Hi, I have installed Ubuntu Jammy on my Orange pi 5 plus board a while ago, I was wondering if I could upgrade to the new Noble release of armbian for OPI5 plus without having to reinstall the whole image and without breaking the system, I upgraded the kernel to the latest version with no issues, I just wanted to know the correct and safest way of upgrading the Noble release of Armbian. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I've got an Odroid HC2 with Armbian Buster and OMV on it, and the SD card I used it with got corrupted. So I salvaged all the files from it and backups, and restored the whole file structure onto a new SD card, with an ext4 MBR primary partition. Now, my concern is, how can I make this bootable? I can boot the HC2 off a throwaway newly installed Armbian, and access the target SD card through a USB card reader. I could google that armbian-config is used to install the bootloader, but apparently it can only do that to the card which has been used to boot the device in the first place. Any suggestions? thanks

I have compiled OpenCPN Marine Chart plotter and navigation software for the Orange Pi PC with the Mali graphics acceleration. It seems to be working fine. I am trying to document the process and possibly make a prebuilt image available at opencpn.org. http://opencpn.org/ocpn/Install_Orange_pi_Allwinner I am not happy with the name they gave me for the page. And the details at: http://kb7kmo.blogspot.com/2016/04/opencpn-on-orange-pi-allwinner-h3-arm.html My question is how should I reference armbian? And how should I reference the hardware? Since it appears that a number of these boards are very similar and would probably require the same steps on the …

I'm trying to access GPIO through python using the following library: https://github.com/duxingkei33/orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3 Online guides say that for OPi One this should be a plug and play solution. However, for me, the pins dont seem to be mapping properly, running dir(ports) and dir(connector) yields the results shown here All the PAx pins are missing, and the results bare no similarity to the actual pin config found here any help appreciated, Andy

Hi I would like to run my OrangePi +2e with absolute minimum power consumption ie no display, no wifi, reduced clock speed, etc. I only really need ethernet and USB function. When I first set the OrangePi +2e up I ran Armbian Jessie and there was a package that I downloaded from one of the forums that allowed me to manage such things. I can not find this package again. I don't know if it would work with Stretch. The Armbian Config might do this instead? Any help greatly appreciated. Regards Carlos

So I'm trying to debug a 32 bit C compiler circa 1983 that only compiles in 32 bit. I have the compiler working in Linux Ubuntu 18.04 and later with multiverse (32 bit) support installed. I thought to myself PI OS would have to be one the most popular used and supported 32 bit OS, so let's compile and debug the the 32 application in a complete 32 environment. However on the PI OS 32 bit while I have managed to compile to compiler with no issues it doesn't execute and gets seg faults. No problem I can debug it! Except I can't because if I use the debugger via Geany or directly it complains it can't find variables higher up …

Hello. I have been struggling with creating a local build environment that will be guaranteed to work today, next month, next year etc. My hardware is Radxa-Zero and I want to run kernel 6.1.23. Currently I find that the build environment, in various ways, breaks the build over time. I've been chasing a stable build for kernels 6.1.23, 57, 58, 59. The build environment, by default, grabs the latest 6.1.y kernel, which is no good for me. My root FS and DTB are for 6.1.23 and I don't want to keep updating everything just because I need to make some kernel configuration changes. I have tried the BSPFREEZE and OFFLINE_WORK build options but t…

Hello ! I'm trying to make DuetSoftwareFirmware (software to control 3D printers boards using a SBC) working on a OrangePi4B using armbian (The software works well on raspberry pi 3 and 4). It use a SPI interface for data transfer between SBC and the board as well as an extra pin "data transfer ready". I use the pin 22 on the connector for "data transfer ready". This pin is mapped to GPIO1_D0. So GPIO pin number is 56 ( 1 * 32 + 3 * 8 + 0). For now, I'm getting errors because it seems like the pin can't be set into event mode. Hi Guys, I am working with Orange and Banana Pi development boards all with a minimum og 8GB eMMC chips. I am looking for a process to clone a working system to an SD card and using it as a checkpoint for my configuration changes so should I mess things up I can revert to the previous checkpoint. I have used 'dd' in the past but it is considerably bigger than the standard install images and it slows down the recovery process quite a lot. Is there a better way for me to clone the working system to an SD card. Thank you in advance, Rick

