Since 23 hours, 23 views, no reply's. So I have ordered a 4 pack of the latest 4gig bananna pi's, and would like to know: 1. if Armbian will work on them, and 2. If octoprint-1.8.6 can be installed in a python venv so I can get back to work on a room full of 3d FDM printers. off topic, I have been running an apt update at about 8 hour intervals on the rock64's but while error msgs are, or were displayed on the hdmi output, no xserver appears to be start-able, the hdmi display has now gone dark without its declaring a loss of signal so I have to assume it is generating a synch signal of some sort. I can ssh -Y into both f…

Hi. I problem with the board banana pi r1, I've installed a couple of system on it, but I can't get the ip address from the router, I have a banana pi m1 and with the same image it works, but when I remove the sd memory and install it on banana pi r1 and it doesn't work. The bpi-r1 is broken the ethernet port or something like that? When the bpi-r1 starts running turn on the green light in the ethernet port, that doesn't happen with the bpi-m1 model. any idea, I've installed with the debian installer, but is the same problem, the ethernet doesn't work when I am configuring the net

Hey, I'm trying to setup the ports of the switch correctly but I don't arrive anywhere. I'm using the mainline armbian for my R1. There are different files in /etc/network(e.g.): -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 495 18. Jun 2017 interfaces.r1 -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 610 18. Jun 2017 interfaces.r1router -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 359 18. Jun 2017 interfaces.r1switch But even if I completely copy a configuration file to /etc/network/interfaces there are still no packets arriving at the Ports named lan1 to lan4. I checked this with tcpdump -i interfaceName, but all packets are arriving at eth0. Only some IPv6 packets are arriving at the lan-ports. …

But earlier when I used openwrt on x86 my both wlan and lan were bridged and had one IP - which was router IP. Here with armbian wlan hotspot get other IP than armbian itself. Is there any way to change it to bridge? Or best practices is to leave it as is? regards, Maciek

I can hardly find any info regarding "ARMBian and btrfs" * Current drawbacks? May be btrfs is not the right choice for servers like Seafile? * Is btrfs good for SSD? This may not be an 'armbian' thing at all, but if not, maybe I'll get a little direction. My first "image" with armbian I downloaded had some 3.4.x kernel on it. After some learning, I was able to get GPIO to work with it. I had some other limitations though. So, I decided to build my own image (buster) so I could customize it. After booting, I GPIO did not work. I explored this, but was unable to to get it to work. I tried a -legacy version (which was 4.x) but also, GPIO did not work. This is my first sunxi experience. So, I'm not sure of the tricks used to get it to work. Either it's broken, or there are patches/config for the kernel …

(Had I had the skills, I would have happily maintained it. ;-( ) Also, to get the latest Kernel later on, is it as simple as obtaining the official sources and then compiling (or cross-compiling to ARM) and then install the Kernel? On this one I'm a bit like a duck out of water and if anyone can point me along the right path, all help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sirs, for first excuse me for my English. I followed all the instructions, used a 8GB class 10 SD Card, burned it with the program proposed, put in the Box but obtained only a purple led. After 30 mintes no other results. I don't know if I missed some steps, but it seems to do all correctly. No results at all at the present time. The S/N is X2HCAAG40056. Maybe could be blocked for upgrade or other? Actually the Vendor is 207K4. Thank you for your possible help. Have a Merry Christmas Gianluca

I don't know how to explain this, so I start with my hardware: Two Odroid HC1. I love swapping Kernels, default was 5.4.199 but that was "too old" because I like it bleeding edge. Did upgrade both to 5.17.5 and it works like a charm! Really good performance and some errors from dmesg disappeared too! However the problems did not wait for long: Kernel 5.19.x broke fstrim commands on my SATA drives so I rolled back, everything was good on 5.17.5 again. My logs showed TRIM was supported and running again, cheers! Now to the actual problem at hand and this might be my own doing. I froze the upgrades in armbian-config. Thinking this would prevent upgrading to the n…

Has anyone found a usefull utility ? Or should I just use dd to dump the eMMC partions to image files on a USB attached drive and rsync to backup the NVMe the the same ? I'd imagine to restore just boot from an install image, don't install, just dd the images to their repective eMMC partitions and rysnc to restore. Has anyone had to restore a board and how well did your solution work for you ?

