Hi, image-copied xenical desktop 5.35 img for my OrangePi Lite. Everything went OK, but after enabling $ sudo armbian-config -> Switch to standard login manager, whenever I logout, SSHd, x11vncd stops. Pinging doesn't get answer from OrangePi Lite. All I have to do is connect keyboard to OrangePI Lite USB port to type in the login password by hand. Then, everything comes up again. Please help.

Hi there, Is there a way to make an automatic switch between AV and HDMI when HDMI connector is connected/disconnected? ie By default AV composite signal is ON, if HDMI is detected while booting, then video and sound are output to HDMI instead of AV/L/R output. I read that if both TV out and HDMI are enable at the same time it can result in artifacts on HDMI and for that reason TV was disabled by default. So is there a way to detect if HDMI is plugged in, and if so disable TV out. I would say it needs 2 .bin files with each config, but how to detect if HDMI is present before loading .bin and load the right .bin according to situation? …

There are already several boards with the small SPI flash installed. This is perfect for the u-boot storage. Than the board starts from this SPI flash and looks for the /boot folder on SD card and USB storage. I've moved the system from the SD to USB HDD included the /boot folder and removed the SD card. When I power-on the board, the HDD starts and everything works fine. But when rebooted, the HDD is suspended at the shutdown end and the u-boot doesn't wait until it starts again and the booting fails as "No USB storage found". Is there any way how to disable the HDD suspend in the system? I was looking around how to disable this function somehow in the HDD itself ( Maxto…

UPDATE: Today I build it again and now it's working, I think someone has change something. Thank you :-) OLD: I created an new board, based on the lime-a33.conf with BOOTCONFIG="q8_a33_tablet_1024x600_defconfig" and build a Debian Stretch Image with mainline Kernel 4.13 / 4.14. The SD Card is booting with a nice screen output but only to Kernel Boot, then the screen freezes. The Serial connection is only in the SD Adapter and I cant use it if I'm booting from it, or is there a possibility ?? I was checking devuan.org and this Image is booting the Tablet, with Kernel 4.1x. So I want to debug the Armbian Kernel wit…

Hi folks, I'm running armbian on a Banana Pi 1st generation, so far no probs. Indeed it runs very stable. The armbian is a debian jessie. Is it possible or recommended to update to stretch via the official debian upgrade path ? The armbian is fully updated Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.36 user-built Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.13.16-sunxi I'm running an nginx php stack on the BaPi. But what about stretch ? Can I do a dist-upgrade ? Sorry if this has already been discussed. Thanks in advance for replies :-)

Hi I am trying to prepare SD card that I will be able to copy the same image to several boards: - I have my final OS on EMMC of "mother" board(installed with nand-sata-install), - copy os to SD card using dd if=...of=.., so I got .img file How to clone emmc content to another boards? I know I can use nand-sata -install (preprare my final OS on SD card and the copy to all boards), but it is not quick way. Raw copy is much faster. Any ideas? Of course dd if=my.img of=/emmc does not work - some problem with boot.

Hello Armbian Community, As you can see by my post count, I am new to Armbian, but so far have found it to be an amazing resource, and truly appreciate the hard work you all do. Its really impressive, and your knowledge and understanding of SBC’s is incredible. I am attempting to get Armbian working on a custom A64 device that was originally designed to be used as a Point-of-sale machine, that runs Android. I understand I am venturing into uncharted territory here, and this is absolutely not supported, but it’s a fun project and I am learning a ton. I am asking for help, but realize none may be available. Here is the hardware I have in hand. …

Hello, I just installed Armbian on my Tinker board. I use the internal wifi and another wifi usb dongle (static ip). The wifi usb receives a name wlx**** in ifconfig and the internal wifi module has wlan0. I want to have wlan1 instead of wlx***. So I checked https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/PredictableNetworkInterfaceNames/ Tried the option using dev/null and setting the net.ifnames parameter. I tried in /boot/ArmBianEnv.txt to set net.ifnames=0 parameter. Nothing works. Would be happy, if someone knows how to change this on Armbian. Thank you very much

Good evening! Is there anyone experience in installing the drivers for this device? The official website has the driver vga2usb-3.30.2.10-raspbian-4.4.11-v7+-arm.deb which apparently is rigidly attached to the core. Does anyone have any ideas on installation?