Hi everybody, In a project I'm working on, I've added two PCA9535 I/O expanders to use 32 additional inputs on my Nano Pi Neo. I've connected the INT line from both multiplexers to the gpio11 interrupt pin on the Nano Pi Neo, and attached to that a pull-up resistor of 10k. I've used interrupts before, but my question is how to poll both PCA9535 I/O using one interrupt? my DTS when polling one (It works!): /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun4i-a10", "allwinner,sun7i-a20", "allwinner,sun8i-h3", "allwinner,sun50i-a64", "allwinner,sun50i-h5"; fragment@0 { /* This fragment is required only if using interrupts *…

Hello folks, I have completed my Armbian NTP server based on the wonderful little NanoPi Neo3. However something bothers me a bit, i.e. how much delay or latency is in eth0 (It is a 1Gbs port). By checking the default eth0 settings (ethtool -c eth0) I have the parameters below. In particular rx-usec = 327usec means that when a packet is received, the IRQ to alert the CPU can be delayed up to 327usec. With these settings on the nanopi (NTP server) I get about 1msec delay on the NTP client (Windows PC). By cutting the rx-usecs to 35 usecs I get a delay on the client of about 450usec, so a massive improvement and 30% faster than rpi 4. At the mo…

Hello everyone, I have a nanopi r2s running the latest minimal focal image, and I'm having trouble with the network configuration. Context: I have an intranet connected to the LAN port (lan0), and my home network connected to the WAN port (eth0). Hello forumees. I am running as root on an OrangePI Zero+ which uses a H2 processor running a CL version of arrmbian 3.4.113 which works fine. I have recently obtained a SimCom SIM7600CE GSM/GPS module which has only a USB interface. Now trying to install the compiled module is resulting in error messages. I think the problem is compatability with armbian which is beyond my expertise, so I am asking for help. Below is the CL dialog of my attempts to install the module. ```````````````` root@gpsC…

Hello On the bananapi forum I noticed Igor's post (2018/08/22) that is for download image for bananapi m2 ultra. Support is not provided. I have a question about the sound device. This one directly from the SOC R40 is not supported and no one is working on it as. I spied this in the matrix for allwinner. Hello; on OrangePi Zero LTS I have completely stupid values for CPU temperature. They were all reasonable for pre-LTS boards. I have read somewhere that this is a known bug. A kernel patch is probably available, but even if it's the case,I can not update my kernel. Where can I find the algorythm to compensate the value ? It's easier for me to fix the issue in userland code, rather than updating kernel. How can I distinguish between pre-LTS and LTS boards ? Maybe MAC address for LTS are always in a given range ? I have a legacy board with MAC 12:42:98:f9:c8:XX, and a LTS with 12:42:3a:63:04:XX (unfortunately the LTS has a lower MAC :/ does not seem chronologica…

Hi, I started armbian from SD card on a Libre.Computer Le Potato board. Runs like hell and seems much more robust than the Ubuntu 18.04 img that I used before. But how can I get it on my 32 Gb eMMC (5.)??? E.g. the Ubuntu image of Le Potato has a script called ``lc_distro_transfer``. Is there anything similar for armbian? Note: For the Ubuntu image, one has to mount the eMMC after the booting from the SD card has started; kind of ugly, but otherwise the Potato tries to start from the eMMC. Best, Robert

Hello, I just bought a new OrangePi 2g-Iot. I'm a total newbie in embedded linux (I work with embedded microcontroller). What I would like to do is to use some of its peripherals like LCD, modifying the kernel and make some graphics with Armbian and QT. Starting from my first tasks, what are the necessary step to: Enable peripherals Modifying some drivers (like UART, for example I would like to implement the TX enable by hardware) Installing some drivers (like LCD) Thank you, Mattia Berton

