Hello ! I'm trying to make DuetSoftwareFirmware (software to control 3D printers boards using a SBC) working on a OrangePi4B using armbian (The software works well on raspberry pi 3 and 4). It use a SPI interface for data transfer between SBC and the board as well as an extra pin "data transfer ready". I use the pin 22 on the connector for "data transfer ready". This pin is mapped to GPIO1_D0. So GPIO pin number is 56 ( 1 * 32 + 3 * 8 + 0). For now, I'm getting errors because it seems like the pin can't be set into event mode. Below is the part of the source code (it can also be seen here) // Set up the pin gpioevent_request t…

  2. Hello, I'm new to the subject but I have a problem. I have an Orange Pi 3 and i want to install a linux based system on it to mess around with it. I tried to install armbian but with the nand-install-sata script I can't install it on my eMMC memory, since armbian doesn't see i have one. The only thing it offers me is to update the bootloader on the SD card. So i went to /dev/ and my eMMC memory isn't shown there. I just have mmcblk1 witch is my SD card and mmcblk0p1 wich is my armbian partition on the SD card and nothing else. I figured this was due to the fact that maybe this version of armbian didn't support emmc memory, so I tried with the foca…

  3. Hello all, I was setting up a my favorite SBC of all time, the Orange Pi +2E, and I can't believe that I've been so oblivious to this issue for so long, and that there is no easy solution!!! OK, so I'm doing a massive hardware clearout, and I've getting to my OPI's. Part of this hardware clearout is to finish the project I started (if feasible and still useful). I have loads of approx. Intel DC 3000 series SATA drives around 80-200 GB, and I thought these would be perfect "user data" SSD's for each of the SSD's. But then I realized... and my heart sank as I realized this issue is a problem across most OPi boards after consulting the table. …

Trying to download armbian for rockpi-4a, following the link https://redirect.armbian.com/rockpi-4a/ on https://www.armbian.com/rock-pi-4/ In one case, this resolves to https://mirrors.netix.net/armbian/dl/rockpi-4a/, which shows an empty directory except for an archive subdirectory that is empty too. clicking around through the armbian/dl folder, this seems to be only empty directories for any board. In another case, the redirect resolves to https://minio.k-space.ee/armbian which just returns XML gibberish.

  11. Hello to everyone! I'm trying to solve the issue which is currently being discussed here and I've been forced to revert back to the ancient version in the title. The problem is that along with my OPi PC I use a cheap wireless adapter based on the MT7601. Here, I've found out that the support for these cards had been merged to upstream since 4.2 kernel versions indeed with Armbian Focal 5.10.4-sunxi it worked out of the box like a charm. Unfortunately, it isn't the case with the version I'm currently on, this adding another massive headache! I've found this really interesting thread where it is discussed how to add support for the MT7601. Everything went fine apart …

Once i extract the .img from the img.xz, i don't see how i can check the actual .img since there is no checksum for it; even though it is very difficult for malware to get on the .img, it is possible. I realize that if the .img.xz's checksum is good, then the .img image is good. 37. Hi, I have an issue that is irritating me, and I'm not sure what to do about it. So on the Helios64 page (I am also using it with the Kobol enclosure), they give you a simple command like this to use: picocom -b 1500000 /dev/ttyUSB0 This is so you can access a serial TTY without an Internet connection. My problem is that the "window size" is set back to 80x24 characters. I'm not sure why this happens. I did that and for my SOM-RK3399v2 (I have added SPI flash 16 MB chip to it), it starts to boot and it got stuck on line: Trying to boot from SPI I am trying for weeks, tried various .configs/OFFSets/various config options/printf debugging/... , various binary files (for RockPro64, PineBook Pro, Roc-PC, etc) and same error. 40. It seems my OrangePi Prime was loosing stability over the years. It was working fine initially, then it was hanging up from time to time - and now it no longer can boot on stock armbian settings. It bootloops on "Starting kernel ..." in serial console. But when I set voltage to 1.3v in armbianEnv.txt - it booted ok. So it seems to be a hardware issue. Does anyone know if there is CPU VDD test point somewhere, or which regulator is responsible for CPU voltage?

