Hi everyone I have a litlle problem with my customize-image.sh, in my previous version builded last year everything go ok, but currently I cannot copy my scripts from tmp/overlay to /home/$user. When I am looking into the logs everything looks properly, few moments ago I tried copy these files into root folder and everything is ok but I still cannot copy anything to my home folder... I also try check proper adduser command logging into the system during build and I also find my home/$user catalogs but on the built image home folder is empty. Have you any suggestion or solution to fix that issue ?

Hello I'm using armbian on a Neo 2 board and I wanted to use a Quectel EM05 or EC25 LTE modem with it. Actually only need the serial port to send AT-commands. My question is, are Quectel modems natively supported by armbian (QMI? MBMI? ), or do I need to add the driver manually and rebuild the image??? Thank you (Yeah, it's a noob question ) Edit: Ok, I connected to modem to the board and realized that a wwan0 interface was created. That's fine, but I actually needed the serial port ttySx in order to sen AT-commands, but there is not one available... that's actually very strange.

Dear Armbian community I am currently porting some project from Debian/amd64 to Armbian (Debian GNU/Linux7 Wheezy) with shell and python and its impressive ! I though noticed strange behaviour on some command execution via variable and will here focus on a simple date sync example : 1. nc command : from shell or from script : nc time.nist.gov 13 revert a typical 46 char long ASCII answer. via a variable, a=$(nc time.nist.gov 13) ; $a delivers the same time server answer followed by the list of dir & files in the current dir, space separated. explicit error : $a | hexdump -v -C 2. date command from the shell or from script : …

Hey. I'm working on an olimex A13-SOM board that is connected to some pcb board, that has a 4.3" lcd with capacitive touch panel connected to it. After a looong while, I've finaly managed to get the touch panel to work. Hooray. The display itself actually worked right away without me having to do anything...... well... almost. The display is initially off, so I have to run the 3 following commands, to turn it on: echo 35 > /sys/class/gpio/export echo out > /sys/class/gpio/gpio35/direction echo 5 > /sys/class/gpio/gpio35/value After that the display works just fine. (so basicly I enable the PB3 pin, change it's direction to out, and set …

Hi, Do I have to create a Default Custom Command line under Preferences/Advanced in Xarchiver to allow zip files to be extracted with SU level access or is there a way within the desktop GUI to launch Xarchiver with SU level access? I want to extract a .NET binary archive to /user/local/bin, which needs SU write access. I realise I could use the command line for this but I like working with the desktop GUI. Thanks

before I used the -f option with h3disp, the framebuffer would always take the same size as the display resolution I'm setting. However, since I used the -f option once, if I now use h3disp without the -f option, the framebuffer size remains locked to what I had set before, even if the display resolution changes as requested. How can I set it back so that the framebuffer always takes the proper size when I use h3disp even without the -f option?

Installed Armbian to SD-card-1. Booted Cubietruck from it: works great. Made some changes in system and wanted that changes to another SD card, so I copied entire root ( / ) filesystem from SD-card-1 to my-armbian.tar.gz. There is better ways of doing this: dd or another make-image-software or better remember my changes related to original Armbian and made that changes in new system. But lets consider my stupid way:) Got new SD card: SD-card-2. Created partition table with 1 partition. Made ext4fs on that 1 partition. Unpacked my the filesystem to the partition. Used gparted and set flag BOOT. SD-card-2 didnt booted. I realized that i need U-Boot on it. …

Hi, currently I have armbian installed on an SD-Card with kernel 3.4.112-sun7i on Banana Pi. I'd like to test how armbian works installed on SATA with vanilla-kernel. Therefore I would install armbian (Vanilla) on SATA. Switching between both systems would then require a shutdown, exchange of SD-Card and startup the system again. Since i am a lazy person I'd like to know whether it is possible to use the SD-Card with 3.4.112 and just exchange the folder /boot with the one from the SD-Card I installed armbian-Vanilla on SATA (to avoid standing up, walking to the banana pi which is located in another room, exchanging the SD-Card, rebooting, walking back and sitting …

I have a NanoPi NEO3, which is not currently supported by Armbian (WIP). I installed Armbian focal version 20.08.1 and seems to work, but I'm running into a packaging problem. I need the usbipd service, and that requires an extra package: WARNING: usbip not found for kernel 5.8.6 You may need to install the following packages for this specific kernel: linux-tools-5.8.6-rockchip64 linux-cloud-tools-5.8.6-rockchip64 The latest version of linux-tools that's available in the repositories is linux-tools-5.4.0-48, which does not match the installed kernel. Hello, I am having reboot issues with my Odroid C4 running Armbian 21.08.2 Focal with kernel 5.10.60 on an eMMC card. I run the SBC headless and log in via ssh. When I issue the reboot command it shuts down but does not start up again. Does anyone know how to resolve this? It is kind of annoying to everytime cut of power and then connect the cable again. I also issues the command: nand-sata-install as recommended on the download page but this does not help. Many thanks! regards, Udo