Hi! I've been interested in getting a SBC for a while now and I've done a bit of “researching” during the past two weeks. I'm getting quite frustrated searching for the right one since every board seems to have a list of disadvantages which I probably don't fully understand. I also am not sure what processor/specs would be fit for my needs. The Armbian community seems to be very productive and helpful so I'm asking you to please aid me with your SBC suggestions based on the description below. My wishes a) File server: * (High priority) To run (audio) server software (Logitech Media Server/Squeezebox Server) that serves files (flac) to a net…

Hi, I own a Orange PI Plus 2 with SATA support. Until now without success I tried to migrate from a SD boot / HDD root setup, which is my current well working situation, to a SD boot / SSD root setup. I created two partitions on the SSD created a swap device on sda1 and root device on sda2 like on the HDD. Performed mkswap on /dev/sda1 and copied the HDD root filesystem to the SSD root file system to be /dev/sda2 using ' find . -print | cpio -pdvm' on a spare laptop with two SATA ports. I even copied the UUID from the root partition of the HDD to the root partition of the SSD. Next I configured the system by changing the root device in armbianEnv.t…

Thank you for everything you’ve done. Armbian is amazing. On Raspberry PI devices, it’s possible to pass parameters to the kernel at boot-up and force certain IO pins to go high as soon as shutdown is complete. It’s along the lines of “dtoverlay=gpio-poweroff,gpiopin=xx”. I’m guessing that GPIO-POWEROFF is a kernel overlay, that it’s specific to Raspbian, and that Armbian may have a similar overlay. What’s the best way to discover the name of Armbian’s corresponding overlay, please? That overlay would enable me to configure the relevant single-board computer to send a signal at shutdown, a signal that would cause the charging/power circ…

Hi, I need wifi working on an A20 board. Managed to compile the driver and change coherent_pool value to 2M and made everything work when booting from the SD card. After that I made a nand install using the nand_sata_install.sh script with minor modifications (partition+sizes). The system boots and everything is working right except the modprobe -v st7601Usta fails with exec format error. Dmesg says: st7601Usta: disagrees about version of symbol module_layout Recompiling the driver and reinstalling it does nothing. As I understand the nand_sata_install script uses the same linux image only converted from zImage to uImage. Shouldn't the…

Hi All. As you may have read at my HDMI post, I have tried two different OpiPC images, the default one here, and the current RetrorangePi. On the first one, I used this tutorial: and it worked perfectly, well almost. I got some errors because the usbids isn't on here, nor is modprobe. But it worked. Then I tried the retro image and went back to do the same process, but no matter what I do I can't see to get rid of error messages. I've tried to put ARCH=ARM and arm. I've tried TARGET=LINUX. None of the tips out there seem to work. pi@RetrOrangePi:/usr/src/DPO_MT7601U_LinuxSTA_3.0.0.4_20130913$ sudo make ARCH=arm make -C tools …

Greetings everyone! I'm having some issues with my Armbian installation. I have an Orange Pi PC 2 (64 bit H5 SoC). I followed the procedure for installing Armbian on my Sd card (reliable one, recently bought as new) using Etcher (so errors won't occur). The SSH daemon works, nmap lists port 22 as open, yet whenever I try to ssh to root ("root@10.42.0.1", where 10.42.0.1 is the IP given by the shared wired network to this connection) even after I wait like 10 minutes or so, it doesn't work (Permission denied). Thing is I don't own a keyboard and a HDMI cable, or UART cable, so I went for this "headless" approach. I know it's possible, but SSH won't …

The espressobin has three ethernet ports. In Ubuntu Armbian, left to right (looking into the ports), they're called "lan1", "lan0", and "wan". The weird thing is that you can't bring them up until you've *first* brought up eth0, which is not associated with a physical port. This causes all kinds of havoc trying to use /etc/network/interfaces/, because it takes a couple of seconds for eth0 to come up, in which time the other interfaces have already failed. 1) What is this mysterious eth0? 2) My attempts to bridge lan0 and lan1 from .../interfaces have failed. Got an example you can give me?