I have an OrangePi +2E with the latest version of armbian. Yesterday, after a sudo apt-get upgrade, chromium upgraded to 87.0.4280.88 (Build) built on Debian 10.7. After that chromium has become useless: probably the slowest browser ever. In case you ask: I've removed all the extensions and uninstalled the browser and then installed again. nothing changed. The older version worked just "fine" (relative to what an orange pi can offer in terms of performance, of course) Is this the end of internet browsing on armbian?

Hello there, My board had just rebooted with no notice, so I wanted to take a look at /var/log/syslog in order to diagnose the issue, but for some reason, there are no logs between Dec 30 and the moment my board rebooted. Why are logs missing? What do I need to do in order to keep them the next time my board reboots? Also, am I looking at the right place to diagnose reboots? Thanks for you help! PS1: My board is the Helios64 and I'm running Armbian 20.11.4 Buster with OMV 5. PS2: I know there is an Helios64 Club, though I did not choose to post there as I'm not sure if this issue is specific to that board.

Hello, I'm planning to replace my old (but very good) Banana PI (the first model, it should be called M1 if I remember). I basically use it as my personal cloud server, for some remote daily backups and for messing things up Now I'd like to replace it with something newer and maybe I'll use the Banana just for experimental purpose. So I searched the internet but can't find something that really fits my needs, maybe somebody with more knowledge than me can give me an advice. It should have, at least: - SATA (which is a feature I can't find in many boards ) - Gigabit Ethernet (a must) - USB 3 (at least 1 port) - 1 GB of RAM (2 are b…

Hi, I know that the cubieboard2 is quite old, but I also got the impression from the forum that there should be a NAND support available somehow. Is there anybody who could give me a hint what I need to do to activate the NAND on the latest armbian-buster image? That would help me a lot .

I have a Nanopi R2s but this is generic to most boards without an inbuilt battery backed RTC. I have added a battery backed 1307 module on the I2C bus and gone through the process of getting it recogised and used. As far as it goes that's fine. The problem is the RTC is only read late in the boot process so the first part of the syslog record has incorrect date and time. Is there any way to force systemd to process the 1307 at the very start? I tried hacking the non-battery backed RTC script but it didn't take. Another option is to get the pre-systemd processes to read from the 1307 and set the inbuilt RTC before systemd starts using it? …

Hello, Thanks to the help here I got to install a latest armbian mainline version with the Lima OpenGL 2.1 support functional that might have not helped the desktop but is still nice to see the o.s. using any part of this system on a chip. To make some test after glxinfo e glxgears I tried the yquake2 engine with the demo old game and it works. I was expecting considering how old the game is to work faster even if it's accelerated for sure and expecting better quality results (bilinear filtering is not the best and sometimes objects disappear and reappear depending on the scene but it's a good test anyway). I heard lately that has been released a free sof…

  97. Hello, I got a Orange Pi One H3 based board with the usual 512MB DDR3 ram and never used it much but lately I'm trying to use it as an everyday home computer, so I'm trying to push the hardware as much as possible to benefit from any features. I actually have installed latest armbian v5.9.x kernel o.s. with Buster distribution and with some zram usage it's quite acceptable on the speed side. I had to add an heatsink on the SoC cause after latest mainline kernel temperature it seems to get close easier to 80°C degrees and even if I suppose it might work even at these temps, I think it was better to lower it down a bit (probably 5° to 10°C degrees). No overclocki…

Hi, Can I use this guide to run armbian on a SSD on a tinkerboard and then install Homeassistant? Until now I run hass.io. I'm trying to run it on an SSD to prevent SD card corruption again. Since HA will run on a docker, could I just run docker from SSD and keep armbian on sdcard? Which option would you think is better? Thank you

  99. I have an N2+ that I'm flashing Debian Buster onto an emm card. Have tried numerous times in several variations -- flash emm, boot system, log in via ssh, set up personal account, "apt update", "apt upgrade", reboot. After that I cannot log in via ssh anymore. I am using the system in headless mode and don't currently have a working serial connection (SiLabs hasn't updated their drivers to Big Sur yet) so I can't tell if the system is booting but ssh isn't working. Anyone know why "apt upgrade" would cause it to not boot or not present an ssh server properly?
