I've been using debian on all my systems for a long time. On my x86 and x64 systems, debian_version always gets updated after dist-upgrades and upgrades. It has never been the case for my embedded boards running armbian jessie. I tried to research into what actually does the trigger, but I can't find any details. When I log in, my splashscreen confirms there are no new updates (I updated this morning). It's still showing 8.0 in /etc/debian_version. I expect to see /etc/debian_version reflect 8.4 Any ideas? sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Calculating upgrade... Hi team. I am having a difficult time getting the standard Opi CSI camera to work on the newest mainline Armbian. I don't have the ability to use a legacy version because it is coupled with a preconfigured Octopi, thanks to @ldiaz. He says that Octopi will work with the camera once the system works with the camera, and I have not been able to get it to work. There are at least a dozen threads here about that camera, but most are dated. And the ones that aren't seem to talk more about performance, and they assume that your camera is working. I also saw one about overlays, which I have no idea how to deal with, or even what they are. Something tells me it just isn't thi…

So, as the title describes, I flashed Armbian Jammy Minimal CLI to a micro SD card and booted my lepotato, and was able to setup a user and update it via apt, set a static IP, but armbian-config is not an available command. I have a armbianmonitor log uploaded here: https://paste.armbian.com/berejipusu When I try to run armbian-config, well, which doesn't work, and autocomplete for "armbain" gives me these options: armbian-add-overlay armbian-install armbianmonitor Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello everyone, I am new to Armbian and need some help. I tried to install Armbian 26.2.0-trunk (https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-neo/#collapse-widget-5-0-0-0) on a NanoPi NEO Core SBC. I used Armbian Imager and wrote the latest official image (the only one available) to the SD card. After writing the image, I see only one partition on the SD card named armbi_root. When I insert the card into the device and power it on, nothing happens — there are no boot messages or logs. I think the image is missing a bootloader. So my questions are: 1) If I’m right that the bootloader is missing, how can I add a bootloader to the image? 2) How can…

Apologies for this noob question but I am still new to Ubunto. If a piece of software is currently available as a binary archive only and the accompanying installation advises unzipping it to "a folder" and running the software from this place I presume this is not really advisable, as would be the same in the Windows world. In which case, should I install the software in, say, /usr/share and run it from there or is it okay to just unzip it and run it out of the /home/[username]/ directory? Thanks!

I need certificate AP6210 in regulatory agency here in Brazil (ANATEL). My AP6210 works very well, no problems. I have certificate a similar WIFI/BT module that use Broadcom too in recent past and for this manufacturer send two things: 1. A mfg firmware that enable module hardware control (to set power, channel, duty cycle, technology, etc); 2. A tool called wl that allows send commands For bluetooth a little program that controls this part. I'm looking for similar tools for certificate AP6210 but I cant find this anywhere. I have tried contact with AMPAK and no answer. Appreciate for any help.

Why is the support of the Banana M2 model on the A31c processor stopped? I am ready to become a tester. In the firmware in the "overlay" folder there are "dtbo" files for sun6i and sun8i, but they are absent sun7i-***.dtbo, which makes it impossible to work on the a31c board with sound and serial interfaces. Please return the missing files to the firmware or provide a link where you can download them.

For some special reason, I want to make sure bluetooth is completely disabled. I have done the following: 1. Try to run hcitool & bluetoothctl. Both commands are unavailable on the system. 2. Run "systemctl status bluetooth", it says "Unit bluetooth.service could not be found." 3. Run "service --status-all", it doesn't show bluetooth entry. I'd assume bluetooth isn't enabled, but when I run "dmesg |grep Bluetooth", it shows: [ 13.744331] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.22 [ 13.744337] Bluetooth: Starting self testing [ 13.761692] Bluetooth: ECDH test passed in 16935 usecs [ 13.764626] Bluetooth: SMP test passed in 280…

Hey Gang, I'm a very novice linux user, just know enough to get around and follow instructions for the most part. I recently started getting the following error when trying to ssh to my armbian box from an up to date macbook. Unable to negotiate with <ip address> port 22: no matching host key type found. Their offer: rsa-sha2-512,rsa-sha2-256,ecdsa-sha2-nistp256,ssh-ed25519 I've read online that you can get around this with "-oHostKeyAlgorithms=+ssh-dss" temporarily, but I cant seem to find a guide on how to regenerate the host keys on armbian to match more current standards (or what I assume is ssh's up to date minimum) Doe…

Hi, My ODROID-HC2 has just arrived and I flashed a SDCard with a fresh Armbian Sketcher fot it. Did the initial configuration, with apt-upgrade and then opened Armbian-config and selected to install OpenmediaVault (the only other things installed are SAMBA and Softether). Hey everyone, I'm eyeing the Orange Pi 6 Plus for some edge AI projects, given its 12-core CIX SoC, up to 28.8 TOPS NPU, and massive RAM options (16/32/64GB LPDDR5). Has anyone gotten Ollama running on it with NPU acceleration? Does it support it out of the box, or do you need to convert models (e.g., to INT4/INT8 formats) using custom tools like rkllama or similar? Additionally, with the higher RAM, can it handle bigger LLMs (like 13B+ models) more smoothly than lower-spec SBCs? Any benchmarks or tips on setups (e.g., Ubuntu/Debian installs, frameworks like MLC-LLM)? I'd love to hear real-world experiences—thanks!

