Hi, I started armbian from SD card on a Libre.Computer Le Potato board. Runs like hell and seems much more robust than the Ubuntu 18.04 img that I used before. But how can I get it on my 32 Gb eMMC (5.)??? E.g. the Ubuntu image of Le Potato has a script called ``lc_distro_transfer``. Is there anything similar for armbian? Note: For the Ubuntu image, one has to mount the eMMC after the booting from the SD card has started; kind of ugly, but otherwise the Potato tries to start from the eMMC. Best, Robert

Hello. First, I have an LTS board that provides only 3.05 on the 3.3 pins. Is it normal ? Anyway, in case this was the issue, I have built a new voltage regulator, and now supply the DHT22 and pullup resistor with 3.60V My issue is simple: when plugged on normal 1W bus, the DHT22 kills the bus, and makes other devices non working. I have moved all other devices on a new bus, leaving the DHT on a bus I know works fine. Some people mentionned the DHT is not compliant with official 1W libraries, and can not be recognised with normal timings, so, special libs are required. I have removed param_w1_pin=PA06 for the hysical pin 7, and installe…

What is the recommended way to back up a user's *.img? I ask b/c I crashed the OS (Debian 11 Xfce) after a number of hours by upgrading via Synaptic -- don't know which of the upgrade group did the damage. It was a major pain to go back through everything I had done. I tried the very nice script "image-backup" from the image-utils developed by user RonR on the RPi Forum, but it complains about the wrong Partition config. Is there a method that is known to work? TIA

I want to mount and customize the installation images with ssh keys, static IP address, etc, and to skip the initial script offered at login by the CLI images. I've installed the latest Armbian Bookworm Cinnamon desktop image to the EMMC of the Banana Pi M5, but it does not display anything on the HDMI output after startup. Here's what happens when I start the system: - Starts loading the kernel (I can see the startup messages) - Shows the "Armbian" loading screen (with the spinning icon) - Switches back to the startup messages for a bit - Shows a black screen with a single "_" in the top left corner - After a few seconds my screen says that there is "No Signal" The Banana Pi still seems to be running, I can see the lights. Any idea what happens and how to fix it? …

Hello I flashed EDK2 to SPI and I am able to enter the UEFI menu and change things, but it seems that u-boot takes over the boot process to actually boot the kernel. I also built a custom resolute image using the command below which I flashed to SDCard: Then I added a Grub entry for the SDCard image with this custom build but when I boot it it shows that u-boot is being used not UEFI. The default Grub boot is from emmc with an EFI FAT32, /boot EXT4, and / F2FS which is armbian trixie, and it works well - but with u-boot so I am trying to test how booting via pure UEFI will work so I can migrate to a pure UEFI se…

I am using an Orange pi win plus (Allwinner A64, 2GB ram), running Armbian Bionic with Linux 5.3.9-sunxi64 The board has an 2MB on-board spi flash and I want to flash bootloader in it. The spi flash can be correctly detected in the system (showing /dev/mtdblock0). But the "install" tool in armbian-config can't install the bootloader into the flash. When I selected "Install/Update the bootloader on SPI Flash" and confirmed the warning notice, the tool printed "OK" immidiately and there is actually nothing written to the flash. After using "sudo bash -x armbian-config", I found the tool executed a command: dd if=/usr/lib/linux-u-bo…

Hello, I just bought a new OrangePi 2g-Iot. I'm a total newbie in embedded linux (I work with embedded microcontroller). What I would like to do is to use some of its peripherals like LCD, modifying the kernel and make some graphics with Armbian and QT. Starting from my first tasks, what are the necessary step to: Enable peripherals Modifying some drivers (like UART, for example I would like to implement the TX enable by hardware) Installing some drivers (like LCD) Thank you, Mattia Berton

I'm trying to follow the Armbian Quick Start Guide, specifically the section "How to install to eMMC, NAND, SATA & USB?". It says to run nand-sata-install and I'll be able to choose to set up to "boot from eMMC / NAND, system on SATA / USB", which is what I want (to boot from NAND and have the system on USB). What I get on screen though is not what I expect. I see a menu that has two option 1. Boot from SD - system on SATA, USB or NVMe 5. Install/Update the bootloader on SD/eMMC Why don't I get the option to set up to boot from NAND (which I guess might be option 3, going by the documentation)? cubieboard 2, …