Hi everyone, I'm very new to Armbian Linux. I'm about to acquire Orange Pi Zero 2W for my audio project. I have read some of the forum posts related to the SOC's native I2S, and I'd like to know if those problems mentioned in the posts have been resolved in the new kernel? Meaning that users don't have to write and compile their own device tree overlay and kernel mode driver? My project require a full duplex I2S with the CODEC as the master. Nothing fancy, just 2 channels in and 2 channels out. Hope someone can help clear the doubts so that I know for sure I will not be buying what I can not use. Thanks

Hi, I am not sure but it maybe a bug in the script. Dear all, I'm using Armbian_5.25_Pine64_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.104_desktop. The default display resolution of 720p60 is working fine. When I change to full hd with 1080p60 it's working fine. But when I change to 2160p30 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt it isn't working. Even the eth0 isn't working any more, i.e. the LEDs are not blinking and I couldn't connect to the system any more (additional to the fact that the monitor connected to hdmi is also dark). Has anybody been successful with pine64 and 4K with that image or another desktop image? Best regards, Willy P.S.: I also did the FastEthernet fix "ethtool -s e…

Hey folks, The tl;dr version of my question is "is there a way to stop tmpfs from being used for things like /tmp, /run, etc.?" Essentially I have an OPi Zero running PiAware and graphs1090. Graphs1090 is throwing a bunch of images into a folder under /run, which is causing the amount of free space to drop below 16M. As a result, systemctl refuses to restart some services because there isn't enough free space on /run. So...is there a way to disable the use of tmpfs for folders like /run or /tmp? Honestly, I'd rather just take the hit to the SD card rather have to deal with issues like this.

Not related to armbian distribution, just curious. I googled but had no luck to find an answer. For Allwinner SoCs, there is FEL boot tool to download bootloader, kernel and initramfs to ram and to boot the system directly, without writing those stuff onto flash storage and performing a reset; I wonder whether there is a tool to achieve the same function for rockchip SoCs? or we could modify the usbplug and rkdeveloptool to implement the function? or there are any limitations to prevent it? any comments or advices?

Hi all, digging into the Orange Pi 6 Plus specs for a potential build. Can anyone confirm the M.2 slots (the two Key-M 2280 ones) are PCIe Gen 4 with x4 lanes each? Official docs mention NVMe support but are light on details. I'm curious if this could handle a low-end GPU like an RX 570 (or even lower) through an NVMe-to-PCIe adapter/riser—thinking for light gaming or compute tasks. Has anyone tried eGPU setups on this board or similar ARM SBCs? What about power delivery, drivers, and performance? Running Linux (Ubuntu/Debian probably). Thanks for any insights or benchmarks!

Hello, Someone up for this? I am trying my best to extend the PPS device tree overlay in order to support additional capabilities of the PPS kernel driver. In particukar, I want to have the "echo" pin working. (The echo pin is supposed to be an output that makes it possible to measure the latency between the pps pulse and the actual kernel timestamp). Hi, I have a OLED display on OrangePi Zero H5. OLED is SSD1306 (128 x 64 pixel) and is detected with i2c scan. Hello everyone. I'm trying to configure wifi on my orange pi zero based on armbian buster. I planed to work in two wifi modes - client mode and access point mode. Wpa_supplicant allows me to register several networks in one configuration file, one of the networks can be with the option mode = 2, which means an access point. Then if during scanning wpa_supplicant does not find available points for connection, its own access point is created (which with mode=2 in conf file). I have problems with connecting other clients to this access point (it sees, but always reconnect). dnsmasq works as dhcp server as service, but i try to connecnt with static Ip on client too - no resul…

Is there any distro out there that has 2D hardware accelerated graphics so you can get a decent desktop experience out of the N2? I've tried armbian and the distro that comes from Odroid, but all of them are sluggish. Maybe I have missed to select some options? I've "just" installed it and tried som different.. window managers? It's a bit confusing. I'm only going to use it for python and golang development in VS Code, maybe some arduino too, but it's unusable with non accelerated graphics. Chromium or Firefox needs to be usable too. I have a feeling there is some kind of 1 2 3 recipe I've missed like install armbian, select this window manager, install this p…

I was experiencing slow writes to internal SD card and hard drives connected to an USB 2.0 hub on multiple Odroid HC1. IOWAIT was 99.99% most of the time during large file copies. I found that Armbian was simply waiting too long to write data to disk. Kernel parameters are optimized for writing small amounts of data to SD card when running from that in order to reduce wear. If you have the same problem, you might get factor 10-100 faster writes using the following sysctl settings: vm.dirty_writeback_centisecs=50 vm.dirty_expire_centisecs=50 No need to act, if iotop shows low IOWAIT values on your system.