Partition starts at sector 2048. Here are my SD cards details: current (source) fdisk -l /dev/sde Disk /dev/s…

Hello guys I know that this image is still under development and probably there are lots of more important things to do. but this problem bothering me for weeks. I am trying to create a hotspot using rtl8188cus the one in the armbian-config didn't work I have used different methods searching the net now I am using this driver: https://github.com/pvaret/rtl8192cu-fixes and the hostapd-realtek which is in apt.armbian.com (the one armbian-config installs) and now I am getting the following error: wlan1: interface state UNINITIALIZED->COUNTRY_UPDATE ioctl[RTL_IOCTL_HOSTAPD]: Operation not supported wlan1: Could not connect to kernel driver +rtl871x_st…

Hi! Yesterday i upgraded ugly Chinese linux to Armbian 16.04 LTS and tested h3control on it. All, except daemon installer, worked fine. Now daemon installer had been fixed. I need any help in testing of it on H3/H2/H5 boards with legacy/mainline kernels. h3control - is a headless daemon/console tool to check and control CPU, DDR frequency and built-in temperature sensor via embedded http-server. It distinguishes from Armbian tools (h3's consumption and monitor): It doesn't rely on particular linux distribution. The only prerequisite is a mono. It tested with mono from 3.2.8 (released in Feb 2014) to 5.4 (current stable). It is a web a…

Greetings, I recently changed from an old loboris ubuntu distribution to armbian for my opi PC. I never had problems with it, it was just not getting updates for a long time since it's old and not a LTS. I never had problems with openvpn also.. installing from apt and creating ca's and users was a breeze. Now with armbian i simply cannot get it to work, i tried both with apt and compiling the latest version from source. I cannot get it to start. Doing systemctl start openvpn Job for openvpn.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status openvpn.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details. journalctl -xe -- …

Hi guys! I've a project with raspberry pi B+ and a usb modem for communication with server. Is a unattended system but I've many problems with communication cuts and memory card corrupted. Communications is not important issue, because isn't a real time system, and I manage the cuts with own scripts. In the other hand, the memory card corruption is a damn headache. I think that problem is caused by the model B+ because I've other similar project with model A+ and I haven't this problem. The reason for my question is that I'm looking for alternatives to the raspberry pi B+. I tested Orange Pi 2G-IOT, but is very unestable and I discard it. What borad…

It says 4.13.x in nightly kernel builds but i cant still enable g_hid. In this link it says 4.12 would bring usb otg support for h3 boards. Am i wrong? If its still not supported and wont get implemented soon what should i do to implement it? I also read that g_hid should work in legacy kernel but it didnt work with lastest legacy kernel either. I am trying to get it working for a few weeks now my whole project is stopped because of this. Its would bring me joy if i could get it working. Thank you

Good morning everyone, I'm trying to find the script.bin file in my nanopi M1 in order to change HDMI resolution but untill now it has been impossible to find it. I'm using the debian that provides friendlyarm in version 3.4xxx (the one attached to in the page). I've been using all I commands and modes that I know, even show hidden files and nothing I know this is not a conventional linux device (its a development platform with a ARM Alwinner H3 processor in it) but since it has debian jessie, I think somone can help me find where the HDMI config files are. when I use find, it shows this: root@FriendlyELEC:/# find / -name script*.bin root@FriendlyELE…

Hello, this question is not armbian specific but I am dealing with it while using armbian. I have 8GB microsd card but my armbian is using just 1.5GB on it. Now I need to clone/copy this card. I use win32diskimager (on windows) but disadvantage this approach is, that it makes bytedata image file (all 8GB of the whole microsd card even with blank space) but my data have 1.5GB only. Is there any utility/software which makes image with 1.5GB only? I mean when I burn 8GB image size after that to another microsd card, it takes 5x more time to finish as if I could burn just 1.5GB image. I think it must be able to do it somehow, because armbian images has abou…

Hello, With NanoPI-m2 (debian jessie) and OrangePI-PC (ubuntu xenial) at hand, I try to detect states of hdmi and audio jack (plugged in or not). With nanopi I can get the hdmi state from syslog kern messages (HDMI HPD State 0x0 or 0x1, according to it's plugged in or not), but I haven't found something like that on Orange PI. And I've found no way to recognize if the audio jack is plugged in or not. Any suggestion, howto get that, will be greatly appreciated.

