  1. I am using the latest Armbian version with a legacy kernel on my M2+ board. The Armbian forum has already been a great source of help. Now I am facing a new issue: - for my setup the IPv6 NAT netfilter module is required, which was introduced in Kernel 3.7 So in my understanding I have two options: a) backport the kernel module(s) to the legacy Kernel by customizing the armbian build process switch to the mainline Kernel The mainline kernel for H3 boards seems to lack support for Gigabit ethernet and in general still remains no recommended for potential overheating problems? Thus, I guess I have to get working on the Kernel module backports. Do yo…

    I thought I had this mastered but I cannot get the OPI to boot. I downloaded the current legacy image trusty, use 7zip to unzip it and then use a image writer to write the image to the SD formatted sd card. Am I missing something here? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    Hi folks, I'd like to build a simple rs485 interface onto an A20-OLinuxino-Micro board. Therefore I was looking into utilizing one of the UARTs (6 or 7) on EXT1 or EXT2, add an external driver chip to it and 'fork' the according kernel module to implement support for switching send/receive with the RTS line. While that seemed to be an easy approach, I already got stuck with the basics. :-( dmesg shows me [ 2.822776] printk: console [ttyS0] disabled [ 2.842962] 1c28000.serial: ttyS0 at MMIO 0x1c28000 (irq = 53, base_baud = 1500000) is a U6_16550A [ 2.843045] printk: console [ttyS0] enabled [ 2.866650] 1c29800.serial: t…

  7. Hi, i have a problem with my two Orange Pi Zero´s The Orange Pi Zero´s are installed with the latest Armbian_5.59_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113 Both Opis are only connected to 5V2A over the microUSB Port and the LAN Port (not WLAN) and use a recommended Sandisk 16GB microSD Card. Both Pi´s are not reachable over SSH maybe 15 Minutes after boot. Direct after the boot SSH is working. Other Services like ping and the installed snmp deamon are working pretty well. Only SSH access stops working after maybe 15 Minutes. There is nothing connected to the OPIS. Is there a known problem with SSH deamon? Greets and thx for help …

  8. Running apt-get dist-upgrade tries to install the new Allwinner H3 kernel but it takes the Orange Pi PC a really, really long time to extract and install it. The heartbeat LED flashed really fast and after 30 minutes I elected to stop it. Has anyone succeeded doing apt-get dist-upgrade today to get the new kernel on the Orange Pi PC or Orange Pi One, and, if so, how long did it take? The packages are: linux-firmware-image-sun8i linux-headers-sun8i linux-image-sun8i linux-jessie-root-orangepih3 linux-u-boot-orangepih3-default Thanks in advance for any information or advice.

    Armbian Legacy 5.56 Kernel 3.10 boots and installs to the eMMC (as long as ext2fs is picked). Armbian Dev 5.56 Kernel 4.19 does not boot from the SD Card at all (power LED and black screen). I don't have the serial console adapter (yet) so I don't know if there is something useful there.

  10. Started by XTL,

    For a lark I wanted to see if a BPi would do as a softsynth. I started with the very nice 2.9 Jessie image* and 4.x kernel, but noticed only then that there's no sound, so I installed the 3.4 packages. After booting, ALSA seems to be working fine wrt line sound output and mixer. I could also play MIDI files with fluidsynth fine and hear clear audio on headphones. Connecting a USB MIDI keyboard also gets detected and its ports show up. Now, fluidsynth as a server won't start and neither does jackd. Both seem to complain about missing /dev/snd/seq. So I'm wondering if there's a kernel module or option missing or if it's an artifact of there being no actual MIDI synt…

  11. Greetings all, See my last post in thread for method I found to get around issues. EDIT: This may be limited to is an apt issue DNS seems ok after all. Use nmtui to edit network config not armbian-config None of what follows should be taken as complaining. 14. Hi, after upgrading my Cubietruck it failed to boot from SSD. I suspect this has something to do with the causes discussed here: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/690-upgrade-error-with-armbian-500-on-cubieboard2-running-from-nand/?hl=boot#entry5649 and / or a proper installation of the 'board support packages'. I got the same failure message as mentioned above: FEHLER: unable to make backup link of `./boot/bin/cubieboard.bin' before installing new version: Operation not permitted Directory /boot from nand1 was mounted during upgrade. I thought the solution would be to boot from SD to SSD an fix the issues. So I changed boot.cmd accordingly …

As the board has no soldered USB connectors and mine is still in the mail, I was forced to do all this via the serial console via the three pins on the board. I'm trying to recompile the image from source (because I want the kernel with SATA PMP support, and I got the SATA port multiplier and 3 drives ready), but failed in the last step. As the attached image, the problem should be caused by "Device or resource busy". I'm using a fresh downloaded Ubuntu 16.4 VB image and follow every instructions in github. So, how can I get rid of it? Am I missing something? Thanks.

