  1. Started by Aqua,

My current setup is the tinkerboard powered by the raspberry pi universal adapter connected to ethernet and a external HDD(Maxtor M3) powered by the Tinkerboard's usb. I have used it very lightly in this configuration (ssh-ing into it and copying some files to the hdd) but from what I have gathered from the information available here this powering setup is inedequate and will lead to problems. So I want to follow the recommended method and power it through the GPIO pins. I am considering using this or this powersupply. (I realize 10A on the second one is overkill for the tinkerboard, but the price difference from the 3A rated one is minimal and I could find some othe…

  3. Hi all, I'm trying a Tinkerboard running armbian (minimal) and DietPi. My goal is to handle suspend and wake up. To enter in suspend mode i run 'echo mem > /sys/power/state'. I'm looking other ways to suspend .. by C application or by a signal on GPIO To wakes up I notes different modes on different OSes: - linaro pressing power button, pressing a key on usb+bt keyboard, pressing usb+bt mouse button - dietpi - pressing power button - armbian minimal - nothing ? my guess is that the board shuts down Please con you confirm? Where does reside this different behaviors? Thanks, regards. PS: is …

Hey, I’m running armbian on a tinkerboard and I need to connect to a CAN-bus. Apparently the usual Linux CAN-kernel-modules aren’t shipped with armbian, so I guess I’ll have to add them manually somehow. I`ve been trying to do that for two days now without any luck. I’ve been trying to follow the steps described in other forums, but it haven’t helped. I really just want to add the necessary modules to my existing kernel. Any ideas?

  6. Looking for a bit of advice... Been running Armbian CLI on the tinker (nonS) via SD card no problems Got an S with eMMC... Wrote tinkerOS and it loads no problems... Wrote Armbian image.... No go / boot Any suggestions on how to fix.... Thanks... There is a bit here which is what it used to re-write TinkerOS to the eMMC https://tinkerboarding.co.uk/wiki/index.php?title=Setup Really like the Armbian CLI versions as lightweight and without bloat.

  11. Hello, I've used the Tinkerboard S (Rockchip RK3288) with the Armbian images available for download (https://www.armbian.com/tinkerboard/). Currently, the /dev/ttyS4 serial port is not available unless CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_NR_UARTS=5 when the Linux kernel is built since the serial ports are populated in /dev starting with /dev/ttyS0 and the last serial port to be populated is /dev/ttyS4. By default, CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_NR_UARTS=4. Some additional kernel settings are required to ensure that all of the available serial ports can be utilized. Moreover, I had to activate I2C4 in the device tree overlay using the Armbian configuration utility (https://docs.armbi…

Apart from these when i run glxinfo, it shows It means direct rendering is enabled. But when i run glxgears it consumed almost 18% CPU( So i think glxgear is not able to use GPU and performing all tasks at CPU). I edited the /boot/armbianEnv.txt and add the overlays, I found different parameters and all doesn't work, I tried: overlays=spi0 spi2 overlays=spi-spidev param_spidev_spi_bus=0 and via armbian-config: fdt_overlays=rockchip-rk3399-spi-spidev But with all approaches I didn't get a /dev/spi* device. Has anyone played with kvm or xen on the hw-virt capable rockchip devices? Im trying to setup a simple kvm scenario. Im using Armbian tinker stable and the excellent @Myy 4.13 kernel and have configured it for guest and host support. Im struggling to get the boards up in "Normal" (PL2 / Hyp) mode. I can only get them to boot in "Secure" mode, which is the normal method of boot. Secure boot disables access to Privilege Level 2 and the ARM Hypervisor which makes virtualisation impossible. I have tried setting "bootm_boot_mode=nonsec" but it makes no difference, I still get "kvm [1]: HYP mode not available" during boot. Same as I get with "bootm_boot_mode=sec" wh…

  22. Hello to all, I am using an HDMI switch. I have noticed that TinkerBoard Armbian, displays fine the UBOOT text/logo but after that, the HDMI shows no signal/image If I connect the HDMI cable directly from the board to the monitor all is ok. 24. Started by WZ9V,

I put a TinkerBoard in a Pi-Top CEED and using TinkerOS 2.0.8 it boots and the LCD works fine. Using Armbian it looks like it boots but nothing is displayed on the LCD. The Pi-Top CEED uses a HDMI to 30-pin converter board and the current LCD is a 1920x1080 14in that I used to upgrade the original. Any ideas why the Raspberry running Raspbian and The Tinkerboard running TinkerOS would work with the display but Armbian wouldn’t?

    Started by Guest,

In order to review the Tinker Board boot logs via serial console, I set up armbianEnv.txt to get the logs. But Armbian didn't output anything. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? As long as I reviewed boot.cmd, the serial port was assigned to /dev/ttyS2. So I used UART2 GPIO pins (GP7C7 for TX, GP7C6 for RX) to interact. (snip) if test "${console}" = "serial" || test "${console}" = "both"; then setenv consoleargs "console=ttyS2,115200n8 ${consoleargs}"; fi (snip) The barudrate is 115200. Of course, I re-checked my connection between USB-UART serial cable and UART2 GPIO pins (USB-UART RX to GP7C7TX, USB-UART TX to GP7C6 RX). Any infor…

  28. Hello, I have 2 questions. 1. How long does the support for the tinkerboard takes. Because I'm using the Board as Server and i don't need much CPU Power but I don't like to buy every 2-4 years a new board because the support ended. The reason of this question is, the odroid c1, there is no stretch image for this board. 2. Is there a good howto, how to build a kernel on a thinkerboard with own config? Reason for this question is, I have installed the latest armbian stretch server image on my tinker board and the kernel has no ebtables support. Second Reason ist question 1, build a own Kernel and update to Debian 10,11, ...., n.

