot I thought everything was ok. Then after a system update I figured out that the kernel version differs from the installed kernel modules. I think the new kernel and the modules are installed in /boot at /dev/sda whereas the kernel still boots from /dev/mmcblk0p1. How can I fix this? Here some information: root@pi-nas:/mnt/boot# lsblk NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT sda …

Hello, for my BananaPi I recently downloaded "Armbian_21.05.1_Bananapi_buster_current_5.10.34.img" and did not get the on-board CAN controller working with this image. I found out that in sun7i-a20-bananapi.dtb (uses sun7i-a20.dtsi) the group name for the CAN pins PH20 and PH21 has changed from "can0_pins_a" to "can_ph_pins" but in the sun7i-a20-can overlay this change had not been done accordingly, and the DT merging failed. So changing "sun7i-a20-can.dts" to: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun7i-a20"; fragment@0 { target = <&can0>; __overlay__ { pinctrl-names = "default"; pinctrl-0 = <&can_…

I usually attach a GPS module to OrangePi One to act as a GPS ntp server . GPS serial data can use any UART port. but PPS pulse can use PA7 or UART_RTS, I most connect to PA7, works very well. Recently I bought a GPS modules for Rasberry Pi, it connect the PPS to pin 12, in One it's PD14 But when I set param_pps_pin=PD14 in armbianEnv.txt , it can't work at all . see /sys/kernel/debug/gpio , there is no GPIO 110 (PD14) at all. So don't use PD14 as a PPS pulse input.

Greetings, after a long time I am playing with my old Banana Pi Pro again. This time with the intention to probably use it on IoT purposes. That implies I only need WIFI and the GPIO pins. Which gives some opportunity to save power by powering down every thing else which is not needed. My first approach here is to strip down everything from the device tree I don´t need. That means everything related to: framebuffer hdmi lcd sata display engine ethernet video codec usb ir gpu/mali That resulted in a drop in power consumption in idle from: ~0.990 - ~1.330W to: ~0.700 - ~1.000W …

Before this I used to connect my APM 2.8.4 Flight controller to a Raspberry PI on Ground, Pin 8 and Pin 10. Today I tried to connect it to my orange pi zero plus2 H3. Pin 9, Pin 8 and Pin 10. On armbian-config toggle UART2. When i tried to connect to it using cat /dev/ttyS2 nothing came out. Once a while sent out some gibberish. I set the correct buadrate at 57600 and 91600 to no available. But I know the settings are correct because when I connect using USB through /dev/ttyACM0 it works. I tried ttyS1 and ttyS3 nothing came out of it. On Raspberry I had done this many times just by turning on the Serial Connection using …

I downloaded the most fresh image Armbian_21.02.3_Orangepipc_focal_current_5.10.12_desktop.img.xz from armbian.com for my board OrangePi PC. I installed it and had a problem with a process lightdm-gtk-greeter which eats 100% of CPU all time after first board reboot. Updating via apt-get update/upgrade didn't solve the problem. Hallo, I hope the topic hasn't existed before .. I have an Bananpi M2+ as H5 (64bit). Good Images are OrangePi-PC2 or NanoPi K1 Plus. My problem is, no support of emmc. Are there any known compatible images for the Banana Pi M2 + H5 that work? The NanoPi K1 Plus has problems rebooting and recognizing a keyboard. The OranngeP PC2 works fine, but no emmc support. Hi, A few weeks ago I downloaded the actual Debian Buster version without desktop. I installed the OS and moved the filesystem to the attached SATA disk. Finally I installed and configured Samba and tested it transferring files form my desktop. Everything worked fine except transferring relatively big files. The files (2 in total) giving problems were a about 3Gb. When transferring a big file the upload seems to stop. The ethernet connection with the BananaPi M1 is completely de-activated. There is only one solution to re-activate as far as I know: remove the power connector and resupply the board. After resupplying the board…

I installed the pyA20 library for controlling GPIO, but I can't get the internal pullup resistor to work anymore. I managed to get it working before, but after playing around with other things, it stopped working. I have a very simple circuit going on, with just a light switch and I'm trying to read the light switch using the internal pull-up resistor. I managed to get it working for a few days, but that's it. I gave up and decided to solder on my own 10K pull-up resistor from the input pin to 3.3V. To my surprise, the results were the same, the input pin floated. Everything works fine with an Arduino. This is all very strange and I hope someone can help me. I'm runn…

Maybe an issue with the power supply (it is the offical power supply 5V 3A DC jack).