Hello, I've been using the Banana Pi M2 Ultra for 2 years now as a mini 24/7 server with NAS and wireguard functionality etc. I started with a Crucial MX500 1TB SSD connected with the SATA interface and formatted as ext4, but not as OS partition, just for data. Hello I've previously build and deployed an armbian image for a pinecube using "bionic" which used kernel version 5.10.60. I have recently tried to build and deploy a new image, but the kernel is now 5.10.72 which wouldn't normally be a problem, but I have found that I've not been able to get gstreamer and some of it's dependacies installed. Is it possible to specify a particular kernel version when I'm building an armbian image, in if so how do I do it? Thanks in advance Andrew

Hi all! I just received a NanoPi R4S, and I got a 128GB microSDXC for it. I loaded the rk3399-sd-friendlywrt-21.02-20220721 image onto it using win32diskimager. I put the SD card in, plugged in a USB-C, and let it setup for a few minutes. When it seemed ready, I plugged my laptop into the LAN port and went to its page. I logged in, all looked good. After setting a password, I tried changing some of the LAN and WAN settings, and the page stopped loading. I waited, but nothing happened. As as how I couldn't give a proper shutdown command, I disconnected the power and plugged back in. The NanoPi then booted, but the Sys light k…

Hi, I'm trying to use ZFS but the kernel I'd like to use doesn't support loadable modules. The version is 22.08.4 at the moment (5.10.147) Can I use zfs-dkms on linux-image-current-meson64? And I'm curious why loadable modules are not supported by default for linux-image-current-meson64, is it same with every model? or probably Odroid-HC4 is one of the models in which loadable modules are not build by default? System diagnosis information: https://paste.armbian.com/ezisijedob Thank you, Gunwoo Gim

Hi. I'm using CubieTruck with Armbian Jessie, attached with a Sata disk. I have tried these method to run hdparm when the system reboots, but none of them was successful. /etc/hdparm.conf /etc/udev/rules.d/50-hdparm.rules /usr/lib/systemd/system-sleep/hdparm_set Finally, I chose the /etc/rc.local file, and add the hdparm command. hdparm -B 127 -S 242 /dev/sda However, it is not working always. I rebooted several times, and check the APM status with 'hdparm -B /dev/sda', the results vary. Sometimes it shows APM_level = not supported, but some other times APM_level = 127, as I specified. I don't know what was wrong about the command. ** I've found out that hddtemp(…

I'm currently running Armbian Ubuntu Xenial Server on a Cubietruck, it works very well, thanks for all the effort! I recently bought a Raspberry Pi 3, installed some of the available images and found them kind of disappointing. The RPI2 and RPI3 both support ARMv7, which should make it reasonably easy to run Armbian Ubuntu images on it. Any chance of getting RPI2/3 support in the future? I would be willing to test work. Thanks!

From time to time I want to change the SDcards on my boards, for one reason or another. So, in order to transfer the Armbian filesystem I dd from the first sdcard and later dd to the second, a very slow process. I think it would be faster to: Partition and mkfs the new sdcard Copy/tar/rsync the armbian filesystem But no board won't boot that sdcard. So I'm missing a crucial step, maybe it has something to do with u-boot?

Hi, I'm using an Odroid C2 with 8 DVB-C/T (6x TechnoTrend TT-TVStick CT2-4400 and 2xTECHNOTREND TT-connect CT2-4650). Those DVB-C are connected via 2x 4 ports USB 3.0 which are connected in USB C2 ports. The problem is that if I'm using 4 or maximum 5 DVB-C, Odroid C2 has a CPU usage about 30-40% from 400%, so pretty low usage. Now the issues are starting: if I'm trying to start another DVB-C or if I'm doing for example something which uses high CPU suddenly Odroid C2 is rebooting. This is the first thing. The second thing is that the DVB_SKY_2 seems to crash when the mumudvb is starting on a DVB device. The third issue is that I can't change …

My goal is to use Radxa Rock3a with a large 3.5inch HDD as a first step. Works fine if I use a M.2 E-key adapter which connects on the PCIe2.0 x1 lane and provides SATA via a JMB 5-port chip (only 2 connectors, support is in U-boot default Armbian build 2024.10). Worked also if I use an overlay included in early 6.1.84-vendor-rk35xx builds that maps RK3568 SATA onto the PCIe2.0 M.2 connector traces/signals, but now the whole 6.1.84-vendor-rk35xx ends in panic. I have not looked at exact changes (it is from the beta channel), but it was working with trunk.x and now installed variant is from trunk.y. I might not be able to find exact numbers for x and …