Hey guys, Some questions about LCD interfacing. I have a A20 board and 2 LCD, one 640*480 3.5" (FJ035CI54-R40), one 320*240 3.5" (LQ035NC111, same as bananapi LCD). Hello, starting at Level 0 here. guess I'm just looking for a point in the right direction. want to learn how to install updates. I'm building a multi-zone music streaming setup built around an SBCs running Snapcast/MPD and this MA12070P board (AliExpress link). From the pinout diagrams it looks like the board is the same as the Merus Audio Amp Hat just with a built in USB-C PD supply (why I want to use this board). If it's a clone then it looks like support is in Raspberry Pi OS, but I want to use the Radxa Zero 3W since I can get it at a similar price point with better specs. This is my first embedded project since ~2019 so a bit out of my depth when it comes to device tree overlays. How would I write a DTO to enable audio output to this device?

ENG (GTranslator) Hello friends. I have an Orange Pi Zero v1.1 running perfectly with ARMbian 3.4.113 server and I connect via PUTTY SSH Client. I use the OPI to control a PRUSA Steel 3D printer with the Octoprint program and I am very happy with the results. For reasons of mobility and distance, I came up with the idea of being able to compile Marlin Firmware updates through the OPI Zero. I've searched and everything found is meant to use the Arduino IDE in graphical mode with X-Window. But as you know the ARMbian for the IPO Zero lacks a graphical system and everything moves by terminal. Can you help me with this question? Do you know how to do termi…

Hi all, Semi-noob here so please be patient :) With the OPi Zero having rubbish WiFi I added a USB WiFi adaptor. I know it works as I've been using it on my OPi One running Retrorangepi. The Zero will be running OctoPrint in a room too far away from the router to run Ethernet cables. To initially set it up I connected the Zero to my router, logged in and disabled the onboard wireless adaptor, plugged in the USB and rebooted. Ran armbian-config and set up a static IP (192.168.1.30). Then I shutdown the Zero and unplugged the Ethernet cable and powered up the Zero again. Lan scan shows the IP address as up but ping shows 100% …

I am building a custom image for rpi4b and everything works great so far. I only want to customize the installed packets and configuration, but I do not need a custom kernel. Since building the kernel is what takes by a wide margin most of the image generation time, I was wondering if there's a way to build the image without building the kernel (using the one from the official builds). I have browsed the documentation and found no way, so maybe it is not supported and building the kernel is mandatory?

I have connected matrix led display on max7219 by spi to orangepi. Module max7219 have power supply from 5v. On some during a 220v power failure (sparking between wires suspended on poles), there were some disruptions in the 5v power supply. This damaged the max7219 modules and possible spi port on orange pi. After this failure, the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file contained a fragment of the logrotate file, the kernel on the orange pi is unable to initialize the spi port despite no wires being connected. After connecting a working orange pi to the max7219 module, the problem with spi initialization also appears. Dmesg does not show anything related to spi, there is no /dev…

Greetings! My first foray into Armbian. Apparently the Link Star H68K is hardware equivalent to the Hinlink H68K. I'm trying to install one of the community supported Armbian images (Debian Trixie, Ubuntu 26.04) for the Hinlink onto a Link Star H68K, using the RKDevTool from the Seeed Studio wiki. And failing. I just attempted several builds of Build-Armbian, 5.67 bionic 5.0 rc1 with S9xxx board. None of them will boot. It's almost like it's not reading the DTB right. It just sits at the MXQPro logo screen. I've edited to extlinux.conf and the uEnv.ini and even created a dtb.img but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I've used this same dtb with builds produced by balbes150 and it worked fine. I'm a noob, but I'm not just trying to get this running. I plan to contribute to the project if possible. I was a software engineer in a past life. Any hints in the right direction would be much appreciated. For instance, is there a way to see the boot console so I can se…

Trying to set frequencies and governor for both types of CPUs on this processor. armbian-config sets the max freq and governor correctly for the two big proccesors but no config for little. Tried cpufreq-set for little, but it does not respect governor. If its set to a freq is stays there indefinitely, and if conservative governor is set the max freq goes back to 1.5. How do we set max freq to 1.2 for little, and governor to conservative and have both stick like big does with armbian-config?

hello dear All, first of all - i am very glad to be here in this great forum. i have heard that i can run Armbian on Orange Pi as well. And i have also heard some thing regading H6. The implementation of the PCI Express controller of H 6 is known to be broken. Is it still the case. Is there any extended H6-support through armbian?

