Hi, Appreciate any help on this :) Sorry if this is the wrong place for this. Problem: iiyama Prolite E2783QSU will not display resolution higher than 1080p on RockPro64, I'm sure it's supposed to go up to 4k Background: I've spent the last few days getting Armbian booting from NMVe which is all good and got Desktop up and running with MATE and over coming issues with brisk menu not working. I have other issues than this but will post separately for those. My Background: Last used Unix back in 1997, just 86ed Windows from my life, this is interesting but harder than I thought lol. Hi Armbian Community, I am trying to get the Coral/Google NPU (M.2 PCIe key) to work with the NanoPC-T4. Without success. I built Armbian with linux headers (5.4.48) and was able to apt install the gasket-dkms package. (The EdgeTPU requires Google's Gasket and Apex drivers to be built as modules with DKMS, and thus requires the linux headers to be installed at /usr/src). Also, there was no conflicting Gasket or Apex module in the Armbian release prior to install (an issue found by other EdgeTPU systems on other distros). My problem, I believe, has to do with the NanoPC-T4's PCIe. I have tried many different kernels (FriendlyElec's Core/Des…

Booted my board up for the first time in a year or two, wifi working fine but then sudo update && sudo dist-upgrade && shutdown -r now Now wifi does not work on the new kernel 5.10. Seems the 8812au driver which has morphed into 88XXau but XX no longer includes 14. Instead there's a new driver git clone https://github.com/aircrack-ng/rtl8814au.git apt install build-essential linux-headers-current-rockchip64 ARCH=arm64 make dkms_install modprobe 8814au Now wifi works again

Just installed Armbian on a Rock Pi4 to run OMV as a nas. I have a desktop installed. Install went OK but I have a weird problem, the menu has a different language for some items. Items in the main menu that have sub-groups have the other language, not sure what it is, possibly Cyrillic, but the sub-groups are in English. So, for instance, under accessorioes, accessories is not english but everything in its pop-up menu is. I've set the locale and language to GB, I'm in the UK but the menu doesn';t change.

  24. Hello everyone. I've been struggling with the temperature of my Orange Pi Lite 2. Based on what I saw in the forums, undervolting might fix this issue. I know how to undervolt the CPU by editing script.bin, however, it seems that script.bin is deprecated and now I need to change the device tree. I looked into DTS config in armbian-config, I couldn't find any voltage related parameters. I need to edit something like the dvfs_table in script.bin. Does anyone know how I can edit the device tree in order to modify voltage values? Especially voltage-frequency values. Any help is much appreciated.

I'm trying to create a microSD card to boot Armbian, but first would be inserted into a Windows laptop to edit some configuration. To make the microSD show up in Windows, the first partition must be a FAT partition, and so Linux would be ext4 partion 2. I suspect I'll need to put the /boot partition on the FAT volume, with directions to load from mmcblk1p2. In case it matters, this is a Rock64 without emmc. I've just started this research, but I'd be grateful for any u-boot-savvy person's help here. Thanks.

  34. Hi I've just downloaded Armbian_21.02.3_Rock64_buster_current_5.10.21.img.xz for my Rock64 and flashed the image to a microSD card using BalenaEtcher. Over the last couple of days I've been writing a menu based script that creates a shutdown script to spin down HDDs during the shutdown phase on Linux based SoC PC. The reason behind the script is to get around an apparent problem whereby HDDs are forcefully being shut off when SoC PCs power off. I have posted this problem myself on the Open Media Vault forums, I have come across it here on the Armbian forums, the ODROID forums and also the Stack Exchange forums. Hi there. I have some audio project on different SOM/SOC boards, now my task is to bring an i2s DAC on RK3399. I use external high-quality clock for i2s and need to make the Rockchip the masterclock slave. This is the case where I find no tail to pull yet, due to VERY cumbersome device tree, poorly documented and poorly explored. For instance, the CPU datasheet says that I2S_MCLK is output only, whilst I could find the opposite in the TRM. Moreover, the clock tree explained there, says that I can use CLKIN_I2S not only for i2s interfaces, but for spdif also! (Also there is explained some "bitclock slave mode", it's even implemented in the DAI driver,…

  51. I burned a xz compressed image of Armbian Focal onto a good SD card using BalenaEtcher as instructed on the Armbian website. I placed it into my NanoPC T4 - which currently boots from the eMMC, and held the boot button while powering on. It tried to boot - but it kept reporting there was no bootloader file and seemed to be trying to load something from the internet, not the SD card. If I dont press the boot button, it simply ignores the SD card and boots from eMMC. I reburned the SD card several times, and each time it verified fine. Does anyone know what I did wrong?

