Hi, I've just installed chromium on latest noble and some ffpg packages for. Unfortunately there are issues with Live Video Streaming, stucks and all green in between, None Live Videos seems to work better. It worked with the preinstalled firefox, unfortunately live video always stops after some minutes, while other stuff on websites around the videos continues. It's an rk3399 Board.

Hello, Has someone managed to make widevine work properly in armbian for any ARM64 board? I have a orange pi 5 plus board and I'm using armbian with the vendor kernel and I'm struggling to get widevine working without success. I've tried several online tutorials but none of them seem to work (but they also seem to be rather old).

My TV is being weird. I adjusted the taskbar so it’s not off screen, although I didn’t think about the minimize/maximize/etc being cut off. I tried looking around for a solution but didn’t find topics with solutions that worked. My TV is funky and doesn't have a video adjustment menu, so I can’t do that. And the resolutions available are supposed to be supported by my tv. Am I able to set screen boundaries, like a screen safe area so the display is not cut-off? If it’s not possible, it would make a nice feature.

  6. I installed Filebrowser via armbian-config but it didn't work. The container was restarting and there was: Using database: /database/filebrowser.db Error: open /database/filebrowser.db: permission denied in the .log file. The developers of Filebrowser explained they introduced some breaking changes and documented the changes that have to be made to avoid that error: - User: File Browser no longer runs as root, but as user with PID 1000 and GID 1000. You can still change this by using Docker's --user flag [https://www.docker.com/blog/understanding-the-docker-user-instruction/]. - Volumes: the volumes with the database and configura…

  8. I am using armbian minimal and le potato. In tty the screen has a black bar of unusable space and cuts off about 1.5 lines at the bottom. I managed to install sway and sddm with the use of clearing the terminal. In sddm the top and probably the other sides of the screen gets cut off, It cuts off like half of the text at the top. In sway it has a blue bar at the top and cuts off the bottom like it does in tty. I don't really care about fixing sddm but I want to fix sway and tty. I have looked at sway's output command and setting the pos configuration does not do anything. I have also looked into changing the boot.cmd file to remove the overscan "100" thing but that still d…

  9. I have Armbian on OrangePi One. It is connected to the TV via HDMI, and has a USB card with headphones connected. I installed LXDE on it via tasksel and found that only one audio device in the mixer is visible in software at a time: either hdmi if the USB card is disabled, or headphones otherwise. Is it possible to teach a microcomputer, like a desktop computer, to see multiple audio devices at the same time?

  10. Hello everyone, I am using an Orange Pi Zero 2W with a graphical user interface (GUI). I downloaded and installed the official Orange Pi Zero 2W image. Unfortunately, I keep running into a Wi-Fi connection issue. After booting, the system repeatedly asks me to enter my Wi-Fi password. If I don’t enter it, I have no internet connection. What’s interesting is: If I disable and re-enable Wi-Fi in the network manager, it automatically reconnects to the known network without asking for the password again. Alternatively, a system reboot also restores the Wi-Fi connection automatically. I have already seen o…

Hey, I've had issues using Wireguard in Armbian. I worked out a method to install but on reinstalls this method has run into problems. I've since developed a new method but am getting a strange error as below. Can anyone interpret this and tell me if it's likely to be problematic and if so is there a way forward? I've searched the Wireguard repository and there doesn't seem to be an arch specific buildset. TIA The /var/lib/dkms/wireguard/1.0.20210219/6.1.11-rockchip64/aarch64/dkms.conf for module wireguard includes a BUILD_EXCLUSIVE directive which does not match this kernel/arch. This indicates that it should not be built. Skipped.

Hello I'm trying to setup OpenCL on Armbian 22.04 Xfce. I have an Orange Pi 5 board. I observed that there is a libOpenCL.so under /usr/lib/aarch{...} but when I echo "libOpenCL.so" into /etc/OpenCL/vendors/mali.icd, clinfo still says "Number of devices: 0". By the way, on Ubuntu 22.04 Xfce, clinfo works after following the exact same steps. Anyone any ideas? Thanks !!!