Thanks for work on armbian! I've got nanopim4 recently, stable build worked like a charm out of the box (maybe w/o bluetooth) I digged into all build scripts, tried out the dev and even got a step forward. I'm actually ready to support further development with this board See my reports, attempts and links here: https://gist.github.com/razum2um/8e2bfbcffdcdb3a832a4862339330867 Would be glad if @Igor , @chwe or someone else helps with the wifi question there p.s. sorry for posting here, but I'm unable to post into `development` forum section for rk3399

I'm on a Rockpro64 rev2.1 and wanted to use the maximum of the availiable Power of this SoC, so i tried using cpufrequtils and the amrbian config for doing so and noticed two things: I can only set one of my CPU's frequencies and the maximum is 1800 MHz, so i searched this forum for a while and found out how to show the device tree table which is currently loaded(dtc -I fs /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/) and there is one unused mode for both of my CPUs, a 1992 MHz mode for the big chip and a 1512 MHz mode for the small chip, and at this point im stuck. What could i do to load this modes in the cpufrequtils or the armbian config? Spoiler dt…

Hi all, I've been reading a lot about VPU acceleration for h264 decoding and encoding. However, it seems that there is not much regarding transcoding (decoding + encoding). I would be interested in decoding 1080p h264 and encoding it back to 720p h264 in realtime. Ideally having that operation on 2 streams in parallel would be great. I've seen that quite some work has been done in cedrus As I can, h264 decoding seems to be supported but encoding is unclear. And there is obviously no comment about running both operations at the same time. Since I would like to run a few tests and maybe help a bit, what hardware should I order…

I must have some conflicting options, or my understanding of what these options do is wrong. Can someone help? I did a complete image build. Now, I just want to rebuild the kernel. ./compile.sh CLEAN_LEVEL="make" CREATE_PATCHES="yes" BOARD="bananapim2zero" BRANCH="legacy" RELEASE="buster" KERNEL_ONLY="yes" KERNEL_CONFIGURE="no" As I read the documentation, "make" in CLEAN_LEVEL indicates it will "make clean" in the uboot and linux sources. What is the the best reasonably priced camera module for Orangepi models these days? Raspberry has 5 and 8 megapixel camera modules from 7-30 euros. Orangepi has only 2 megapixel cameras. Or has a 5MP cameramode come available for Orangepi also? I've looked at Aliexpress and nothing seems to have changed.

Hi, I installed more than one year ago pi-hole on a Orange Zero, since two/three month the admin panel of pi-hole remind me that there is a new pi-hole version available. I cannot figure out which is the correct way to upgrade it. Will the upgrade be released as a package through the armbian apt repository? I mean, will I get this upgrade with apt-get upgrade sooner or later? Are there other ways to upgrage it? Thanks.

Hey all, New to Armbian, installed to an Orange Pi 5. Installed XRDP - works fine in root (desktop shows) but if I try to do it as a user I just get a black screen with cursor. From searching I can see posts about already being logged in as a user already, and therefore black for privacy but I've not logged in as the user prior? Cant find anything really conclusive explaining how to resolve this Also even in root if I get logged out of desktop (RDP session still active, i.e. desktop lock screen) my root password doesn't work. Password is clearly not wrong

I am trying to figure out how to compile and load the Xradio drivers onto an orange pi zero LTS. I am having some troubles with the xradio drivers that came with my image and am hoping that https://github.com/fifteenhex/xradio will add some improvements. There does seem to be some code change so I am remaining optimistic. I am able to compile the drivers with the kernel from https://github.com/orangepi-xunlong/orangepi-build but it crashes network manager and a few other modules when I try to modprobe it, I am guessing it is because this kernel is not an armbian kernel. I am trying to get the kernel https://github.com/armbian/build to work, but it doesn't look…

Has anyone tried to install PiVPN or EasyRSA on a Rock64? I tried this and had some issues where EasyRSA did not install. No errors were shown on the install or captured in the install log. Took me a while to figure out that EasyRSA was not installed. It even created .opvn files for clients... I finally figured out what happened. Did some research and found a suggestion to manually install some packages BEFORE installing PiVPN. That seems to work, so now I have a working VPN. I just wanted to see if anyone else is having an issue. I will also post on the PiVPN Github site to get their input. Thanks!

Hey there, we are using the Olimex Lime (A20) and the Debian Wheezy image of Igor. Great work. We were wondering what you strategies are concerning updating all relevant system parts (bootloader/kernel/application). Is there any reference implementation that anyone could recommend? We are following the trend of building "Murphy-compatible" (https://www.kernel.org/doc/ols/2005/ols2005v1-pages-21-36.pdf) update mechanisms, but are looking how it is best done. Application wise this can be fairly easy be done via docker - which we are using - but what mechanisms are used for the bootloader itself and the kernel. The should be an atomic update procedure an…

With the Orange Pi Zero 2 (Bullseye), when in Armbian-config I install desktop with browser...it seems working but when you enable the desktop it finished by a kill() in the terminal. You can solve the issue by apt-get install tightdm.after and not before. You will get the desktop for the user and not root. Grey Background with the pinguin. If you install Desktop in Bullseye with Orange Pi One Plus or Orange Pi Zero, no issue. You have the new Debian Desktop with a Background dark blue. Regards F1ATB.fr