I followed instructions here to expose Jupyter notebook over LAN , which had previously worked on Raspbian. However, on Armbian the browser returns ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT. The client is win11. To the best of my knowledge, no firewall (iptables or nftables) is installed. Many thanks for any help Joe ETA: local loopback via lynx (at given IP, not localhost) connects without error

Hi. I'm using CubieTruck with Armbian Jessie, attached with a Sata disk. I have tried these method to run hdparm when the system reboots, but none of them was successful. /etc/hdparm.conf /etc/udev/rules.d/50-hdparm.rules /usr/lib/systemd/system-sleep/hdparm_set Finally, I chose the /etc/rc.local file, and add the hdparm command. hdparm -B 127 -S 242 /dev/sda However, it is not working always. I rebooted several times, and check the APM status with 'hdparm -B /dev/sda', the results vary. Sometimes it shows APM_level = not supported, but some other times APM_level = 127, as I specified. I don't know what was wrong about the command. ** I've found out that hddtemp(…

Hi, I'm using Orange Pi One board for Octoprint, but it's slow sometimes, because of max cpu frequency at 1 GHz. Under full load cpu temp is not higher than 30 °C, so I would like to set higher frequency, but all images looks like their max cpu frequency is just 1 GHz. So, is there any image with higher max cpu frequency? Thanks

Hi, i'm having problems to install and use MysQL ODBC connector in ARMBIAN 5.60 stable Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i. As you know for this version of ubuntu there is no Package 'libmyodbc' installation candidate. So, I downloaded ODBC driver for Ubuntu 16.04 directly with wget https://dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/Connector-ODBC/5.3/mysql-connector-odbc-5.3.11-linux-ubuntu16.04-x86-32bit.tar.gz (32bit as H3 is 32 bits - but same happens with 64 bits too) Copied all libraries (libmyodbc5a.so libmyodbc5S.so libmyodbc5w.so) to folder /usr/local/odbc/lib then create the /etc/odbc.ini file with the following data: [MySQL-a…

Hi, From a quick search of the forum this appears to be happening across different CPUs so I am posting here rather in the H3 forum. Using the current updated legacy version. ARMBIAN 5.36 Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i /var/log/syslog gets repeated messages due to xconsole not being installed. Hello, I would like the ability to run Firefox or Chromuim rather than Gnome or any desktop environment when I start up my Orange Pi 5. This is for a device I'm setting up that (when rebooted) ideally won't even prompt the user to log in, it'll just directly bring up the browser and directly to a specific URL. Any thoughts on how I might do this? David

There is a topic in allwinner subforum about the instability of the kernel 4.14.18 on some allwinner devices. I got that stability issues on my banana pi m1, and notice that the last kernel available on armbian still the 4.14.18. Today I also run apt upgrade on raspberry pi 3 and it installed the kernel 4.14.30 that stop the ipsec vpn working, the same as in 4.14.18 used on armbian. I feel some frustration on the latest kernel updates, and wondering if anyone have some info about the next kernel update that solve this issues. Do you advise me to change to nightly builds to get a new kernel to test?

I wonder if a port is possible and/or feasible, if it is, where can I check? I tried searching on documentations for a guide on how to start a port, but couldn't find anything. If I remember correctly, xiaomi-elish hardware is very related to xiaomi-alioth, to the point of some of the code for PMOS being shared, obviously each hardware has it's quirks but, I think it's possible, i do have the device for testing, and I have some knowledge of programming, but I can learn more in the process.

I had a untested touchscreen device lying in its box , presenting itself as: Bus 006 Device 002: ID 0eef:0001 D-WAV Scientific Co., Ltd eGalax TouchScreen The driver provided on their site (https://www.eeti.com/drivers_Linux.html) complains that the controller is non-HID and reverts back the installation. I tried it manually with no success. I'm using an OPi PC Plus to build a Home Assistant machine. Does anyone have pointers for this for Armbian? Hello everyone. I'm using the latest version of armbian for the NanoPi R2S. I noticed that the board has 4 exposed GPIO ports on the board. I'm interested in using the RX1 and TX1 and use it for the UART interface. It seems I cannot use it. It might be disabled by default.
