  1. I am using an Orange pi win plus (Allwinner A64, 2GB ram), running Armbian Bionic with Linux 5.3.9-sunxi64 The board has an 2MB on-board spi flash and I want to flash bootloader in it. The spi flash can be correctly detected in the system (showing /dev/mtdblock0). But the "install" tool in armbian-config can't install the bootloader into the flash. When I selected "Install/Update the bootloader on SPI Flash" and confirmed the warning notice, the tool printed "OK" immidiately and there is actually nothing written to the flash. After using "sudo bash -x armbian-config", I found the tool executed a command: dd if=/usr/lib/linux-u-bo…

  2. I was trying to get my Fritz!WLAN AC860 to work which requires Mediatek drivers/firmware. I noticed that the various kernel modules (mt76x2u, mt76x2_common, mt76x02_usb, mt76_usb, mt76x02_lib and mt76) were already available through the armbian-firmware package, but the also required mt7662_rom_patch.bin was not. The Mediatek modules plus mt7662_rom_patch.bin are available in the firmware-linux-nonfree package, but this will only install properly after first removing the armbian-firmware package. Everything seems to work fine now (I'm using my OdroidC4 as a headless server), but I have this nagging feeling that one day I'll need to us…

  4. Hi, I’m new to the forum and just wanted to take a moment to appreciate the incredible work Armbian has done for the community. I have been tinkering around with Radxa rock 5 ITX SBC and Armbian. I flashed UEFI EDK2 for Radxa rock 5 ITX  v1.1 from EDK2 porting to RK3588 initiative. While I can install ARM64 version of Ubuntu and Debian, none of them had support for H/W transcoding. So I decided to build an Armbian which used vendor kernel and had `uefi-edk2-3588` extension. Full build report is linked in this Armbian paste ./compile.sh \ BOARD=rock-5-itx \ RELEASE=trixie \ BRANCH=vendor \ BUILD_MINIMAL=yes \ BUILD_DESKTOP=no \ KERNEL_CONFIG…

  5. The /sbin/armbian-install script that ships in Armbian_22.08.7_Odroidn2_bullseye_current_5.19.17_minimal.img.xz has a couple of faulty lsblk arguments that cause it to exit instead of allowing the user to select the installation target partition. The script works properly after both instances of the string MOUNTPOINTS are changed to MOUNTPOINT which is easily done with sed -ie s/MOUNTPOINTS/MOUNTPOINT/ /sbin/armbian-install

  6. armbian-ramlog & armbian-truncate-log are not executed due to an error parsing the XTRA_RSYNC_TO=(--delete) from /etc/default/armbian-ramlog This results in quick saturation of /var/log. Hello, I flashed the Armbian_22.11.1_Pinebook-pro_jammy_edge_6.0.10_gnome_desktop.img file on the 64GB eMMC card of my Pinebook Pro (PBP) laptop but although the eMMC recognizes the image (the ARM logo appears on the screen for a few seconds), booting stalls at (initramfs). 9. I have recently managed to get SPI boot to USB SSD working on my Odroid N2+. However, to get there, I had to manually set setenv rootdev "/dev/sda1" in my /boot/boot.cmd With that set, SPI boot works. However, obviously I should not set it manually there, and the setting gets overwritten by armbian-config. My understanding is, that I should let boot.cmd unchanged (rootdev "/dev/mmcblk0p1") and armbianEnv.txt should do its magic, but the rootdev setting in armbianEnv.txt is simply ignored upon SPI boot and it fails to boot, as it tries to load the root fs from SD card... Any pointers, what might go wrong here or …

  10. Started by john.glasson,

Armbian documentation on Overlays refers to /boot/armbianEnv.txt. But in the version of Armbian that I'm running (on a Cubietruck, ARMBIAN 5.36 user-built Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.13.16-sunxi) there is no such file. There is however a copy in directory /usr/share/armbian. Is this the overlay file that is processed at start-up? If so, it would be good if the documentation was updated.

I am following this step guide to generate the image, but I'm having problems to read serial. The tutorial that I follow was created for Orange Pi Zero +2 H5, so I change the architecture for armhf. When I boot the image I don't have any file named "armbianEnv.txt". This file should be already there? Or I have to create it? Some idea about what can be the problem? Just for test I create this file with some parameters that I found, but still not working.

