  5. I am currently working on a Development Board based on RK3288. We are using Rockchip kernel as mentioned here https://github.com/rockchip-linux/kernel This uses libdrm (DRI) for its rendering purposes. But it has limitations. Only one CRTC is connected out of 2. It provides 8 planes, out of which only 4 are available for the working CRTC, out of which user available OVERLAY planes are only 2, and out of which only 1 Plane supports NV12 rendering. I need to show 2-4 videos simultaneously, can anyone help me here on how to procure more planes, particularly NV12 compatible OVERLAY type, that can be connected to the working CRTC?

I tried to install armbian but with the nand-install-sata script I can't install it on my eMMC memory, since armbian doesn't see i have one. The only thing it offers me is to update the bootloader on the SD card. So i went to /dev/ and my eMMC memory isn't shown there. I just have mmcblk1 witch is my SD card and mmcblk0p1 wich is my armbian partition on the SD card and nothing else. I figured this was due to the fact that maybe this version of armbian didn't support emmc memory, so I tried with the foca…

  12. Hi, I am trying to determine whether this is expected behavior or a bug/ordering issue in Armbian's armbian-ramlog. My /etc/systemd/journald.conf contains: Storage=persistent SystemMaxUse=20M Persistent journal storage is available: /var/log/journal -> /var/log.hdd/journal and /var/log.hdd is mounted read-write. However, after every reboot, systemd-journald initially writes to /run/log/journal. I verified this directly: sudo ls -l /proc/$(pidof systemd-journald)/fd | grep journal Immediately after boot I get: 33 -> /run/log/journal/d1d6e2a49fd24499b90cb6d5198cb70e/system.j…

So, my first question is about kernel version. Can armbian run under 3.4.39 kernel? https://github.com/BPI-SINOVOIP/BPI-M3-bsp To make build reproducible I need to fork this repo and made modifications of the file tree. As I know, Banana Pi M3 now can boot under mainline uboot. Also, there are some binary blobs to support GPU on this board, and I want to try those packages to get hardware acceleration. 29. A month or two back, when I installed Armbian, I had to revert to an older kernel, 5.10.63-rockchip64, which has known vulnerabilities. I needed to be able to boot off of a USB 3 HDD, so I had to revert it and hold updates for the kernel/kernel headers. Hi Guys, I'm new on Armbian but not on Linux in general. I was pleased to see an up-to-date armbian release for my nanopi-r4s with a kernel greater than 6.x ! 🤗 For my first day, it's pretty good and I can find most of the things I was looking for (even ripgrep). But, I have a look at the services and I've found that haveged is still set. For what I know, since 5.18 version, "Linus" changed his mind for entropy (see https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linux-5.18-RNG). You can have a look at /proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail which is always set to 256 now. Thanks again and best regards !

  33. Hi, Just something I have found, not sure if this is an 'issue' but it definitely caught me out and took a while to figure out and fix. I have several armbian machines (Odroid C2, BananaPi Pro) all running Jessie or Stretch and all working fine. A recent project of mine (using Armbian on a BPi Pro) was to build a Pi-Hole DNS. Some time after doing that I noticed that none of the Armbian machines would successfully run 'apt update' whilst other unix machines including a RPi running raspbian were all fine. DNS config was fine, I could see requests hit the Pi-Hole and be answered. nslookup / dig on the armbian machines all worked fine b…

As an alternative I've been looking at Armbian, and decided to try the images supplied here: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc-plus/ . I had a problem with both: -The Ubuntu image always reboot as soon as the gui loads. I don't think it power related, since I'm using a 3A power supply and that's more than what is recommended. -The Debian image doesn't allow me to connect to the internet. Also I've made mods on DAC's board - Raspberry has PCM at other pins. But SPDIF still not working. I suppose, that WM8804 is in software mode, so I have to config it via IIC. 60. Hello. I am wondering if anyone here has Xenomai working for Amlogic platforms? I'm particularly interested in applying Xenomai to Le Potato/Sweat Potato. According to them, Xenomai is current and working for the Amlogic S905X3 (Odroid C4), though I have failed to find any source, patches, or images for that board. As far as I can tell, aside from some minor performance improvements here and there, the Odroid C4's SoC layout is very comparable to what the Potato boards have. So I only expect minor changes, if anything, to go from that SoC to the Potato's SoC. Xenomai's own guide to porting the dovetail interface is pretty good; I'll do that if I have too. I…

  73. Hello. I'm running "Armbian 20.11.6 Focal" on an Odroid-C2 board. Today, after an "apt-get update" and "apt-get upgrade", the OS name changed from "Armbian 20.11.6 Focal" to "Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS". The changes has been done from the package "11ubuntu5.3" (https://launchpadlibrarian.net/519827877/base-files_11ubuntu5.2_11ubuntu5.3.diff.gz) on the files "/etc/issue" and "/etc/issue.net". Well, is that a problem under an "Armbian" point of view? Should I replace "Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS" with "Armbian 20.11.6 Focal" on the files "/etc/issue" and "/etc/issue.net"? Thanks.

In /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf I changed: #send host-name = gethostname(); send host-name = $HOSTNAME; Now it works. And $HOSTNAME is just whatever's in /etc/hostname so you may need to change it if you've got 2 or more machines of the same kind. I mostly lug around a cell phone and I can ftp or ssh to rock64 from anywhere in the house.

Unfortunately, the input of special characters (é, ñ, ü, ß) doesn't work. The letters appear as UTF code. However, the letters are displayed correctly in chromium/midori/firefox, and the console. Thus, I blame Qt. This is very annoying e.g. for webmailing and editing text, since typing in languages with special characters such as Spanish and German is practically impossible.