Hello, Today I found that the "serial-getty@ttyS0.service" service restarts every minute. It says "serial-getty@ttyS0.service: Succeeded." in the syslog/journal and then starts again, so it exited with code 0. The restart counter is already at 3085, so it's been like that for 2 days. No output is logged from the service itself. So I looked up its start command and ran it interactively. Again, with no output, after a minute, it returned with code 0. So I straced that thing and saw that it did lots of things, then print "Password:" somewhere, wait a while and then print "Login timed out after 60 second" and exit with code 0. strace /sbin/a…

Hello! I wanted to install the Armbian 26.2.1 Minimal / IOT to an Ordoid HC2 (using the XU4 distro). Download ok - sha hash is ok - balena etcher ok - startup - ok. Problem: When I log in the first time with "root", the "1234" as first password is not accepted. Also, PUTTY warns that ths ssh of the armbian uses only "Diffie-hellmann-group1-sha1" which (for PUTTY) is a bit unsecure. Any idea about the password issue?

Hello, Thanks for armbian on Banana PI, it is really wonderful compared to official releases. I installed the image "Armbian_community_26.2.0-trunk.904_Bananapim2ultra_trixie_current_6.18.29_minimal.img.xz" on my Banana PI M2 Berry (there is no image for this type), and all is working wonderfully well ... except rebooting or shutting down the Banana PI. When typing reboot, all services stop but the screen blocks on systemd-shutdown[1]: Rebooting. and it never reboots. It does the same for shutdown, stuck on same kind of message. Could you help me please ? Regards

i've noticed swap is not being used on my armbian system (in this case, it is a Banana Pi R1). I tried to dig deeper and spent several hours looking into a cause and cannot find any way to resolve. I updated everything yesterday to ensure there was no issue with a known bug in a previous package. $ uname -a Linux raspberrypi 4.9.7-sunxi #1 SMP Thu Feb 2 01:52:06 CET 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux I have my swap located on a 2.5" HD that is attached. It is on the /u01 mounted partition as a swap file. I tried creating a second just to eliminate that is a file issue (using mkswap) and trying to activate it. Both files will activate and show in use, but % swap always r…

Hello, I thought there is dphys-swapfile so I tried to disable it. sudo dphys-swapfile swapoff sudo dphys-swapfile uninstall sudo update-rc.d dphys-swapfile disable But dphys-swapfile is not installed for swap file. How can I disable swap in armbian completely? Is it enough to just remove this line "/var/swap none swap sw 0 0" from fstab?

Hello. Sorry, I am Russian and have no money for a strong computer. I have only a tablet PC, but I really want to learn Linux (and at the same time try it). So I am trying to install Armbian build on my tablet (Texet TM-9751HD). The most suitable build (mainline Kernel 4.19) is "Bananapi M2" (but it was loaded only with the "yones-toptech-bs1078-v2.dtb", so I was able to get a prompt # - suggestion to log in, where I must input login/password). The problem is that the tablet has only one micro-usb port, which works as charging and OTG. The keyboard works fine under Android, but doesn't respond at the prompt. Also, I tried the old Kernel(3.4) and the original Scrip…

Hi, I'm using Orange Pi One board for Octoprint, but it's slow sometimes, because of max cpu frequency at 1 GHz. Under full load cpu temp is not higher than 30 °C, so I would like to set higher frequency, but all images looks like their max cpu frequency is just 1 GHz. So, is there any image with higher max cpu frequency? Thanks

Hello. I'm running "Armbian 20.11.6 Focal" on an Odroid-C2 board. Today, after an "apt-get update" and "apt-get upgrade", the OS name changed from "Armbian 20.11.6 Focal" to "Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS". The changes has been done from the package "11ubuntu5.3" (https://launchpadlibrarian.net/519827877/base-files_11ubuntu5.2_11ubuntu5.3.diff.gz) on the files "/etc/issue" and "/etc/issue.net". Well, is that a problem under an "Armbian" point of view? Should I replace "Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS" with "Armbian 20.11.6 Focal" on the files "/etc/issue" and "/etc/issue.net"? Thanks.

