The purpose in this guide is to make installation simple for those who wish to follow what I did. This is specifically for the Yoka TV KB2 Pro which uses the S912 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32 GB ROM. It was successful and works for setting up windows mapped drives just fine with Samba. (for example Z:\) I am using it off the SD card, I left Android 7.1 on the EMMC. Notes: My intentions are to use it for a file server for use with USB 2.0 drives I have laying around that are old but still technically usable. The file transfer speed is only expected to be around 30% of the 1GBPS wired network. The bottleneck will definitely be the USB 2.0, but for what I am using…

Every time I boot Armbian on my tv box, there is always a 5 second prompt on startup similar to entering startup options on Windows. I'm not entirely sure what it's for, but i'm assuming it's a barebones u-boot command line. The problem is, I don't need it, and it adds a significant amount of time when booting. Does anyone know how to remove it entirely and to boot directly into the kernel? I'm using a Tanix 3 mini with Armbian 5.9.0

Hello i have a KM9 S905x2 and want to get linux on my box and keep havoing issues trying to boot into Armbian.

In at least a couple of occasions, my AMLogic box failed to boot after an attempted upgrade of `armbian-bsp-cli-aml-s9xx-box-current`. I did not keep a detailed report of the first time it happened, but at the time I am pretty confident it was due to the issue addressed in PR #6287. Now, it happened again, I believe following PR #6659. Maybe @SteeMan you can take a look?

I need to use this UART on an S905 system installed with Armbian 22 and Kernel 5.15 through Python. I am able to do this by changing the permissions of /dev/ttyAML0 from 640 to 660. However I need to avoid having to issue the CHMOD command each time I power up. I have written a service in systemd to do this automatically at startup but the CHMOD command has no effect on the port permissions or else they are being overwritten later on during startup. The service is functioning correctly since CHMOD on another dummy file alters permissions as expected. Any suggestions please?

Long story short -- I was dumb and attempted to install armbian to the emmc on my s905 box because reading is hard. So now I have a box that won't boot. I flash the armbian Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS into the box (2GB/16GB S905X X96 mini) internal emmc long time ago and it is still working without problem. Now I need to upgrade Ubuntu to a newer version (at least 18.04) in order to support some software which requires a newer version of Ubuntu. My question is how can I do the upgrade? After having seen the continuous hardware changes made by the manufacturers of the cheap Android TX boxes, I would like to understand if it is possible to recover the firmware, therefore the factory Android image compatible with the Amlogic USB Burning tool. After booting from the SD with the armbian-ddbr command, I managed to create a compressed file with the factory Android image but this file does not work with the Amlogic burning tool but only with the armbian-ddbr (restore) command. I'm trying to follow the SteeMan's Installation Instructions for TV Boxes with Amlogic CPUs. I'm want to install Armbian_23.11.1_Aml-s9xx-box_bookworm_current_6.1.63_cinnamon_desktop on a Tanix TX3 with a S905X3. Looking at other posts I think I got extlinux.conf correct but I can't find any ext files and I don't where exactly they are supposed to be. The boot folder in root is empty and there's not boot folder in the boot partition. No idea what tag is relevant so I choose one at random.

I've tried reformatting my drive with SD card formatter. I've tried flashing my stock firmware. However I cannot seem to get armbian to boot. I'm getting no video output. Hi, I'm using the image Armbian_23.02.2_Aml-s9xx-box_bullseye_current_6.1.11.img on my Box TV Tigre 2 with Amlogic S905x processor and the dtb meson-gxl-s905x-p212.dtb and all the things I need are working, except the HDMI Audio output. Using the command "aplay -l" it shows no soundcards found but using the command lsmod | grep snd it shows different sound modules so I think it's a driver problem Also using armbian-config and going to system->hardware it shows an empty list. Most things work out of the box. I have however a problem with audio sink not being available for HDMI Tx audio. I tried manually mounting the kernel module (sound/soc/meson/snd-soc-meson-g12a-tohdmitx.ko) but this leads to no output (whether error or dmesg), and the module does not appear in the lsmod output. It appears to have kinetic (Unbuntu?) installed. I ended up not really using it and it went back into a box. Now I have a use for it. I want to run this software. Anyone else ever get just a blank screen? I’m trying to install onto a Trongle S3 box. I’ve tried a number of dtb’s but as it’s a relatively rear box nothing is definite. Tried to match them by spec but hoped it would at least register an output on my monitor. I get a no signal notification. The android tv box(Jio STB) is completely locked down. It can run apps only that the manufacturer has included and through their store. adb is disabled. There is almost no way to sideload apps. I have tried to use UART with usb to ttl converter to gain access to root and below is the screen that I have got. I just want to just sideload apk files in it. This is an Android TV box using the 922 chipset. Under Android, I have been using stock firmware but also recall trying that from the Ugoos AM6. I have managed to get it to boot using u-boot-s905x2-s922. I have tried several of the DTB files starting with the g12b prefix. I had initial high hopes that the one for the Ugoos would work.