At this time i crate all 4 weeks a full sd backup on my other computer. but it need a long time, because the full 64gb will be safe as a .img file, which i can restore. Is there a solution to get a smaller zip file, withe the full system???? Thank you a lot. If the fully system zip is not to great, i can upload it on my cloud..

Hello everyone, I’m a complete beginner and have very little programming knowledge. However, I decided to build a MagicMirror as a project. For this, I got a BananaPi M2 Berry and installed what I believe is an Armbian operating system on it. Then I downloaded the corresponding packages for the MagicMirror from GitHub. Everything worked so far—though it was quite challenging—and I even managed to personalize each module. But now I have two problems: I want the MagicMirror to stay in portrait mode permanently. However, after a while (about 30 minutes), the screen automatically switches back to landscape mode and opens a new window of the “Display” appli…

Hello, I am runnign armbian 5.05 jessie server on an OrangePi One. I wish to test network audio streams so I installed pulseaudio to do some tests. As long as ALSA works fine with HDMI output, I thought that pulseaudio would work the same, but I was wrong. The basic pulseaudio installation (apt-get install pulseaudio) turned to be a non effective way to obtain pulseaudio support. Actually this is strange because if I set the default pulseaudio sink to analog audio, it works fine (I get no sound but just because the Opi One has no analog connector). When I set the default sink to hdmi audio, I get indiscernible short discharges instead of music and pulseaudio…

I just want to share what I examined yesterday... Background: I used OPi one to output HDMI video when a button is pressed. It has an attached fan, a remote shutdown button and a remote switch to turn power off-on (OPi is hidden and operated through these buttons). It worked on breadboard, produced 2 working examples, tested the first two with a 24h test. All fine... Problem: On a third installation after the "circuits" are built, I made a last test. HDMI output had problems Sound comes and goes with a hick-up... Debugging: Checked wiring, checked with other video, checked with other OPi etc. Nada... The problem persiste…

A while back, I noticed that Armbian was compatible with this Ugreen GbE adapter. As I purchase on eBay rather than Amazon, I found the above one plus this adapter, which has the same AX88179 chipset plus a built-in 3-port USB3-Hub. So I decided to try it and see if it worked with Armbian and report back here. (I'm using the EspressoBIN for this and Ubuntu Bionic 4.19.56). These are my results: Straight out-of-the-box, I can see it using LSUSB, but it does not plug-and-play-work. After struggling and attempting to get the network manager to do something about it, I added this line to /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules: SUBSY…

Is it possible to change the baud rate of the i2c driver on twi0? It seems to be running slower than twi1 and twi2 at least probing that bus takes much longer. Also are twi1 and 2 routed out somehwere on the Nanopi NEO I don't see where the pinout is documented.

The internet is full of reports, that USB devices get disconnected at random after some time. Camera or disc-drives, keyboards etc. For me it was a GPS device. The solution is described here https://hamwaves.com/usb.autosuspend/en/ and here https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/usb/power-management.txt

I'm installed Armbian_23.02.2_Orangepi5_jammy_legacy_5.10.110_xfce_desktop to Orange Pi5. I have attached external RTC module with DS3231 on I2C5 (/dev/i2c-5) and try it. https://forum.armbian.com/topic/7349-rtc-ds3231-how-to-install-tinker-board-stretch-414/#comment-56094 (Instead of I2C-0, it was I2C-5.) However, the DS3231 does not recognize it. I type i2cdetect -y 5, it remains at 68 without becoming a UU. Is there any solution?

Hello I am running a NanoPi M4 (kernel 4.4) with /boot on SD and / on an USB-attached disk. At the time I ran `nand-sata-install` ext4 seemed like a good choice. I want to snapshot the file system as a preparation step to backing up, so it looks like I have 2 choices now: 1. ext4 on LVM 2. btrfs -> Will 1. work with u-boot/armbian at all? Which solution is recommended? My guess is that btrfs would be the easiest, so the next question is -> can I go and a) `btrfs-convert /` b) update rootfs in armbianEnv.txt, or is there any other step involved? Regards -Patrick

Dear colleagues! I think many of us are trying to use SBC boards with Armbian as server, control units etc. How do you handle instant power OFF, due to power loss, for example. I am thinking about small UPS development, it will contain battery for 30 seconds of Orange Pi Pc+ operation and set Orange Pi I/O as signal for correct shutdown. But is it actually needed? I keep switching my Orange power OFF from AC adapter instead of shutting down for 1 year and still no problem there.