  16. I've noted that 'armbianmonitor -u' will obfuscate some detail such as IPv4 addresses prior to uploading, but it misses similar additional detail: IPv6 addresses, specifically 'global' scope, are left intact. These are on interface configurations and in resolv.conf configurations at least. 'domain' and 'search' directives in resolv.conf are left intact. These can (would) include local domain names, which may be sensitive outside of a given environment. username is exposed in showing group membership. This may be minor but in some cases may be sensitive outside of a given environment, and perhaps can be shown anonymously such as '### Group membership o…

Have a Opi+2E running Armbian Ubuntu 16.04.1 xenial desktop and an ethernet connection. Any hints what's going wrong? My guess is that the kernel might be lacking the audit module?!

In order to have an external power switch, i made this: using pin 7 and gnd and it works! the script is successfully doing a shutdown. but, to run that program ("pushbuttons.c" compiled to "pushbuttons") in anything other than root, he wants the password. and i really dont know how to add it to autostart (in "settings"), because i dont know how to fill in the "command" field. like "sudo ./program"? Thank you so much für any help.

  51. Hi there, Is there a way to make an automatic switch between AV and HDMI when HDMI connector is connected/disconnected? ie By default AV composite signal is ON, if HDMI is detected while booting, then video and sound are output to HDMI instead of AV/L/R output. I read that if both TV out and HDMI are enable at the same time it can result in artifacts on HDMI and for that reason TV was disabled by default. So is there a way to detect if HDMI is plugged in, and if so disable TV out. I would say it needs 2 .bin files with each config, but how to detect if HDMI is present before loading .bin and load the right .bin according to situation? …

Does anyone know how to intervene in te booting process to stop this mapping and filling up of the fs? This issue sometimes causes the device to fail to boot properly and remain inaccessible. (It may indeed be that an unclean shutdown is causing this problem). Booting up properly is essential for us and we do not want or need these logs . We send the logs over the server, so capture these anyways. This posting refers to our same issue: Any help much appreciated. Thank you for Armbian! Best wishes Eric

  56. There's a cheap M2 SSD, for example for sale here, but it would be a bad idea to use it in any ARM board with an M2 drive slot. I have one of these M2 drives in my laptop, and I learned the hard way how slow it will get within 1 year's use, like 30MB/sec read, 8.5 MB/sec write! Over time, this drive will gradually go slower and slower and slower, until you figure out you need a firmware upgrade. Then you'll need to use the closed-source firmware-upgrading CLI utility that Micron publishes. There is a version for linux, but it's AMD64 only. You might think you can put the M2 drive in a USB-3.0 enclosure, then firmware upgrade it in that enclosure…

I found relatively little information concerning AXP209 support on mainline. My targets : - set the battery as 4.35V instead of 4.2V. Datasheet say it's set in REG 33H. Defaut value for register : 0xCX, X being the charge current. if 1200mAh then default value is 0xC9. To change from 4.2 to 4.35V, use EXh (so E9h if you'r using 1200mA) 11001001 to 11101001.) - Remove boot when AC plugged in and boot only when PEK is pressed. Datasheet say it's possible is not clear about how to do it. It may be reg40 bit6. I could not test yet as REG40 strangely reads 0x00 with i2cget. - Set GPIO0 and GPIO1 as ADC. GPIO0 function is REG 90H (see page 40 datasheet). GPIO1…

To backup the sd card we can just read the data back to computer and name the img file. How can we do that in armbian at least the easy way? Why we can view raspbian image's folder from window? 70. The espressobin has three ethernet ports. In Ubuntu Armbian, left to right (looking into the ports), they're called "lan1", "lan0", and "wan". The weird thing is that you can't bring them up until you've *first* brought up eth0, which is not associated with a physical port. This causes all kinds of havoc trying to use /etc/network/interfaces/, because it takes a couple of seconds for eth0 to come up, in which time the other interfaces have already failed. 1) What is this mysterious eth0? 2) My attempts to bridge lan0 and lan1 from .../interfaces have failed. Got an example you can give me?

  75. Hi, FYI, there might be an issue with old, slow hardware. Yesterday I installed the minimal Ubuntu 26.04 current 6.18.24 downloaded from https://armbian.com/boards/bananapi on my old Banana Pi on an similar old 8GB SD by sandisk. It runs normaly, but cannot set up the end0 during booting. Doing an "ip link set end0 up" manually on cli afterwards immediately activated end0, so my solution was using an script to do this command after booting. The AI aiding me thinks it's just the slow hardware causing a timeout when it should set up the interface during booting. Just wanted to let you know.

Hi,I installed a fresh image today, one Armbian_21.08.3_Bananapipro_focal_current_5.10.60.img. Short check showed that there is an undefined traffic taking place, please see images. funny is that the open ports are not associated with any processes. does anyone have an idea what is behind it? buggy? trojan in the kernel?