Hi all I would like to start this topic to discuss on the best approach for having some degree of data integrity using ARM SBC (aarch64 SoC in primis) My goal is to set a big archive, I have in program to build 5x8TB HD, scheme TBD The goal is to have at least one hard drive failure tolerance, it is acceptable that some data is lost during rebuild, since the main goal of the archive is to store picture and video, so it is tolerable that few pictures or video get corrupted, but the rebuild shall not stop in this case The write performances are not so important, but read performances shall sustain some video streaming, roughly at least 25 Mbytes/s M…

I am looking to purchase an SBC ideally under $100 to install armbian and develop some hardware projects. I had previously gone for a BpiM5 which also has EMMC but when I came to install software I found there is little support from the makers, installing software is fiddly and the most recent Armbian images for this board were not working. I eventually got this going using Ubuntu Mate. For my next project I would like to change from Amlogic CPU's , use Armbian as the software base and choose a platform which has reasonable up to date support whilst avoiding going for an RPI. 56. Hello! I bought an Orange Pi PC about two years ago which is still working perfectly to this day (very happy with it), but I am curious to know what would be considered the 'best' Single Board Computer at this time point time, which would be around the same price range ($15 USD). 'Best' being defined as having a decent processor, and good software support - which the Orange Pi PC eventually did. I'm tempted to just buy another one of these for another project, but interested to know. Again, the main factor is price - $15 USD or less would be ideal.

All other examples I have found seem to be specific to the SBC vendor's custom branches. 69. Apologies for this noob question but I am still new to Ubunto. If a piece of software is currently available as a binary archive only and the accompanying installation advises unzipping it to "a folder" and running the software from this place I presume this is not really advisable, as would be the same in the Windows world. In which case, should I install the software in, say, /usr/share and run it from there or is it okay to just unzip it and run it out of the /home/[username]/ directory? Thanks!

Hi there, I have been using a nanopi m4v2 for openmediavault for 4 years. In that time my SD card has died once. Now I have ordered an emmc module to do a full clean install of my server. So my questions are, is it wise to boot from the SD card and have the system on the emmc because the sd card can die faster? And if I boot from the SD card and it needs to be replaced, can I just insert a new one and everything will work as before? (With a freshly installed Armbian) If I do a backup of the emmc with win32 disk imager, can I burn the backup to a new emmc with a different sd-card as boot? When I do an armbian install, does it copy the system …

I’ve done some searching, but haven’t found a clear answer. i have a rockpi-s with a built in eMMC that has a bootable armbian image. When i insert a micro-SD card into the RP, and the card has a bootable image, it happily boots off of the card. Remove the card, and it boots off the eMMC. Perfect. Now, how do I duplicate this same functionality with a usb key? no key or sd = boot from eMMC SD inserted = boot from SD USB inserted = boot from USB I’ve been able to get the RP to boot from the usb using armbian-install to set it up, but then if I remove the USB, it no longer boots from the eMMC.

  95. Hello, I would like the ability to run Firefox or Chromuim rather than Gnome or any desktop environment when I start up my Orange Pi 5. This is for a device I'm setting up that (when rebooted) ideally won't even prompt the user to log in, it'll just directly bring up the browser and directly to a specific URL. Any thoughts on how I might do this? David

Hello there I have had great success using Armbian as a base OS to run my commercial application. Finally free of Microsoft Windows CE However the time is now at hand when I need to clean things up before it goes out in the field. As far as possible I need to hide some stuff and one of the things I need to do is as follows: 1. Disable (or hide- I prefer this as it is needs to be re-enabled if we have problems) the text that scrolls during boot. 2. Change the black background with the Armbian logo in the middle. I preferably want to change this to our own logo and some custom text, retaining the Armbian logo at a different position. I suspect thi…

I now have a RockPi4a running Armbian_20.02.0-rc1_Rockpi-4b_bionic_legacy_4.4.210_desktop from eMMC. Now i wanted to see how i most easily can experiment with newer distributions, such as 5.x. The radxa debian images for rockpi4 use a lot of partitions and it was quite easy to reformat the eMMC to have two system partitions, install different linux versions into them, and then configure the boot script to allow booting from different partitions/kernels via serial console and there selecting the desired kernel. In Armbian, it seems booting uses the boot.cmd script to boot the kernel. Is there a simple example of the boot script with a m…

Hello, I have several ARM boards in my possession and I want to be able to boot them all from a single SD card (I have commercial SW which requires activation and is tied to a particular SD card afterwards). So far, I have made this script which creates multiple /boot-boardname directories, replaces /boot with a symlink to one of those, and makes sure the right u-boot is written to the card. However, I have one little problem I couldn't yet solve: I would like to generate the correct /etc/modules file for a new board, and I don't know how. For example, Orange Pi Zero needs this xradio_wlan module for WIFI. Where do I find the info that this module is needed? A…

  100. My headless Orange Pi Zero Plus was configured to boot from a powered external USB2 drive with 3 partitions, a 48Gb linux partition populated by armbian-config, a 4Gb swap partition and a 800Gb NTFS data partition (shared by Samba). The setup is stable and works beautifully when powered up from the powered off state. The Pi fails to start when I reboot it. I suspect that the USB port or drive or both need some kind of reset when a reboot occurs. Has anybody encountered this problem? Is there a known solution?
