  1. Hello, I'm tempted to load the Siano Mobile Silicon driver (TV adapter) into the Orange Pi PC more I'm not getting. I have performed the following procedures already: I put it in the / lib / firmware folder: isdbt_rio.inp I configured the smsmdtv.conf file (options smsmdtv default_mode = 4) in the /etc/modprobe.d/ folder I installed firmware-siano-rio_1.0_all.deb (sudo dpkg -i firmware-siano-rio_1.0_all.deb) Has anyone already set up the siano drive on linux? Thank you very much

  2. I decided to start my Armbian contribution with something simple as a first step where I will learn how to update the documentation. So far I've cloned and built the docs successfully. But after I built them, I noticed that the new docs I built do not match the documentation on the website (docs.armbian.com). Which files are considered to be correct / what's next (fix the ones in git or the ones on the site?). Thanks!

Currently I am busy getting the new version of Kerberosio video surveillance software (website) to work on Armbian (Debian Jessie). The current version is already working (refer also to this post), and I have also compiled successfully the most recent development version which includes video recording which is not included in the current release. There will be a special Armbian page (I am currently writing it) on the Kerberos.io site in the near future. I am working towards a general Armbian recipe. Because the software originally focuses on the Raspberry Pi Platform, there are some slight differences (library dependencies because of the Raspberry Pi camera which is s…

  4. Using the dev build of Armbian for the OrangePi One, does the SPI driver in the mainline kernel support DMA? According to the mainline status page the work on SPI is done, and DMA has been supported since 4.2 I have enabled the spi interface in the device tree and my driver initialises properly with the master. But in my kernel driver I attempt to allocate some memory with dma_alloc_coherent and it fails. The driver works fine with the legacy kernel and with alternative hardware (raspberry pi). Is there some additional configuration needed or does anyone have any pointers to information on this that I look at? --edit Solved…

  5. ROCK64 is a RK3328 Quad-Core ARM Cortex A53 board with up to 4 GB of RAM. Unfortunately it has a non-functional RTC (/dev/rtc0), which is not battery backed. If your board is not connected to internet 7/24, you can not use the NTP or systemd-timesyncd. Therefore you need to connect a battery-backed external RTC module to the ROCK64 header, and get the time via the i2c protocol. The good news is, the GPIO headers on ROCK64 is compatible with Raspberry Pi headers. Therefore almost any Raspberry Pi RTC module will work on ROCK64. But you need to do some tweaking to communicate with the RTC module. I will explain the required steps which worked for me. 1. Buy an e…

Hi folks, I've done a Armbian build for my OrangePi-Plus2e this morning, and discovered that U-Boot "fdtfile" is now set to sun8i-h3-orangepi-plus2e.dtb instead of sun8i-h3-orangepi-pc.dtb as previously. Unfortunately, the sun8i-h3-orangepi-plus2e.dtb doesn't exist, I had to copy the sun8i-h3-orangepi-pc.dtb under the sun8i-h3-orangepi-plus2e.dtb name to make it boot. Where in the build process we manage to set "fdtfile" during u-boot build ? Is that done using mix of manipulations of configs found in config/boards/orangepiplus2e.conf (Zador recently changed it) Also, on separate issue, I've discovered that /usr/lib/linux-u-boot-dev-orangepiplus2e_5.20_armhf…

Hi all, there is an issue with SPI on a Banana Pro (A20). I am on mainline kernel 4.5.5 now, but the problem already occurred on 3.4.109. SPI transfers are way to slow for my application, independently from the SPI clock. Investigating the SPI signals it turned out that there is an enormous delay between CS going active (low) and the transmission starting. The delay is in the magnitude of 10...20 usec which is a large multiple of the pure transmission time, so increasing the SPI clock does not solve the problem. The connected device is an SPI TFT display, so I have to send a large number of SPI words of 2 bytes each, where CS must toggle after each word (required by th…

Hi, every one! have any of you guys tried to perform SPI loopback tests on any of existing boards ? I mean this driver code http://elixir.free-electrons.com/linux/v4.13.14/source/drivers/spi/spi-loopback-test.c. I tried to find any information on how to run tests but I completely failed to make it. It would be nice if someone shares a step-by-step instruction. Thanks a lot.