I downloaded the armbian focal image for NanoPi NEO/Core board, and it works great. (Specifically, Armbian_20.11.10_Nanopineo_focal_current_5.10.4.img, so it's a few months old.) I'd like to start creating my own image, and I'm all setup to do that, but what I'd love to do is start from the .config file(s) used to create the image I'm using. That way I have a known base configuration from which to start modding. Are those available anywhere to download? Thanks!

I have a NanoPi Neo Core and I'd like to analyse the SPI controller driver and why it toggles the lines the way it does. In the overlay file, all I see are mentions to 'spidev'. Where can I find out why the data lines shown below toggle the way they do? I.e. chip select goes low way before the clock line. The MISO line has a droop to GND briefly and the CLK line hangs high for a while before toggling... Thanks forum :). YELLOW: CS PURPLE: MOSI BLUE: MISO GREEN: CLK EDIT: I'm sending two bytes, 0xDA, 0x00 at spi mode 3. Ignore the decoder, it was set to read LSB first.

Hi all, I'm working with a BPI-P2 board. I installed the last Armbian version for BPI-M2 as the two boards are basically the same except the RJ45 connector and the eMMC. I installed it on an SD card, and everythig worked perfectly. Now I need to put the OS on the eMMC and then completely remove the SD card, but I'm struggling. The default Armbian for BPI-M2 is not intended to support eMMC, so I'm not surprised that with this version the eMMC dosn't show up. But I can't turn off the GPU. since I don't need it and ethernet. uname -a Linux orangepione 5.9.14-sunxi #20.11.3 SMP Fri Dec 11 20:31:12 CET 2020 armv7l GNU/Linux root@orangepione:~# I installed the h3consumption utility, but it does not output information to the console. root@orangepione:~# h3consumption -p root@orangepione:~# from teams root@orangepione:~# h3consumption -g and root@orangepione:~# h3consumption -g off change but no current. I think the core is very new. I don’t know which way to go,…

Hello After a couple of years, I took my "ancient" OrangePi board and found it working well with Ubuntu 18.04 (kernel 3.14.113). And I even did distr update to 20.04. So HW is ok. I found that Armibian support status of OrangiPi is changed to "Supported" and decided to try the latest image with modern kernel "Armbian_21.02.1_Bananapi_focal_current_5.10.12_desktop.img.xz" (shared image between OrangePi and BananaPi). XFCE desktop was loaded but USB was not working. And that was the known mismatch between OrangePi and BananaPi HW conguration. So I updated "/boot/armbianEnv.txt" with "fdtfile=sun7i-a20-orangepi.dtb". But after that video became OFF…

I've been using the Armbian R1 image (Armbian_20.02.1_Nanopi-r1_buster_current_5.4.20.7z) on the NanoPi R1S with good success. In particular, the USB host port worked perfectly, with no changes required. I thought it was probably about time to upgrade to a newer kernel, so I downloaded Armbian_21.02.1_Nanopi-r1_focal_current_5.10.12.img, flashed it to an SD card, and booted. However, plugging in an external USB device results in absolutely zero shoing up in `dmesg -w`. I tried a USB-UART (STM32-based ACM), USB3 hub, USB 3 Mass Storage (Kingston 16GB), and a Playstation 3 Eye, without any entries in dmesg. To do some debugging, I also downloaded Arm…

Hi guys I have an OPi1 with armbian 5.83 kernel 4.19 and I can't use otg. It seems powered but it doesn't recognize anything. I read this topic but I can't understand what to do. I just want to attach an external storage or a wifi dongle, to avoid using an usb hub. So I think I shoud use the otg as host for what I understood, right? thank you in advance for any help

Hi, trying to install a char driver without any driver framework. The only thing I can not install is getting the Interrupt through to the interrupt servce routine err = request_irq(irq, handler, // IRQF_TRIGGER_RISING, IRQF_TRIGGER_HIGH, "can4linux", &can_minors[minor]); irq is the Interrupt number of the CAN controller, it is fixed in the A20 to 58. I do get no error messages, but the isr is not called. What I am missing? Greetings Heinz By the way, it worked an Bananian 3.x