  29. So, if you use the mainline DTSI files, you'll encounter an issue when loading the Mali Midgard GPL kernel module, since the main ARM kernel maintainers changed how the "compatible" properties of Midgard GPU nodes should be defined. Don't ask me why, they created an entire documentation stating that now the Mali Midgard GPU nodes have to harbour the chip series number, a vendor-specific statement, and drop the "arm,mali-midgard" property. The additions are nice, since they allow a quick detection of the chip number and the chip vendor using /sys nodes names. However, turns out that the Mali kernel driver used the dropped property to detect the GPU. So, I've …

  30. Hello all. I'm doing some tests with the Tinker Board to see what's the best operating system for it for a new video. I'm using the Armbian Ubuntu Desktop legacy kernel. For this I do Blender and Kdenlive renders to see if there's a speed difference. But with both I've got the problem that it crashes the Tinker Board. Hi folks... Looking at RK3288 on Armbian and the power/thermals - which are considerable considering SBC's like tinkerboard and miqi Currently - looks like all cores are following the same power/time domain - so one core goes fast, and the others follow, so sucks power and raises temps, and we get heat soaked quickly... Looking at the Rockchip docs, it does look like the RK3288 does have PD's for each core along with other logic... Six separate power domains for every core to support internal power switch and externally turn on/off based on different application scenario * PD_A17_0: 1st Cortex-A17 + Neon + FPU + L1 I/D Cache * PD_A…

What does run: Joystick 8x8 led matrix (partly, seems that there are some parts of the framebuffer not fully working) What doesn't run: all the sensors attached on the board What's missing: load it devicetree overlay (at the moment it's coded into the main dts) how-to what's needed to get it working on your tinker too I'll keep you updated.

I have a MKS TS35 v2.0, that uses ST7796/ILI9341 (or ILI9486, I think) for LCD and ADS7843E for touch, and now I want to use it in my Asus Tinker Board for Klipper. I know that it's possible because exists one HOW-TO of this for Raspberry Pi 3b+. I wanna that someone, with knowledge in Armbian and Tinker Board, build (adapt) this DTS on GITHUB https://github.com/fbeltrao-br/mksts35/blob/main/mksts35v2.dts. Hi. I need hardware OpenGL ES, at least 2.0. I’ve tried this https://github.com/rockchip-linux/libmali It works OK on latest Asus OS 2.0.1, but for Armbian 5.33 kernel 4.4.88 it doesn’t: ERROR: The DDK is not compatible with any of the Mali GPUs on the system. The DDK was built for 0x750 r0p0 status range [1..1], but none of the GPUs matched: Segmentation fault I don’t have much experience with Linux, but IMO it might mean the kernel + userland parts of the GPU driver are incompatible. Is there a working GPU driver for Mali-T76x on Armbian? Thanks in advance! Regards, Kosta.

  49. Hello everyone, I've begun working to target the Armbian Legacy Tinker Board build to the Rockchip kernel. There are a list of reasons why it needs done, including some relatively large differences between the current kernel's code base and the Rockchip kernel (making it hard to patch with bugfixes/etc) and inactivity on the part of the vendor of that kernel. There are also reasons I am preferring to use the Rockchip kernel rather than the ASUS kernel. First and formost is the need to also support the MiQi. The miniarm branch of Rockchip and the ASUS kernel have board-specific fixes written in such a way as to not be friendly to other boards. I've dec…

  52. Hi. I'm running Armbian 22.05.3 Focal with Linux 5.10.60-rockchip on an Asus Tinker board. Can someone tell me how to enable SPI? I've seen instructions that say you should be able to run armbian-config and go to System > Hardware > spi-spidev, however the Hardware menu does not exist for me.

  53. On a fresh Buster Minimal install, what is required to get armbian-config fully functional? apt install armbian-config 'works' but some functions don't, for instance it fails setting the locale as dpkg-reconfigure errors as usr/lib/armbian-config/jobs.sh line 839 dpkg-reconfigure : command not found EDIT: In armbian-config I selected 'full firmware package' and rebooted, time zone settings now work. Was odd that the welcome page said run armbian-config (beta) but it had to be installed manually via apt.

Have previously succeed with Raspberry 3 and IQaudio - but intend to take a step further and do a project being more than just an amplifier. After testing several OS I have to admit Armbian has become my favorite and it is within this OS I hope to achieve this.

  72. Hi there! o/ I have noticed something... Odd. This is not a show stopper here, but the TinkerBoard NIC leds stays off all the time (if no traffic) even with link. It does blink somewhat schizophrenically when there's traffic. The right NIC led is bi-color and sometimes blinks in yellow, sometimes blinks in green. For what is worth, running Kernel 4.4-120. Issue also happened in build -104, which was the original Armbian image that I have downloaded. I thought it was something with the port, cables but... Traffic flows just normally Is it... normal? :-) Have a great (tinkering) weekend!!!