I'm currently working on the meson64 family (C2, K2, Le Potato) as a family, and am trying to more or less make their GPIO behaviors similar and matching (as best I can) to the RPi they are form factor clones of. An issue I'm having right now has to do with the spidev driver, these boards don't have hardware spi where the Pi/Tinker does does, so I'm defining spi-gpio devices in the device tree. That part is fine. Where it gets interesting is setting up a spidev node under it. - Calling out a compatible = "spidev" works, enumerates, etc, but throws the typical ugly error during boot that it is wrong to do it that way. - Adding a compatible string to the…

Igor, I noticed that your build script automatically parses a URL to determine what the current stable release is for "Next". Since 4.3 is now officially released and has a number of features worth checking out, it would be nice if the build script offered an option to pick from stable vs. mainline. For now I am just manually setting the KernelTag to "4.3", but it would be nice not to have to modify any of the scripts manually and have this be an option you can pick from. Just a suggestion... Thanks.

I've comment out this line since it seems that v4l2 API has changed : // .vidioc_cropcap = vdec_cropcap, If some of you are more familiar, please, give some help here. While 5.4.y is not in ( sunxi64_common.inc ) current yet, at this time of writing I like to explore " KERNELBRANCH="branch:orange-pi-5.5" ". Except for just updating to this branch, I noticed it is just too early as megous github branch is not prepared yet for 5.5-RC1. I am curious to see if any of these have been applied already and what new fun stuff needs to be considered in the kernel .config

I've started the work of switching SUNXI-DEV to 5.6.y, as usual, few DT duplicates and fixes ... But I've faced also a big change related to 'file_operations' been changed to 'proc_ops' in all places over the kernel, which cause that all our EXTRAWIFI needs to be fixed. I hope to get it done by the end of this evening ...

  39. Hi - Would it be possible to switch dev builds to 5.8 rc kernels? It looks like megous is already prepared for it ( atm rc1 ). Certainly I do realise the massive work filtering DT duplicates and applying fixes, etc ( the usual ) does come in here ... But rgd H6 this 5.8 kernel should hold important additions rgd: CPUFreq (DVFS), IOMMU, and MsgBox ( as well H3,H5 ) Therefore kindly requesting to skip 5.7 in dev and go straight for 5.8 which allows +/- two months of testing wich should be perfect for upcoming "Caple"-release in August.

  40. Now that 5.9 will be released ( LTS early October / end September?) , DVFS is also present for H5 boards as well @megi provides his 5.9 branch so let's move on to this topic testing / patching/ building.

From Armbian documentation (https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Allwinner_overlays/) Most in-circuit and GPIO based interfaces (SPI, I2C, I2S, …) don’t have a mechanism for detecting and identifying devices connected to the bus, so Linux kernel has to be told explicitly about the device and its configuration details. While Device Tree is a way of describing hardware configuration to the kernel, Device Tree overlays are a way for modifying the DT in order to provide the kernel and kernel drivers with details about external devices or to activate interfaces disabled by default. What do we want? We want to add Device Tree overl…

  53. Hi all, first post here. I have an orange pi zero and I want to develop some C++ apps on it. My app is going to be a bit big, and at the moment compiling it on the ZERO takes FOREVER (I guess its just the RAM, not CPU)! Compiling it on my intel i9 PC is just a matter of seconds. So I managed to find gcc-linaro-10.2.1-2021.04-x86_64_arm-linux-gnueabihf and I can cross compile and then remotely debug it on the ZERO....life is much better now all of the sudden. But I have some concerns, would be nice if you walk me though: 1) I am running Armbian 20.04 on the ZERO which I believe is compiled with GCC 9.3.0. I could not find a Linaro pack…

However I cannot see what is loading these two modules? Also is there any other way getting working touchscreen? I'm using armbian 5.34 with kernel version 4.13.11.

