  1. Hardkernel team released ubuntu 18.04 mate 1.20.1 for odroid c1, c2, and XU4, on kernels respectively 3.10, 3.16, 4.14. Let's say that the C2 odroid still works. but ubuntu 18/04 at 3.10 C1, with heavy MATE 1.20 it does not really work. It's a misunderstanding. First of all there are problems with graphics and where the rest. Bows to Igor. -)

  3. hello dear experts Where would you recommend me to store the Keepass-file? Well - for most of the use-cases usually i have all my personal documents in my cloud account. The pro: i can access it from everywhere in the world. With any device. But besides that i am not so sure if this is safe. Especially if it comes to such things like keepass: Some friends mentioned that it is not so safe: Question; would it be safe to use the cloud for the keepass-file? Can i secure it even further, by adding another (extra) layer of security by encrypting the file. the generalized question is this: How safe is it to store the keepass-file in the (wrong pla…

I needed a small zero cross detector to switch SSR's efficiently and properly in my DIY reflow oven so I designed these in KiCad, and built them. They are optically isolated (5000V Isolation) and Low power (less than 120mW) so are safe to hook up to any board supported by Armbian (or any other SBC) (provided you safely wired them to the mains) and produce a nice open drain low going pulse for 1ms (50Hz AC) centred dead around zero cross. (about 0.83ms for 60Hz AC). On the digital side they will interface to any logic level between 1.8V and 5V. The thing is I only need 2, and I have spares because I had to get 10 PCB's minimum. I have decided to build them…

  8. Hello, I hope this is the right place to ask .I have worried a few days.Don't know whether it is appropriate to ask here. I am using the LM95071 in a simple application to measure ambient temperature of our product. The normal temperature range is approx 15degC through to 50degC. In general the part is working well, however intermittently I will read a value of -22degC. The spurious values occur around once every 100-200k reads. Typically a valid read should be 0x0eab, however I am occasionally getting spurious values of 0x0f4b3, 0x0f4a7, 0x0f4a3 or 0x0f4b7 I am reading the LM95071 every 4ms, which is much faster than its conversion time, however t…

I am looking for enclosures (cases) to mount Orange Pi boards in. I have the original enclosures, but they do not have any space for additional boards / wiring etc. And there is no way to mount the enclosure... I am wondering what other people use to mount the boards. If there are no enclosures available for OPi boards, maybe there are some available for other boards. I am not interested in Raspberry enclosures since I don't want to use RPis .

Next I want build something like home automation withing this board, so I think it should have a 2GB ram and A53 cores(64bit+performant). Think Sata is not important yet. Maybe way later I will try casting something to tv via WiFi(not HDMI). Of course I'm looking at OPi win plus/prime or Nanopi k2. They are very cheap, but are they of enough quality? Or I should choose something else?

  13. I just released a new library to act as a DNS filter. This differs from pi-hole in that it runs as a user-level program and doesn't depend on dnsmasq. This allows you to run it on a machine without changing your network configuration. It hasn't been rigorously tested, but appears to work properly. It can either proxy the packets to a trusted DNS server or spoof the return address using RAW sockets to route the response back to the requestor. It can fool web pages (like CNN) as it blocks ads and replaces dynamic ad script requests with innocuous javascript responses. https://github.com/bitbank2/bb-hole

Try the demo here: https://rpguy.weebly.com/uploads/2/0/8/5/20854550/3d_intersecting_rotation.swf This is the first version and only lets you do 1 intersection, but in future versions you will be able to do many movieclip intersections.

I love this web interface NODE JS along with this relay plate RELAY PLATE and have it working with Raspberry PI3, but now I want to take advantage of the additional ram I have with Rock64. The process did not go without a hitch. I list the latest version of NPM in my machine and the web interface is working. I don't think the relays are getting triggered even though I painstakingly crossed the power pinouts and the gpio pinouts. Not sure if this can be adapted or if it has been done before. HI. I have a system on emmc protected by overlayroot. Sensitive data are written to sd card. Everything works as expected. The question is: Is there a way to temporarily access the root filesystem from python script ? Of course, I can temporarily deactivate protection by ‘overlayroot-chroot’ command from terminal and make changes, but that's not what I mean. I have a web server application written in a flask framework. On one of its pages, users can set network parameters, e.g. IP, mask, dns . Is it possible at all, eg when the user accepts changes to disable protection, save changes to root filesystem and immediately enable protection ?

  42. Orange Pi 5B subforum has recurring threads about eMMC boot loops, WiFi/Bluetooth regressions on mainline kernels, and the general "what image actually works on this thing" question. Joshua-Riek's ubuntu-rockchip was a common answer to that for a long time, but it was archived recently. This is a personal continuation fork in case it's useful to anyone working through those same issues. Is it a bug, or something expected from now on. I also noticed the https://armbian.chi.auroradev.org/dl/rock-5-itx/ folder is empty.

Can anyone confirm whether firefox-esr_60.2.1esr-1~deb9u1 works?

  65. Hi everyone, I am developing an industrial system using a Raspberry Pi 5 (Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm). Because it is deployed in an environment with abrupt power cutoffs, I am facing an issue where the default pink and white splash screen randomly reappears during boot, overriding my configuration. Here is what I have already implemented to prevent this: Disabled Splash Screen: Added disable_splash=1 to /boot/firmware/config.txt. Read-Only File System: Enabled the native Overlay File System via raspi-config to protect the boot and root partitions from corruption. Industrial Hardware: Tested with high-end storage to rule out basic SD card degradation…

  66. Hello, i'm trying to make Arch work on my H3, it boots to uboot, loads fine and says RAM size and reads /boot/boot.scr, but when it tries to ext4load something it gives a error of ` ** fs_devread read error - block` and ` ** No partition table - mmc 0`, everything after `321 bytes read in 24 ms (33.2 KiB/s)` loads by arrays of pixels, i never seen these before on Armbian, H3Droid or any other img file. [ EDIT ] Turns out, U-Boot defaults to 400000hz on SD card while saying its mode is SD High Speed (50MHz), i still cant fix the issue...