Just - Green light blinks on lan , Orange is unlit. I tried to write (linux dd) it on 2 different SD-cards , a 8GB Intenso , and also a 16GB Sandisk - same behaviour. I grabbed the latest Jessie from the archive , and wrote it to the Intenso 8GB , and it booted fine w. jessie. I don't mind…

    Hi to All, I decided to start this new tread for searching of the best solution for unification of the boot process from any available media. Main target is Armbian next and development branches and mainline Kernel and U-Boot. Boot device can be eMMC, SD/MMC, USB Flash/HDD and SATA HDD/SSD probed in given order. In case of booting from eMMC, SD/MMC and USB Flash Read-Only Root FS can be used optionally. In case of booting from SD/MMC or USB Flash eMMC and / or SATA devices can be updated automatically. Some effort in this direction was done by me and described in Armbian Customization thread. The tests was done on Olimex' A20-Olimexino-Lime2-eMMC (HW rev. …

    I just noticed there isn't a i2s/i2s0 overlay for the mainline kernel series: Linux orangepipcplus 4.14.78-sunxi #412 SMP Fri Oct 26 11:37:04 CEST 2018 armv7l GNU/Linux https://github.com/armbian/sunxi-DT-overlays/tree/master/sun8i-h3 Is it a simple matter of just adding some text files for DT? Or was i2s intentionally left out because or some conflict for example? (I had good luck with legacy on Banana Pi Pro a long time ago with fex, so I'm guessing it's a unintended omission?)

When watchdog-timeout = 16 in /etc/watchdog.conf, the timeout is 11 seconds : /etc/watchdog.conf max-load-1 = 24 watchdog-device = /dev/watchdog realtime = yes priority = 1 watchdog-timeout = 16 interval = 3 root@orangepizero:~# systemctl status watchdog.service ● watchdog.service - watchdog daemon Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/watchdog.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: active (running) since Mon 2018-01-29 11:10:27 HKT; 3min 31s ago Process: 851 ExecStart=/bin/sh -c [ $run_watchdog != 1 ] || exec /usr/sbin/wa…

    Hello, I have decided to try out Ubuntu 16.04 legacy on my original banana pi for the first time and to my surprise the first problem I noticed is that the usb ports weren't working at all. I tried two keyboards which are working fine on all my Linux computers all running on mint 18.3 (logiItech k360, and insignia nsc5011-c) they are both wireless keyboard + mouse combos they did not work at all on the banana. I previously had bananian on it prior to today and all usb ports were working fine as I was able to connect external usb hard drives to it. I decided to connect the banana to my LAN and ssh to it from my laptop, did an apt update…

    Dear All, I wonder if its possible to boot the Orange PI One from USB without an SDcard. 1, In the description I found (http://www.orangepi.org > Linux Distributions for Orange PI H3 boards ) that "cmdline.txt must exist on BOOT (fat) partition on sd card "... for me that means I always need to have the sdcard there to be able to restart? 2, I read some other posts ,which use one or other way U-Boot... would it help and how it should go step by step to make it work. 3, Or is there any other possibilities to make the PI One boot/work without populating the SDcard at all? 4, Under the description on the "http://www.orangepi.org> Linux Distributions for Oran…

  97. Hello, I have problem with mpd server and sound volume in mpd. When I set volume to max in alsamixer and in mpd (mpc volume 100) sound is very quiet. When I run mplayer with the same mp3 and alsamixer settings the sound is very loud. I tried mixer_type set to software and hardware in mpd.conf but with no effect. I think the problem is with allwinner audiocodec because when I use usb sound card everything works as expected ( them same sound levels in mpd and mplayer ). Is there any trick to solve this?

  98. Hi, after some hours of not using the banana, it seems the system is dead. I cannot log in with a terminal. I cannot bring back the black screen to the console (i am using only the console) with a connected mouse and keyboard. All I can do is a reset. This is horrable, beccause the deamons in background should capture same data. Maybe is it an energie saver? How can I switch off them? Or how can I examine, what was happens? Thanx, Timbers

  100. Friends I have a keyboard Rii i8 + I put the adapter that comes with the keyboard I put to locate by the bluetooth of the armbian it finds but at the time of pairing in happens nothing, only blinks green in Bluetooth and nothing else. I've tried another adapter, but it does not even appear as installed. This keyboard I use it with Openelec and works perfectly. Does anyone have any tips on what I can do for it to work on Armbian? Thanks.