All orange pi boards with the same cpu have 1296 mhz. I set up cpu governor on performance all the time 1100mhz. I achieved temperatures on cpu between 53-62 celsius degrees. Could be the max cpu speed bring up to the 1296 MHZ? I have radiator 3.5 cm x 3.5 cm on board tritium H3. And it is not very hot. thanks for reply.

Hi everyone, I have a problem with my Cubietruck that I was able to partly debug now, but I really like to have input from those who know more about this setup. On my Cubietruck (trusty, kernel 4.6.5-sunxi), I have a 120GB SSD (no-name brand) and added an ext4 partition and corresponding fstab line to mount it. Booting and mounting this partition works well when I cold start my system, and had powered it off before for a while. But when I do a warm start (sudo reboot), the system hangs on boot, quite reliably (it seems to occasionally work, though). I changed my kernel command line and added 'init=/bin/sh', started a 2nd bash terminal before replacing …

  64. Two Questions: How do I force Armbian/build to rebuild the kernel ? - Is there a `./compiler.sh` flag ? And where does the kernel get cached ? - Is it cached online ? - is it cached on kernel, kernel version, and kernel config hash ? I am trying to get a proper handle on Armbian/build. Stumbled across this while working on something else not ARM related, but it's pretty cool - since Armbian is looking at devices that have eMMC, this might be useful https://github.com/pepe2k/u-boot_mod Short story - it's a uBoot with a micro web server that supports flashing images, including uBoot itself - basically it turns things into a bit of a fail-safe as long as uBoot can execute... (those playing with the fire that is uBoot, keep your UART connections handy) Do I have some security concerns - absolutely yes... but no different than the UEFI that is on many x86 boards these days.

Or is it ok? This should be fun. For me, most of the time is even sometimes days are wasted and frustration or stress builds up to insane levels. Just a minor problem: uptime from procps-nf 3.3.15 (Armbian buster) - as used in 30-armbian-sysinfo to get uptime/logged-in users/load - generates different outputs if the uptime is either less or more than 1 day or less than 1 hour ("hh:mm" or "d days, hh:mm" or "nn min") - this gets the 30-armbian-sysinfo confused on gathering the logged-in user count resp. load. This is what I done so far. For SD card 1. I delete /boot/script.bin 2. Write new config in /boot/script.bin 3. Reboot Then the usb is still not detected, it seems that I did something wrong. For nand: 1. I boot via sd card 2. mount /dev/nanda /mnt/nanda 3. rm /mnt/nanda/script.bin 4. cp new_script.bin /mnt/nanda/script.bin 5. umount /mnt/nanda 6. reboot Again, nothing happens. The usb is still not detected Thanks in advance.

  96. Hello, I'm trying to upgrade Armbian on my little OrangePi Lite, and it's been 3 days at it already. It is stuck at "Compiling headers", and it is not hung, I can use it. It does happen from time to time to all my SoCs, sometimes I prefer to re-dd and reconfigure. So I was thinking, if compilation cannot be avoided, can it be done on another computer? Cross-compile?

  97. Greetings, I haven't built a new image for awhile. But, I wanted to refresh the process. In the meanwhile, the only change I've made is upgrading my host. My build platform is a VM. I have no idea if that matters, but it was a change. I now have some weird errors/warning and I want to troubleshoot them. How can I enter into the environment to run just the customize script and commands? I'd like to dig into them, but not sure how. Thanks!

  98. Started by jimg,

Now that Debian stable has moved from Jessie to Stretch, what would it take to move the Debian branch of Armbian to Stretch? Would it break anything if I just s/jessie/stretch/g in /etc/apt/sources.list and do sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade?

  99. Hi. I need help from someone with RK3568 SBC. My Rock 3A packed up few weeks ago and I'm unable to test v3 of the driver on that SOC. It will require to build new kernel with updated patch. Link to v2 patch: https://patchew.org/linux/20260708175837.1718437-1-dawidro@gmail.com/ Cheers Dawid