First, thanks to you guys for the great work you are doing for armbian! I am quite impressed and very happy to be able to run my odroid devices (c2, m1) on the latest kernel with zfs and lxd! What I'm wondering: since there is no such thing as do-release-upgrade in armbian: What are your best practices for upgrades to avoid being forced to always install and configure everything from scratch? Since I run most everything in lxd containers and use zfs on a separate disk, upgrading is as simple as installing/compiling zfs and lxd and restoring the lxd databases, but maybe there is a better approach besides reinstalling and compiling packages?

  16. Hi! I am using the as of this date latest armbian image Armbian 22.11 Jammy, Kernel 5.15.y, Size: 495Mb, CLI, Release date: Nov 30, 2022 for my board: https://www.armbian.com/rock64/ I am not sure if this is specifically an issue with the CLI image, or if both images are affected. I am not using a GUI. I configured a static IP address via netplan (generated and applied the config) and installed a dhcp server. The dhcp server sometimes kept failing to start on reboot. Checking the logs showed that even though the isc-dhcp-server depends on the network being configured before it tries to start, that actually systemd sometimes starts isc-dhcp-server b…

I'm not sure where to report this. I think this is a common problem across distros for arm. I had this same problem with manjaro arm a month ago. On a fresh install of armbian. 24.3 cli. Emacs 28.x is available. It is missing a lot of elpa packages because of out of date gpg keys. It cannot find elpa.gnu packages. It is, for me, completely unable to load and use my emacs configuration. Package-initialize and package-refresh-contents do not fix it. I built the current emacs from source, it's version 29.3 and that works much better.

  18. There is a previous topic on this from 2020, but it's closed and not much action was taken except discussing workarounds. I'd like to continue this. Looking at the kernel configs in this repo, many of them have CONFIG_RT_GROUP_SCHED=y. This does not play nicely with modern systemd (cgroups v2), breaking things like rtkit-daemon. See https://bugs.gentoo.org/569546 and https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655321. rtkit is an important part of making pulseaudio and pipewire work smoothly, as well as for many other low-latency applications. There are a few currently available workarounds, but none are ideal: 1. Linux 6.16 or later has boot ti…

  23. Hello, this is weird. With armbian 23.8.1 I can access the gpio-pins of the raspberry 4b. With (current) armbian 24.2.1 neither wiringpi (gpio -v) works nor any direct access (like echo "4" > /sys/class/gpio/export) The only difference I can find is the version of armbian. Please give me a hint on how to get gpio-access working with the current armbian. THX Edit: with raspbian it works (echo "4" > /sys/class/gpio/export and cat /sys/class/gpio/gpio4/value), so apparently I used the correct method.

OK, so it actually was cold in FL for a couple weeks and I did a power hack. I ported Java UIO to Java UIO 2. Java UIO (HawtJNI) This was the "Old School" high-performance approach. It relied on a custom C wrapper and JNI to bridge the gap. How it works: You have to write a C helper file, compile it into a shared library (.so) for on ARM architecture (armv7l, aarch64), and bundle it in your JAR. The Overhead: Every call from Java to C has a "JNI transition cost." To minimize this, you used moveJavaToNative to bulk-transfer buffers, which added complexity to the Java code. Java UIO 2 (FFM / Project Panama) T…

The OS is running from an sd card and logging is to ram. Power management and spin-down on the HDDs is disabled. Despite all this *something* is causing the heads to move every second or two. iotop shows no disk activity . lsof +d /mnt/sda etc. shows no open files and fatrace shows files in /usr and /var but nothing on /dev/sda etc. So, whilst it doesn't look as if any files are being accessed the HDDs are still doing something. 45. I know this might get ignored, but honestly, I don’t really mind. I just want to report something I noticed a few days ago, which I initially thought was caused by my previous setup. I was running a Radxa CM5 with a Waveshare CM4 Nano-C board, using an Armbian image for the Rock 5A. This was the only way I could get it working with mainline support. I’m aware this setup is far from standard I’m essentially using the wrong image but that’s because the Radxa CM5 IO board isn’t compatible with the Waveshare Nano board. On top of that, Armbian doesn’t officially support the CM5 RPi-CM4 IO board provided by Radxa (which does work with the Waveshare Nano, but their imag…