  67. Hi I'm looking to emulate an industrial device such as eWon or ESA router by using an sbc with dual eth and tailscale/headscale. What is the best and cheapest board? better if with a decent chassis. I'm interested in something like nanopi Rx or orangepi Rx. Any idea? thank you

  68. Hi all, I'm running DietPi on an Orange Pi Zero 3 (H618, sunxi64), which repackages the Armbian current-sunxi64 kernel. I use a USB DVB-T2 dongle (HanfTek Astrometa RTL2832P, VID/PID 15f4:0131) with tvheadend for over-the-air TV. After a routine update the dongle stopped working entirely, and I tracked the root cause down to missing kernel modules. ## Problem Starting from kernel 6.18.x (package linux-image-current-sunxi64 version 26.05.0-trunk-dietpi1 and all subsequent builds through dietpi5), the following modules are absent from the kernel package: - dvb_usb_v2 - dvb-usb-rtl28xxu - dvb_core …

  69. Hi everyone, I'm running a small application on an Armbian-based SBC and need a reliable SMTP Service Provider for sending notifications and transactional emails. I've been comparing a few options, including iDealSMTP, Mailgun, and SMTP2GO. For those hosting services on Armbian devices, which provider has worked best in terms of deliverability and ease of configuration? Any tips or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

  70. Hello ! I just finished modifying the Rockchip U-Boot bootloader to make it possible to boot Android OS from NVMe SSD. If anyone needs this, here is the complete tutorial: https://github.com/MarusGradinaru/NanoPi-M5-Android-NVMe

  71. I want to get an sbc to make personal server running website with backend for me, so basically JS, Python, and other stuff. I also want to connect my microcontrollers like esp32 to make my custom smart home system, by using camera. Maybe i also could use AI to analize the image. I found one Banana pi M3(2gb ram) for under 10$, so i am thinking whether to buy it. I feel like the deal is great since i can't find other sbcs with such hardware, ram to be specific, but i heard that software support is bad. Is that true for now? Or is it usable? I am also thinking of getting Orange pi one plus(1gb ram), but it costs more and also has less ram. What shoul…

  73. Now the picture is complete, and it's better news than the September note suggested. Three things in Firefox's own code: 1. There's a fallback chain already, and it's three deep. CreateTexture tries zero-copy import first; if that fails it has CreateTextureViaCopyYUV for NV12 and CreateTextureViaCopyP010 for 10-bit. 2. Those fallbacks already use the external-texture machinery — the exact mechanism a whole-frame import needs: aGLContext->fBindTexture(LOCAL_GL_TEXTURE_EXTERNAL, srcTex); aGLContext->fEGLImageTargetTexture2D(LOCAL_GL_TEXTURE_EXTERNAL, mEGLImage[aPlane]); So Firefox can bind a dma-buf as an external texture. It just does it …

  74. Made some power consumption tests of different USB-Ethernet 2.5G, 1G and 100M dongles. Test bed: Orange Pi Zero3 with 480 MHz CPU speed locked, connected to the PC over UART, Armbian 26.11.0-trunk.30 6.18.48-current-sunxi64 AVHzY CT-3 for power consumption monitoring Intel I226-V as another Ethernet side First I set a baseline Orange Pi consumption with USB Host enabled. The absolute minimum I could get is with a Logitech radio keyboard dongle plugged in — 0.934 W. Then I plugged in USB-Ethernet adapters and recorded its idle power consumption without cable connected, idle power with cable and En…

I'm older and not much time allowed to "F" off. I used to spend time in my late 30's On Q3A InstaUnlagged. I'm using AI The best I can to do the things I dont have time for. I bought a OP5b before our house flooded and then I started AI for geneology.. went f'n amazing... Family came here from France in 1624. In 1924 there was a commemorative coin and 2 stamps celebrating my family and other French and Belgium Huguenots working the American Dream, with religious freedoms... Then a book about our Family's farm in Central Park. An artist hired to painting of the description of the farm.. So I bought the coin, the two stamps, the painting, the book and the French Bible that…

  76. <prompt> "Talk to me about it." <claude> Good question, because the honest answer has layers, and most of the "8K" in the ads lives in only one of them. What's real: the decoder. The RK3588's video engine (RKVDEC2) really does decode 8K: HEVC and VP9 at 8K@60, H.264 and AV1 at 8K@30, in silicon. That's not marketing. It's the same block Deep Ink talks to for our 4K HDR work, and 8K is just more macroblocks through the same pipe. So "8K video decoding" is a true statement about the chip. Where it thins out: the display. The VOP2 display controller's big port (VP0) tops out at 8K@30 or 4K@120, and here's the nugget: those are the same number. …

  77. Hi everyone, I’m sharing an engineering paper about getting a PP-OCRv6-based RapidOCR pipeline running on the Orange Pi Zero 3W’s Allwinner A733 / Vivante VIP9000 NPU, integrated into Visual AI. Full paper: https://github.com/sog777/orange-pi-zero-3w-rapidocr-npu The tests used the Orange Pi Debian 12 Bookworm image and its vendor NPU stack, not Armbian. This is an engineering case study, not an Armbian support request or a claim that the same binaries work on an Armbian image. The paper covers the ONNX → ACUITY → NBG → VIPLite conversion path, static model shapes, targeted convolution and LayerNorm graph rewrites, quantization, simulator-versus-hardwa…