Hey. I'm working on getting a small touch screen working on my OPiZ+2. It's a Waveshare 4.3 with a resistive touchpanel (using HDMI for displaying). I've had some issues getting the touch panel to work, and just wanted to share my findings, and ask whether I have misunderstood something. The waveshare wiki does provide a script for setting up the panel, but I think it's more aimed at a raspberry pi, and it didn't get the touch panel working. I manually added spi-spidev and spi-add-cs1 to to armbianEnv.txt. I also added the parameters: param_spidev_spi_bus=1 param_spidev_spi_cs=1 (took me a bit to figure out that I…

  56. I know it sounds crazy. But at least every 1 out 3 reboots, the sbc will shutdown instead (no hdmi output) and not boot back up. Rebooting in terminal whether remotely or locally will have the same effect. And when it fails to reboot and just shuts down instead, my linksys router (ea9500) disconnects the internet (devices still connected to router). I have to power cycle the router to get it working again. This occurred on a fresh installation of the current focal releases. I would say I had to restart my router at least 15 times in the past few hours, and every time it happened was when the reboot command failed. The sbc is connected via ethernet, and the internet…

It doesn't differ (much). Major difference is that when you start with a Debian / Ubuntu you start with a DI (Debian Installer) and install Debian to some drive. That process is identical on all x86 Ubuntu based Linuxes. Only background / colours, configurations, perhaps an application / GRUB versions is changed ... We only provide "LIVE" image because of different hardware design / scenarios. Its more suitable this way. Once you login into Armbian, all tutorials and install cases will work the same way as they work on particular Debian / Ubuntu version https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials with rare exceptions when application does not come with arm/arm64 b…

Hello folks, I have completed my Armbian NTP server based on the wonderful little NanoPi Neo3. However something bothers me a bit, i.e. how much delay or latency is in eth0 (It is a 1Gbs port). By checking the default eth0 settings (ethtool -c eth0) I have the parameters below. In particular rx-usec = 327usec means that when a packet is received, the IRQ to alert the CPU can be delayed up to 327usec. With these settings on the nanopi (NTP server) I get about 1msec delay on the NTP client (Windows PC). By cutting the rx-usecs to 35 usecs I get a delay on the client of about 450usec, so a massive improvement and 30% faster than rpi 4. At the mo…

  71. Hi, in my case the test is on a Rock64 (4GB, v2 edition) using latest current Buster or Focal. The problem is in the first init configuration assistant. When selecting the "User language based on your location", after selecting es_AR.UTF-8 (I am from Argentina) it "auto-detects" my keyboard layout as AR which belongs to Arabic iirc (which is wrong). After this of course I can't type anything right on terminal. I had to fix it over ssh by issuing the command: sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration.

I'm finally realizing that I have no swap and zram is not enabled. I just checked /etc/default/armbian-zram-config and ENABLED=false I'm running Armbian buster with Linux 5.4.49-rockchip64 on a RockPi4A. Is zram turned off by default? Did I screw up/miss a step when setting up my system (quite a while back)? My system boots from an SD card. I have no SSD in the system just SATA and USB HDD. I've been having system hangs when memory runs out (which has not been frequent but is very annoying) I run most things in Docker, so if I needed to rebuild from scratch it's not the worst thing in the world. Espe…

  95. Hi, I have few boards that were once connected to wifi manually, but now are headless. I would like now to upgrade Armbian and put wifi connection during sd card flash. Tried the classic way: /etc/network/interfaces When the board boots it connects to the wifi, I see few pings and then it goes offline After taking one of the boards for troubleshooting using serial console I found that NeworkManager starts right after the network is up and screws everything: Executing sudo ifdown wlan0 && sudo ifup -v wlan0 restores the connection My question is: what is the correct way t…

  96. HI folks, I wonder how to do that.. it's that simple. on RPI OS is just ctrl + alt + F4, maybe here is more complex.

Hi, after apt upgrade, armbian-zsh package is upgraded and breaks ZShell on Armbian Focal Desktop. During initial setup of Armbian on Odroid C4, zsh has been selected as default shell. After recent upgrade of armbian-zsh package, shell is switched back to bash w/o notice. Unfortunately, armbian-config is not able to switch between shells, so I am stuck with bash and cannot return to zsh. Is there a way to switch between the shells manually and enable some kind of debug log to see what is going wrong switching shells? BTW: Switching between bash and zsh on a clean recent Armbian Focal Desktop installation is also not possible. So th…