When I try to SSH using the full domain name it doesn't respond: vmplayer@vm-play:~$ ssh -l potato potato-blue.mostly-harmless.wlan ^C If I force IPv4 then it'll connect vmplayer@vm-play:~$ ssh -4 -l potato potato-blue.mostly-harmless.wlan potato@potato-blue.mostly-harmless.wlan's password: Doing a lookup reveals both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses: vmplayer@vm-play:~$ nslookup potato-blue.mostly-harmless.wlan Server: 127.0.0.53 Address: 127.0.0.53#53 Non-authoritative answer: Name: potato-blue.mostly-harmless.wlan Address: 10.2…

Hi Guys, I am looking for an OEM camera for my Robotic ARM project. Can anyone suggest me a camera that can be compatible with NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin development kit? I came across e-con Systems’ cameras that can be compatible with Jetson AGX Orin. Has anyone tried e-con Systems’ cameras before? The listed cameras are perfectly suiting my needs. But I would like to know if any other options are available in the market. It would be great if you could suggest me the same.

  54. Started by meathill,

Hello, I have an odroid hc4 which I am mainly using as a home NAS. I chose Armbian + OMV (headless) and it works really well. Now I tried using it as a media center at the same time with kodi. I tried both the "old" kodi version from the debian repos and also the flatpak version. For both it seems like the hardware acceleration isn't working. I can run youtube 1080p with vp9 quite fine, but neither 1080p with h264, nor anything 4k, at this resolutions it's stuttering a lot. Also the CPU-usage is always very high. When i start flatpak-kodi it returns: 'this->recurse > 0' failed at ../src/pipewire/thread-loop.c:62 do_unlock() libva info: VA-…

https://github.com/sgjava/javauio2 Java UIO 2 is the next-generation evolution of the Java UIO project, rebuilt from the ground up to leverage the Foreign Function & Memory API (FFM). By moving beyond traditional JNI, Java UIO 2 achieves unprecedented performance and hardware-level accuracy for Linux Userspace IO. Engineered for JDK 25, it provides a cutting-edge cross-platform solution for modern embedded systems. You will see a huge improvement in performance on 64 bit systems, but I've also included a script to build ARM 32 JDK 25 with FFM which currently doesn't exist. https://github.com/sgjava/javauio2#arm32-support--modern-ffm-back-to-the…

  56. I am trying to debug some sporadic issues with my wireless chip (AP6212 - on a BPI-M2 Zero). Looking through other forum posts, I'm wondering if the proper firmware is being loaded, as well as the proper NVRAM settings. I'm not new to Linux (I started using Linux around 97), but I haven't really dove into wireless firmware before, and it's all pretty mysterious to me. A previous forum post points out that the AP6212-specific firmware might not be being loaded. I checked, and in fact, it wasn't loading the firmware from the AP6212 (it looked like it wasn't loading any firmware - it was looking for brcmfmac43430-sdio.sinovoip,bpi-m2-zero.bin but only brcmfmac43430-sdio.…

  57. Hi, I have problem with full disk /var/log and to problem is with systemd-journald. I can't understand, how it works. armbian-truncate-logs works fine. When is /var/log more than 75% full, the script truncates a log and files are copied to disk /var/log.hdd -> no problem here before midnight is my /var/log 40% full after midnight is my /var/log 100% full When I was investigating, where the problem was, I found that /var/log.hdd was bigger than the size of my partition /var/log. The biggest folder is /var/log.hdd/journald There are so many files in /var/log.hdd/journald An…