I know it sounds crazy. But at least every 1 out 3 reboots, the sbc will shutdown instead (no hdmi output) and not boot back up. Rebooting in terminal whether remotely or locally will have the same effect. And when it fails to reboot and just shuts down instead, my linksys router (ea9500) disconnects the internet (devices still connected to router). I have to power cycle the router to get it working again. This occurred on a fresh installation of the current focal releases. I would say I had to restart my router at least 15 times in the past few hours, and every time it happened was when the reboot command failed. The sbc is connected via ethernet, and the internet…

Hi, I am working on a PR[0] to the Armbian build framework. As suggested in the PR, I am trying to use the upstream U-Boot source and apply the required patches[1][2] on top of it. One of the patch series[2] requires a git subtree[3] to be added to the U-Boot source before applying the patch itself. However, it seems that Armbian's build framework first attempts to apply the required patches[4] on the U-Boot source and then calls the pre_config_uboot_target hook[5]. Currently, I've put the code to add the git subtree in the pre_config_uboot_target hook. As a result, the required patch series are not getting applied. Is there any way in which we can co…

I've had two Cubietrucks running almost flawlessly for about 10 years on Armbian/Buster and previous versions. I recently decided to install Bookworm using Armbian_23.8.1_Cubietruck_bookworm_current_6.1.47.img.xz. On this I encountered several problems, whose causes I never fully uncovered, but got over them. One of these problems was that neither manual setup nor the use of armbian-config allowed for a lasting configuration of the German keyboard layout, although "Personal Setting" says the opposite (see att. image No.2). It's a pain in the neck, really. All I could filter out is a commandline message that's only visible a second. See the last screenshot with fou…

I am using an orangePi and I had some scripts with bash but now I have put a screen with more resolution and now I see the text very small. How can you make the text look bigger? Hi all, Using Armbian Focal for a couple of years now and booting from an SSD plugged to USB (used the armbian installer to move to it) and it always worked perfectly but after an apt-update (stupid of me I know) I'm now stuck on a boot loop, it looks like the entire system is fubar'd. I don't mind formatting and reinstalling everything, the problem is that I lost the eMMC to USB converter I had and can't find any in the UK... Attached an image of what I'm seeing. Anything I can do to either salvage or do a fresh new install without the eMMC converter? Can be removed. Did a full format.

Got a bit of a weird issue and the search in Armbian site is not helping much due to words with few characters.. Have a Opi+2E running Armbian Ubuntu 16.04.1 xenial desktop and an ethernet connection. (Packet tracking is via wireshark) Whenever an ARP network request comes to it (targeted at its MAC addr) for revealing its IP, it does not reply back. Is there any hint or info on such an issue? Solved. It was just me not rebooting when needed.. Sorry for the noise.

I'm using the latest WIP config for the NanoPC-T6 build. I've discovered a problem that I don't have using an official FriendlyARM Debian image on the device. I have one HDMI output connected to a dual input screen in desktop mode. It works fine if I select the NanoPC-T6 screen input from the start, but if at a later stage I swap the screen input to a different source and back again, the NanoPC-T6 does not output video. I can ssh to the box but there is nothing obvious in either dmesg or syslog. summary-build-476d3c90-225f-4793-8dbb-01abf490e940.md

Hi, I'm trying to run with a PREEMPT_RT kernel to get a real-time (lowest latency as possible) performance. But in addition to the PREEMPT_RT patch, I want to make sure the system doesn't go to sleep (or using power save modes) to avoid additional wake-ups latencies (that the PREEMPT_RT patch cannot reduce). I've reviewed the AXP209 datasheet and tried to understand if I can somehow disable the system from going to sleep, but I didn't find the answer for that. I do know that register 0x31 can control the entrance to sleep mode if we write '1' to bit-3, but I can't prevent other drivers or applications from doing it. Question: Is th…

Hey. I'm working on getting a small touch screen working on my OPiZ+2. It's a Waveshare 4.3 with a resistive touchpanel (using HDMI for displaying). Hi there! I am using a H3 board with TV out on a small 3.5" LCD screen (with composite->RGB24 IC). But I have a problem with picture being way too bright/washed out.