Hiya, Goal: Ok so I'm after a high speed synchronous serial interface (50mhz would be nice) with reasonably flexible clocking options so I can tweak it up and down. The goal is to implement a "fast as possible" SWD debug interface to a Cortex M0; ideally the serial interface could be run arbitrarily fast until the target M0 or the wiring can't handle it. If can do 48mhz I can basically read/write one 32-bit word per microsecond over swd, so 4MB/sec, and I want to process that a little and send it to a PC (obviously ethernet). I especially care about consistent, gap-free, no jitter on this serial interface. So SPI is the obvious choice but I'm…

Hi everybody, One really simple question: I got to work with wvdial and establish a ppp connection with OPi 2g-IoT but now I would like to initiate the board with the wvdial included, so if the modem 2g does not connect the board keeps trying till the conection goes smoothly. So far I've done this: sudo nano /etc/rc.local and inserted this line: sleep 60; sudo wvdial & My results are: Sometimes, mostly, it connects and works properly but there are few times like 2 out of 10 that the wvdial does not work and the board initiates without it, which I do not want at all. How can I force the board to initiate properly onl…

Hi Guys, I have noticed that camera connected to OPI, has several frames lag. I capture image with very high speed (50 fps, camera also gives about 50 fps). Min for V4l2 is 4 buffers, so it gives about 80ms of latency. I cant find a way how to decrease this buffer count to 0 to receive the latest frame. I assume that I need to change some line in kernel and compile it. However, I cant find where exaclty.

Hello, I'm picking up my pine64 SBC for the first time in a long while. I want to have an always-on linux system for some home projects and this board ought to work nicely as I don't need any desktop running on it. Looking over the OS images available I decided to give opensuse a try; got it installed and running with no trouble. But it seems the 1.344GHz max speed of the board can't be enabled on this build, as the scaling_max_freq is set to 1.152GHz and no amount of "cpupower frequency-set -g ondemand -u 1344000" will convince it to go above 1.152GHz. I can go lower, just not higher. pine64:~ # cpupower frequency-set -g ondemand -u 1104000 Setting cpu: 0…

Good afternoon! Who started Armbian on Sunvell R69? I ran it with the settings of beelinkx2.bin. There is no Wi-Fi and the processor heats very much, more than 77. We had to reduce the maximum frequency to 1008 mhz and memory to 408 mhz. With settings orangepizero.bin I immediately get a problem with the video. Does anyone have the necessary settings for the Sunvell R69 Thank you.

Hi, my base problem is syncthing not starting on boot. But in trying to solve that it would be useful to uninstall and reinstall syncthing via armbian-config and hence softy. But armbian-config/softy does not let me uninstall syncthing (or for that matter samba, which I also don't want or need on that machine). Nor does apt: sudo apt-get remove --purge samba reports "Package 'samba' is not installed, so not removed", though armbian-config/softy shows it as installed. Is there a way to uninstall packages installed via armbian-config/softy? Thanks Graham

Hi! I would like to know if there is a way at the startup to load new uboot / system to sdcard or spi flash. The fact is for DIY waterproof system, it's hard to remove sdcard, sometimes OPi isn't close of my computer. Idealy i would like TFTP / serial upgrade like openwrt router. Maybe it's impossible since TFTP upgrade need to download before image to ram, check it and burn it. With OP PC we have 1G ram to store image before write it on sdcard... Any idea? thanks

ENG (GTranslator) Hello friends. I have an Orange Pi Zero v1.1 running perfectly with ARMbian 3.4.113 server and I connect via PUTTY SSH Client. I use the OPI to control a PRUSA Steel 3D printer with the Octoprint program and I am very happy with the results. But as you know the ARMbian for the IPO Zero lacks a graphical system and everything moves by terminal. Can you help me with this question? Do you know how to do termi…