Minor tweak. I don't have gethostname() (Actually I think that's a C function, not an executable.) Anyway my Rock64 didn't show up my wifi network by name. In /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf I changed: #send host-name = gethostname(); send host-name = $HOSTNAME; Now it works. And $HOSTNAME is just whatever's in /etc/hostname so you may need to change it if you've got 2 or more machines of the same kind. I mostly lug around a cell phone and I can ftp or ssh to rock64 from anywhere in the house.

pine64 products have sloppy DC connectors. This connector simply detaches from the motherboard. I use in production pine64 pine64-lts pineH64 and rock64. As a result of switching on and off the dc connector, in each case it has peeled off and does not hold power. I've attached the DC connector with glue but that's not what the factory mount. The low price now goes sideways. workmanship worse than nonopi.

Hi, i'm having problems to install and use MysQL ODBC connector in ARMBIAN 5.60 stable Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i. Hello, I'm planning to replace my old (but very good) Banana PI (the first model, it should be called M1 if I remember). I basically use it as my personal cloud server, for some remote daily backups and for messing things up Now I'd like to replace it with something newer and maybe I'll use the Banana just for experimental purpose. So I searched the internet but can't find something that really fits my needs, maybe somebody with more knowledge than me can give me an advice. It should have, at least: - SATA (which is a feature I can't find in many boards ) - Gigabit Ethernet (a must) - USB 3 (at least 1 port) - 1 GB of RAM (2 are b…

Hello there, My board had just rebooted with no notice, so I wanted to take a look at /var/log/syslog in order to diagnose the issue, but for some reason, there are no logs between Dec 30 and the moment my board rebooted. Why are logs missing? What do I need to do in order to keep them the next time my board reboots? Also, am I looking at the right place to diagnose reboots? Thanks for you help! PS1: My board is the Helios64 and I'm running Armbian 20.11.4 Buster with OMV 5. PS2: I know there is an Helios64 Club, though I did not choose to post there as I'm not sure if this issue is specific to that board.

Hi. This video (Raspberry Pi 4 RAM Upgrade - Tutorial) is about upgrading Pi RAM from 1GB to 8GB, and it is inspired me to investigate possibility to do this for other boards. If anyone has any ideas and knowledge, please share it with us. I personally interested in NanoPi NEO4 with RK3399 CPU and with 1GB RAM Schematic for looking at RAM and board wiring. RAM consist of 2 512Mb chips on one channel (second channel on this board is not used) RAM Chips: K4B4G1646E-BCMA 4Gbit(4096bit/8=512Mb) DDR3-1866 96Ball FBGA. CPU supports DDR3, DDR3L, LPDDR3, LPDDR4. There are at least 1GB DDR3 chips out there. (not sure about 2GB, and probably no 4GB) …

Hi, No matter if I run the "sudo reboot" command or use the restart option from Gnome desktop, the Orange Pi 5 is not rebooting. the version number of zfsutils-linux was too low for the new version of zfs-dkms. So I downgraded zfs-dkms but the recent version of linux kernel was too high for the old version of zfs-dkms. I tried armbian-config to change the version of the kernel down to 6.6 from 6.12.18 but somehow it just repeatedly tried to build dkms modules for 6.12.18 again and again so I just gave up using armbian-config. Hi all, yesterday I updated my system (Banana Pi) to the latest version (5.15, legacy-kernel) with apt-get update && apt-get upgradeAfter the upgrade the fixed-IP for the device was gone. It looks like the link /etc/network/interfaces has been overwritten with a new file during the upgrade - so I had to set up fixed IP again in /etc/network/interfaces like described here: http://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#how-to-set-fixed-ip For the future I suggest changing the the upgrade-script so that the fixed IP is not overwritten. Additionally I think it would be good to write a short note in the changelog that the setting might be gone after the up…

Since I was looking up which boards would make a proper NAS and home automation hub, I figured I might as well summarize the options in a post. Requirements for a proper NAS: Gigabit Ethernet SATA that is not a crappy USB->SATA chip Armbian-supported That last one is because otherwise the options are much more numerous and scattered, and the previous requirements become vague (e.g., you could even just take out a netbook's motherboard and run it standalone). Also, you could use an A80 board (USB 3.0) but I believe none are supported by Armbian, same goes for R40 (has SATA), so this leaves us with these A20 boards that also have GbE: _______________________…

I have used them from long time, before I move to armbian, they work on openwrt without any problem , some of the machines was with uptime half a year and scripts never stop working. After I move to armbian, I noticed they stop from time to time. usually after 4-5 days of running. Script is run with output redirected to /dev/null There is no trace why script is stop working in the logs, so I run it in screen terminal and detach, it works more than a week without failing ........... is there a better way to see what is going on?
